Claire: I got up early to row and was trying to read this as I made myself coffee. Obviously shouldn't try to read before coffee, as I had to read it three times before I could understand that it wasn't the winter weather you ordered from Belarus! The cross-country skiing looks great!

Great pix, Claire, and agree red is your color!
New treadmill arrived Friday afternoon and we spent several hours putting it together, which was a workout in itself. Lots of bending and twisting. The length and width are as expected but it is quite tall and the console is huge. In the spot I had chosen, it dominated the LR so we spent Sunday re-arranging furniture (in three rooms) and cleaning. Happy with the result and looking forward to many good workouts.
As usual, Saturday is mom day. We brought beef stew, turkey soup, and carrot cake to my MIL and spent an hour visiting, appropriately distanced. She is in a wheelchair and homebound so looks forward to the company. Also did a window visit with my mom. The place has been on lockdown since the first of the year after three asymptomatic staff tested positive for COVID. Then they tested all the residents and mom was negative. However, they are now testing everyone weekly and last week mom tested positive so they put her in a 14-day quarantine. She has no symptoms and is feeling OK except for the boredom that comes from isolation. Could be a false positive or a mild case but understand they have to be very careful in nursing homes.
Her rehab is going great - regaining functionality and attitude is greatly improved. She has the use of her left hand back and is able to move her left arm a little. Left leg is still weak but she can move it and PT staff have been working with her on movement and strength. They are limited in what they can do with her for the next two weeks but still come in with gowns, gloves, masks & face shields to do wheelchair-based PT and help her walk about the room. She can't go to the PT area so they have to do the work in her room. Hope it doesn't set her back too much.

Yeslama, I am laughing while drinking MY coffee. If we can order weather, I think I will order some from Arizona!
Badger, glad your treadmill is put together & that you got bonus points cleaning all those rooms in the process. Hope your mom & the other residents stay Covid-free. Have they been able to start the vaccines with people in nursing homes there? They have in North Dakota. We have been visiting with our 95 year old friend on Zoom every week (it's set up by the nursing home). She is doing remarkably well for the circumstances.
It's a Zoom day for me. Three of my oldest friends and I have a Zoom Coffee every Monday afternoon & I have Zoom Book Club tonight. For exercise, I'll go to Pound, Zumba & probably walk the dogs.

New exercise bike is put together. Didn’t need the hubby to help either. Instructions were easy to follow. Taking a small break and then I am going to try it.

Great scenery Claire.
Ruth - my wig has been sitting in my closet for 14+ years - I can't give it away. I still have a bag of hats that the staff in the high school I covered one day/week that they made for me. Of course I don't wear them. I did give away some nice hats that were given to me as I figured they could put to use. My only regret is that I did not take them to the AMC. I gave them to people in the community and I think at least one person gave them to her kids to play with - not what I intended. I wanted them to be worn. I'm not purging any medical records. Trying to find some records. Purging junk, like old Cure magazines etc. This is what I wrote on another thread: I've been looking for a large envelope with medical records from the hospital that I requested in around 2009. It's not where my other medical records are and I don't remember where I put it or a few other things. This has led me to going through things. I have very old trunk that was my late grandfather's filled with "stuff" - old cure magazines and other misc cancer related stuff. Most of it is garbage. I found a "gift" bag with lots of little items and a people with tootsie roll, life saver etc from 2008 - total garbage. Still haven't found what I'm looking for, but thrown out old magazines and other stuff - I have emptied 2 rubber made containers. Going to try to finish up today. The main impetus for looking for this envelope is I don't know if my implants are under or over the muscle and just want to know. One day I will organize all my labs, DEXA scans etc in a binder, but right now they are in envelopes or stapled together in a rubber made box. In one box, I have all the emails from former work people - going to throw most of them out as none of these people are part of my life anymore - going to keep the ones from people who still are here for me. When I left that job, those work people disappeared.
Dusted my bedroom yesterday as well. A couple nice walks as well. The weather was pretty, not so much today.
DD#1 told me yesterday that Canada has only vaccinated 1% of the population. I said we were only at 10% and she goes that 10x times more than them. The whole shot set up is a total mess. It all goes to who you know and what games you can play to get the shot. I heard that it takes about 3 weeks post 2nd shot to have the potential 95% effective rate and that masks and social distancing will be here for months to come.
75 minutes on the Cubii this morning and now need to get a couple walks in for the day.
Best jump in the shower and get moving if I want to be productive today.
Have a great day.

