First day back in the building since March - slightly stressed!! My morning routine is off as I forgot to charge my Apple Watch last night so just started my Cubii at 6:35 instead of 5:30. It took me an hour to get everything ready - since there are no water fountains and I won't go into the staff lounge, I needed to. make sure I have enough drinks - herbal tea and water and pack a lunch. Will probably only get 45 minutes before I have to jump. in the shower and head out. The school is about 25 minute drive. I've never been in this building.

60s today (supposedly was 60 yesterday but didn't feel like it as no sun) snow on Thursday.

    Have a great day

    Good luck today, Karen.

I have a Zoom meeting later this morning & then need to run some errands before the weather changes. We will walk the grandpuppies this afternoon & then it's Barre Sculpt.

"Treat your body like it belongs to someone you love." love it Ruth and 4 sober years is excellent! And Ruth, loved reading about your beautiful grand puppies and their personalities! Badger, what your mother pays sounds the most reasonable I've read yet.

Thank you to all who shared on cost of care in the US. I'm keeping active for as long my body allows as I don't have the funding for $7000 a month! Finished the second weekend of Yoga For Healthy Aging and now a exam to complete. I signed up for a Yoga For Cancer workshop in March with a yoga studio out of Peidmont California. Most trainings I've been through focus heavily on the cancer aspect and not as much on the yoga - so this is much more yoga practiced based. Trying to upskill as much as possible during this lockdown. The the new UK Covid variant is scary and dh got a call yesterday from the surgery to come in for his vaccine 'jab' (they say jab here not shot) on Saturday. Had two good zoom classes today where the live streaming stayed strong and and did not get knocked off like last week. No snow here and don't think we will get any this year.

M0mmy, I heard that Danbury CT got 19 inches of snow. Yikes!

We will have another round Thurs-Fri, up to six inches they say.

45 mins on the treadmill today listening to Side B of Road Trip '95. Don't remember where I was going but it's fun to listen to these old mix tapes. Increased the incline when the song demanded a slower pace (Going Down to Big Mary's by The Paladins, or Mercury Blues by the Steve Miller Band), to keep heart rate up. But when White Wedding came on I cranked up the speed, twice, when Billy Idol says "Pick it up."

We got over a foot (over 13 when DH went out to snowblow) but not 19" I am going to try not to be jealous of Danbury as we did get a wee bit over prediction and it is a winter wonderland out. AND we still have power! :)

I rowed 5600 meters tonight, plus some "floor exercises" -- squats and lunges and bicycles and mountain climbers! 5 weeks PFC (I use an alternate F in that!) and I am FINALLY feeling like I am gaining strength! I can row at a lower split time and faster strokes/minute without my heart rate going through the roof! I was really in despair that I woudl ever regain everything I lost. A longs ways to go yet, but I am seeing progress! WOOHOO!

Wonderful news, Dragon!!! Yes, it does come back. I think it took me at least 4-5 years to heal completely. However, I was about 95% there one year out from finishing active treatment. I remember my oncologist thinking I was 100% about 6 months sooner....and then I showed her. She has told me more than once that I am the only patient she has who is this active.

So really, how is she to know???

I have my car back. So excited to be done with this saga. I am really happy too to have my Subaru for all the iffy back roads I will be driving on my ski trip. Think snowy hairpin curves and no guard rails. Rexxie loves these conditions, so I will be just fine.

There are places open for takeout and I can bring it back to where I am staying. I will be bringing some of my wine stash. So lots of skiing, amazing food, great wine. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday. - Claire

Happy birthday week! Sounds like a great week-end.

First day back in the school went well. The office I"m using is huge, so easy to keep 6 feet from me and the students and i"m seeing them one to one. It is different than the past. It was the first time DH and I were away from each other all work since the beginning of March 2020 - 11 months. I'm happy to st ill be remote 2 days. I told one of the students that yes, I was old and he asked how old and said, 52 or 53 - I said good guess!!!

Yesterday we broke a record high - 65 - but that is changing tonight to cold and snow - probably not a lot of snow for me but for the mountains.

Been up early - slept well till about 3 or 3:30 then really couldn't sleep well so got up at 4:45. Dental cleaning at 7:30. Then rest of the day is on the computer - meetings etc. Tomorrow facing the computer most of the day as well. Two meetings in the morning, then co-facilitating three interviews for new SPs for next year - all are current interns.

15 years ago today, I heard those dreaded words no one wants to hear. At the time 15 years seems unimaginable - wondered if I would ever see 65 and now I'm almost there. Now I look to the next 15 years.- when I'll be officially old! My actual day of diagnosis is considered the 2nd, but the 3rd is when I heard the words. I was pretty sure on the second as when I had the biopsy and said the doctor, I don't know how I'll tell my daughter (DD#1 had left for second semester at university 4 days before), she responded you'll have to tell her.

    Feeling emotional this morning.

We'll be in the 50s today and then the polar blast starts moving in. Our lows next week will about be in the low single digits with fierce winds so the wind chill will be brutal. I squeezed in a run today, still having heart issues and suspect that radiation may have affected my heart.

Today's my birthday, I'm 61. I manage a team of 8 at work and they shocked me to pieces by giving me a $200 gift card to Hoka One! I was speechless to be honest.

    Happy Birthday, edj3! I am also 61. It's a good age to be. :-)

Karen, congrats on 15 years out!!

