Tons of stuff to do today.

Karen: Good news on your dh's colonoscopy! I don't want another one bc I was to my stomach with the last one I had. You were lucky to get a dental appointment - good luck with your crown.

m0mmy: Tis the season to have a lot to do!

Dh has only taken one dose of extra strength Tylenol today. Didn't need any oxycodone. Yay! Going to take a long time to get his strength and stamina back but it will happen one day at a time.

I walked today. It was 48 degrees, beautiful sky. Felt fabulous!

Karen glad DH's colonoscopy turned out well. You will be glad when you get to a couple appointment-free months!

Wonderland, I'm glad DH is making progress. I don't believe in going around shooting people either. But we all know people who's treatment had to be delayed; sometimes with fatal results because insurance wouldn't pay. One's medical treatments should be between the patient and their doctor without someone sitting in an office (or an AI bot) saying what needs to be done and when. It is criminal to have 'health care' being a profit driven business. We're the only developed country where thousands of people go bankrupt trying to get the medical care they need. It makes me quite socialistic to dwell on it! 😮

WWW had so few people because there were two big funerals of long time citizens both happening yesterday morning. Many of our ladies were at one of the funerals (and several were working at the luncheons that followed). I went to HIT this morning & am on my way to Dance2fit now. I, myself, was at a funeral this afternoon. The Superintendent who hired me in 1975, and was my boss until he retired in 1993, died at the age of 91. He was a big advocate for both special and vocational education, so I very much appreciated his leadership. And always enjoyed visiting with him in later years about 'the good old days'. His daughter taught in the same special education as I, and his grandson was in my advisee group when he was in 7th grade. So many connections. It was a very big, and very personal funeral. They sang his favorite Christmas Carols & served Christmas cookies for the Coffee Hour afterwards.

Friday: Mat Pilates & a short walk (short because it was very, very cold and windy).

Saturday: Yoga & walking around a track today; also house cleaning.

Sunday: Danced around with Marshall Fitness on utube for 45 minutes.

Hope everyone is doing okay! I went to Zumba this morning & Dance2fit tonight. I did all my Christmas grocery shopping; except things that need to be fresh, which I will get Sunday or Monday.

The weather is warming up all week. The short days, the sun isn’t out long, but we still manage to walk. This morning I got a walk in as I didn’t need to leave as early. It was so nice, but cold

We leave in 9 days to go see our kids and granddaughter. Looking forward to seeing the little munchkin. it will be about 2 months since they were here. My granddaughter is 19 months today. She has such personality and it shines through in the photos my daughter sends us almost daily. We bought her a kitchen and a couple books for Chanukah. We will have to assemble the kitchen we when get there. DD#2 got her a FB yellow school bus with 2 little people and DS is getting her a coloring book for her age and fat crayons.

This is a busy last week before winter break! Several IEP meetings and reports to write for after the first of the year.

My brother has been sick for going on a month. He was in the hospital for 13 days, discharged and was back in the hospital 2 days later. He has a nasty lung infection that is antibiotic resistant. I talked to him the other day and he sounds good, but is tired and tired of being sick. He’s wasn’t sure how much longer he would be in the hospital. He lives in Ohio, so not close to stop by and say hello.

Not much else to report. Stay warm.

Hope your brother will start feel better soon, Karen. It's hard when your family lives far away, especially if they are sick and/or need some TLC. You will have so much fun with your granddaughter! I need one (a grandchild) so I can buy kitchens, coloring books etc.!!!

I went to a weight lifting class this morning & will go to Yoga tonight. We are predicated to have rounds of snow coming in later in the week. Boo! I have my annual physical Thursday morning & am not excited about the thought of driving all the way across town in a snow storm.

@karen1956 so sorry to hear about your brother. Wishing him well and thinking of you both ♥️

Karen: I am so sorry that your brother has been sick. That's a long time to stay in the hospital. Hope they find the right treatment for him.

