    Martaj - so sweet!!

101 record high in Denver on Saturday! Latest 100+ temperature in Denver. Today prediction anywhere 98-100, Monday low 90s and Tuesday 30s (yes 30s) with snow. Storm coming in from Canada. Then Wednesday back to the 50s. Gotta love Denver weather. Going to bring in our hanging baskets, cover the petunias in the garden and bring in my potted tomato plant. Unfortunately, no peppers on the pepper plant, though one teeny one not much larger than a bean and a few flowers so not going to worry about it

Tuesday the ECE kiddos start in person learning. My district has 5 schools that are just ECE and kdg begin tomorrow and the ECE classes in elementary schools start on the 14th. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Right now the positivity rate is about 2% so the numbers are good, but I wonder what is going to happen after this long week-end as as weather gets colder. DH is worried about me going back in person. It's not till mid October, unless it's for testing. Thursday they gave out PPE packages, - 1 mask, 2 face shields, disinfectant spray and wipes. Supposedly we'll get masks weekly and we will be required to be tested 2 weeks before we go back to school then every 2 weeks. I'm worried too, but if the number stay low, I think I could be okay. I have a meeting with my supervisor coming up to talk about accommodations. I only requested PPEs, but you could also ask for remote work. All meetings, IEP meetings will be done via google meets, paperwork can be done at home etc. There is still time to see what happens.

More hiking today. Will post pictures after the week-end. Have a great day!

Have been doing lots of exercising this past week. Silver Sneakers now has around 36 classes offered throughout the week. Have added some of their offerings to my usual complement of local cancer center Zoom offerings. Guess the exercise is paying off. At my RO visit last week, the PA remarked she cI ould see that my core was getting strong. Hey, I am on my way to that 6-pack (just joking, or as close as this soon-to-be 66 year old can get).

Karen - I really feel for the teachers during these COVID times. Have felt for a long time that teachers do not get paid enough or receive enough credit for all they do. From me to you - kudos for all you are doing teaching these young minds!

    That is awesome, Celia!

I am logging all my food on my Fitbit ap to try to chisel off the Covid Pounds. So easy to gain weight, so hard to lose!! I cleaned the house, did yard work & in-between went to a Pound & a Zumba class. Today I took a long walk with as many hills & steps as I could find. Doing Zoom Yoga in a few minutes & then will sit around and be slothful. Winking

    Hi all-

Happy Birthday, Martaj and Happy Anniversary, Karen!

I started back to school on the 26th for staff PD days. K-8th grade Students started on Thursday, 9/3. We did two days of preschool screening and now preschool starts up this week. I got lots of steps in those days which was a bonus.

It was so good to have kids around in school again and so far it seemed to go well. Our town has had a low number of cases (22 Total since March) and we are in school 5 days a week but with smaller class sizes. I am anxious to meet my students and get started. Fingers crossed that we all stay healthy. We have masks, face shields for toileting, cleaning and disinfecting materials as well as a few plexiglass table dividers. The trick is balancing safety and the social needs of young children.

Enjoyed a lazy day yesterday at home and a quiet beach day today. Blankets nicely spaced away from others with gorgeous weather.

Our YMCA is starting back up with more group classes including Zumba spread out in the gym. Really looking forward to it if we can all stay healthy. So far I have just done a couple of parking lot Zumba classes.

Crazy, crazy weather in Denver/Colorado. Record highs F,S,S. 97 - 101 (101 on Saturday). Today lower 90s. Tomorrow in the 30s with snow, with accumulations anywhere from 2 to 6 inches. Most likely won't stick on the roads as it's been so hot, but on the grass and trees. Tree damage and power outages are possible. We are going to bring in all our hanging baskets, potted tomato plants and cover all the petunias in the back garden. Wednesday it starts warming up and by the week-end, back to the 80s. 73 days in the 90s since May.

Ginger - my school district has 5 schools that are just ECE and KDG. They return in person tomorrow. The rest of the ECE classes are in ECE-5 school and they start back on the 14th. It will be interesting to see how it goes. As of now, K-12 is remote through October 16th. Wonder if it will happen with the predicted increase in cases with cold weather. The only accommodations that I've asked for are all the necessary PPE. Thursday and tomorrow are pick up days for PPE for my department. They gave us 2 face shields, 1 mask, disinfecting spray and wipes. Supposed to get a new mask weekly. There will be some plexiglass shields for testing. We are supposed to be tested 2 weeks before we return and then every 2 weeks. No parents or visitors allowed in buildings. I wonder how that will affect SSPs (SW. Psych, S/L etc) who have more than one building. I'm supposed to meet with my manager this week. I think if cases stay low, I'll be okay going back - but. do worry if cases increase. I missed the kiddos, looking through a screen is just not the same. but so much unknown. GOOD LUCK tomorrow.

It's been a nice week-end. Have a great Labor Day.

Ha, Karen! I think your weather is even goofier than ours! I'm going to cover my plants for the next few nights as we have frost & freeze warnings. I am not ready to throw in the towel yet as it is supposed to warm back up after that.