Today was a lug stuff to Goodwill day. Brought home four boxes of mom's kitchen items, linens, and décor. Sorted through them, made sure mom didn't want any of it, kept what we wanted, and donated the rest. While there, received a flyer about recycling old computer equipment. Hallelujah! Went back with two Dell PC towers with outdated software (Windows ME and Windows XP) that had been parked in the basement. I'm in full-bore decluttering mode.

Also hit the local ACE hardware for a 40-lb bag of sidewalk salt. Storm starts with ice around 2 AM so will put down a layer of deicer before bed tonight. Forecast is for up to 6 inches of wet, heavy snow followed by a week-long deep freeze (overnight lows below zero with wind chills down to minus 35 starting this weekend).

Claire, it sounds like you and Rexxie have the perfect birthday plans!

Happy Birthday, edj! What an awesome gift by your team.

Karen, I am glad school went okay. What a weird, weird, weird year. I was diagnosed a year and a couple weeks behind you, so know some of the emotions one feels when reflecting on that time & everything since.

I walked with one of my Walking Wednesday friends in the Bubble at my fitness center this morning. I think we are all feeling blah and kind of depressed about not being able to really be together. DS's girlfriend had the afternoon off so we grabbed the grandpuppies & walked up at the golf course with her & her dog. We've had so much fog that it has created a layer of beautiful hore frost & rime on the trees. The bottom is supposed to fall out tomorrow; some snow, lots of wind & below zero temperatures (and even lower windchills). Zumba tonight.

Happy birthday Edj!!! I am quite excited about my birthday. So much to celebrate. Off for a walk. I have something to finish today, but it's not raining for a change. So time to head out the door.

Still noodling something I am working on. I want it to be GREAT, which is an uphill journey from GOOD. I will get there.

Think I will start packing tonight so will be good to take off Friday AM. - Claire

Had a ten hour day at work today, which is still not nearly enough to stay afloat but MUCH better stamina than I have had! Today 40 minutes strength training session then 1,500 on the erg (my goals for rowing for February are at least 1,000 meters every day, no matter what, and 100,000 for the month)

It is still a winter wonderland out! I love the steep cuts in the snow on the sides of the road :) Too bad my balance and wrists aren't in better shape, but maybe I can do some sledding this weekend :D I am a little kid at heart.

I have my almost-1 year follow up with rad onc tomorrow. I really look forward to getting fully vaccinated so I can go back to my LE specialist PT and get the tight stuff worked out.

First--thank you for the birthday wishes. It was a lovely quiet day.

Now for the good news, I was able to endure a mammogram on my cancer side (that breast always hurts, always), well both sides today and NO CANCER. Yay!

edj: Sorry I missed your birthday yesterday. Happy Belated Birthday!

MOmmy: We only got just over 13" I am greedy!

I rowed about 5200 today. And had my almost-one-year f/u with rad onc. She wants to see me again in 6 months. I was surprised. Will ask my med onc about that. Seems like overkill. At any rate, she thought everything was ok, doesn't think much of my costochondritis or boob pain. Once I am fully vaccinated I will go back to my PT!

    Yay for good news, edj!

Two rounds of Shovel & Sculpt yesterday. Round 1 was the first four inches; round 2 was the next three inches plus the gift of the snowplow. I told DH the next house we buy will NOT have a sidewalk! One round of S&S this morning getting the wind-blown snow and what the plow deposited last night. It's very cold and will be much colder starting tonight so must get it today before the snow turns to rock. Will go out in a bit to clear the end of the driveway. Still, I love winter.

We're on tap for dribs and drabs of snow this week but the real issue is the arctic blast: our temps fall off a cliff tomorrow and the wind picks up so lows for the next 10 days will be in the low single digits with below zero windchills. No running for me during that time, I'll run in single digits but not when it's from windchill, that's just so unpleasant.

I hoped to get in a run this AM, my heart rate said nah so in a fit of kindness and recalling what you wise women have said about treating ourselves the way we would a beloved friend, I cut it short after a mile and then did abs and weights for legs.

Our January was 20 degrees above normal & now we are paying for it because February is starting out 20 degrees below normal! It was 7 above today (feels like -15) and tonight it will dip below zero and stay there for at least a week. This weekend the windchills are predicted to be 40-50 below. Yikes! (This is not normal, the last time it was this cold was 1985). I walked at my fitness center & went to Yogi Breathing followed by a Nidra class. I also made a grocery run because I sure don't want to be out & about more than I have to for the next couple days!!!

I wish we could have face to face classes. There is still no word as to when that can happen. The cold snowy temps are to arrive in late afternoon and supposedly to snow tonight. Yesterday taught one class and took another and a 3 mile walk with ds. One is not to go more than 5 miles from home to exercise (or dog walk) and then for only an hour - once a day. Today usual meditation, work on exam for finishing course and a ☯️ flow.

My dh will have his first vaccine jab this morning. We had a box from a London restaurant called Smokestack arrive yesterday for our 23rd anniversary tomorrow. In the old days we would go to a expensive Michelin 🌟 restaurant our big splurge - now it's overpriced cold boxes with instructions on how to make it look like it would in said restaurant. Oh, I'm baking a cake today using marshmallow fluff in the frosting. Kicking up those calories this weekend and sure to regret it next week.
