Runnermum, is that your kid I just watched on the sports making a touchdown????

We went snooped around an old fort (now a historic site) and took a nice hike at a nature preserve. We got in on the very last of the pretty leaves, I am sad to report. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Hi all...just checking in..cm, adding my welcome. Unlike many here on this board, I confess that, other than swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving, and sometimes walking and hiking when there is fun stuff to see, I don't enjoy exercise all that much...BUT I do it anyway, most of the time, because I feel better afterwards.

When I was diagnosed with bc, my MO told me that the best thing I could do for myself was to try to keep active and exercise and live my life...so I found this group and started walking during chemo! Just around the block at first, and then longer, and I found it really did help, so I've tried to keep it up! Covid and the general state of the world has made me feel a bit down and thus less active of late, but when I do fall off the wagon this board and my MO's words ringing in my head get me going again! (He is, sadly, no longer my MO since I moved to a new state 1000 miles away about two years ago...I like my current MO but I do miss his wise words..).

Walked yesterday, walked today, planning a longer walk with my sister tomorrow to see the fall colors... just starting to change here at 7000 feet, but we are going to drive up to a famous fall color hike in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains north of me, at about 8500' or so.....which this time of year means getting out there early to avoid the hiking crowds!

    Take care all

Took a 45 minute walk & did a 30 minute toning DVD today.

Here are a couple pictures of our adventure at a game preserve yesterday. The first one is of a hill where, if you climb the 180 steps to the top, you can look out on the whole vista. We are past our peak of colorful leaves, but it is still very beautiful.

Gorgeous Ruth. I wouldn't exercise at all if I couldn't do it outside. That said, I only did 10 miles on my bicycle today. Rain is one thing but loud rumbling of thunder is quite another. I turned around and hightailed it back. Miraculously missed the rain. Cooking up a chicken that has been languishing far too long in the freezer.

Leftover mussels in saffron, tomato, wine, and cream sauce and salad for dinner. Hoping for another longer ride tomorrow. - Claire

    Hi everyone!

Ruth that is our godson and nephew! He had a great game last night. We watched it live on Midco Sports. Sad we are missing watching it from the stands. He is a senior this year.

Ran 14 miles this morning, it was a beautiful and sunny 40* with a very light wind. Perfect running temps. Walked the dog after the run and spent the rest of the day switching our youngest into a different bedroom. Middle son moved out 2 months ago so our youngest is taking his room and will convert the extra bedroom into a workout room now. Super excited about that! Ended the week with 33 miles of running and a few days of strength. Tomorrow is yoga.

Have a wonderful Sunday. Take care everyone.

Oh Runnermum, I'm so envious you can run. This stupid foot needs to heal faster.

Runner, I knew the last name so immediately thought of you! You know you have a great game when you make the highlight clips on the sports! It is depressing to have to watch on TV (except for us on Friday because our football team who had been 4-0 was creamed by Bismarck).

Anyway, I will do Zoom Yoga today and something to get steps, probably walking.

Edj hugs...I know how much it sucks to not be able to run. Sending good vibes for that foot to heal. You have been dealing with it for too long. I will run some miles for you! ❤

Ruth we were able to work 2 Packer FB games this fall so got to watch those in person but yes it is depressing to watch games on tv. Love Friday night games in the fall. I guess just thankful they get to play.

I want to come back and look at the pictures better (they are gorgeous) and read the posts....but just have a minute and want to record my planned exercise for the day before I get going. I am going a 15 min quick yoga workout as soon as I get up. Later, when I have more time, I am doing a 45 min stretch workout. I am working on flexibility right now. It is now written and I am committed to this for the day.

cm2020 - good plan!!! heading off for a run in 45 minutes so its not so dark - then time to get ready for work. It is an action pack, filled day = I start at 8 and go straight to 4 with only one break between 10 and 11 - will go for a short walk - then get ready for the rest of the day. Heading to the work computer to do a little work.

I've been doing great with steps the past couple weeks.

    Have a great day

I'm going to Pound this morning and walk dogs this afternoon. At 5:00 my Book Club is meeting (outside, socially distanced). We meet monthly and will have to make some decisions on what we're going to starting next month as there is a 99.9% chance that outdoors won't be an option......we lucked out this October, last year we were sitting in 24 inches of snow!

ruth...I want to live where you live. It is simply stunning and has such a peaceful quiet feeling about it.

edj3...I hope your foot heals soon and you are able to resume running.

octogirl...I am not one who likes to exercise either. It is something I must make myself do. What wonderful advice from your MO. I think I am going to start a thread for people to post the advice their MO gave them. It would be nice to have it in one spot and some women have gotten such great advice and support from their MO.

cm, you will get a different impression of where I live once winter hits. Then I will be complaining and whining all of the time! Loopy

ruth...I am really looking forward to snow pictures. I love winter and love snow. We get precious little of it where I live.

    Today's exercise: yoga!

Speed walking that was not quite running (one foot on the ground at all times) plus upper body. I got a bar for my plates so that's added some fun to those upper body work outs.

I got the most wonderful gift last Wednesday night - my daughter and her whole family (4 grandkids for me - Yay!) drove from Maryland to Rhode Island to surprise me for my birthday weekend! They arrived around 11 o'clock at night, hid on the screen porch, and she called asking if I got her package, it said it was delivered, and shouldn't be out in the cold overnight. So I dutifully went looking for package in my jammies and got my wonderful surprise! DH was in on it, and so we were making beds at 11pm, as he knew if he had made them ahead of time I would have been suspicious. My weekend was filled with lots of fun fall activities like corn mazes and pumpkin carving, and exercise consisted of chasing my fast 2 year old grandson around. Even took the older 2 grandkids to play pickleball! Daughters are the best!

Raining here the last couple of days, and the house is very quiet. Tomorrow I will beach walk with a friend I haven't seen since before covid, and having breakfast outside with another friend Thursday. Outside activity with friends is my new mantra, the activity and the companionship help keep the blues away.

Pat: What a wonderful birthday surprise! Loved reading about it. So special!

    Ruth: Looks cold!

Our trees are nothing like Ruth's. We still have plenty of green leaves although some are just starting to turn. Peak weekend for our mountains is this weekend and my area will be 2 to 3 weeks after that.

I've already had my walk/run today because I have a 2 hour zoom meeting shortly. Also had a 2 hour and 15 minute zoom meeting on Monday. I really feel sorry for everyone who has to do virtual meetings/work daily. Not much about is appealing to me.

    Tomorrow is mow day.

    Cleaning was today's exercise!

cm, in 2012 four recently retired teachers went for a walk at 8:00am on what was the first day of school (which happened to be a Wednesday). They enjoyed it so much that walking every Wednesday became a tradition, and it's something teacher friends look forward to doing when they retire (I retired in 2012). We had to walk on our own last spring (and report in) and I don't know what we will do again once it gets really cold......stay tuned.

Alice, by North Dakota standards, today would fall into the 'it's a little brisk' category. Happy

"a little brisk"?!? And here I am thinking...should I wear a sweater this morning...but deciding nay, I'm okay. Mornings are cool (high 50's/low 60's) but afternoon temps still in the 70's. I live so close to my school (1/2 mile) that I use the seat heater to cut off the chill...the car doesn't have enough time to warm up and start the heater before I arrive. TT