Ruth: Ugh about your snow coming. You need to be able to get to your physical.

Ds came home for a day visit today. His partner and baby were not able to come. Will be seeing them in January. They are all going to her family for Christmas which is several states away so this was our Christmas visit. It was great to see him and getting caught up.

I had a bad situation with a neighbor last Thursday night. Only in my fantasy dreams have I actually cussed someone out like I did that night. It was bad but I'm proud that I stood up for myself. I've never talked (shouted at the top of my lungs) to anyone like that before. I'll have to let some time pass before I can describe what happened. I've been under stress with dh and his back and then this happened. I've had 2 afib episodes since Thursday so I've been taking it easy, deep breathing, etc. Today has been much better. I know seeing ds helped my soul.

Ds and I brought Dh to his doctor appointment today to have half of his surgical stitches removed. The incision is healing nicely. We go back on Monday to have the remaining ones removed. Improving a little bit each day!

Yikes, wonderland, I am so sorry about the situation with the neighbor. That is the last thing you need!! Look online for some guided relaxation or imagery CDs (they are probably on Utube too). I have a couple stress reduction CDs that I listen to very regularly (the mental part is also one of the reasons why I go to Yoga). Glad DH is doing better & you got to spent some time with DS.💓

Fabulous pictures, Ruth! How nice that everyone brought presents for nursing home residents. Everyone looks so festive in both pictures.

Trying to keep things easy and calm. I've had 3 afib episodes since my screaming encounter with my neighbor last Thursday. The longest lasted 15 hour.

I forgot to mention that on Monday I had to have a tooth implant removed (it was put in sometime this summer). The crown was added in July and all was good until a month later when it started moving and hurting. It was determined that the implant was causing the problem. So on Monday I had it removed and a shorter and wider one put it. I think the pain from the procedure also set me up for afib.

I met a friend for lunch yesterday. Treated myself to a manicure today which is something I rarely do. Been taking it easy and today has been a good day. Also I have laughed a lot this evening bc my dd visited and told us some very funny stories. Laughter is the best medicine!

Wonderland, you should treat yourself to things every day & be with people who make you laugh too!! Sending a hug before I go off to my Pilates/Stretch class.

I'm officially on winter break :) Definitely need the R and R. I've been exhausted. The last week before winter break is always a hard one - I had lots of IEP meetings, reports to write as well as see my kiddos. I'm off till January 6th. Then it's a long stretch till spring break the end of March with only MLK and President's day off.

My brother is in the hospital for 5 more days. Still on IV antibiotics. He said he is having lots of GI side effects. I'm sure such heavy doses of antibiotics are wrecking havoc with his gut. It's always a long road for him when he gets an infection - generally lung infection.

5 days till I see my favorite munchkin. Cold, damp, rainy/wet miserable weather will great us!! A big difference from the mild weather here. Today is 64f!! The 10 day forecast is low 60s to high 40s and now snow, though the mountains might get snow. When we get back from seeing the munchkin, we are heading to the mountains for a few days of hiking.

Monday I go for my last follow up on the cataract surgery and get a new Rx. I can't wait as my current glasses are not right. I don't wear them driving or walking at night and not even sure if they are the right strength for reading. I'll have to wait till I get home to get the new glasses. I order online so I should start looking at frames.

Wonder, sorry to hear about your A-fib episodes.

I know I've missed a lot, but just skimmed the posts.

    Have a great week-end.

Thanks for the hug, Ruth. ❤️

Karen: I am sorry about your brother. I hope the doctors have found the correct antibiotic for his infection. Sending healing vibes from NC to your brother.

Today has been a good day. My 2 sisters (twins) came to visit. They had gotten together earlier this week with my brother and sil to bake Christmas cookies. They brought my share of the cookies plus lunch! Just what the doctor ordered.

