Happy slightly belated birthday from me too, Karen!!
Ruth, my son got a bit of snow in Providence! Here in Santa Fe it is cool and cloudy with rain possible tomorrow or Monday. Good walking weather in the meantime, and that is what I am heading to do right now!

Cold, cold here. I am wearing my flowered yoga pants today in honor of Spring and Mother's Day. I will probably do Zoom Yoga and/or Barre Scupt later today.
Happy Mother's Day to all who nurture others (animals included)! ❤

It's cold here too, ruthbru! Wind chill was 32F on my recovery run this AM--I had to bust out some of my winter running gear in MAY!
Finished the virtual half marathon yesterday, which is nice to have done. It's weird running a race alone, other runners are part of the enjoyment, we can really encourage each other when things get tough. Ah well, it's done, second virtual half marathon this year.

Never fear. I suspect that the rest of the country will be very toasty soon, as the weather we are having moves East. I am ready for things to cool down a bit which should happen within the next 24 hours. My plan was to do a ride into the mountains, now that the road is open. I tried doing this yesterday, but it was just too windy. So I bailed and did ten miles of walking along a gravel trail that goes in a slightly different direction. One of the reasons that it is so toasty is that we have down sloping winds off the Cascades.
After yesterday's walk, I went into Seattle and picked up my two wine club shipments. Was nice to see everyone, even if at a distance. I am doing my best to help out, but a girl can drink only so much wine.
Today, the wind had died down a bit, and I was able to do my ride - a real workout with the wind. Great fun and just glorious. Then back to hit the shower and, in the interest of air quality, wash my cycling attire.
I stopped for gorgeous peonies at a farm stand on the way home. So think I am set, especially since I have dinner ready to go
Happy Mother's Day everyone! - Claire

Good going edj! Much colder, over-cast grey and super windy here as well.
Attended a yoga workshop with Donna Farhi last night - a second in a series, with the theme being; From Inertia to Energy: When You Can't Get off the Floor. We went through gentle asanas, spinal oscillation using a rolled up tea towel and twists, as well as longer stays in supported restorative postures, ending with relaxing yoga nidra. The zoom platfrom kept freezing with Donna having to re-connect~sigh. Got a few take aways for my own practice and additions to yoga for cancer class, whenever we continue back at the community center. Have a good start to the week everyone!

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day, with or without kids. We had gorgeous weather and could fire up the grill. But no tennis as planned because the ground was still wet.
Primary school re-opens today as well as the gym. But no group classes yet. For now the only way I'm going to the gym is if I can be the first one there in the morning before anyone has coughed on the equipment or droplets have landed on the floor. But it's unlikely I'll get up at 6 am for that so I may not go to the gym for a while. Plus I am still doing my online classes for friends and relatives 60+ and it's mentally exhausting. I don't know how you do it, LilacBlue. I sweat a lot more as instructor. I also worry someone will hurt something, including me! Nice video. Now I wish I had married a dancer, haha.

HeidiHill, I'm with ya and much harder to teach online than it looks. No gyms opening here - new guidelines are clear as mud. How is your brother and his wife doing?

Beautiful video, Lilac. We took the dogs for a very long walk & I did Zoom Zumba tonight. Our group classes remain online for the forseeable future.

Hello my fitness friends! Just popping in to ask what tennis shoes work for plantar fasciitis? I have several pairs of tennis shoes but the the two pair I have a tendency to work out in our pair of Asics a pair of Brooks. The Brooks used to be my favorite but now all of a sudden they're not. And I'm assuming it's got to do with what I'm assuming is plantar fasciitis. Thanks in advance I just need to keep moving and as long as I have all good shoes I am!

