Lets Post our Daily Exercise

Last night the temperature dipped to 28 degrees, so I gave in and turned on the heat. Snow is predicted for Saturday, so the party is over!

Ruth, that did look cold, not brisk! I wonder what we will all do for outside activities with winter approaching too, appropriate clothing on sunny not windy days is what I'm thinking.
Nice long walk on the beach yesterday with a friend I haven't seen since last fall - then lobster rolls for lunch! It was a beautiful day, as is today, not many more of them left. Playing pickleball this afternoon.

ruth....Thank you for sharing how you guys started walking. I love it!
Today's exercise: walking!
0 -
Walked dogs, went to Barre Sculpt & Dance2fit.

We went and got our flu shots this morning, followed by the exciting activity of getting the furnace checked & cleaned (pretty important since there was some snow on the ground this morning!). We will walk the dogs this afternoon & I SHOULD clean the house. One of our best friend's daughter is getting married tomorrow & we are trying to decide what to do. The county where the wedding is just got bumped up into the 'high risk' category as far as Covid is concerned (if you have been following the news, you will have seen that all of North Dakota is terrible right now). Do we stay home? Go to the ceremony masked up? (We will skip the reception/dinner/dance.....all the fun stuff, even if we go to the wedding.) Argh!

ruth....That picture is everything! Lucky you getting some snow. I am not sure if you want advice or not, but personally I would skip the wedding. It just feels too dangerous. If you go I know you will take all precautions and be careful.
Walked today.

If we go, we'll sit way in the back wearing our masks, and rush out of the church right behind the wedding party. The mother-of-the-bride is one of my best friends and almost one of the family. We've gone on vacations together, I invite her over when my family visits etc. etc.. (Wonderland, it's Linda whom you've met a couple times at my sister's when we have been in North Carolina.) So, I do really want to be there for her, but know it isn't a smart thing to do......I hate this and wish our governor would grow a pair and just shut things down or limit the number of people at events instead of just making 'recommendations'.
0 -
Ruth: that's a hard decision to make! Your plan of sitting in the back and leaving right after the ceremony is a good idea. Even if you decide not to go, Linda will understand.
Walked/ran this afternoon.

Ruth - I live in Texas and wish exactly the same thing - that our governor would grow a pair. I'm afraid I wouldn't feel comfortable going, but then it's not my best friend's daughter. Hard decision. I'll be interested how the chips fall.

Except for days when it rains and I have to shift Nugget’s exercise indoors to playtime, he goes on a walk every day. That and doing house work is how I’ve been getting my fit on.

ruth...That really is a tough position to be in. I do wish the US had been proactive and locked everything down so that we weren't in this position now.
Not sure what my exercise will be today. I have a lot of house stuff to do, that may be it for today. I didn't sleep well at all (for 2 nights now) and am very tired (and cranky)>

Good morning and Happy Saturday ladies!
Ran 10 this morning with my running group! First snowy run of the season. It was a beautiful and peaceful run even though my feet were soaked and the snow felt like littl ice pellets hitting my face for a few miles when we ran west and maybe north too! Tapering for my half on Oct 31st and praying it doesnt go virtual. As Ruth said, numbers are rising here.
Feels a little too early to see the white stuff but the first few snow falls are always beautiful. Should be gone today as temps will be above freezing.

That's the same view I got this morning, runner. Pretty now, not so much when it still likes that in April (with a layer of ice below). Blah!
I went to Pound & Dance2fit. I think we will go over for the wedding (1 1/2 hours away) and then turn around and come home. I googled pictures of the church & it's big and has chairs instead of pews, so I think we can stay away from others. The reception venue looks too squished together for me to even want to go to that. We'll wear masks with filters, probably use the restrooms at the church as opposed to a rest stop or gas station......neither of us can make it 5 hours without going to the bathroom! Bring along hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. That's what I'm thinking right now, but might change my mind again in the next couple hours.

Wedding update: We did go, sneaked in the church at the last moment, sat way in the back (it was a huge church so we were not close to anyone else), waited until everyone else had exited. Since they didn't have a receiving line, the crowd headed straight to the reception revenue so the only people left in the large gathering space was the wedding party & the bride's two brothers & their significant others. The brothers were great friends of DS when they were growing up & have since moved away, so we had a wonderful time catching up with them for a few minutes. We then used the church bathroom & headed home. The End. I am very glad we went, feel that we were as safe as possible, very sad we couldn't do the fun party stuff, and hoping that everyone who did will be okay (because gathering like that is really playing Russian Roulette at the moment).
Anyway, I'll do Zoom Yoga today & maybe go to Barre Scuplt.

