Karen, I feel so sorry for your DD and all young people who should be out traveling, exploring, and having adventures. Actually I feel sorry for everyone. My aunt's funeral won't be until April (her birthday) and that's if things settle down. The state she lived in doesn't allow more than 25 people (including the clergy, musicians etc.) to be inside a church/temple/funeral home/gathering space. She was involved in so many activities that her children want it to be a real celebration of her life. Sigh.

DH & I took a field trip to a state park neither of us had ever been to before. Very nice groomed hiking trails, beautiful scenery, a nice cool day.......very fun & my Fitbit says 16,000 steps as a bonus.

Ruth - Thank you so much, Ruth! 16000 steps really help us keep fit. Seeing others passed by and reminding me a movie I saw--Yesterday is histoty, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that's why it was called 'the present'. So we all should seize the day and be happy:) Yes, I have bought a wig on toupee.com already and I am just waiting it arrives, I feel full of energy because I have something to expect, I found it is so important at my age to find something to chase and relax ourselves, I think shopping is the second important thing except our families.

Ginger, Lilac - Thank you for your warm welcome!

Celia - Thank you! Yoga seems to be another good choice which I would like to try in the future.

Karen - Haha, got you! You had really busy hours, pls remember to relax yourself!

My grandson cameback last weekend, so good to see him, we cooked and chat hours, then he hugged me and get back to ready for his Monday's work in the evening. It is rainy yesterday, but I love rainy days, just standing and watching the rain falls.Best wishes to you all!

The second day of school it was 88 and humid in our classroom. So glad it’s cooling down some now. The “not knowing how it would go” back to school stress which caused a lot of restless sleep nights has now given me a case of shingles. I had it in January and this time it is in the same place.

I did go to Zumba and just did it in a low intensity way. The music and energy in the room is good for my spirit. Taking it easy the rest of the weekend.

karen- I do feel for your daughter and all those not getting the experiences they’ve been waiting for.

Zumba this morning and digging through more family pictures this afternoon. I've found some that I didn't even know I had!

Ginger, can you guys use fans in your rooms? Our teachers can't and it's like an oven in some of those rooms, especially on the third floor. My old room didn't have windows at all, so I can't even imagine how miserable that has been!

Welcome MelindaMay! Since the air quality here leaves a lot to be desired, I spent today finally doing a carpet deep clean with the rented carpet cleaner. Loving the result, but have to wait another day or so before I can put everything back together. I am counting this as exercise, especially the furniture-moving part.

Project #2 is tomorrow which is bolting my new headboard to the bedframe, which requires taking everything apart, including mattress and box springs and also adjusting the height of the wall hanging. So a stepladder and vacuuming for what's under the bedframe will be in order. Also hanging one other item prior to returning the step ladder which I have borrowed from the nonprofit.

The little things that make all the difference. Especially since I dust everything as I put my place back together. Think I will pick up some fresh flowers along with the milk I am dashing out the door to get. - Claire

Sunday and sunny warmish morning. The below is what starts in England tomorrow. They have exempt gyms that are covid safe. Both gyms I work in are listed as such. Schools are exempt with 18 exemptions total. Thinking of going to the gym later to practice the new release as the studio is free from 11am onwards. Have a good Sunday everyone.

Walked on the treadmill while unfortunately watching the Vikings football game (unfortunately because they played rotten & lost). My Zoom Zumba class was canceled (technical difficulties) so I did a 55 minute Yoga DVD with Denise Austin.

Fall is definitely in the air - as hot as it got today, the morning and this evening were cool. Easier to take high 80s and 90s when its cool morning and evening. Had a fairly big to do list today and got a lot down, but none of the work stuff I wanted to do - now I'm too tired.

Really missing my kids, knowing no one is coming for any of the holidays, so I spent time this afternoon looking for reasonable gift packages to send them. Shipping is crazy - thankfully I found something I liked for each one, even the two not in America. Usually I don't do things like this, but next month is a year since I saw my DD#1 and SIL. Haven't seen DD#2 since winter break (we went to see her)- she hasn't been in America for a year, and I haven't seen my son since February.

Rosh Hashanna starts Friday night through Sunday night. With just the 2 of us, don't need to cook so much food. DH fired up the smoker today and we smoked 2 whole chickens, several thighs and legs, several turkey necks (DH loves, not me thank you) and 2 small briskets. The freezer will be full once everything is in there. The briskets are 3# each, but we will cut them in half so it's actually like having 4. Planning out my menu and we'll have brisket Friday night, baby chicken (basically boneless thighs) Saturday and salmon Sunday. I'm not positive on sides yet. I'm bringing sides to my 88 year old friend and her 64 year old son who doesn't know how to boil water!!!! People are cooking for them.

Had labs drawn Friday for oncologist #1 and #2. I see oncologist #2 on the 18th and my breast oncologist beginning of October - my potassium was very elevated, so I need to see pcp tomorrow to have potassium checked again. Hoping the number Friday was just some random error. My potassium was 6.6 and anything over 6.0 is considered very high. Not sure what they do for high potassium - but not going to go there just yet. I would settle for boring!!!

