My Garmin died this morning right before I headed out for my speed walking. So I said screw it, and ran instead. We'll see if that was a foolhardy decision!

It's currently 14F and fees like -2F. Way too cold to run this morning. We will walk later and I'll bundle up in snow pants and my long down coat. I used my Cubii for an hour this morning. I love it. I put my Fitbit on my show to track my steps. got 6K+.
Lots of reports to write today and get ready for a training I'm doing Tuesday.
The SP I'm covering for, keeps extending her maternity leave...Originally she was coming back the end of September then she changed to end of October and now its through the. rest of the semester (pending HR approval. Between meetings, the two schools I'm covering and 2 legal cases I'm covering, I feel overworked. Can't get everything done in 4 days. I was hoping to have time after next week. Oh well.
Best get busy - and start getting my reports done. Have a great day and stay safe.

Can you decline doing the rest of her leave? When I was teaching, I couldn't have done my job plus somebody else's both at the same time!!! Argh, makes me nervous just thinking about that scenario!
It's 18F here and feels like 10, so you win in the BRRRRRR department, Karen. Maybe I will close the computer down & go on the treadmill for awhile. I have Zoom Yoga this afternoon & later need to move as much furniture as I can into closets, the kitchen, and basement because I am getting my upstairs carpet cleaned tomorrow.

The snow is supposed to start here this afternoon or tonight....need to get a walk in this am!

Greetings to all! Just flipping channels here, and saw the snow in CO for the Denver Broncos vs Kansas City football game! Karen and ruthbru - BRRRRR!
Nothing new here. Cloudy here today, but 54 for the high. Last week, we had two days where temps were high 70s/low 80s and we had to turn on the A/C. Continuing with my mix of Zoom exercise offerings daily. Staying in and staying safe here in Northern Kentucky (just south of Cincinnati, OH).
Everyone stay safe out there!

Arrived to my Florida home on Friday. I haven't been here in 2 years being last year doing chemo and such. Sooo nice but soo hot. 92 yeaterday, high 80's today. So much yard work needed to be done being I wasn't here last year. Looks good this afternoon, then went in pool for many laps to relax my tired muscles. We live in RI in the summer and west coast Florida in winter. Feeling great but pooped

Got my exercise in today by switching out my Summer/Winter clothes.

My workout plan for tomorrow morning is walking (i use walking dvds and really work up a sweat with them). If I have enough energy, I will also do 20 min of yoga right before lunch.

Ruth - yup, we beat ND in cold temp - at dinner time it was 11 but felt like -3. Teens again tomorrow. Not too much snow, but it's still coming down. Loving my Cubii - got lots of steps with it (I tie my Fitbit with my shoelaces) and DH and I bundled up for one late morning walk. I bought the mat that is extra so it doesn't slide on the tile or wood floors (we don't have carpeting on the main floor but do in the basement 2 bedrooms.
My position is Float SP There are 4 full time float SP, I'm 4 days and a couple 2 days. Its really a great team. This is my 5th year as a float and I'll stay in the position till I'm done working!! I cover FMLA, vacancies, help with testing and some district (legal) cases which I love. So I'm not doing my job and someone else's job, but covering her maternity leave is part of my job. I just want to give the schools notice that I'll be there till winter break. I need to be added to whole school emails etc. I'm doing a crisis training on Tuesday and once it's done, I'll feel a lot better. I put in too many hours trying to get organized for the training and writing a report today. Will go through the training early tomorrow morning and after work one more time. I'm co-teaching and we each have out sections to do. Solid busy day tomorrow, but I do have some time to watch the day 1 trainers.
cm2020- my exercise tomorrow will be my Cubii. Too cold and slippery to run in the morning - maybe at 4 after work - but it's warming up all week to the 60s by Friday.
Sweet dreams

Karen: Good to know how much you like your Cubii. Sounds like a good alternative when you can't go outside for a walk.
Hi Everyone! Enjoyed my walk/run this afternoon. It was 70 degrees and felt delightful.

I worked out as planned today. First walked and later yoga.
Tomorrow will be walking. I feel SO much better when I work out. Must remember that always!

I am glad that you are already seeing the benefits of exercise cm!
I got a haircut this morning, followed by a dentist appointment, followed by Zumba. It is unseasonably cold here & I'm getting a kick out of a new reporter on a local station who moved here from Georgia during the summer. Every morning, he tells a horrifying tale of scrapping off the car, driving on snow etc. This morning he announced that he wore TWO coats to work!

