Edj, sorry to hear how COVID is affecting your family.

Ruth, the McCullough book and a fun catalog are in the mail. Should be there Tues.

Mom is doing better. Speech therapy got her to the point where she can swallow which is good as the feeding tube was a bust. It hurt and made her gag so they pulled it. It's amazing how happy (and human) some scrambled eggs and frozen yogurt can make a person feel. She'll be discharged from the hospital Monday to skilled nursing for rehab.

Been taking mini walks several times a day. Although I have a cell phone, it's good to be near the land line in case someone calls that number.

edj - so sorry to hear about your son. Hope both he and your grand daughter are on the mend quickly.

Badger - good news on your mom

Ruth - my PCP retired a couple years ago. The doc who took her place only stayed a short time then another new doc started. I decided at that point that the NP would be my primary care. She's been with the practice for years and I have great confidence in her. I didn't want to try another new doc. My pcp who retired was fantastic. Besides, the NP isn't as young as the new docs are. I want someone who is not green.

Have a great rest of the day. Stay safe and stay healthy

Ruth- sorry you were under the weather for so long. Hope you are feeling better each day.

Sending healing thoughts to all who have family members dealing with covid. Truly horrible that there are still people who refuse to follow precautions. It seems to be cranking up everywhere

Badger- I am sorry to hear your mom had a stroke. Caring for elderly parents is hard in general but doing it with covid is so much harder.

We ordered an exercise bike and I am hoping it will help since I believe that gyms will probably close again if it gets much worse. We had 30 degrees earlier this week so I need an indoor option.

edj3, Grace is adorable what a difficult situation for your son and family. Badger, your mother's recovery reads as moving along swiftly in a forward direction - great! HeidiHill, good that your back is better and good luck with the tests. Ruth, how are today? Ginger, we are in lockdown with gyms due to open Dec 2nd and I'd be surprised if class were allowed to take place.

I'm working on a BB class of different track to teach if and when classes start back. Enjoying teaching 3 live streamed classes on Zoom as lockdown is a necessary drag.

Mom should be discharged from the hospital on Monday. She's going to a skilled nursing facility for rehab. I talked to the social worker (very nice person) and will meet the wheelchair transport van there with several changes of clothes, personal items, and mom's iPad so she can email. Maybe the Daily Bread magazine. Considering everything, she's in pretty good spirits.

I got permission from mom's apartment manager to enter the building and gather some items and empty the fridge of perishables. I will drop some warm clothes at the hospital today since the ambulance transported her to the ER in her nightgown. She will need a hat & coat, pants & shirt, and shoes!

It's sunny but cold... no snow yet thank goodness. Maybe a walk when we get home this afternoon, to counteract a stressful day.

Glad your mom is doing better, Badger, and that her spirits are holding up.

I still have a cough & can't taste anything, but otherwise feel okay. DH says he doesn't feel that great today (he took a test but it's still not back). He isn't sure if its his imagination or if he's getting sick. What a very unhappy hampster wheel we are on.

Ruth Hugs! Continued good thoughts you stay n the road to a full recovery. Praying your husband doesnt get it or has very mild symptoms. I know of several people who have had a household member test positive and have symptoms and they never get it.

Prayers to all of you with family members with covid right now.

I ran 8 miles this morning with my running group and had a nice walk with the dog this afternoon. In between put up 2 Christmas trees and cleaned the house. Will finish decorating tomorrow. A little early but need some JOY right now and Christmas makes me happy! Stay safe everyone.

Badger: I am so sorry about your mother! Thankful that you are retired and able to do all that is needed for her right now.

edj: Your granddaughter is beyond precious. Hoping for a quick recovery for her. How is your son?

Runner: Good for you putting up your tree. We all need as much Joy as we can get. Especially now.

Hi All! I started writing a rant about maskless arrogant people in stores but decided to delete it. Just to draining....

Been busy weeding the garden to get it ready for winter. It's amazing how fast and big weeds grow. Walked/ran late this afternoon after sitting on my butt most of the day. I really needed the movement.

CT is really getting bad right now. I hope people start taking it seriously and stay close to home for Thanksgiving.

This is my last day of quarantine; I still have a cough & can't taste anything, but otherwise feel fine. Hopefully I can try a little walking tomorrow. The latest twist is that DH, who has felt fine the whole time, got tested just to be sure and he's POSITIVE too. Argh!!! We are hoping that he will remain asymptomatic. It's like being on a hamster wheel with no way to get off.

Yikes, Ruth, glad he got tested--no symptoms is scary too b/c those folks don't realize they're contagious!

My son and granddaughter are doing better, she's finally eating which is wonderful (they're hoping for a poopy diaper and said it sure feels weird to actually hope you have to change a poopy diaper!)

So thankful that their cases seem to be pretty mild and I'm hoping my DIL stays COVID free.

ruth - Healing thoughts coming your way and for your DH as well.

edj3 - Glad to hear your son and granddaughter are doing better. So difficult to think of such young children with COVID. Healing thoughts for both of their recoveries and for your foot troubles as well.

Healing thoughts going out to anyone else with relatives/friends battling COVID.

Still doing my combo of Zoom classes from the local Cancer Support Community and Silver Sneakers (SS). Started taking a SS class on most days that uses dumbbells & resistance tubing for upper body exercises. Would be great to get rid of my underarm "wings". Last week, tried an SS Dance Class taught by a British ballroom dancer where we did Cha-Cha, Samba, Tango and Waltz steps - great fun!

