    Gorgeous photo!

My school district is talking about delaying the start for students (those on the traditional calendar) by one week, August 24 instead of the 17th. I figure since it's been put out on the website and on the local news, it's more than a consideration. The CFO said on the news that it's just not Covid but the hot August weather and so many old non A/C buildings...Right!!!! Staff goes back the 10th. The first week all or trainings are online. There are a few of us School Psychologists on my central team with our manager working on several trainings on different rating scale assessments. We've developed the SOPs(standard operating procedure), scripts and ppts and now we just have to narrate the training. I'm in charge of one. Definitely a new experience for me. I won't read slides but the information that goes with the slides. We need to be done by July 28.

I need to turn in a reimbursement form for the NSAP conference I went to in Baltimore in February. My manager's little boy was in the hospital before the conference so I didn't get it signed before I left. Then things go kind of hectic a couple weeks after I got back (DH surgery) and then going to online learning. I have sent the form to my manager a few times. Her scanner is not working so today she just said for me to sign her name. I think I'll ask a neighbor to do it so it doesn't look like my hand writing. It makes me a little nervous doing this but I'm just following directions!!! The form needs to be turned in by July 31st, the end of the fiscal year. It's for $400+ so I don't want to loose out. Three years ago when I went, I never turned in for the reimbursement.

Four walks in the neighborhood today (our standard walk), 3 with hubby only got me 17K steps - well along with walking in the house doing things.

Yesterday and today was a reprieve from the 90s but they are back tomorrow and into at least next week.

    Sweet dreams.

Hi everyone and good to read all the exercise/movement. Gyms open here in 9 days and I'm working on the new BodyBalance/BodyFlow to open with and lesson plans for Pilates classes and yin yoga. One gym will be live streaming. For Pink Ribbon Pilates and Yoga For Cancer, I 'm starting those back in September because no government guidance/guidelines has been offered for village halls/community spaces that don't fall into the "gym" category. I've had a number of classes cut due to timetable reductions and the nearest local council run leisure centre will not open until a year from now and in consultation to make 137 people who work there redundant. I have/had a two hour weekly contract but feel for those who have worked full time for years there, in all positions. I went on Tuesday morning locally and had a drive-thru coronavirus test that 10 hours later via text and email claimed I was negative - no surprise. I wanted to experience testing (down the throat and up the nose with same swab) an be able to say to my classes I had done it and deemed negative. Let's keep at it!

Karen, our governor just announced that every school district can do what they want, but have to submit & have an Plan A, B, & C ready to go. (We have some really rural schools who have a total of 10 kids in a whole grade, so that does make sense.) I have no idea what our district will do. I can't see myself subbing, at least not at the beginning of the year.

Glad your test came back negative, Lilac. It's good to know even when you are almost certain that you are okay.

Went to Dance2fit this morning, walked dogs & did Zoom Yoga. We have a Heat Alert for tomorrow, not looking forward to that!

Ruth - I think school opening is. a moving target. Things change daily. Denver (or maybe its Colorado is slowly creeping up. I'm no longer convinced that we will start in person. Time will tell. DH is very nervous for me to go back in person - worried about me getting sick and then he would get sick. We aren't higher risk to get it, but higher for it not to be "pretty" as his cardiologist says.

Heating up tomorrow and Saturday :(

    Sweet dreams

Those hats are too much!!! Lilac, someone s very creative.

Nice walk early this morning. Will run with DH in 45 minutes or so. Hopefully it won't be hot then. The other day at 9:00 it was already HOT! The past couple days the temps were decent, but the heatwave, mid to high 90s are back today for the next few days at least.

    Have a great day!

We are having the same weather, Karen, plus a chance for severe storms tonight. I'll be dragging the lawn furniture into the garage and the potted plants into the front entry later today.

We are watching the dogs today (DS is getting some new flooring in his house). We took them for a walk when they arrived bright and early. I then picked up a girlfriend whose birthday it is and took her for a picnic breakfast and a little walk. Now I plan to be inside because it's broiling out!

