Walked dogs this afternoon & went to Zumba tonight. I stood way in the back and did a very low energy version. I was tired by the end but it went okay and felt good.

Karen, I'm so sorry to read of your pain - ouch. Do investigate the extent of your injuries by being seen - please do as Ruth advises. Castigame, good to see you posting and gives me a smile seeing people walking and those who park in the furthest space away in the large supermarket parking lot.

Up early getting it all pulled together for two zoom classes (Pilates & yin yoga) later this morning that is live streamed from the gym studio. Oh dear, 25 days till Christmas!

Kale - I can't take any NSAIDS so "tylenol" is my choice of pain meds. I also don't do well on narcotics so I avoid them at all costs - too many GI issues and they block me up (tmi). After using Dr. Google, they no longer bind for ribs.

Ruth - back is a little better. I'm still uncomfortable and it hurst when I sneeze or cough, but not as bad as Sunday night. There really is no treatment other than NSAIDS and ice or heat. I feel it when I walk, but its more discomfort than pain. Unless it gets bad again, I"m not going to call the doctor.

DH has an endoscopy on Thursday morning and I need to get through that first. Hoping its just an ulcer from the daily aspirin regimen along with his other meds since open heart surgery but in the back of my mind I'm worried. I can't be with him - just his taxi and he can call me when the GI doc sees him after the procedure. They will also give him prints our of everything. Total time at the GI clinic is about 1.5 to 1.75 hours so after the procedure 30 to 45 minutes till goes home.

Best jump in the shower and get ready for the work day, though I've already sent a few emails and done paperwork. Using my Cubii - no walk in the 20s temp early in the morning - I'm wimping out!!

    Have a great day.

Ouch Karen, prayers for continued healing.

I'm in on the Planksmas program! I love having these little challenges.

Back at school today after an extended Thanksgiving holiday...yesterday was 70 here in SE Virginia with a beautiful full moon to top off the day...today we will be lucky to reach 50, but heck it is December!

Happy new month to all, TT

Karen, I'm so sorry for your injury :(

Very cold here today--I did my plankmas challenge (well honestly I did the ab workout that already has a plank series in it so I guess I overdid it?). Tomorrow I see my PCP for my annual check up and then Thursday the foot/ankle orthopedist. Hoping for a very clear path.

I did my Planksmas as part of my lunchtime yoga class, there were two places with planks and I just held longer ...I think it still counts!

Yes it does count! Come on planksters, we held for nearly a minute. How did you do?

Had an eye exam this morning so had to wait for the afternoon for my walk. It's a sunny day... too bright for dilated pupils!

Planks Day 1 done (20 sec). It's been a while so I'm sticking to the schedule. :-)

LilacBlue I'd never checked the time in this specific ab workout until this morning--it runs nearly 3 minutes. I didn't stay on my toes for all three variations, just the first and third (hurts my stupid broken foot too much). I'm with Badger, I will need to work the program once we get into the longer times.

In Silver Sneakers Bodyweight Boot Camp today - modified plank for 1 min then, for the 1st time 30 sec modified side planks on right & left. I can easily hold the 1 min against the wall, so will migrate to knees on the floor next time. Tried to do the side ones on the floor, but had to switch & do them against the wall. Taking it slow here, as I do not want to hurt myself.

Karen, I don't take narcotics either for the very same reason. Talk about the 'cure" being worse than whatever was wrong in the first place!

Edj, how are your son and granddaughter doing?

We took the grandpuppies for a hike, after which I did a 45 minute pilates DVD. I accidentally started on Day 11 of the plank challenge, so planked for a minute (I am pretty good at planks so it didn't kill me 😅.)

I don't think I've ever done a plank and if I have, its been more than a decade ago!!! I'll need to wait till this rib/back of mine heals - the tennis elbow only hurts when I bend, so plank so be okay. DH and I joke that all we talk about lately are our aches and pains and what meds we take Happy .

Cases hear are now over 14% positivity rate - jumped 2% from Monday to Tuesday - very scarey listening to the 10pm news last night and Fauci and our news station medical expert talking about spike after spike into December, January and even February because of the holidays and people traveling and getting together. Scares the heck out of me to be back in person. My float coverage changes at end of semester and in February, I"m slated to take a 3 day maternity leave coverage at an elementary school and then in April change to a 2 day high school coverage. I need to complete the HR form this week for accommodations - just want what I have this semester which was to be only 2 days max in a building, which really didn't happen as I was only in a school twice for about 45 -60 minutes each time to test a student. DH is 6+ months older than me and says he'll probably be able to get the vaccination before me, just because I won't be 65 till May. I"m hoping if its available in March or April, one of my 2 oncologists will offer me the vaccination.