Welcome back, mumito. I am back taking classes at my gym. Class sizes are limited, you have to per-register & the floor is marked off as to where you have to stand. They are cleaning all the time, have wipes and sanitizing stations all over the place, you enter & exit through different staircases, machines are all spaced out etc. etc. I go right before class, don't stay and visit afterward, use sanitizer on the way out, again once I'm in my car & wash my hands as soon as I get home......so I do feel pretty safe......

A friend of mine is showing up in a few minutes & we are going for a walk. (It is nor very nice out, but the gym is closed for Labor Day.) I may do a short Pilates DVD later.

Hello all! It’s been at least 50 pages since I posted here🤭! Fell off the fitness wagon with a soft tissue injury in Feb 2019 and have had a really hard time climbing back on. That being said, a work friend and I have started meeting every weeknight for a walk. So, last Thursday, Friday, yesterday and tonight so far. Thursday was just over two miles, tonight was just under 3.5. Managed to hit the perfect window between big green rain blobs.

Hi Sweet!! It always helps to check in, I think.

It was 28 degrees when I got up, so I spend the morning putting away the sleeveless tops & dragging out more fall-like apparel. We walked the dogs this afternoon (who enjoy the cooler weather) & I went to Barre Sculpt tonight. One more cold night & then it will warm up again.....so we aren't into Endless Winter yet, thank goodness.

Sweets, good to see you checking in and HeidiHill, missing you - how is it going?

Had the first Pink Ribbon Pilates class yesterday at our new facility/location, as the yoga studio who offered us free space has gone under due to Covid. We now have necessary booking on our website and the hall we use is 10, so I can have 9 participants. I had 7 in attendance and they were thrilled to see each other and catch up. I also had our first Yoga For Cancer class and that was with 1 woman who is a regular. This class is for those who are living with a stage IV diagnosis. I had four regular members and three of them are either recovering from surgery, or waiting for surgery with physical issue that keep them from attending. That has now changed as of last night. The UK is trying to stem the rise of cases that we are experiencing. As of last night, the government announced gatherings of more than six to be banned in England. This goes into effect on Monday. I have no idea as to what this means for grocery shopping and can see the long lines returning and toilet paper hording. This may be the final nail in the coffin for one gym I teach at. My charity classes can continue, I can reduce numbers. Not sure about the five classes at the two large gyms I freelance at. At dinner last night, dh talked of the 10% of company wide workforce firings that happened at his office. Another round of employee reductions are scheduled for the start of 2021. On top of that, the development of a promising Covid-19 vaccine has been put on hold due to an adverse reaction in a trial participant. I'm still working on the new release - hey a girl can dream, right?

Ruth - yup, Denver weather is crazy - one of DDs bff when she was out to visit several years ago said Denver weather is bi-polar (bff lives in NY). We brought in all our hanging baskets, tomato plants (still lots of green tomatoes) and pepper plant (not sure why cuz no peppers) and covered all the petunias. We got the cold, but not much snow. Yesterday morning, we had rain and then some snow later in the day, but not what they predicted. By Sunday we'll be back in the 80s!!

The district is now talking how to bring back Sped and SSPs to do evaluations before the rest of the district returns in mid October. Makes me a little nervous, but they have included all the necessary PPEs in the plan.

Well, best get going if I want a walk/run this morning.

    Stay safe and stay warm.

I taught in a classroom yesterday for the first time since March 3rd...wonderful and weird all at once...and the longest time I have been out of a classroom since starting kindergarten in 1966!

28 degrees Ruth?...I was loving it this weekend when we had our first overnight lows in the High 60's! It has now started to rain and the rain to continue until Tuesday of next week.

Have been getting to 5-6 classes a week between the two yoga/pilates studios that I have memberships with...one place has a max of 6, the other a max of 8. Given those low numbers, the studio that only allows 6 is going to start live streaming classes again...they stopped when we were able to go back to the studio...as many still don't feel comfortable going back.

Just read an article in the Wash Post about the 1918 flu...and how things really didn't return to normal until 1922+...let's hope we get a drug that allows for a safer/quicker transition.

Happy return to school/early fall, stay safe. TT

Here’s an encouraging article about the value of exercise and strength training on the immune system. I searched online for this article so that I could attach a link for better viewing. But hopefully, if anyone out there needs encouragement, they can read this okay.

    Karen: Your weather is crazy!

Sweet: Good to see you again. Keep up the good work.

TT: I loved the weather this past weekend. Good reminder of what is to come.

LB: ScaredSadBawling It's all so sad.

Hi Everyone! I've been walking/kinda running (too hot and humid!) regularly. Also push mowing every 6 days. Really looking forward to less humid days. I'm dripping wet after mowing and not worth much the rest of the day.

Happy Birthday to my DIEP breast! Had a 9 hour surgery on 9/9/09. I'm glad that's way behind me now.

It was brisk but sunny with no wind this morning. Here's a picture of the Wednesday Walking Women having breakfast in an opening of the tree claim where we walked. DH & I will probably walk the dogs this afternoon & I will take in a class tonight.

My 89 year old aunt died yesterday, the result of age + Covid. Her family has decided to wait until spring (if the virus is under control) to have a funeral gathering (they live in Wisconsin). I am very relieved. I would really want to attend, but right now North Dakota is a hot spot, and I would be very nervous about bring germs along with me if I traveled right now.