If you have plantar fasciitis, sneakers with good arch support, plush cushioning, shock absorption, and a chunky heel are what you want.
It's generally smart to choose a heavier shoe, since lightweight sneakers don't deliver much support, says New York-based podiatrist Hillary Brenner, DPM. "You don't want to bend the shoe in half like a burrito," she explains.
Here are the best running shoes for plantar fasciitis (as well as insoles!) you should add to your workout wardrobe if you're suffering from this foot condition.
1 Brooks Running Glycerin 17 Running Shoe
New Jersey-based podiatrist and American Podiatric Medical Association spokesperson Alan Bass, DPM, is a fan of Brooks Running shoes for those with plantar fasciitis. This breathable, cushioned roadrunner makes moving from heel to toe incredibly smooth. It has two-way stretch for a customized fit and plush, removable insoles for comfort and support. Take note: The arch support on this sneaker is considered "neutral", meaning it doesn't provide extra support for those with low arches.
2 Asics GEL-Nimbus 22 Running Shoe
The exoskeletal heel counter in this shoe from Asics (Dr. Brenner recommends the brand) provides support, while additional height relieves Achilles' heel tension. It's also shock-absorbent and allows for movement in multiple planes as the foot goes through the gait cycle.
3 New Balance 1080v9 Fresh Foam Running Shoe
New Balance is another brand that gets Dr. Bass' vote, and these stylish running shoes combine fresh foam, cushy Ortholite insoles, and mesh uppers to ensure total comfort. The wide toe box helps stabilize, while thick midsoles provide superior cushioning and shock absorption while you run.
4 Hoka One One Bondi 6
Paul Langer, DPM, a podiatrist based in Minnesota, likes Hoka One shoes, and these kicks are arguably the most cushioned shoe on the market. With molded Ortholite footbeds, internal heel counters, and a wider fit for stability, these surprisingly lightweight sneakers offer the perfect amount of toe room for a natural position of your foot. Also great? The thick sole provides shock absorption to lessen the impact on your feet, ankles, and legs.
5 Saucony Guide ISO 2 Running Shoe
This shoe has tons of plush cushioning, as well as mesh construction and contoured footbeds, which enable a custom fit. The evenly distributed cushion throughout the heel and toe provide comfort and support for those suffering from plantar fasciitis. We also like that the reflective elements make it ideal for evening runs.

Thanks Ruth! Brooks have always been my favorite. I have been wearing my Asics most of the time for a few weeks with mixing my Adidas and Reebox in here and there. Today I wore my Brooks and they were just uncomfortable. Brooks normally make me want to run. After I posted I started trying to remember when I got the Brooks. I had them when Chance was born (youngest grandson) He just turn 5,🤦🏻♀️ Time for a new pair

We took the dogs on a very long, up & down hills walk out at a lake. We must have worn them out because this is what they looked like on the way home.

Laughing Ruth!
So true. Overheard a conversation last week between two gents. One asked the other where his dog was. Answer: she's home sleeping!
Nice to have someone else confirm that the meme is true!
Now to sleep the same way....but just may do this after a very long walk, plus dinner, plus wine! - Claire

Vagadoll,
I went to poditrist and got fitted for inserts to help with plantar facititis. You can put them in any shoe and it helps greatly. My feet no longer bother me. Running, dress, sneakers ect.

Been making regular exercise attempts - doing classical stretch pretty regularly, interspersed with hikes and mowing. Yesterday DH and I went for a bike ride on the bike path - there is a new spur that goes to the University, so we took that instead of our usual route to the beach (thank goodness, I haven't ridden a bike in months and its 17 mile round trip!), then we rode around the University where we both met almost 40 years ago. Lots of new buildings since we went there, but the most happy/sad thing was as we rode around the almost empty campus, there were little groups of 2 to 4 students everywhere in their caps and gowns, taking pictures and whooping it up. They all looked so happy, clearly making lemonade out of lemons!

I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes this morning, another 30 minutes with the dogs this afternoon in the rain. Zoom Zumba in a few minutes.

Yesterday and today the weather has been nice low to high 70s and sunny in the afternoon. Tomorrow and Friday calls for rain - that will definitely put a damper on walking. Then 89 and sunny on Monday and Tuesday!!! Way too hot for me!! My perfect summer day is low to mid 70s, sunny, blue sky and light breeze not that it happens a lot in Denver in the summer.
My passport expires in August. I was planning to renew it in March, then DH's emergency surgery and Covid-19. I went to Walgreens to get my passport picture (it actually is a good picture) after dinner. No longer allowed to wear glasses in your photo. Came home and went online to get paperwork to renew. Basically the passport offices are closed unless it's a life and death emergency. They closed on March 19th. The websites says don't renew as it will be months to get it approved and even if you applied before March 19th it would be months! Not that I plan on getting on a plane anytime soon, but it feels weird to know that I can't go visit 2 of my 3 kids. But that is a mute point as the USA/Canada border is closed till at least June 21st and only citizens are allowed into Israel. You can renew a passport up to 5 years after it expires. DH spoke to cardiologist yesterday and he doesn't want him flying anytime soon. Yesterday was 9 weeks since the surgery, yet it seems like its been forever!! He looks great and is doing well. I have travelled every summer to Israel except for 2 since 2011 (2013 and 2014). I also go see DD#1 and SIL. Between the 2 places, I'm usually gone the month of July. DH comes with me for 2 weeks. It will be weird being in Denver all summer!!! Our house should be really organized and cleaned out by the end of the summer!!!
It's been nice walking with DH during the day. I'm not getting 15K everyday but at least 12 or 13K. I really thought with the distance learning that I would be walking more. Only 2 more weeks left!! I've never want the year to end as much as I do this year. I'm so tired of looking through the computer for meetings and working with kids. I do need to catch up on end of the year paperwork, so I better get more efficient next week.
DH and I found a new series to watch on Netflix - Madame Secretary. Not a show to binge watch - we only watch one episode/night - they are 45 minutes.
Ruth - poor tuckered out puppies!!
Varga - I have Asics gel something - I rarely ever wear them - they last me years!! In the summer I live in my Chaco sandals and in the winter either my Blundstone boots or Sanita/Dansko clogs. I'm not much of a runner - I can manage about 15 minutes of a 45 minute walk if I run/walk.
Sweet dreams