Weather Underground issued an excessive heat warning for us, temp is only 94 but the heat index is 105. This won't break until Monday when we get thunderstorms.

Lilac - Glad to hear your COVID test was negative. Kudos to you for the classes you are working on. Those hats are too funny! Wonder where they got the knitting pattern?

RuthBru - You sure have some lovely scenery in ND for your walks.

Hot & Humid here in Greater Cincinnati/N KY. High of 90 today & will be 95 on Sunday!

Did Yoga & Zumba (both on Zoom) today. Also, did a Zoom Cooking Class with 2 recipes incorporating plant based ingredients.

    Stay hydrated!

99 yesterday in Denver - didn't quite break the record of 100!!

On Friday, my school district (largest in Colorado announced that the school year is starting online on August 24th for the students. Staff go back on the 10th. The week of the 17th is to connect with students and planning for online learning. Online learning till at least September 8th, but they will revisit that the end of August. Superintendent/school board said they will give parents 2 weeks notice, so by the time the students start back, we should know what will happen in September?! Parents still have the option to choose online learning for the whole year. At first I really wanted to be back in person as I did not enjoy distance learning in the spring, but now it doesn't bother me. Just need to make sure I have the resources I need.

GF coming over this evening for BBQ and beer - first company since before March. We will social distance in the back yard. Other than that the only time we see people is walking in the neighborhood or via zoom!!

    Have a great Sunday!

We had a big storm come through Friday night and that has brought in some lovely, cooler air (only temporary, we go back up by midweek). Saturday, DH & I both actually got to visit our 95 year old friend who lives in a nursing home. We've been calling her, or standing outside her window and yelling in since March. Just a couple weeks ago, they opened it up so, if you make an appointment (and wear and mask and pass a temperature check), ONE visitor can go in and visit for 30 minutes. If you meet outside, then you can have TWO visitors for 30 minutes. Since the weather was perfect, we were able to do that. Luckily her hearing is still fine, otherwise I don't know how you could visit very well with masks on.

I got up early today and took a nice walk. Zoom Barre & Yoga this afternoon.

    Lilac: Those hats! LOL!

My weeks all seem to blur togther. Still walking/running and mowing all in the heat like so many of you.

Our little garden has been producing nicely. We have been eating zucchini, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, some okra, and a few cucumbers. Today I made fresh tomato soup and fresh tomato sauce. I froze the sauce for future use. The blueberries are abundant this year. Been baking loaves of zucchini blueberry bread and even baked a lemon blueberry cake. And I wonder why my weight is up.

This year we used compost from our compost bin in the garden. Well, the garden has been taken over by pumpkins that were in the compost! We have 6 growing so far and they are ripening quickly. I picked one yesterday that's over 8 inches tall. I was going to paint a summer watermelon on it (instead of the fall/Halloween pictures I paint on pumpkins) but it doesn't stand on it's own and has to be propped. So I decided that I'm going to make pumpkin puree and bake a pumpkin pie. In the summer!

    Here is my future pie.

Here in Canada we are only in stage two of opening. So with gyms still closed have had to rely on walking or swimming laps in the backyard pool. This has worked for keeping agile but not kept of those sneaky Covid lbs. 🙈prob that 🍷I had tonight also did not help matters.

After 12 years of not playing have started swinging golf clubs again since gyms here are still closed. 😖But my back has started to revolt against such changes so have to back off again. I originally quit as a lymphadema prevention but now it looks like back pain will be my new motive. 😱

Mumito - where are you at in the Toronto? My DD#1 and SIL are in Toronto

Wonder - blueberry lemon cake sounds yummy!!! If I made it, it would only be me as DH doesn't like lemon, but he does love fresh blueberries. A fond childhood memory is my late grandmother making blueberry pie and telling me that she had to wait to slice it or the blue berries would run. A few years ago a friend grew lots of zucchini, so I made zucchini bread and muffins for her and kept some for me. My tomatoes have not turned red yet - we picked a large very green one the other day. Still not sure if we will get anything from the yellow peppers. Petunias in the waterfall/rock garden are doing great.