    Ruth- sorry for your loss.

Karen and Ruth- Brrr. It’s really hot and humid here I could do with slightly cooler temps but not that cold!

Lilac- hoping your studios stay up and running. Groups less than 6 is a pretty strict guideline.

TrmTab- I had my first day back with preschoolers today too. It felt so good to be back in person. We have been out since March 12th. Fingers crossed we can keep the numbers down.

    Welcome, MelindaMay.

TrmTab thank you for the 1918 flu comparison, something I wonder about; how long until this Covid-19 nightmare is over? Had two teachers in my class last night and both say they are getting plans are in place, for a possible to return to lockdown-ugh. This week has gone by fast for me.

    Welcome sweetandspecial and MelindaMay!

Just finished my classes for the day - Restorative Yoga this AM, then Silver Sneakers Bodyweight Boot Camp at 4:30 and Silver Sneakers BOOM Mind at 5:30. Feeling good. The various Silver Sneakers Zoom offerings are really adding to my daily workout schedule.

    Happy workouts to all!

Wonder - happy birthday/anniversary to your "girls" - yup, Denver weather is crazy - we might see the 90s next week!!

Ruth - condolences on your aunt. May her memory be for a blessing.

Melinda - glad that you found us

Lilac - I sure hope it doesn't take 4 years to rebound and get back to some "normalcy"

Ginger and Trm - the ECE kiddos in my district started this week and next. They might bring elementary back sooner than middle and high school. In person testing is now allowed. I"m nervous, yet miss the in person contact. I've asked for accommodations and my manager has been great about providing - not sharing an office with anyone, limit the number of buildings I'm in.

It's only been a 3 day work week for me but I'm more tired than a full week. Today I had 3 different meetings in a row that was 4 hours - then kids in the afternoon who didn't log on and another meeting to observe my intern to end the day. I need to do some work tomorrow and Sunday to catch up.

Stay safe everyone. So many wildfires!!!

My cousin wanted some family pictures, so I spent a nostalgic morning going through old photo albums. We walked the dogs this afternoon & I went to Dance2fit and Yoga in the Park (which was not as peaceful as it usually is because mosquitoes were swarming around us....a whole lot of swatting going on).

Gorgeous weather in Denver today. Nice long walk and 8 flights of stairs this morning. Went for labs for my med oncologist this morning - I have 2 - I see the second oncologist next Friday(he likes to draw labs a week before visit) and I see my BC med oncologist next month (who usually draws labs same day) - finally they did both sets of labs at the same time. The phlebotomist who has been drawing my labs or years asked where my veins went?. They've been getting smaller and smaller in my left arm after labs for 14+ years - I have at least 4/year so we had to move to right arm (BC side and axillary dissection). I'm not worried. B/Ps I'll keep doing on my left arm. I've been on antibiotics since Wednesday for a bladder infection so I hope that doesn't interfere with the labs.

Tomorrow is the 1st yazrheit for my late MIL (date of death of Hebrew calendar). She passed away one week before Rosh Hashanna. My husband normally would go to synagogue for the yarzheit but he is really nervous about it since tomorrow, being Shabbat is a longer service than during the week. His father's yarzheit was last month and he went to synagogue but it was a week-day. What a year it has been! Today is 6 months since his open heart surgery.

We always talk to DD#2 on Friday mornings. She is the one in Israel. I feel so bad for her. Israel is voting tomorrow and most likely will go on lock down on Friday, the eve of Rosh Hashannah. Can only go 500 meters from home and a whole list of other restrictions. She was supposed to go to a family friend for Rosh Hashannah but that has been cancelled due to the lockdown. Thankfully one of her roommates is also in Israel - she just came back from the States so she won't be alone. She can have company if they live in her building or the building next door. Her other 2 roommates are in America. I feel bad for her. She told her dad that her life s****. She was plannng on vacationing during the holiday break from school - camping etc. She lost out on Passover as Israel was also on lockdown then. The lockdown is going to kills small businesses and restaurants. My husband has a friend who has a small family business since the 1930s and told my husband that 80% of their income is from tourists during Passover and Sukkot holidays and now he is going to loose out again. Part of the reason for the lock down is there is a rise in cases and also there are groups of people who ignore the rules and would celebrate the holidays in large groups so therefore everyone has to endure the lockdown. Sorry for going on and on!

Best get busy. I need to start a couple online course and need to write up a SOP (stand operating procedure) for an assessment before Thursday. I guess I'll also be working on Sunday. I haven't worked after work hours at all this year. Being on the computer is so draining. My manager and I met the other day to write my accommodations when we go back in person and she sent them to personal today. I'll be in person 2 days and remote 2 days. I'll have my own work space (no sharing offices), any work that can be done remotely will be done remotely and a couple other things that I forget. So I'll see some kiddos in person and do testing in person. That is if we go back in person mid October. DH heard Dr. Fauci on the news this morning saying to expect a rise in cases in October. Waiting to begin of October to get my flu shot.

    Have a great Friday.
