Ginger- I hope you feel better soon. This reminds me that I’m nearly due for my second shingles vaccine.

Edj3- that is a powerful review. Great motivating picture, too.

Pat01- I never would have guessed that pickle ball would have so many cliquey groups. I hope you are able settle in with a few groups.

Wonderland- beautiful pumpkins! Happy birthday; I never would’ve been able to guess your age. I thought you were in your early 50s.

    Runnermum- gorgeous summer spot .

I have been running more with a mix of walking and weights. I have shed a couple pounds recently, but the most impactful measure was food. I watched a series of videos called Bright Lines Eating by Susan Pierce Thompson PhD.The idea is to rewire your brain about when and what to eat. It’s a simple plan. I’m planning on making it a new habit so it becomes automatic like wearing a seatbelt.

That bra is gorgeous (as is the model 😉)! Love the colors. Way to go edj taking a leap of faith and a walk on the wild side all in one - I’m proud of you.

I was offered the shingles vaccine last week when I got my flu shot. I said no thanks, I’ll wait, as one of my direct reports had to call in miserably sick after getting both shots the same day, and I’ve since heard that result from other sources as well. I’ll get it, mind you, just didn’t want to chance being sick. Hope it clears for you soon Ginger.

I had a lazy weekend. Made the mistake of sitting down around noon with my laptop Saturday and ended up dozing the afternoon away. Sunday after church I still had no energy and ended up binge watching the first 9 episodes of season 1 of ‘The 100’ on Netflix.

Just sitting down with some caramel cinnamon apple flavored Carmel corn and a glass of milk (my all time favorite beverage with any food 🥛) to watch a couple more episodes.

But.....did get in a steep hill workout with Rhonda. 10x up and down, step up the speed on reps 5&10 uphill portion and ran 45 paces on 10 as well. It’s really quite a good workout but it’s ina park and no lights on the park road so not sure how we’ll get something like that in once daylight savings time starts

oh, and I got in an hour of deck rail painting before the walk. Not strenuous but I get up and down from sitting on the deck while painting the interior side as well as standing and squatting while painting the exterior side of it. Feel it a lot in the shoulders and back when I spend a couple hours or more on it. One additional hour down, about 13 to go. Nice weather predicted this weekand 70s on the weekend so hoping to knock it out😊

My friend's husband is having a biopsy today (suspected bladder cancer), so while he is in the hospital (they said 4-5 hours) I will meet with her and we will go for a nice beach walk. And she is a new pickleball player, so we will bring our paddles and balls and maybe find a court!

Send us another picture of Nugget, please!

DH & I just got done with the first of many rounds of leaf raking. The time of the year when trees are not so fun. In a few minutes, we'll go fetch the dogs for a walk, Barre Sculpt later.

Took a 'holiday' yesterday and didn't walk my 3-1/2 to 4 miles. I was reading a book I didn't want to put down. And I managed to do that without guilt - woo hoo!!! Back on track today with day #182. In six months I've only missed 7 days due to doc appointments & one "hurricane day". When I missed I generally walked 6 miles the day before & after to make up.

I really believe - at least for me through-out my life - if I put the exercise or classes first in my priorities, it will become an easy habit. Still - I really missed water aerobics this summer.

It is going to be low/mid 80's in SE Virginia today with temps staying in the mid-70's for the next 10 days. That is a happy place for me temp wise...especially next week as we take our annual Columbus Day week trip to Outer Banks. I love the beach, but hate the hot of summer in VA/NC, so we take the family cottage in May and this week of October, perfect!

edj.......You are beautiful and strong and I admire you.

I love all of the pictures you guys have posted. You are an admirable group of women and I hope it is okay if I join you.

My exercise of choice is yoga, followed by walking. The last 2 weeks my autoimmune disorder has flared which required stopping exercise. I am planning on getting back to it tomorrow if all goes well. I am not someone who likes to work out and I need some accountability. Yoga has helped my Letrozole pain quite a bit but I still have to make myself do it.

I would love to hear your exercise journey stories. Did you always work out? Did you start after your cancer diagnosis? How has exercise impacted your post cancer life?

    Thank you.

edj: LOVE your picture! And how cool that the company will be using your review. You look Fabulous!

GoKale: Thanks for compliment. Sometimes I feel 65, sometimes I feel 25, and sometimes I feel 95.

    M0mmy: Nugget is precious!

Ruth: Good picture of WWW. Looks cold!

TT: Love the Outer Banks. Have fun next week.

Pat: How is your friend's husband?

Minus Two: Your book must be captivating for you to miss your walk. Only missing 7 days of walking in 6 months is impressive!

cm2020: Welcome! Here's my exercise story: I'm 65. Was active in high school and college with everyday activity. My weight stayed stable. It's when I started my job after college and packed on pounds that I knew I had to get more active. I joined the Y and started taking aerobic dance classes and floor exercise classes. Loved the classes! Felt strong, lost the weight and was able to maintain a good weight for me. So for many years I took high impact aerobic dance and low impact aerobic dance classes plus I scheduled in walking. When my children were born I continued taking classes and walking with the kids in a stroller. Then at some point I stopped the classes but continued with my fast walking with a little running thrown in. Plus, I do yard work. Lots of push mowing and other thing in the yard!

I'll add this: I did chemo in the winter months and I mainly walked in the house. Just didn't want to get sick. Radiation was during the summer and I was able to walk outside until it became too hot. I had a lot of fatigue during the last 3 weeks of the tx so I stopped until energy slowly returned.