Dd makes lightweight clay earrings. She used glitter in these and I love how they sparkle.

    ruthbru Member Posts: 47,923

Karen, does your brother have family who live nearby who are helping him navigate his treatments? (I hope so!). It is so wearing to be ill for so long. It was the last day of school here too & I am sure there were many teachers sharing your exhaustion! Glad you can get the new glasses ordered. Excited to hear reports about what clever things your granddaughter is up to!

Wonderland, I LOVE those earring! If DD would make me a pair, I would be glad to pay her for them (plus postage, of course). Does she do other colors too?

    Hi Friends

I have been away for a month, just catching up. I had a business trip the week before Thanksgiving, then Thanksgiving and another business trip the week after - Dec 4-9 in NYC.

Arrived in NYC with a hotel on 6th Avenue the day of the NYC shooting that took place at another hotel 2 blocks away on , that was something…6th Ave (Ave of the Americas)

Returned home from that trip with a cold! it was 12 degrees in NYC that week and my southern VA body just couldn't take it. One night in the hotel I had the shakes I was so cold. Basically put me under the grey cloud for almost 10 days.

I do have a nice picture if myself and DH with the Rockefeller Christmas Tree a block away, I had a meeting at Christies Auction House on 49th and it was too crowded to get closer.

Today is the last day of school ahead of the holidays.

I got back to the gym this week, Sunday/Wednesay/Thursday/Friday…I'll call that a win.

    I'll post some pictures soon…

    Take care everyone, TT

Ruth - that is a great meme. And just about sums it up.

TT - look forward to seeing pictures

    Wonder - cute earrings

The weather has been above average - some days sun, others cloudy. And to go to damp, cold, miserable weather for a week!

My brother has 3 more days of treatment. He's on antibiotics 16 hours/day. The doctors are hopeful that this will keep him out of the hospital for 2 - 3 years.

I baked 3 batches of cookies - most to take to my kids, mailing my brother a couple or so dozen and the same for a neighbor. Our friends just 31 year old son is in the hospital waiting for a liver transplant. He needs a who liver so it means someone has to die for him to live. As our friends said, their whole world has been turned upside down. Our hearts go out to them. Cookies - almond mandel bread (Jewish biscotti), poppy ad sugar cookies.

Debating whether I want to get a hair cut before we leave, but definitely want a manicure, so need to leave time tomorrow. I have two appointments in the morning and want to drop off donations. Also need to start packing. I think my carry-on will be filled with cookies and other things for my daughter and DIL plus clothes for my granddaughter. I love shopping for other people especially online when shipping is free.

It was nice out here today, but tonight we're under a freezing rain advisory. Argh!! It will probably be like a skating rink out there in the morning.

Your cookies sound yummy, Karen! I hope that your brother can get out of the hospital & stay out! I feel so horrible for your friends & their son. Your world would be upside down. I just talked to my sister, her daughter-in-law's 38 year old brother was in an construction accident & is not expected to live. A very, very sad holiday it will be for them.

I found some Holiday Dance Music on utube & danced around the house to it for 45 minutes yesterday & did a Yoga session on utube today. Right now I am watching The Kennedy Center Honors, which I love every year!

Quickly checking in to say Happy Holidays. Our walking group walked yesterday morning. & I went to HIT last night. I went to LIFT this morning after making pies & before starting on the Christmas Eve dinner. I will be getting the turkey in the oven in a few minutes. Safe travels for all who are heading out of town!

o those who celebrate, wishing you a wonderful Christmas. I hope it is everything you want it to be!

My brother is home. I think all told he was in the hospital 26 or 27 days. Now let's hope that he stays out of the hospital for long time.

No white Christmas for Denver. We tomorrow morning to see out favorite munchkin and her parents.😍

    Safe travels to all traveling

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable holiday! We had a fun Christmas & are extending the fun because it is DIL's birthday today. She & DS have invited us and her family over for dinner tonight & tomorrow my brother & SIL are taking us to lunch on their way through town on the way home from spending Christmas with her sister……so more eating opportunities! I did go to HIT this morning & will go to a Yoga/Pilates class tomorrow. I am almost out of leftovers here; which is good as I don't dare get on a scale right now!!

