Great pix! Love the rainbow glasses, Karen. Fingers crossed that spot is nothing, edj.

We've had cool days and cold nights. Frost warnings for last night and again tonight. Our perennials are hardy, we haven't put in any annuals yet, and have no budding berries or fruit trees to worry about.

Walked to the library this afternoon, approx 2 miles round trip.

    edit to add: Attawoman, Jinx!

Beautiful photos Ruth. good luck to Bruno today

Things in Israel are awful - 100s of rockets shot into Israel yesterday. My daughter was in the bomb shelter in the evening and then in the middle of the night and slept there and slept there was it was clear to leave as they didn't want to wake up again and run to the shelter. It's very stressful but she doesn't seem to worry. Hear a siren and run to the bomb shelter. In the afternoon, she didn't have her phone so she texted me that she was safe so I wouldn't worry and sent a picture. The news that we see in the US is so biased.

Sun is supposed to make an appearance today and near normal temps today - rains back in the forecast for the week-end. I did manage 2 walks yesterday - when I get home from work and after dinner. :)

    Happy Wednesday.

Been thinking about your daughter, Karen--so scary for her and for you.

    Jinx--WAY to GO!!

We have thunderstorms predicted all weekend which is just so annoying--we volunteered to help with the Kansas City Triathlon and while I don't love getting rained on, I'd still be there. Lightening? Not so much.

    Great job, Jinx!

So scary, Karen! I hope your daughter stays safe.

It's beautiful here (other than the fact that we need rain). The Wednesday Walking Women were out in force.

I will go to mat pilates at noon and maybe Zumba tonight. Bruno went to the vet this morning to get 'fixed' so it will depend on how he's doing. I am supposed to call at 1:00 and see if they want to keep him overnight or send him home.

imageHis little face when we got him up to go in this morning. Since he couldn't have any food or water, he found a stocking cap to suck on. Awwwww......

    Aw Bruno!

Derm isn't worried, thinks this is either a tiny ganglion cyst if in a very unusual spot, or a tiny venus thrombosis. He said if it grows, to come back. Otherwise if it's still there in September (my next 6 month check), he'll sample it then.

    Today's a rest day!

I walked 4 miles just about every day for over 6 months and merely maintained my weight. I'm on arimidex, I'm wondering if that is my issue. I drink a lot of water, leave wine for the weekends, and don't eat fast food etc. Is there anyone else taking that that has NOT had issues losing weight.

I also want to start lifting weights, when I get rid of this LE episode. >:(

Another day of rockets - daughter is sleeping in roommates room as it is the "safe room" in their apt. She's been in their all evening and night. She just said she heard a really loud boom so the iron done must have intercepted a rocket close by. At least 3 red alerts by her - hundreds across the country. Her biggest complaint is that it is hard to focus - still needs to do work for school and it's annoying. I know she will be safe, but this mom (and her dad, sister and brother) are worried.

Gorgeous weather today. Walked when I got home and will go or another walk after dinner. Finished up one of my coverages and feel kind of sad - first time that has happen in the 5 years I've been a float.

Ruth - hope Bruno is doing okay.

edj - glad the dermatologist isn't worried

Homemom - I quit AIs in 2010 but I put the weight I loss during chemo back on - don't remember if I tried to loose weight - sorry I can't be of help.

    Have a great Wednesday night.

HomeMom, Arimidex didn't affect my weight one way or the other, but everyone is different.

Karen, I would be worried too. Yikes!

Bruno is safely home. I think the hard part will be keeping him quiet for a week!!!! Maybe he's so perky because he's still under the influence of drugs!

DD just text "another siren, I'm okay - it's 3pm her time - rockets seem to be increasing - 1000s over past 2+ days. She is doing school online (has started back in person last month) and it is very hard to focus -

Two meetings this morning and need to call a parent this afternoon - rest of day is writing reports and paperwork. Definitely need to get out and walk - supposed to be nice weather - hopefully though not too hot.

    Have a great Thursday

I tried to get real exercise yesterday and failed. But at least I tried? In the end, all I managed was an extra-slow midday walk with my dog for 20 min. and an extra ~1/4 mile loop before bedtime at a mostly-decent clip. Every little bit counts, right?

karen, hope the craziness ends soon and DD stays safe from it all!

    edj, hope it's nothing.

homemom, I think it is harder to maintain on an AI. It's like your body wants to create/expand those fat cells in order to produce/store more estrogen. With a lot of effort I managed to keep my weight on average the same for 10 years. The pandemic has me up 2 kilos though but hopefully I will still get rid of it. Yes, lifting weights will help prevent lymphedema if done carefully. I am not an expert though and never had a real flare. Just lucky that it's been that way even after having 19 nodes removed.

lovely pic of the WWW in full force, ruth

saltmarsh I will be the kind voice for you here--you are doing great. You're not even two months post-op and your body is letting you know when there's energy and when there's not. You're in this for the long haul, right? One day, one week, one month is nothing :)

Got in a 5 mile run today. We have thunderstorms starting sometime tomorrow and they will last through next weekend (and who knows after that, that's as far out as the extended forecast shows). I'll run in rain but not when there's lightening.