Poor dude, Ruth! He needs to understand things like THE MIRACLE OF THE LONG UNDERWEAR and related topics. Not to mention getting a scraper that is up to the job.
But doubt he will hang around long enough to understand the finer points. Lots of Vermont jokes on similar subjects.
I have my Subaru WRX, Rexxie, ready to go for skiing as soon as that happens.
I finally bit the bullet and turned on the heat here for a couple of hours. In the 30s and 40s....more December than October weather. But it's been glorious out. My favorite time of year.
Only a 4 mile walk today. Forgot to mention that I saw three deer while doing Saturday's cycle. Yesterday, it was pigs at the pumpkin patch/corn maze where I stopped for veggies. They still had some very delicious corn.
Just found out that I can stay INDOORS at the vineyard for next weekend, so where I will be going. Indoor plumbing will be a super treat as will be a real bed. Just need to pay a couple of fees. So glad as I don't want to be anyplace urban with everything going on.
Plus, I get to be useful. Did I mention that winery work is exercise?? I have a good scraper in case it's that icy. But hoping to hike the canyon and do a bit of cycling in addition to helping out.
Let us know how soon weather dude bails - Claire

edj3, any knock back on the foot from the run? Martaj, nice to read of life back to what you used to have! Karen, hope you don't get run to much into the ground. It's term break over here with kids off school for a week or two - also a much needed break for staff and teachers. Ruth, I could never live in the cold temps that you do.
I'm coming up for air as my course is finished. I went on Sunday to London for the last of it - our teaching assessment, that included a detailed lesson plan and health & safety risk assessment plan. I got home last night. I took a black taxi ( a new electric one and felt like we were gliding across London) from London St Pancras station to the Best Western in Vauxhall and back to stay out and off of the underground as London is now tier 2 lockdown (where I live is tier 1). So that added almost £50 to the cost of this course. Now I wait four week for the results - the final hoop complete. We are deep into our second bathroom renovation and have set us back because the floor tiles I picked out were awful, so had to order new ones and there ya go. Lot's of dust, workers in at the crack of dawn with numerous cups of tea greasing the wheels!
Teaching Pilates and yin yoga with yoga Nidra today (I include nidra in my yin on the last class of the month) at the gym that is barely hanging on by a thread and then across town to community centre for Yoga For Cancer. My son (his first time!) and myself have voted and we got an email that US election votes have been counted! Happy Tuesday everyone!

Walking the dog today and taking up a few things to the attic that we don’t need now.

Good morning everyone!
Just finished 30 min of strength and will run after work this afternoon. Thought about running this morning but its still dark and 14*F with a real feel of -6*. It gets windy today but the temp will be a balmy 32*/ feel like 15* so that may be a few less layers! Ruth are you as ready as me for our warmer temps this weekend?!
Edj hope your run went well and foot feels good!
Claire your weekend sounds great! Enjoy!
My Halloween live, small, in person half went virtual so will run that this weekend. Planning it to be more of a training run now, I have my virtual St Jude half in 5wks so will just keep my mileage up for that race. I get my flu shot Friday evening so thinking i could be stiff and sore and it may not be a great 13.1 anyway. I didn't want to take the refund they offered,n like so many small businesses these races are suffering greatly and I am doing my best to continue to support our local races and directors. I can't wait for the day there are actual races again!
Happy Tuesday!

Runner, my DH & I got our flu shots two weeks ago and had zero side effects, so hopefully that will be the case for you too. Reminder to all, if you haven't gotten your flu shot yet......get 'er done!!! Yes, I will be very happy to have some milder weather for awhile. It's too early for wind-chills to have minus signs in front of them!
Claire, the news guy is actually being a good sport & brings a little chuckle to his audience. We'll see if he can keep his cheerful attitude once real winter sets in.
Lilac, we are getting a new bathtub and surround in our main bathroom. We remodeled the rest of it a couple years ago. The guy will come in and remove the old one the first day, put the new one in day two, and be done!! We are far down on the list (home improvement businesses are about the only businesses who have done well during the pandemic). I am going to repaint the bathroom before that happens so have been bringing home piles of paint samples, Decisions, decisions!
I had the carpet professionally cleaned yesterday & it is now dry so I can put everything back in place.....I might as well dust etc. and get all the housecleaning over with at the same time. Cold or not, this afternoon I think we will grab the grand-dogs for a brisk walk. I get puppy withdrawal after awhile if we haven't hung out with them. Barre Sculpt tonight.

Yesterday I made Day # 200. That's over 800 miles. I'd planned to celebrate with something fancy for dinner, but just had a large spinach salad. Since it's cooler (actually 64 this morning), I've upped my game and now walk 4-6 miles instead of 3-4. My niece who is 30+ years younger is running 10-20 miles a couple of times a week in training for a marathon. She pointed out that I've actually covered more ground than she has.

Good for you, Minus!
My Georgia news guy just reported he did two things wrong today: He forgot his hat, and wore ankle socks. Seriously, I am watching the news for his daily weather-related updates.

Ankle socks - OMG!!! Ruth - how nice to start winter with professionally cleaned carpet.

Ruth what news station does this guy work for? I have been bad about watching local lately! I hope I fair well with flu shot. Some years bo side effects, some years I do. I turn 50 in Dec so will go get shingles then. I have heard the 2nd shingles shot can be a little tough. But better than shingles, right!
Minus..Awesome job!! Congrats! I am tracking my running mileage for 2020. I am over 1,000 miles so far and should finish between 1200-1300 for the year. Fingers crossed I remain healthy! So fun to track mileage. You get to celebrate those milestones!!