Everyone stay safe and exercise when you can!

edj - good news about your son and granddaughter

Ruth - glad you are feeling better - sorry to hear that your DH tested positive - hoping he has a mild case and feeling well soon

Several counties in Colorado are RED - but the governor added another color higher than red and it is Purple!!! No stay at home order yet, but restaurants close at 8 and no indoor dining, outside dining only 1 family that lives in the same household at a table. Gyms at 10%, last call at 8pm. I feel for the restaurants. We rarely eat out so personally does't impact us, but the owners and staff at restaurants are hurting. I do hope people will order take out. Other than the grocery store and DH occasional run to get beer, we social distance. Will order groceries if we need to stay healthy. I'm working remotely till January. I'm hoping my accommodations for a flexible work schedule will be approved for second semester - only 2 days/week in a building and no more than 2 buildings/week (I work 4 days). Both DH have underlying health conditions for worse case scenario if we were to get Covid, but not higher risk to get it. Plus the unknown long term risks scare both DH and me. We get out and walk at least 3 times/day but otherwise spend most of the day behind a screen.

DH took the week off and I'm off so we are going to take advantage of day hikes in the area. 29K steps yesterday!!! Doubt I'll see that again anytime soon.

Have a great day. Stay safe and stay healthy.

No poopy diaper yesterday (HA!) but maybe today. They're both still weak as newborn kittens but not flattened. So that is definitely progress.

Edj, I hope things are looking up for your son & granddaughter. It takes awhile.

Mommy, hope your friend continues to improve.

Glad you can mostly stay home, Karen. This is a very scary time.

This was my first day off quarantine (whoo hoo). I made a grocery story run (the cupboards were bare), then hung out with the grandpuppies for awhile (no walk), and dragged out the Christmas decorations (but didn't put them up). I contemplated walking on the treadmill, but decided since I did about twice as much moving around today already than I've done in two weeks, I better not push it. DH still feels fine (knock on wood that it continues). He took two walks, put up the Christmas tree & is now working on a puzzle.

    Stay safe everyone!

M0mmy: I'm sure you were glad to hear from your friend's daughter with a favorable update.

edj: Hoping for a poopy diaper soon! May your granddaughter and ds continue to improve daily.

Celia: Your SS Dance Class sounds FUN!

Karen: Enjoy every minute of your time off. You deserve it.

Ruth: So thankful dh is still without symptoms. Such a crazy virus.

    Badger: How is your mother?

Dh and I mowed today. Hoping this is the last time for a few months. It's not so bad when the temperature is in the 50s. Smile

Hallelujah, she pooped! And she's been fever free for a couple of days. Still super fussy but it's clear she's on the mend. Same for my son, he said now it feels like a really bad cold.

So here's an oddity. The MRI I had a couple of weeks ago showed that my foot fracture is not healing. The x-ray that the specialist took last week showed that it's healed. It can't be both so I am puzzled.

Good morning all, hurray for grocery runs and poopy diapers. The little things we take for granted, eh?

Mom was discharged from hospital yesterday & admitted to rehab. I couldn't hug her so we made do with an arm bump. She looks pretty good for someone who just had a stroke. Still can't move left arm & leg, and speech is still slurred, but she's more understandable. Hopefully, they will help improve her QOL.

She didn't want her iPad yet. I think she will regret that decision as she'll be in quarantine for 14 days, meaning meals & therapy in her room. She's had two COVID tests, one upon entering and one upon leaving the hospital. Both were negative TG but they are trying hard to protect nursing home residents in WI. I will drop off the iPad on Sat along with her mail and a few additional items she's requested. She doesn't face time or zoom, and I can't visit in-person, so phone will have to do. She didn't ask but I think I'll include some stationery, stamps & her address book as mom still writes letters. How quaint LOL.

We had the first appreciable snow of the season overnight. We don't care about the driveway but I wanted to clear the sidewalks and find the newspaper. 30 mins Shovel & Sculpt.

I haven't been here for a week, and could not believe how things have changed for so many of you. It feels that way in our state too, we are having a 2 week "pause" starting Monday (just a nice word for stricter rules), but many places have already put new restrictions in place. But I notice people are much more on edge about following the rules here, which makes me edgy too. Ruth, glad you are feeling better, but so sorry DH now has the virus. Edj, how positively scary to have your sweet little grandchild and then your son so ill. And Badger, so sorry to hear about your Mom, it is so hard as we guide our aging parents through the twilight years, but it must be especially hard and frustrating during covid.

Pickleball has been my go to exercise these last few months, but sadly that is ending too. Gyms are closed, so no indoor lessons/play, and community rec centers are beginning to close their outdoor facilities too. It's a crisp sunny day here, so we are doing outside house chores (windows/screens and buttoning up garden).

These are strange and trying times, that's for sure.

On the positive side, my bike is at the bike store (although it's not yet built). And I ordered a hitch and a bike rack so things are progressing there.

My employer just send out a communication this morning--we are going to stay with our work from anywhere (just not at headquarters) through June. I'm so glad.

edj - you have lots of good news - your grand daughter and son on the mend and work, plus your bike. Hope you get some answers on the foot.

Badger - glad to hear about your mom.

Ruth - how is your DH?

Hiking today with DH breaking trail in 6" snow - we hiked about 3.5 hours this morning. Short hike this afternoon. Not sure if we will walk after dinner or not. Both of us are tired.

Everyone stay safe and stay healthy