Colorado is on fire! A new 5th fire. One fire has been burning for 9 weeks and has burned an area larger than NYC. People are being evacuated from their homes. This morning on my run, the sky is gray and gloomy.
Cases are rising in Denver and all of Colorado. The governor is ticked off! He's leaving
it up to mayors/municipalities to decide what to do. Denver mayor is requiring masks and cutting down the number of people allowed in a gathering. When we walk we take our mask with us but don't wear it. We walk in the neighborhood so we can cross sides of the street or walk in the middle of the street if we pass people. We occasionally will chat with a neighbor friend(s) but more than 6 feet apart. Cases are only going to continue to rise as its gets colder and people spend more time in side.
Ruth - glad you went to the wedding and caught to catch up with the brothers.
I broke down Friday and got my haircut. I go to Great Clips so got there wen they opened. The last time I got a haircut was the end of January 2020 - took 3" off. It's longer than it's been in years, but I like the length. As my DD#1 said when. sent her a selfie, was cute length. I figure that I can go another 6 months before I get it cut again. Before BC, my hair was like Gilda Radner! Thick, wavy, course and lots and lots of hair. I can't complain about my hair post chemo, as it is a good amount but still much finer than before. But when it gets longer it looks stringy and straggly.
Yesterday was DH's 65th. This is the first time in many years that none of the kids were here for his birthday or near his birthday. We missed their presence. Even without the kids, it was a great birthday. I made him a giant snickerdoodle cookie and took some smoked chicken out of the freezer that he made last month and added side dishes. He's older than me for 6 1/2 months!! I'm already getting mail for medicare.
No snow in the immediate future but the mountains sure could use it - and I'm sure it would help the wildfires. Cooler today only in the low 50s and cloudy.
I ordered a Cubii under the desk eliptical that should arrive today. Will try it out tonight when DH and I watch a movie. So far, I've been doing great with steps. I've been running every morning but its getting harder before work and be ready to get on the computer before 8 since it's dark till at least 6:45. Tomorrow is an all day PD day - I have one 8-11:30 and ten 2-3:30 so too much screen time. In between the two, a walk is in order and catch up on paperwork. Actually, I need to do paperwork today. Cant seem to get 4 days work done in 4 days. I keep saying I want to work till DD#2 is done University - so this year and 2 or 3 more, but there are days I say this year and then one more, 6 months after DH. Time will tell.
Have a great Sunday. Sorry to ramble so much about me.

karen....The amount of wildfires is frightening and the devastation they are creating is sickening. Happy Birthday to your husband!
ruth.....I'm glad you were able to attend the wedding and did it in a way that you felt (and were) safe. It sounds lovely.
No workout for me today. Back to it tomorrow.

We all need an occasional ramble, Karen. Happy Birthday to your DH. That giant snickerdoodle cookie sounds wonderful to me! I have been watching the news about the horrifying Colorado wildfires. Anybody who thinks climate change is a hoax has their head up their you-know-where!
I did my toning classes & spent 30 minutes on the treadmill to finish off my steps. It's cold, windy & gloomy here today so I think I will now put on my fuzzy robe, make a cup of tea and read a book!

DH & I voted this morning and spend most of the afternoon in the yard. It is supposed to SNOW tomorrow and it is easier to rake, put annuals, and cut back perennials without a couple inches of snow on top of them. I went to Zumba tonight.

Got my Cubii this afternoon (under the desk eliptical). Got the one that snycs with phone as on Amazon Prime day it was the same price as the basic one. Will charge it in the morning and then try it later. Don't need to charge to use, just to sync. With the shorter days, getting hard to run before work -
Professional development all day today and then a zoom meeting tonight - for that I kept my video off so I could take minutes - but then it was hard to hear everything since I wasn't seeing faces since I was also on google docs.
Ruth - Denver has often had snow by this time of the year. Our petunias are still doing well - but can see the cooler/colder nights are beginning to take its toll. We never get to rake the leaves anymore, but its hard to rake over rocks. DH needs to use the leaf blower to get them all by the fence, then we can bag them. Stay warm.

