This is so funny & pretty much sums up distance learning from the teacher's point of view

Happy First Day of Summer!

Here's a little collage of some of my flowers.

Beautiful flowers Ruth!

I love clematis, Ruth!!! Got some more peonies today at the flower stand after my ride. Chilly for a solstice ride.
My fridge is stocked with amazing veg and a steak that I am having for dinner. I may make a sauce from garlic scapes and mushrooms to make it extra special. I am hoping to get to the Skagit Valley tomorrow and come home with amazing strawberries and potatoes.
(I am as bad about potatoes as my father was. He only liked Green Mountains, and wanted them from a certain local grower. I am the same way, but with Yukon Golds where I think the ones grown in the Skagit Valley are the best ever. It's a year round cool climate, and I do think that makes a difference.)
If I see spotted shrimp at Snow Goose Produce tomorrow, I am buying them. I am ready with the cocktail sauce. Otherwise, local fish.
Counting the days till my haircut on Tuesday.... - Claire

Ruth - great video - beautiful. Maybe I need a tutorial from you on distance learning! I don't feel up to speed at all!

Kayaked 3 miles here. Absolutely beautiful. Haven't done it since being dx with triple neg breast cancer a year ago. Loved it

Martaj - awesome!
Up early, at least compared to the past few days - really my normal time. Donating blood at 7:15. At least I hope to. I went about 10 days ago and my hematocrit was only 12.2 and it has to be 12.5. It took over a week to get an appointment - people must be donating more than usual. Hoping my hematocrit is okay today.
Have a great Sunday.

Fun Martaj!
We met up with DS and the grand-puppies for a Father's Day picnic in the park. Afterwards I walked & did Zoom Barre & Zoom Yoga.
Karen, I could attempt to help you if you want. Each spring I do a talk for the 7th grade history classes, and another one for the 8th grade. This year once I knew that they weren't going back into the building, I offered to do them online. For some unknown reason, the 7th grade was using one platform and the 8th grade another, so I learned how to use two different online teaching programs in the space of 4 days. Stressful (I was whining as I was trying to figure it out & DH said, "Just tell them you can't do it." To which I replied, "I can't. I am the one who contacted them with the offer, not the other way around!")

Ruth - thanks - I may just take you up on it. going back distance has me stressed to the max! I'm not ready to retire yet, as I love my job when it is in real time in the building! Plus DD#2 has 3 more years of University and we still want to be able to help her.
All 3 kids called DH to wish him a Happy Father's Day. Of course, I bought the gifts for him from them - they told me what to get - bottle of single malt, 6 pack of beer and gift card to a drum shop. DH asked if they chipped in and laughed because it was the same way Mother's Day. I won't take $ from my kids, but if they actually buy the gift, that's a different story. The kids have treated the both of us quite well over the years with their own $, so I have no complaints. Treated DH (and me) to steak for dinner. I ate way too much!! But it was so yummy. I haven't made steak since just before DD# left in September. We do eat beef on a regular basis - as part of Shabbat dinner with chicken, but not steak!!! And not this much beef in one sitting. Mother's Day and Father's Day are just different without any of the kids close by and also no parents. But oh well - I think its just that I'm missing being able to see the kids. But I'm enjoying the extra time with DH. This is the first summer in many years, that I've not travelled. Making progress in the house.
Waiting for DH to go for a walk then we will watch a couple episodes of Madam Secretary.
Sweet dreams.

Kayaked again today. Very very humid and hot here. Nice breeze along ocean. Got over heated even with lots of water. Today an easy day to recovery. Energy level getting there but still tire easily. I know its only been since Feb I had mastectomy with sentinal lymph node removal and reconstruction of both breasts, and 6 weeks radiation. Wear my sunscreen and hat. Affected armpit sore today. Guess I'm working it to hard. Enjoy your day everyone

I'm in learning & development, manage a team of instructional designers. My company has associates in about 10 different locations in the US, plus another three sites in Manila (which is where I was in January while Taal, the volcano, blew up--doesn't that seem like a year ago at least?)--we already offered some content virtually but we'll be switching to mostly virtual for two reasons: our CEO has said no travel unless the senior executives deem it critical for our business; and we are also adhering really well to social distancing guidelines and are required to wear masks while at work. So if it's between facilitating while wearing a mask or doing it virtually for our onsite classes, I'll take virtual. Obviously the rest of the locations in the US and abroad will be virtual.
I see the orthopedist tomorrow. I know I won't get cleared to run (and wouldn't even if he said I could, foot is still just not right). But I dearly hope I can stop wearing the boot. It's jacking up everything else, the base of my spine is so incredibly painful along with my left hip. I've never ever had back issues and my abs are quite strong, so I'm sure this is from my right leg being functionally longer than my left.

