Celia - good response from your DH. Since 2011, this is only the first or second July 4th that I have been in the US!!! I've either been in Canada or Israel. First year that we don't have a dog to worry about with firework going off - I think in CO only 2 places are having organized fireworks. All other have been cancelled - but of course there are always the illegal ones.

Ruth - your party sounds like fun!!! Croquet was the game of fun when I was a child. I remember playing at my late grandparents house.

Walked this morning. Hoping to get another walk with DH - but he is exhausted from all the hiking this past week. He thinks he over did it. No pain or shortness of breath, but just exhausted.

I'm watching the news & there was a segment about a 103 year old jumping out of an airplane (in tandem), becoming the world's oldest person to parachute. His two grandsons jumped with him. Pretty awesome way to hang out with your grandpa!

I got 12,000 steps yesterday just hosting a picnic. There were only 6 guests (actually 10, but four of them were dogs). I have a split level house, so I was up & down repeatedly with food, utensils, etc. etc. I actually like sitting in a circle with TV trays better than sitting at tables because everyone can be in the same conversation. I will probably keep doing that even post-covid. I will do Zoom Barre & Yoga this afternoon.

Ruth - your pictures on fb looks like a fun time was had by all. 12K steps just hosting the picnic is a lot of steps!!!

Last night, the illegal fireworks were crazy!!! More than I remember in all the years I've been in Colorado. There weren't many legal fireworks. A speedway in the foothills had fireworks - but they well exceeded the people capacity the dept of health put in place for them. A fire fighter on the news said there were many more fireworks than fire fighters and they were hoping tonight would be quieter.

mid to high 90s all week - I am not a hot weather fan - to me, the perfect summer day is 75 - 80 (max), blue sky, light breeze and sunny blue sky.

Cleaned my spice cupboard today - I sent DD#1 a photo and her words were "unrecognizable". I had so many spices that were way too old - and had no aroma anymore. I also had new ones on the counter and in the pantry and I was able to get all the news ones in the spice cabinet and still have empty space. I can't tell you the last time I cleaned it out - but it felt good to do it!!

    Hi everyone,

I can’t believe I have been off this site for over a month. The end of school was pretty busy!

My exercise has mostly been outside yard work. Our daughter’s big wedding reception has been moved to next August and we are having a small ceremony in our yard this August for just the immediate family. We have been cleaning, scraping and painting our screened gazebo as well as building a stone wall behind it. We found all the rocks on our property and moved them into place. Then I moved huge piles of branches and tree trunks farther out on the property out of sight. Talk about strength workouts! Then came the planting and mulching. We still need to figure out the space behind the wall as DH cut down the trees before we had the revised wedding plan and it looks a mess.

Celebrated the 4th with a quiet outdoor visit with my 91 year old mom who lives 2 hours away. It was great to see her.

I cannot believe it about Covid parties. People are truly losing it in our country right now.

As of now, we are going back to school in person but we don’t have many details yet. Masks and social distawill be required.

Ginger, that will be one beautiful wedding!

I usually do a big charity walk/run in early June. At first they postponed it & finally had to pull the plug. The organizers have made it a virtual event, so this morning 3 friends & I met and walked a 5K on our own. I hope lots of people are registering and doing the same as it is for a good cause. Zumba tonight.

edj3: You have me singing We Will Rock You!

Ruth: Hope your cause makes lots of money with their virtual event.

Ginger: WOW! Your hard work has definitely paid off. Your yard looks amazing. I want your rock wall and your garden!

Karen: It feels so good to clean out an area of your home. Just wish my dh enjoyed it as much as I do (lol)

    Walked/ran yesterday and this evening.

At 6:30, it's already 66 with 98 for a high!!!!!! Have a 9:00 zoom meet with a co-worker to work on a training for August. Guessing it will be 30 to 60 minutes. Want to be sure to walk before then. Hopefully DH will want to walk by 8:00 so we can walk/run together and have time to shower before meeting. Too hot for my blood to do much outside. I did pull some weeds yesterday and cut some weed tree leaves - really should get the whole tree cut down so our evergreen tree can flourish. The area hasn't looked this good in years - can see this huge rock we have. More dead leaves to clean up. Will attempt some work as long as it is at least a little shade covered. Have a couple things to do for work - paperwork to get paid for a class and hoping my supervisor got my paperwork to get reimbursed for my conference last February. Then clean up the mess in my living room filled with all the stuff to give away. Lastly clean out my work stuff from my car that has been in the back for more than a year in case I need it and of course I never do. I guess this will all be work for the week.

Have a great day. Stay cool, safe and healthy.