Saltmarsh, every bit does count! It gives you a base to build up from once your body is ready.

I'm glad you will be able to get some walking in, Karen. As a stress reliever if nothing else.

I will be off to Pound in a bit, and probably both Barre Sculpt & Zumba tonight. We have strict orders from the vet NOT to take Bruno on walks or hikes for a week! (When you live in a smaller town & they know your habits, you can't get away with anything. Ha!)

Welcome, HomeMom. I was on an AI (anastrozole - generic Arimidex) for five years and found it hard to lose weight. Maintaining is great.

((Karen)) virtual hug. So scary. I hope your daughter stays safe.

saltmarsh, good for you getting out there. ALL movement counts. There's no way I can compete with mega-exercisers like Ruth & Claire so I don't try. I just do my own thing. For example, I am starting my Spring cleaning today. Got everything out of the small bathroom, vacuumed the ceiling and vents, did the usual cleaning of shower, toilet & sink, now on to washing the walls. Last thing will be scrubbing the floor. There's lots of bending & stretching with Scrub & Sculpt and I will be sweaty (and happy) when done.

Yesterday, I deep-cleaned the back part of the house: a bathroom, the laundry room, back porch, and basement stairs. Tackling the kitchen today.

I cleaned the house yesterday too. Bruno is so CRAZY without any exercise that we disobeyed the vet's orders and took him on several short leashed walks throughout the day. The pills that are supposed to keep him calm seem to have no effect what-so-ever. I will be glad when his 7 days of restricted activity are up (and so will he!). I am off to Pound & Zumba in a couple minutes.

I got in a 3 mile run this morning in light rain. I'd far rather run in light rain than row :) We're on tap for thunderstorms all week long so I will probably have to break down and row at least once. It's just so very boring.

badger: Please come to my house and deep clean for me. Thank-you. It really is good exercise!

Karen: I watch the news about Israel and all I think about is your dd. How terrifying. Thinking of your dd and all your family.

Ruth: Bruno is counting down the days until he can run, jump, etc. again.

Hi All! Yesterday was our 38th wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we took a 6.5 hike in a national forest. Parts of it bordered on a lake. The trail is full of rocks and tree roots. Many of the tree roots looked like snakes! Had to stop a few time to make sure they weren't moving. I packed a small lunch which we enjoyed while sitting on a large rock by the lake. Ended the day eating dinner in a private dining room at our favorite restaurant.

Walked/ran today. Loving the cool weather we have been having.

Happy anniversary Wonder - sounds like a great way to spend it - hiking in a national forest. DD texted twice today about sirens and saying she is "okay". Not sure if she was in bomb shelter of safe room in apt. Monday is a holiday in Israel (its M,T) in America - so worried what will happen then.

Happy Anniversary, Wonder! Sounds like a wonderful hike and a posh evening.

badger, is deep cleaning like a deep massage? Hehe. I want one too.

Have been overdosing on the Fitness Marshall, as once recommended by Ruth. I overdosed on Zumba and K-pop before that. Have been a couple times to do weights and run on the treadmill at the gym. My membership has probably expired by now. I'll join the cheaper, university gym because I don't intend on going to workout in sweaty gyms as much as I used to. I got myself a stand up paddle board to use as my private gym on the lake. Lol.

Happy Anniversary, Wonderland! Buy me a plane ticket to NC and I'll gladly help you clean your house.

Heidihill, I could use a deep-tissue massage after deep-cleaning the house! It is hard work and it tires me out. Regular cleaning in the living room means dusting & vacuuming; deep-cleaning means also washing curtains, vacuuming window blinds, and moving furniture to clean baseboards. Regular cleaning in the kitchen means wiping down the stovetop and countertops, cleaning the sink, and sweeping the floor; deep-cleaning means also washing the cabinets, de-greasing the stove hood (gross), pulling out the fridge to vacuum the coils, and scrubbing the floor on hands & knees. (I kneel on an old towel to protect my creaky knees.) Taking the porta-vac to the ceilings evicted IDK how many spiders but their webs are gone. I appreciate spiders but not in my house. If I find one inside, I do "catch and release" i.e., put it outside instead of killing it.