I find using a broom and sweeping the leaves from the rocks works even better than a leaf blower. I'll go to Barre Sculpt tonight & I'm not sure what else.

Karen....next time, have them record the meeting and then you can get the transcript to fill in anything you missed. Which reminds me that I have some meeting notes to get moving on.
I had a wonderful weekend camping at the vineyard and helping out at the winery. Definitely the last weekend where camping would make sense. I learned a lot about winemaking and got a ton of exercise unloading boxes of apples and pears into the crusher for brandy and punching down fermenting grapes. Various other tasks as well.
It's been raining nonstop on this side of the Cascades so seeing the sun was wonderful. Last night, I got to stress test my new raincoat as I did my 4 mile walk. It's a winner!
They like to see me at the vineyard because I know how to do real work instead of flaking out under a tree.
Trying to wake up as it's a long busy day ahead including a visit to the internist. This will make me all caught up on doctor's visit.
This weekend promises to be nice, so time for a ride into the mountains. It will be cold enough so that many of the campers will be gone, and it should be just glorious. I need more time on the bicycle. It was too windy to cycle last Friday with 40 mph gusts. So I walked the vineyard tasting the grapes and learned just how important the grapes are to the final product.
A couple nights in a tent is a good leveler for another reason. Your bed feels absolutely palatial after a couple of nights on a sleeping pad in a very small tent. Life is indeed good! - Claire

Ruth - OMG, Snow? It was 89 today in Houston and at midnight it's still 78. Walked 6 miles today in my new shoes. The athletic store told me "good" shoes last about 400 miles. Who knew. I'll hit 200 days of walking early next week. I started at 3-1/2 miles a day but now that it's cooled down to mid 80s, I usually walk 5-6 miles.

Yep, snow, and we are in the path of a Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow. The Wednesday Walking Women masked up and walked in the Bubble of our fitness center (which gave us more room to spread out than the walking track. I bought a bunch of groceries in case we're snowed in, DH & I walked the dogs, I went to Pound and am now making dinner. My SIL is passing through town and is stopping on the way through. I have measured my dining room table and if she sits on on end and we the other, we'll be exactly 6 feet apart. Sure takes the fun out of entertaining!

I have been walking.
ruth...it is in the high 70s (reached 80 today) here and will be for the next week. It is hard to imagine a winter storm coming. Enjoy visiting with your SIL, even if it is from 6 feet apart.
Claire, your weekend sounds lovely (and wet!). I hope your appointment went well today.

Karen: Let me know if you like the Cubii.
Ruth: Have fun with your SIL. Snow!?!?!?! It's in the 70s here. Enjoying every minute of it!
Hi All. Dh and I went to a State Park yesterday. We hiked up the mountain, down the mountain, and all around the mountain. Wonderful autumn smells.
Walked/ran today.

Wonder - will do - I need to get a mat to put under it as it slips a little on the tile floor. I need to get a different chair if I use it in my home office.
Ruth - we have snow in the forecast for the beginning of next week. 50s Friday and 30s by Monday - not nearly as cold as ND but compared to what we've been having - 70s.
4 or 5 Wildfires in Colorado. Large evacuations in Grand Lake as I write this. Fire north Boulder - you can see the smoke in the sky. One wildfire (Cameron Peak) has been burning for 10 weeks!! News just mentioned something like 90 million dollar cost. Firefighters are testing for Covid-19. Scary times
I was in a school building today for the first time since March 5th. I went to test a 2nd grader. I got about half way done and stopped as I could see how tired he was. In the couple minutes that I went across the hall to talk to the special ed teacher, the kiddo started to doze off - need to go back tomorrow morning to finish testing. My morning is non-stop from 8 - 12:30, then more work in the afternoon - it seems like work never ends.
Heading to bed shortly.

I hope you get a ton of snow, Karen, to help put out the fires. That is so awful.
It was SO fun to spend some in-person time visiting with my SIL last night (Wonderland, it was Arlyce). It makes me YEARN for just plain normal times!!!
Our winter storm turned into a weather advisory, so we got snow but not a storm. I spent quite a bit of time reading today & even made an apple pie! I went to Barre Sculpt and Dance2fit this evening.

This popped up on Facebook. It's from 2017 and very cool!

We took the grandpuppies for a long snow walk today. It was cold but sunny and they LOVE the snow, so it was fun (in a brisk sort of way).

I am off to Zumba!