Cold today - probably only in the 20s - I put a pot of mushroom barley soup with vegetarian chickn for protein - we're not vegetarians - ate real chicken stir fry last night, but we limit beef and chicken to once/weekday but eat it on Shabbat. Looking forward to the soup tonight. We've become wimps in the cold bundling up for temps in the 20s like we used to for the single digits!!! i told DH its because neither one of us has enough meat on our bones!

Have a great Wednesday - off to look at fb, then do some work paperwork before the work day starts.

Just heard on the 6am news that its 28 degrees and feels like 5 degrees!!!!

Karen, hoping for more healing! And great to see you and hubby out and about and mostly all better, Ruth (and that he stayed asymptomatic..)

I did a beautiful long hike on Sunday, in brilliant sun and cold (never got much above freezing)...then had two days from you know where at work, so skipped the exercise. The forecast for the rest of the week was for more sun, a bit warmer, great walking weather here in Northern NM, so I promised myself I'd get back into my daily long walks today...

and then we woke up to six inches of snow on the ground and more coming down! and the roads are a mess. Six inches is a lot in our neighborhood...and this storm was simply not on the radar.

No excuses, right? Thinking I will get out the snowshoes for the first time this winter. I am just very grateful that hubby made a grocery run yesterday and that we have plenty of coffee!

We are supposed to be dry the next ten days, which is good since I'm moving mom's belongings out of her apartment. They do offer assisted living but the cost is exorbitant. We were not impressed when mom was on AL for several months in 2018. The building is huge and understaffed. It's owned by "investors" in a multi-state corporation so it's all about the profits. Mom has lived there seven years and has seen many residents leave. You'd think they would realize it's better to keep rent reasonable and units filled. Empty rooms generate no revenue and cause increases for the people who remain. So she gave notice and we (I) have until the end of Dec to vacate. I'm going to hire movers for the furniture but I'll be packing up the kitchen and personal items like clothes and linens.

My older son is doing well and back at work (I questioned how fast he returned to work and he linked me the CDC guidelines on how long to remain isolated once you're fever free; smarty pants). My little granddaughter is also doing better but clearly has that post-COVID fatigue plus her first ever ear infection.

My MIL's nursing home in Tulsa has an outbreak among the residents. They've been locked down since mid-March and have taken good precautions but as of Sunday night, six more residents tested positive, several have died and three staff members have also tested positive. They're testing everyone this week so I am hoping my MIL stays healthy. She's no longer able to walk and mostly stays in bed so I think COVID would make short work of her.

CeliaC , I love side planks. They do great things for the intercostals (muscles on your side), and also strengthen the shoulder area. I do them from the elbow but you can do them straight arm too.

ruthbru and karen1956, prescription pain pills make me puke like crazy! The upside is I'll never get addicted to them Happy

Nice mild afternoon for a walk in the sun. Planks Day 2 done (30 sec).

Also put up the outside holiday decorations. It's pretty basic: artificial pine boughs wound around the porch railing with little red glass balls hung like holly berries.

Edj3, that COVID outbreak is so scary. The place my mom is rehabbing is COVID-free and I hope it stays that way. I think it would make short work of her as well.

The Wednesday Walking Women are exercising on our own, reporting in, and having Zoom Coffee....so you only get a picture of me. I just did my plank, I'll stay at a minute until Day 13 (somebody remind me when it's Day 13). I'm off to PiYo now.

I know many of you can and do plank longer than the starting point of 20 seconds. I planked yesterday in class for a minute and added right & left side planks. I jut did a 2 minute plank of forearms - like in the meme and doing this - bring the right foot to the center and stack left toes on top of back of right heel - achilles tendon. I held for a minute and switched to left foot center and right foot toes stacked and that was more difficult. Start where you are comfortable and able and let's all work up to the 3 minutes or more. I like forearm planking and will switch it up to full arm planking as we go through the month.