Ruth, yes they have started vaccinating nursing home residents in WI. Mom got jab #1 in early January. I asked the nurse who called with the news if that could have lead to a positive test and she said no, there's no virus in the vaccine. They had asked that question of the health care company that came in to do the vaccinations. Mom should still be able to have the second dose in early Feb.
I'll get on the treadmill during the noon news. Meanwhile, I'm still in Clean & Sculpt mode from yesterday. We have way too much stuff. I need to do a Clean Sweep treatment: decide what to keep, toss, and donate. I also have a whole filing cabinet of mom's paperwork from WAY back to deal with. Most I will shred, like her Discover Card bills with receipts stapled to them. Do we care what she bought at the grocery store six years ago? NOT. Medical records from Florida? NOT. (She moved here seven years ago.) Thankfully, we have electronic medical records so not a lot of paperwork from WI, for either one of us.

Luckily we've had a mild winter, Lilac. Although today was COLD, it's supposed to be 40 degrees on Wednesday (which is very, very rare for January in North Dakota).

They are giving the shots to nursing home residents here in Connecticut and now anyone 65+ can get one, but you have to make an appointment.

My MIL is in a nursing home in Oklahoma, she was able to get her first vaccine a couple of weeks ago and is scheduled to get the second one the last week of this month. We're very happy about that!
I did a power yoga today plus the glute challenge (60 single leg hip thrusts per side, and 40 fire hydrants per side). I do like this challenge and think it's doing good things for my posterior chain.

Had to get outta town for a bit so went up to Taos with hubby and my sister, where we had spectacular weather (too nice, to be honest), plenty of sun, and did a lot of hiking. The ski conditions are pretty dismal, more snow needed and coming tonight! We beat the snow home although we will get an inch or two here overnight, most likely.
Keep moving, all!

Yesterday and Sunday, I sorted through the office/spare bedroom - through out lots of junk, founds things that I didn't remember putting in the room, found a small box of stuff that is from my son's best friend under the futon - his late mother was my bff - will package everything up - a lot of photos and mail to him, BUT I NEVER found what I was looking for. Question is, where did I put it!!! At least the room looks less cluttered. Will. have to keep looking, but it's for another time.
Back to work today - I start at the middle school coverage. Need to figure out who is on my caseload as it is now being split with one other person.
Time to jump in the shower and get ready for the day. Just finished 70 minutes on my Cubii.
Have a great day.

love your dedication to the cubii, karen and to the glute challenge, edj. I did a number of squats with Zumba but have lost track of the challenge. DH and I were snowshoeing with the dog and it was a winter wonderland like Claire's pics. I fell into a snow hole and was a bit panicked trying to get out of it, losing my snowshoe in the process but eventually made it out and snowshoe retrieved by DH. Zumba yesterday and today will be the same. will try to get some glute exercises in but also need to do some upper body work and some stretching. There just is never enough time to do everything that needs to be done. That's what getting old is about. Speaking of which, here's another video for the pandemic era. Congrats on the treadmill, badger!

Oh my gosh, I love that guy! Thanks for sharing, Heidi.
It is kind of slick out so am not sure about walking outside, but I I will do some sort of aerobics today and go to Barre Sculpt.

HeidiHill, what a great video about the 92-YO man who exercises w/o a gym!! I may have to look for some free weights. They were hard to find last year.
I LOVE my new treadmill. Did 35 mins yesterday. This will be my routine for the next few weeks:
3 mins warm up @ 2 MPH, 5 mins @ 3 MPH, 5 mins @ 3.5 MPH, 10 mins @ 4 MPH, 5 mins @ 3.5 MPH, 5 mins @ 3 MPH, and 2 mins cool down @ 2 MPH.
Worked up a good sweat trying to hit target heart rate of 97 to 110 beats per min.