With all this being said, I walked/ran today in gorgeous weather which motivated me even more. Love a good, healthy sweat.

Welcome cm2020! We love people to jump in (or swim in, jog in, dance in, walk in.....). And it does help to be accountable! Even before cancer, I had exercise goals for both for aerobics and toning each week and would keep a notebook & check off the time to make sure I kept them. I still do that now, but I have really upped my game. I found that keeping moving was the best thing to keep me from being 'creaky' while I did my 5 years of Arimidex, and exercise is THE biggest non-medical thing we can do to reduce our recurrence risk. It also helps one deal with, or delay, or even halt, other health problems that we might be prone to as we hopefully live to a ripe and healthy old age.

We did a Puppy Field Trip out to a lake this afternoon & I went to a hard (but fun) Step Class & stayed for a very low-key Zumba class.

cm2020 - welcome to the club no one wants to join, but glad you found us. This is a great group. I've always been active - did Jazzercise in the 80s - skied - first cross country then downhill. Hiked and rode bikes. DH got me walking during chemo - sometimes it was only to the corner and back. The more I walked, the more I wanted to walk. I strive for 3 walks/day (15K steps is my goal)- before work, mid day or right after work and in the evening with DH. In the past few months, I've started running before work and I'm hooked. I always said I'm not a runner and wasn't when I was 20, but now I guess I am. I've always had a good weight.

86 predicted for tomorrow - but my Monday 60s.

Piling on with the welcome, cm2020! The most effective exercise program in the world is the one you like to do.

I joined the Army at 18 and well you either learn to love working out or you do a 180. Fortunately I liked it a lot and I've stayed consistently active most of my life. Running is my drug of choice, although I'm recovering from a slow healing foot fracture sustained this spring while training for a marathon. I am a sad, sad panda that I can't run yet.

I also love to lift weights and it tickles me to no end to see my arms all musclely. I love it :)

Speed walking again today, foot still hurts but I needed the mental clarity getting outside and sweating provides.

Seriously, karen1956, my weather forecast is yours only a day later.

Thank you all very much for both the warm welcome and your stories. I really appreciate you opening up to me. It is helpful and inspiring. I didn't get any sleep last night and woke up so dizzy that it has kept me in bed all day. No fever, no other symptoms at all, just exhausted feeling and dizzy. Yet I can't sleep. I am taking benadryl tonight (typically I take melatonin) and am praying for a good night's sleep and feeling far better and no dizziness tomorrow. I am not one that gets dizzy and am blaming it on lack of sleep (though that doesn't usually make me dizzy) and not on Letrozole or other meds.

Hopefully tomorrow morning I will be able to report what exercise I am doing.

cm, hope you are feeling better! Not sleeping well throws everything off

I went to Pound this am and will do Dance2fit in a few minutes. Still delightfully mild but very windy so the leaves are dropping like crazy.

Welcome cm2020 to the exclusive club that we wish you didn’t have to join but are so glad you found us. I was always a skinny athletic kid but gained weight steadily after high school. Just a few pounds a year but it added up. Lost 50 lbs with weight watchers in my mid forties and got into weight lifting class called body pump for several years as well as doing a little running (was a sprinter/hurdler in high school but always hated distance running). Absolutely loved it and was the buffest I had been since high school. Then BC came at 51 and threw me off track. I’m currently the heaviest I’ve ever been. I’ve always been athletic no matter my weight, and recently started walking each weeknight with a friend from work. Am always hopeful that I’ll be able to drop the weight again but don’t beat myself up about it.

That being said.....I realized tonight I haven’t checked in since Monday. Tuesday was an hour walk, last night the steep hill workout I’ve previously described. Today I knocked off work an hour early to get in some more deck rail painting (3 hours). Getting tantalizingly close to being done, have logged 71 hours so far since starting the project on Monday, Sept 14 and estimate about 8 more to go. Planning to finish up over the weekend during a great weather spell. Also a 3.5 mile walk with friend. Bought a nice head lamp for walking after dark so we did one of our favorite routes which is a 1.25 mile walk to local city cemetery, 1 mile around the cemetery road, and 1.25 mile walk back. Haven’t been in the cemetery after dark since, like, high school, and it was actually quite pretty. Many solar lights scattered about at various gravesites make it seem like little glowing guardian angels are hovering everywhere 😊.

    sleep well my friends

Still making record high temps in Denver a few times this week. Another one predicted for today - 86!

I have my 6 month oncology appointment today and Prolia shot. After 14+ years, my oncologist still sees me every 6 months. My former PCP who retired a couple years ago, told me frequently that both she and the onc worry about me!! This will be the second appointment that DH can't come due to Covid. Of course the last appt was just after his quintuple bypass. I may call him and put him on speaker phone.

We haven't been to any indoor events in 7 months. I nervous about heading back into the schools in a couple weeks. I'll be 2/4 days with other accommodations but still scary.

It's been a hard week. Yesterday would have been my late mother's 86th birthday and really missing her. Last week would have been my late father' 90th.

Last night there was a news clip on the local news about October and BC awareness and they interviewed a young gall who was Dx stage 4 Denovo in 2012 at 33 and is now NED and 41 and doing well. but when they talked about awareness I broke out crying. I'm o tired about awareness!! Everyone knows about BC. Where is the CURE or prevention.

Last week-end of my holidays this week-end. I might check back later today, but if I don't i won't be back till Sunday night.

    Have a great week-end.