Good early morning - who knows when I'll get my passport. I got an email yesterday saying they need additional information since I cover my hair with a hat and wearing a hat in the photo. This is only 6 or 7 weeks after the email saying they received my passport and almost 3 months since they received my passport. Will all them as soon as they open to make sure a "sworn" statement from me is enough or if I need to have my Rabbi write something. My Rabbi is part time and lives in NYC when he is not here which is most of the time since the pandemic. So frustrated.

Another cold morning, so pedaling my Cubii. I bought the Cubii mat, but it still slide a little on the tile floor and was loud, so I put my never used yoga mat under the mat and its much quieter.

My back/ribs/side - whatever is slowly getting better - it still hurts when I sneeze, cough or laugh or move a certain way, but not sending me through the ceiling. But my elbow is more sore. Might have to break down and go to the doctor for a cortisone shot if it keeps getting worse. Of course everything hurts more at night. Elbow hurts when I bend it and even holding/carrying 2 dinner plates hurts. I can't figure out how I got tendonitis in my elbow. I have it in my wrists - 2 different types and 3 wrist surgeries while on AIs, but nothing once I stopped AIs over 10 1/2 years ago.

Waiting to shower till DH gets up. I don't have a meeting till 9, so I have time. He has his Endoscopy at noon - has to be at clinic at 11, so want him to sleep as long as he wants since he can't eat. If I shower as late as 8 I should be okay. Will eat breakfast first - usually I shower first. Hoping its only an ulcer from the aspirin therapy, but in the back of our minds we are worried.

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Weather is slowly warming up here back to the 50s. Have a great day.

I did day two yesterday during my pilates class....I too like forearm planks. Today was a cold start of the morning for us wimps in Virginia...29. Our first temps below freezing, but it didn't last long enough for a freeze. Gratefully it was 37 by the time I left for school.

OK good news is no surgery on my foot. Bad news is he wants me to get an EMG and nerve conduction test to see what's going on w/ the nerve pain I've had since March. Needles in my scrawny foot sounds awful. But yay, no surgery!

edj, sounds like your doctor knows his/her stuff. Yea!

Karen, hope DH's procedure went okay. Glad your ribs are feeling better. Don't wait too long before you call about the cortisone shot. The more inflamed things get, the harder it will be to heal. (Just call me Dr. Ruth Loopy)

We are still enjoying the 20 degrees above average weather!

I have heard of a Dr. Ruth! Winking

Edj, yay for no surgery. I hope the EMG helps.

Karen, glad your back/rib/side area is less tender. Fingers crossed for your DH's endoscope. My doc suggested CoQ10 for the joint pain SE from the statin I take for cholesterol. The stuff is amazing! I found an article on livestrong that suggests it's one of the supplements may help tendonitis. Worth a look, anyway. https://www.livestrong.com/article/410062-supplements-that-help-with-tendonitis-bursitis/

Planks Day 3 done but no walk as spent most of the day packing up mom's kitchen. I will leave the dishes and glassware to the movers (they will not guarantee anything they do not pack themselves) but got the fridge, freezer, and cupboards emptied of food and packed up the pots & pans.

Tomorrow I will start on her clothes. Movers come on Weds and the more I do, the less it will cost in time and materials.

Can't do planks ladies, but I'm still walking 5-6 miles a day. Only missed 7 days from March to October. I check this thread daily but I've been posting on the Nov 2020 step challenge and suggested maybe Shar & Perigrine Lady check in here too. You are all such an inspiration.

Oh good edj3 and keep investigating. Karen, hope all goes well for DH and intercostal injuries take time. Apparently this happens with elderly who fall with a cane and the stabs between the ribs - what I learn on the postural stability course. TrmTab - good going I sent the Planksmas meme to my sister 's Pilates as I've been taking her classes whilst in lockdown and she told the class that by December end 3 minutes - wow.

The vaccine is starting here next week for healthcare workers and those at highest risk, then care homes and over 80's. This is only hope on the covid horizon and I doubt where I live we will be leaving tier 3 on the 16th.

Moved from forearm plank against the wall to forearm plank with knees on the floor during Silver Sneakers Bodyweight Boot Camp class today - 1 minute. I briefly tried to go on my toes, but only lasted about 5 seconds & felt it in my lower back. Hey, a year ago I had never done any planks, so I am slowly progressing.

Everyone keep on exercising the best you can!