Good morning! Today I did 30 minutes of HIIT with weights (it's a Cathe Friedrich class, she's tough, I love her) and then the glute challenge plus abs. Today's glute challenge was:
- 50 Bulgarian split squats per side
- 40 fire hydrants per side
I'd hoped to run but we had sublimating fog where the fog was putting down a little ice on the roads. Since I run in the dark, I opted to not risk hitting a patch of ice and falling. So HIIT it was.0 -
Im making an effort to workout more. I purchased a treadmill and a total gym. I do a 15 min stretch in the morning.
This helps with my ankles and legs feeling heavy from my lupron. Then a 2 mile walk on my treadmill
Id like to use my Total Gym for a strength training routine..

Welcome, Jinx!
I'm a history buff so this morning, I put on my Potus1 (George Washington) tee shirt and walked on the treadmill while watching the Inauguration festivities. I will go to Zumba tonight. The temperature is good but the wind is howling so I'm not sure if we'll walk dogs or not.

Welcome Jinx - thanks for sharing the video.
I skipped my lunchtime work out to take an extended lunch break 11-1 to watch the inauguration with my (85 y.o.) mother...back in the saddle tomorrow! A worthwhile break. So proud of Kamala.

Welcome Jinx!
Great 45-min treadmill workout today. Effort was intervals dictated by side A of my old, home-recorded 'Disco Classics' cassette tape. I have a Sony Walkman Sport cassette player from the '80s and it still works. Warmed up to Le Freak, then went right up to 3.5 MPH for Heart of Glass, back down to 3.0 for a few songs then up to 4.0 for Shake your Groove Thing, 3.5 for a few songs then up to 4.0 for Disco Inferno, 3.0 for Shame, and while I meant to start cooling down at this point, couldn't help it and bumped it back up to 4.0 for the first half of I Feel Love and 3.0 for the second half. Someday, I will make it all the way through at 4 MPH, it's the perfect stride for that song.
Cooled off at 2.0 to Strut. I was very sweaty and very happy.

Will do a workout after dinner on the exercise bike

Badger: Fun play list to walk to! Enjoy your new treadmill.
M0mmy: Enjoy your new exercise bike.
Claire: Beautiful pictures!
Hi Jinx! Thanks for the stretching link.
Heidi: Such an inspirational video!
Ruth: Cool tee shirt.
I spent 2 and 1/2 hours outside on a beautiful day pruning our blueberry bushes. It's a workout physically and mentally deciding which canes, crossovers, older limbs to remove.

I’m enjoying it, but the knees aren’t so far.

I did a long restorative yoga practice this morning and it was ahhhhhhhhhhmazing. Today's a rest day and I also see my massage torturer er therapist who's working on all those aches and pains in my low back and left hip so I figured I needed something like this practice to get me a little less clenched.

I am over the moon today because I found out from the Total Loss Adjuster yesterday that they will be fixing my car after all!!! This was after I was prepared to foot the bill and then get reimbursed. I just squeaked by, and the auto body repair guy gave me a break, coming down to stay within range. So Rexxie will be back on the road next week and not cost me one penny.
It's about more than the money which I have. They won't insure a car that was deemed a Total Loss for comprehensive and collision, and I would have needed what's called a Salvage Title. And obviously, I have better uses for the $3,000 or so.
I am hoping that the roads are clear on Saturday so I can get up skiing. No problems with these things ever with Rexxie.
I went to the Belgian bakery and got a lovely lunch (take out) in celebration. Will have the croissants (some of the best I have ever had, and I spent a year in Paris) with my tea this morning. Life is good. - Claire

Glad about the car news, Claire.
It's another "Brrrrr, it's cold out" day here. Pound this morning, Barre Sculpt & Zumba tonight.