Marathon training continues--we had a lot of rain forecast Tues, Wed, Thur but fortunately it all fell well after my runs. I won't have that same luck on Saturday--I'm scheduled to run 18 miles and we're on tap to get thunderstorms all day. But Sunday looks good so I'll do it then.

Have had a good livestream gym class each day this week, plus a 54 minute (according to Mr. Fitbit) walk last evening with DH on the golf cart paths of our neighborhood golf course...they typically don't like you walking on the paths, but now the place is almost deserted...but the course opens up again this weekend, Virginia (except for the DC suburbs) is opening tomorrow for more businesses even while we have a general stay-at-home order until June 10. Once I get through graduation on Saturday, we plan to decamp to our beach cottage and stay at home while looking at/walking on the beach. Lots of room to self distance, no sunbathing just fishing and walking. Hope we can stay safe. TT

TT, walking on a beach sounds wonderful to me!
We walked dogs for 45 minutes this afternoon & Zoom Yoga tonight. In between, I got a call & an email from the Business Manager at the school. Apparently someone hacked a statewide site with teacher information and has been filing fraudulent unemployment claims under our names. I have spent most of the evening filling out forms, beefing up security on my credit cards, doing credit checks, getting my name on a list so a police investigator can contact me (which might be awhile because there is a long list). Tomorrow I have to get an affidavit notarized (which I will have to send into the state fraud bureau once I have talked to, and gotten a report from, the police investigator). I am SO mad!!!

Ruth - oh my - how awful. I hope you are able to get it sorted out quickly with no damage to your credit, $ etc. What a nightmare. Mad is an understatement.

Good morning all,Yesterday so nice outside out, supposed to have T-storms later. Got so much exercise yesterday. Felt sooo good. Did over 5 miles on my power walk. Unable to take my dog, Poor bastard could bearly walk yesterday, took him to Vet, he has Lyme disease. Better today after being on antibiotics. I have to be tested for covid-19, exposed to someone at infusion center 2 weeks ago. I have no symptoms, don't go anywhere except Doc appointments and trial drug at infusion center in Providence, RI. Just another test, know I don't have it though. Have a great day everyone

Martaj, good luck on the test! Ruth, what a mess, hope it all gets sorted out. Lilac, my brother is still on chemo and tolerating the current cocktail much better than the first.
I bought a yoga app, mat and pillow. So I better do more yoga now that I'm not going to the gym for a while. We have a bike ride planned for tomorrow if the weather holds up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9evC1R82HMA A good laugh for everyone but especially for educators current and retired!!!. One of my team mates posted it on her weekly update.

Very good, Karen!
Walked the dogs & dealt with the fraud stuff all day.

Martaj, fingers crossed for negative result. Oh Ruth, what a terrible mess this fraud issue is and sorry this has happened to you. HeidiHill, good to read treatment is better than before. I subscribe to a few yoga sites and sadly, don't really utilize them enough. I liked that Karen!
I'm starting next week - to offer for SafeFit Trial, virtual clinics delivering universal health and wellbeing interventions for cancer patients who are following social distancing guidelines. Over the next four days, I have online webinars and zoom classes to attend with other level 4 cancer specialist instructors to deliver this trail for six months, through CanRehab Trust, funded by UK cancer charity Macmillan. We are matched with cancer patients across the nation, working one-to-one and the first month for 1-3x's a week, and less time together as the months pass - keeping a log of progress or regressions. This should be interesting and hopefully have a positive effect for those in the UK going through cancer treatment.
Have a good weekend everyone!

I'm crushed. I was on my long run this morning and my right foot started hurting pretty badly. So I cut the planned 18 miles to 10 (which got me back to my house). It felt even worse after taking off my shoe and I knew in my heart of heart what was going on.
I have fractured my third metatarsal No running for 6 to 8 weeks. I feel like one of those weeble people, I keep getting knocked down.
First annual scans are on Wednesday and oh by the way, I also found a lump about 5 weeks ago. I'm sure it's nothing but 2020 has been a shit year so far so who knows.

Oh no, edj!!! Sending a virtual hug your way.