    Sweet dreams

catching up - Thursday was a long walk. Friday was a 1.5 mile woods walk (shin splints are really acting up). Saturday was a bust - was up way early to drive DH to airport for butt-crack of dawn flight for his annual hunting trip in Colorado. Was home about 8:00am. Took two naps and binge-watched ‘Endeavour’ in between and after naps 😌. Yesterday was church, then put on my old shoes and paint clothes and set to work cleaning the garage (this is somewhat of a tradition while DH is out west - get sick of the mess and dirt). I took the week off too and today spent 7 hours painting the handrail and spindles on the deck today. We have a large deck around 3 sides of the house and have not painted before. Soooo, 1st coat is sucking right in and it’s taking forever because the squarish spindles are about 1.5” apart. Didn’t get nearly as much done as I had hoped but will be spending every day this week on it. Also did a 2.43 mile walk up and down a steep hill at a local park with my friend tonight. Ten ups and 10 downs took about 55 minutes. Reminded me very much of the Macchu Pichu trek I did with my son in 2002.......

    Sleep well my friends

Hope everyone is staying out of harm's way in pandemics, forest fires, and smoke. We are getting our second wave and it's just September. Oh well...

I've scheduled a flu shot for the second week of October. I'm still afraid they'll run out and I will need to scrounge for it where it is less in demand. Like somewhere in the boondocks.

We were out on the bike last Sunday and I took a spill. Now I'm back at the physiotherapist. Nothing serious. Life goes on.

We have hazy sunrises out here because of the smoke from out West. Checked in on all friends and family out there and they are safe.

Think my exercise will be picking up soon as by the end of the week I am getting my new puppy!

I've continued lifting, but my broken foot still hurts. I did get the bone growth stimulator, it's a lot smaller than the one I had to use for my fractured pelvis. Fingers crossed that when I see the podiatrist in a couple of weeks that the bone is healing. Oh and I'm on Tymlos now for my bones--yay, daily injections for two years. And boy I'm glad I have decent insurance, that stuff is $$$$.

edj - ouch - to daily shots and the bone stimulator - hope you get the news you want at the podiatrist.

I got my results from my repeat potassium - thank goodness the results were WNL. I sure didn't want to add another Dx or "ologist" to my already long list!!!

Gosh, edj, hope your bones start to behave themselves!!

We took the grandpuppies on a hike on a trail right outside of town. It's a beautiful time of the year here. Went to Barre Sculpt tonight.

Busy exercise day today. (SS = Silver Sneakers) Yoga & Relaxation, Barre/Lates, (break for 3.5 hrs), SS Body Weight Boot Camp and SS BOOM Mind. Tomorrow's schedule: Pilates & Relaxation, SS Stability, (break for 3 hrs), SS Cardio Mix. I am liking this mix.

Has anyone tried the SS BOOM Muscle? If so, looking for your opinion.

edj, I hope you have drilled down into SE's of Tymlos. HeidiHill, hope you mend quick and good to see you posting. Ruth, they don't look like puppies any longer! Celia, looks like a good strength program - go for it!

Studying for the postural stability course I'm on (exam and practical days in two weeks time), continuing to get choreography down pat for BodyBalance/Flow United that will be delivered this Saturday and teaching Pilates in Folkestone tonight.

Just a quick stop by to say HI. feeling totally overwhelmed with work and the Rosh Hashanna starting Friday night. It's early, but going to try to do a little work before I go for a run and start the official work day.

LilacBlue I sure have. This regime is a balancing act for sure. You guys may remember that my broken foot is the second bone I've broken while running--no trips, no falls, no stumbles. The bones just broke. It's frustrating because my DEXA values aren't horrible, they aren't perfect but I'm at the very lightest end of osteoporosis.

So yes, Tymlos (or Forteo) can only be taken for two years because of the risk of a specific kind of bone cancer increases at the two year mark.

Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to Prolia, which was my first drug of choice. I opted for the Tymlos over Reclast because it causes the bones to rebuild themselves, not just stop the osteoporosis. Once I've finished the two year plan, then I have to switch to Reclast to maintain what I gained. If I take nothing, I'll lose all that rebuilt bone mass.

So fingers/toes crossed, I haven't traded one bad health issue for another.

Mommyof2- looking forward to seeing pics of your new puppy. Sounds adorable and fun!

Edj3 - I am 6 months into taking generic form of Evista for osteoporosis. I think you mentioned Evista before and it that it wouldn’t work for you. Also taking vitamins for my bones. It’s a wing and a prayer.

Went hiking in Virginia over a 4 day weekend this past weekend. A little rainy but overall great and fun.

Last night I ran with my husband’s running club. I’m trying to get back in shape and even though the weather was perfect, I was bringing up the rear. I am way older than all of the women in the group. I’m old enough to be the mother of one of them. So it’s not my favorite thing to do, but under the circumstances, it’s the only social option I have.

Waiting for a new gym to open and I will probably join. Re-committing to my eating plan and trying to fit in strength and flexibility exercise.

Yep I tried tamoxifen, which would have helped my bones, but my side effect was dangerously high spikes in my heart rate within about 30 seconds of starting my run. I'm an avid distance runner and I've tracked my heart rate for years so I know what's normal and what's not. 189 beats per minute is NOT normal for me during any run.

A fun walk with the Walking Women today followed by breakfast around the firepit in one of the ladies backyard. I am hosting my Book Club in my backyard tonight. It's pretty brisk so I hope everyone bundles up. I don't know what we'll do when winter hits!

Another 6 hours of painting today followed by just under 2.5 miles up and down steep hill 10 times with my friend Rhonda. Rhonda and I have worked together for many years, and she was actually my manager for about a year until my recent promotion to a management position. We get along fabulously, work very closely together and recently committed to walking together every weeknight. Not sure what we’ll do when colder weather and the time change hit but will figure something out. She has a treadmill and a peloton and I have a treadmill and elliptical, so We may take turns at each other’s houses. Time will tell.

Love to all, sounds like everyone is keeping busy. Love the puppy pix! Stay well myfriends 😊