I still have another bathroom, the office, and two bedrooms to Spring clean but am taking today off from cleaning. Planning a trip to the greenhouse for annuals and tomato plants. We're finally past the danger of frost. Garden & Sculpt on tap for this afternoon.

Well the triathlon was switched to a duathlon because of the weather. It absolutely poured on us! We race marshals were really spaced out (couldn't see any others) and because I was on a part of the running route with no spectators, I cheered on every single one of them as they passed. I have always raced better when someone cheers so I returned the favor today, and so many of them thanked me for being out in the rain. I told them it was my pleasure.

One year ago today, I broke my foot training for a marathon. I'm still not back to racing form so this was a way to give back :)

    Hi:

I've been a bit MIA the last week or two, just very, very busy, mostly at work.

I keep thinking about your DD, Karen...

    Happy Anniversary, Wonderland!

Anyway, my big news: I am more or less out of the wheelchair! Doc gave his blessing to putting as much weight as was comfortable with as my leg was all healed when I saw him Thursday, but of course told me I needed to ease back into it given that I've been in the chair for ten (!) weeks! He asked my PT to assess how best to get me back into walking...but did tell me that he thought my time with a walker would be minimal given that my range of motion is well above average for someone who broke a femur and has an artificial knee (two actually). (I'd thank the PT for that. but honestly I think it is just how I am: after both knee replacements the knee doc and his staff commented on how fast I got back full range of motion, and how proud they were that I was doing all my PT exercises...even though...um....truth be told ...I wasn't that compliant on the exercises back then)...

So, anyway, went to PT Friday and she agreed I likely wouldn't need walker for long. She had me walking around the PT office with the walker and gave me additional exercises to do to build up my leg strength.

The good news: I did great at PT!

The bad news: I think I was so happy that I overdid it...woke up Saturday am with classic symptoms of plantar fasciitis. :-( I am doing lots of stretching (I can feel how stiff my hamstring muscles are....) and trying to stay off my feet too much till I go back to PT on Tuesday...but of course that is hard! I want to walk! Besides, other than the fact that it hurts walking feels sooooo good, and I honestly feel very stable even without the walker. Arghh.

Ruth, I think you had it, or was it someone else? Anything in particular that helped?

I am trying to be patient but my patience is running low. Today my exercise consisted of a bit of walking around with the walker, lots of stretches, and doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen, standing up!!! I keep the wheelchair nearby in case I get tired, and I 'counter surfed' around the kitchen (i.e. kept a hand on the counter or leaned against the counter at all times, for stability). But still: a big deal for me: do you all know how much easier it is to do dishes when one can see the full counter?

    Take care all;

    Octogirl

    Karen, be well.

Octogirl, so glad you're done w/ the wheelchair. One thing you might try w/ your feet is rolling a firm ball (like a lacrosse ball) with the bottom of your foot. Basically, you're massaging your foot w/ the ball.

Very frustrating, Octo! I did those exercises where you 'write' the alphabet with your foot, balance at the edge of a step, squeezed a ball, something with a towel (I can't remember what!). I think it mostly took time (ARGH, not what you want to hear!!).

Three dogs strolls. We will all be glad when this week of taking it easy is over for Bruno. Barre Sculpt & Yoga (which we did outside.....ahhhh.....).Here's our beautiful North Dakota sky.

On the up-side, yesterday I walked over 10,000 steps for the first time since my surgery! Nearly 14K! So yay for stamina! And it was a really nice day. My neighborhood celebrates Give Your Stuff Away Day every year, and people come from all over and it's like huge party for yardsalers, thrifters, and treasure-hunters of all sorts. The neighborhood agreed to hold it and just require masks and spread everything out more than usual so folks wouldn't be too on-top-of each other, and it went really well.

I came out of it with a trampoline and chin-up bar to add to my makeshift home-gym setup! I can't use either yet, but I'll get there, and in the meanwhile my tween and his quarantine pod-mate are having fun with them. :)

On the down-side, because I haven't been able to keep up with the PT I was doing before I was diagnosed with cancer, and I've lost some of the strength and coordination I had gained in the months prior to cancer treatment, my peroneals are really, really sore today on both legs. -- At least I'm even?

I received my monthly Lupron injection last week and started feeling tired/nauseous/heart palpitations yesterday. It wasn't too fun.

Took off of work (Thank God for FMLA) and will do my 15 min stretch and walk today, Im not sure how many miles I will do, but I need to get some movement in.

Bought some white roses yesterday. They always cheer me up.