Today was a big day for me: I was able to really SWIM for the first time since before Covid...I am staying in a vacation rental in the Lake Tahoe area of California for a while... and they have a lovely, lovely lap pool and are requiring reservations, limiting usage to one person per lap at a time, everything that makes it feel safe for me! (pools are low risk because the virus can't live in chlorinated water...but of course contact with people at the pool is a problematic, making reservations a good solution.) So excited to be in the water, and I even had views of pine trees while I swam! Did almost an hour's worth of laps and basically had the place to myself; will be back tomorrow afternoon. Here is the pic of the lovely pool that felt very private today....

Lovely, Octo!
This morning DH & I jumped in the car and drove north 90 miles to a game preserve we had been wanted to explore. It was a beautiful day and we got in lots of fun hiking. I can't choose just one or two pictures!

Octo and Ruth - gorgeous photos!

Happy for you Octo and Tahoe in the summer is beautiful and relaxing. Ruth, lovely photos. Martj, that photo of you on the boat looking holding your catch looking fit and happy made my day and kayaking, how cool! Vargadoll, regardless of hormonal tests you stay consistent in getting your 3 miles in! Fingers crossed for boot removal today edj. Hey, a shout out to Falconer, HeidiHill, TwoHobbies, TrmTab..what's up?
Lot's of speculation here as to when gyms will reopen and something official may be forth coming this week. The 2 meter rule is going down to 1 meter today (1 yard). The UK app for track & trace has been shelved- starting again with 11 million £ down the pan. On the exercise front I'm learning the new BodyBalance release, yoga and walking, on a 5 week qigong zoom course and we rented a skip (dumpster) for week and have given the heave-ho to so much junk and broken clutter - feels great!

Dog walking, Barre & Zumba. My Book Club had our first in-person gathering since February. Luckily we have nice summers. I don't know what we'll do if things don't settle down before it gets cold!

Beautiful pics folks. Yesterday played 9 holes golf, very hot and humid. I actually improved my game!!!

Yea, Martaj! So glad you are getting back into the swing of things (golf pun intended 😜).
I'm getting ready to walk with the Wednesday Walking Women.

Beautiful pics Heidihill.. Just beautiful

Gorgeous pictures, Heidi.
I'm off to Dance2Fit in a few minutes. I have the dangerous activity of going to the dentist this afternoon.......which is not really a choice kind of thing. I am sure they are being as safe as possible for their own health as much as for the health of their patients (or more, since they do this all day, every day).

Dentists are being super careful these days; I wouldn't worry. I am certainly planning on keeping my appointment next month. This from the person who spent much more out of pocket on her smile than on cancer treatment ten years ago. Never again.
My weight is finally going down again slowly. Something about upping the miles on bicycle and walking/jogging. Looking more svelte as well.
Got a haircut two days ago and what a difference!!!
I don't think anyone has mentioned this BCO article from a few weeks ago. I was part of this study, and I think you can guess which group I fell into. The great news is that almost all of on this thread get far more than the minimum amount.
https://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/exercise-improves-survival-and-reduces-risk
Anyway, exercise really is the best thing we can possibly do for ourselves apart from finishing the treatment protocol.
I'll be getting plenty of "strength training" in at my friend Jon's moving party in two weeks. He and his ex helped me move in, and I owe him big time. Fortunately, his son is now about 16 so can do things like take the other end of the couch. Suspect "health food" afterwards such as a trip to Big Al's Brewing and pizza will be in order. (We can do both outside.)
He is moving from a very crowded 1 bedroom apartment to a small house which has a downstairs apartment which is already rented to a friend. I am so thrilled for him striking while interest rates are low. With the rental income, it will be roughly what he was paying for a much smaller space. A big WIN!!! Plenty of room for his large dog and son will get his own space in a refinished attic.
Gorgeous pictures Heidi! I may do a hike over July 4 weekend. Place I want to visit just and hike popped up on FB. A longish day trip but quite do-able. Oops...seem to have more activities planned than there is weekend! - Claire

Does anyone have recommendations for good cardio routines while on Xeloda?
0 -
Hi Blue, I don't know about Xeloda particularly; but having done a different chemo regimen, I know that exercise is good for you. It helps to keep up both ones physical strength and mental health too. My advice is to do what you want and see how it goes. You can scale down (or up) as needed.

My dentist appointment went fine. I just feel sorry for the poor hygienists who have to do their jobs all day dressed in astronaut suits!