Last night my gf came over - we socially distanced on the deck. When we were close (getting food or in the house) we all had masks on. First social even since before DH's surgery and the country shut down. It was really nice to catch up.

Better get busy - need my morning walk and then work in the house. Hope to drop off a car full of donations that are sitting in my living room.

Have a great day - safe safe, stay healthy and stay cool

My latest is that I am doing the Seattle-to-Portland virtually this year, so instead of jamming it into two days, I am doing the 200 miles over 20 days, or rather over 3 weekends. Wonderful rides this past weekend, totaling 75 miles. Summer has finally arrived and it was hot, though less so on Saturday which was along the shoreline in Skagit County, than yesterday which was in the farmland near where I live. I can tell that I haven't been doing the usual amount of cycling as feeling it in my legs today.

Yesterday, I stopped at Carnation Farms and picked up eggs and a couple of veg. They came to no harm, even with the 12 miles back to my car, 35 miles total. Got more vegetables driving back home.

Crunches, weights and 4 miles of walking will be today's exercise. Hope to do some swimming once I can get down the hill to the swimming hole in Duvall. Happy summer! - Claire

Ruth - so encouraging to hear that you were able to have a face-to-face visit with your friend in the nursing home. My mom is in assisted living and we haven't seen each other in person since March. I can see her through a closed window while we chat on the phone. We email several times a day. She is beside herself with boredom.

Wonderland- love hearing about your garden and the surprise pumpkins! You could also make pumpkin purée and freeze it for smoothies or something. Your baking sounds delicious.

Karen - nice memory of your grandmother.

Claire - I love reading about your bike riding and the farm stand visits for vegetables. It sounds so idyllic.

I just recently started to run/walk intervals. My foot has finally healed and my side feels better. I don't know if I mentioned my right side pain. I guess it was from my rocky trail bike ride on 7/4. For a while I thought it was a new medical condition so I was stressed. Finally decided it was just a muscle thing and then it started feeling better. These extra 5-7 lbs are all in my middle and they won't budge even with a simple veggie meals. It could be a lot of things in play - age, menopause, no gym, too much low-impact exercise, the Raloxifene (generic Evista for osteoporosis) and my diet/snacking. So I have to step it up literally. I am running intervals in the morning and intend to lift weights more often and squeeze in some yoga and then try to make those a habit. Cut out the worst snacks.

Mumito, DH didn't golf all last year due to a shoulder issue. He went back this summer and promptly tore a groin muscle. He was so disgusted!

Yum to all the vegetables, blueberries, peaches, and all the other fresh summer produce. Zucchini chocolate cake is fabulous, and you can substitute zucchini for the noodles to make a delicious lasagna. Now I am really hungry!

My flowers are gorgeous at the moment, so I am enjoying them too.

I went to Pound this morning & will Zumba this evening.

Been a while since I have been here - and to be honest, there really has been no exercise the last few weeks. My DH and I went for a beach walk July 1, I was unusually cranky, tired, and had a headache. That evening watching tv, I got chills so bad I was shaking, so I just went to bed - woke up next morning, headache, body aches (we didn't walk that far LOL because I was cranky), and low grade fever. Called doctor, and he ordered a covid test and lyme test. I haven't been paying much attention to covid testing, but turns out it was not so easy to get a covid test! Doctors office scheduled one for the following Tuesday (5 days away!) because of the 4th of July Holiday. Luckily DH stepped up and found me one for the next day (Friday), they said I would get the results Monday, and they would call me either way, and to not call them. Well, no call Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, so I call them Thursday, and they say all the labs are backed up, and test results are taking 8-10 days! In the meantime, I'm feeling the same, get ready for bed and notice I have a rash on the left side of my face, right near my last tick bite - called doctor the next morning, and he puts me on doxycycline, and I start feeling better after a couple of days. Test results come back - 7 days for Lyme (positive), 8 days for covid (negative). A friend makes the joke this is the one time you want Lime without the Corona! Now my only problem is 3 weeks of Doxy so no sun, but I can handle that. A friend of mine just had a Covid test, and the wait time is now 2 weeks! That is absolutely awful, she and her family have to quarantine until she gets a negative result.