    TT: Hope you're feeling better.

Karen: Thankful that your brother is out of the hospital. So sorry about your friend's son. I can't imagine what they are going through.

Ruth: Happy Birthday to your dil! I'm sure it was good to see your brother and sil again.

We had dd and sil over for Christmas Eve dinner. Ds, dsp (dear son partner) and granddaughter are visiting her family in Chicago for the holidays so it was just the 4 of us. This past Saturday we had a big family party with dh's side of the family.

Christmas day was just dh and me. I've been having some afib episodes this month and was in afib that morning. But by the afternoon I felt worse. Ended up calling 911. EMS performed an EKG and the results were that I was in ventricular tachycardia. He said, "We are quickly taking you to the hospital." So I went by ambulance to the hospital 30 minutes away where my cardiologist is. Was given an IV in the ambulance and by the time I arrived at the ed I was back in only afib. There was a whole team of medical staff ready to shock me but I didn't need it thank goodness.

There is good news. My cardiologist and electrophysiologist determined that I was not in v tach. I had heart flutter and the medicine that I have been on for 5+ years for afib and has been my godsend to control afib made everything worse. Surprisingly that is a possible side effect of the medicine so I have been very lucky.

I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights and came home yesterday. I'm off that medicine and on different ones now. I will be getting scheduled for an ablation as soon as I hear from the scheduler for a surgery date. My cardiologist has told me I'm a good candidate for one. My medicine was good to me for 5+ years but it's time for the next step. I can't wait!

    ruthbru Member Posts: 47,923

Yikes, wonderland, that was not the Christmas surprise you wanted! Glad you went in right away & are now on the right track. Hopefully they can get your scheduled soon!!

Karen, I imagine you are enjoying your granddaughter very much!! It will be hard to come home!!

We had a very nice evening celebrating DIL's birthday. Her parents came up, so we had a nice visit. Their two daughters birthday are December 26 & 28. They said they have always made a point to celebrate each birthday separate from each other and from the holidays. We had a nice time catching up with my brother & SIL. It's not official yet (so keep it under your hat 😉), but their 36 year old daughter (my niece) is about to get engaged! She has never been married before, so that is pretty exciting!

I have been eating like crazy, but also getting some exercise. I went to HIT & Dance2fit Thursday, a Yoga/Pilates class Friday, and danced around to Marshall Fitness on utube for 45 minutes today. I would have taken Bruno for a walk; but he was so tired from all the extra commotion that he didn't even want to go!

Ruth: Exciting news about your niece! Let us know when it's official. Good looking WWW group.

I've been taking it easy today. My exercise has been watching TV. My sil and bil came over for a nice long visit.

If you have Netflix I recommend the movie Carry On. It's a thriller.

Our trip to our kids and granddaughter is coming to an end :( It’s been a great visit except for rain all day yesterday! It was raining this morning so we took her to an indoor play place and spend about 1 1/2 hours having fun. My GD is so much fun. She has so much personality. I will miss her smile when we go home. My daughter goes back to work tomorrow and our flight is in the afternoon. We have a couple errands to run and pack. We will call the car service to come for 1:30 as our flight is at 4pm. If on time, we get back to Denver around 6:15pm. Our son will pick us up. Lots and lots of picture.

Hard to believe that tomorrow ends 2024. I can’t say I’m sorry to see it go as it has had its challenges health wise. I just hope things settle down in 2025 but I’m not certain. My labs for my nephrologist were wonky and he wants them repeated in 3 - 6 weeks. I hope the results were just a fluke. I have labs for my hematologist on Jam 7 and I see him on January 13.

    Ruth - great picture.

Wonder - hope you get resolve with your heart issues.