After my back episode of 10 days ago, went to my first in-person gym classes...Sunday yoga, Monday pilates. While my back is still tender, I firmly believe that part of the problem was my NOT exercising as much after 3 months of lock down...or more especially after gyms started opening up and I didn't go and they stopped offering zoom classes.Walking on days not at classes, this week plan on four classes and will re-evaluate next week. Sourthern VA is now in full summer so 90's day after day, need to walk first thing in the morning or else it is impossible.

I know I have more aches and pains when I don't exercise. And I sure exercise at a higher level when I'm in an in-person class.

We took the dogs for a long walk out at a lake this morning (when it was cooler). I went to Barre & Zumba tonight. We are HOPING for some rain!

Good one, ruthbru! Cute cat, edj3! Great looking yard, Ginger!

Did Yoga and Barre/Pilates today. Had power outages yesterday due to storms - no Zoom Zumba, which was ok as I felt a bit under the weather due to a tooth infection.

Dance2fit & Barre. I tweaked my knee, so am moving rather gingerly, but found an old knee brace which has helped. (I wore some shoes that I knew didn't fit right so it's my own fault.)

I hurt my foot a few weeks ago from jogging in place to get my steps on my Fitbit. I knew I had hurt it, but it felt like I could shake it off so I kept going with my usual activities and even ran in the neighborhood. But then it got worse and had to ice it frequently, take ibuprofen and stop running or even walking. I was able to bike ride with that bad foot without pain.

Then last weekend we road bikes on a long rails-to-trails route that was rocky so it was quite jarring. Just yesterday, I felt pain on the right lower rib. It seems like this rib thing should be related to the bumpy bike ride. Praying that is all it is.

I have also gained weight from extra snacking during my work from home. Or it could be from the Raloxifene I started in March. I am back working in the office so that helps my diet. I just need to see if I can drop 6-7 lbs by eating better.

I have a mini trampoline so I can jog on it without hurting my foot and I have been riding my bike, hand weights and a little yoga.

Hope everyone is doing okay. Yesterday DH & I went to a little park about 30 miles away & did some exploring. Many years ago an astronomy professor & his students constructed a Medicine Wheel (a rock structure that served as a calendar to the ancient peoples & created a walking tour of the Solar System. The center of the Medicine Wheel represents the Sun & boulders representing the planets are spaced in exact proportion to their distances from the Sun (1 foot equaling 3 million miles). A section of the North Country National Scenic Trail winds through the wooded hillside of the park, so we were able to enjoy some history, science and hiking all in one short trip. I went to Pound & walked around the neighborhood today.

You can see some of the Medicine Wheel and some of the Solar System in this picture. I am sitting on planet Earth.

would love to visit that park someday, Ruth! thanks for the pics!

Add me to the list of folks with injured foots :-(. I did something, not sure what, but the top of my right foots hurts quite a bit when I stand for fairly long periods of time (I've noticed it when cooking) or when I walk or exercise. Dr.Google tells me it is most likely either a stress fracture or a sprain of some sort, and the only thing to do is stay off of it and rest...Sigh.

The good news is, I can swim! I am back in HOA and our pool has a reservation system for only one person per lane, by reservation only. Will be starting that up soon.

Yeah definitely take care of that, might want to get seen by your PCP. I'm healing but it's not as fast as I want (of course b/c I want to be running 30 miles a week again right now).

edj3: Glad your foot is healing. The waiting is hard.

GoKale: Hope your foot is feeling better.

octo: Hopefully Dr. Google is correct and you only have a foot strain.

Ruth: Hope your knee is better. What a great park!

CeliaC: Did you have to go to the dentist for your tooth?

I'm over here knocking wood that it's not my turn to hurt my foot or knee! Our grass is growing so fast and thick and I can't afford to have an injury.

My exercise has been mowing (of course), walking/running. Summer humidity and heat have settled in for the long haul. Getting acclimated to it.

I wore the knee brace for half a day and was miraculously healed! Probably it was mostly just giving it a rest that did it. Walked a little and did Zoom Yoga today.

Glad you're healing, edj! Yea for swimming, Octo! GoKale, I need to get serious about shedding the Quarantine Pounds too. Stay off the injured list, Wonderland!

    Zoom Yoga & Zoom Zumba

Wonderland - Thanks for asking about my tooth. Will be going in on Weds 7/15 for a root canal. Double the economic pain - Tax day and tooth repair day.

Forking over the money is the most painful thing about a root canal. Shocked

I did Pound this morning & Zumba tonight.

    This is pretty accurate:

More weights--I haven't posted here but I'm doing strength work six days a week. I do abs every workout and alternate upper and lower body. Today I see my endocrinologist, whom I love. We'll be looking at future treatment options for the osteoporosis since I had an allergic reaction to Prolia. My top number 1 above all goals is to have my bones stop breaking when I run. So if that means a daily injection I give myself, OK, I will take the Forteo. If that means an infusion every six months, OK even though I hate, hate, hate IVs (does anyone like them?).