Runner, he's on CBS. He's was on in the morning & at noon today. I've seen him do interviews shown on the evening news too. Last weekend he interviewed the Cross Country girl's three time champion (who is from my town) on the sports show. She was wearing her sleeveless top & shorts and he was all bundled up (in fairness to him, it WAS a cold day. He had been watching the race, and she had just run as fast as she could for her title).
I just got done really cleaning the house (breaking one lamp globe in the process) & now it's off to walk dogs).

Ruth, I am getting such a kick out of your reports on the Georgia dude. Please continue to keep us informed of his antics.
Runnermum....I got the first shingles vaccine about a month ago (got my flu shot at the same time...I do not recommend that). I have the second on in December. I have also heard the second one is worse. I got a fever with the shingles/flu shots. I felt horrible for about 24 hours. Not sure which one caused the issues, but since I have never had an issue with the flu shot, I am blaming shingles. Like you said, better than shingles though!
Walked today as planned. Tomorrow I will walk and also yoga.

I had the original shingles shot Zostavax several years ago before this new combo came out. So then I had to have Shots 1 & 2 of the Shringrex vaccine. I didn't have any side effects from any of the shingles vaccines, but I did have SEs with the flu shot - this year in particular.
0 -
With the first Shringrex shot I did not feel good the next day......same with the second shot. Both my mother & sister had TERRIBLE cases of shingles (in fact, my sister has re-occuring nerve pain from it), so I was happy with the not-feeling-good-for-one-day alternative!

Claire: Sounds like you have a fabulous weekend planned. Glad you get to sleep inside. Would love to see pigs running around in a pumpkin patch.
Ruth: ND is going to have so much fun watching the weatherman from GA! I bet he gets fan mail advising him what to wear.
Runner: Good luck this weekend! Don't know how you do it in such cold weather.
MinusTwo: Way to Go!
M0mmy: I like your banister!
LB: I love to read about your courses. You are such a safe leader in so many ways.
cm: When I don't feel like going for my walk/run, I always remind myself that I will feel so much better afterwards.
Dh and I mowed today. Even though it was 68 degrees, I was sweating like it was summer. The grass is still thick.

I just looked up my young reporter. He's from South Carolina, not Georgia.....so a tiny bit further north. Runner, he's the Morning Reporter/ Noon Anchor at Valley News Live.

I am excited too, especially the part about sleeping inside. My last camping adventure was pushing the season. I should get to see the full moon in all its glory. Hopefully, I won't fall into the vats of fermenting apples or grapes, though it would be quite the cautionary tale!
4.5 miles of walking today. The trees are still glorious here, though definitely late autumn. Moon is out and so gorgeous. Saw it when I went out for fresh rosemary for my lamb chops (Which also needed using up.)
For the record, my second Shingrex shot sidelined me for about a week. Still worth it. Also don't mind one bit if I have a similar reaction to the Covid shot. I will deal.
It's toasty and warm here. Sweet potatoes in the oven and I am waiting to broil the lamb chops. Have an emmer berry, wild rice and mushroom pilaf ready to heat up. Think I will bail for the green veg and do frozen peas. I did have some with lunch.
Need to figure out the tomatillos but that will be over the next 2 evenings. I bought some tomatoes at Trader Joe's, but not sure how to prepare all this. Though I AM sure that it will be amazing and a new culinary adventure. Will keep you posted. I can say that the fresh local baby carrots were just delish last night.
Need to investigate the sweet potatoes and get the rest of my dinner going. Love the bounty of this time of year! - Claire

My husband had a "flu" like reaction to the Shingrix shot. He had shingles in 1984. The shot left my arm sore, red and a little swollen. No reaction to flu shot or Prevnar.
The training I co-facilitated today went well. I had the leader scripts all printed off and somehow I lost part of mine after we started. Luckily, I could pull it up on my home computer. I stressed so much about this - first passing the Trainer of Trainers course, and then preparing for this. The training was on zoom and I learned some new things with zoom. The last time I co-facilitated this course was a year ago, in person and this was so much different. Big weight off my shoulder and now can just focus on day to day work. But I do like doing trainings, mentoring and having interns.
The Covid numbers are rising in Colorado, positivity rate is over 7%. More restriction in Denver and some other areas. My school district scaled back in person learning - last week grade 2-5 just returned to in person learning and now after the end of the week, grades 3-5 are going back to remote learning till at least Thanksgiving break. Middle and high school are now staying remote through winter break. The only students staying in person are ECE - grade 2 and our students in special education center programs.
People need to get their act together or we will be going back to stay at home like last spring!!! DH and I don't go many places but when we do we always wear masks. Well, except when we walk in the neighborhood - we usually remember to take a mask with us - but we cross the street if we see someone a head of us. Conversations are from one side of the street to the other is we see neighbors. I miss getting together with friends, going to synagogue, visiting my children, but staying safe and healthy is 100% more important than anything else.
The bitter cold is leaving and by the week-end and through early next week Denver will be in the 60s. The snow has helped with the fires but they are not out yet, but slowed down.
Watching the news and off to bed shortly. 5:00 am comes early - I wake up without an alarm. Sweet dreams.