In other news, my daughter and family came for a visit last week - she decided to make our house her vacation this year, as we have a pool and a lot of property, and beautiful beaches we go to when the crowds are gone, plus lots of beds for her family. It was wonderful to feel normal again, the grandkids are 12, 11, 9, 2. Lots of two year old hugs and snuggles, bubbles, pool time, scavenger hunts, blueberry picking, etc. DH and I are exhausted, but renewed if you know what I mean. Covid can be very lonely.

So I did classical stretch for 2 days in a row, and mowed the lawn. Hoping to slowly get back on the exercise bandwagon. The deer flies are out, so walking in the neighborhood is off the table, but once I'm done with my antibiotic and can be in the sun again, I'm hoping I can get to the beach and walk.

I don't know how the economy can ever rebound without quick, accurate testing! One wouldn't usually be happy about Lyme Disease, but better than Covid. Sigh.....

We took the dogs for a long walk around a lake, I am soon off to Barre & Dance2fit, and then my Book Club will meet (outdoors). My Book Club is made up of ladies who are or were teachers. I will be interested to hear if the ones still in the classroom have heard anything about what the fast approaching school year.

Pat01 - I hope you’re feeling better. Sounds like a great visit with your daughter and grands.

The neighborhood pool just opened finally. We have to go online to make a reservation. We have been once so far and it was great because there weren’t many people. They put away all the furniture so we have to bring our own chairs if we want them. We don’t spend hours at the pool so it works fine for us. Just glad to get in the water.

After running intervals these last two mornings, my problematic foot hurts so I just walked this morning. Walked at lunch (a wee bit early).

    Good walking day. 17K+ steps

I think I've finished the furnace room. It definitely looks more organized. Decluttered quite a bit of stuff - lots of stuff to shred. Down the road, I'll take the time to go throw my folks stuff to see what I want to keep and what is garbage (marriage licenses, birth certificates etc - sentimental, but do I really want/need to keep. Also kid stuff. Last step is to try to tackle the crawl space. DH thought a lot of the boxes along the wall were my grad school books - but they were tossed last year. Still way too much stuff in there - kids toys, some momentos from my growing up - middle and high school and younger. Baby equipment that my older daughter doesn't want me to get rid of - lke the 34 or 45 year old drop side crib that was hers (as well as her younger siblings), toddler bed and who knows what else - plus all the infant clothes from each of the kids 1st three months. It will be a long process to tackle the crawl space. Also lots of extra baking supplies etc that I bought that I haven't used.

I've also been thinking about how much I want to keep - like my grandmother's china that I've had for 20 years and never used - the china tea cups on display - so many sentimental things that are collecting dust - beginning to feel like a minimalist. Flatware sitting not used (my mother's and my grandmother"s. I have my mother's china as well - I think I want to keep it but would need to get rid of a set of dishes (inexpensive). I'd love for my girls to have some of it but not sure they want it - also the expense to move it so far. It's a long term project to think about.

We had a nice downpour before dinner so the flowers got a nice watering.

2.5 weeks left of summer vacation and I still haven't gotten together with any of my girlfriends.

    Sweet dreams.

I found a YouTube channel full of restorative yoga practices, which made me think of Lilac. I did one this AM after my regular workout b/c the base of my spine and my left hip just hurt all the time. I'm pretty sure it's from having worn a boot for 5 weeks and also trying to walk normally with a carbon plate in my right shoe (it's not really possible to do that).
