Hope you can still find the ring, Wonderland!

A cold rain came down all day & it was so windy that it felt like needles were going through your skin when you were outside. It has changed over to snow, so we'll see what we wake up too. I had a haircut this morning, took Bruno to a vet appointment, went out for a soda with a friend who needed to vent & to Core. I need to march around the house to get 900 more steps!

Ruth, you need to dance with Dancing with the Stars to your steps in!

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women, inside for sure. It's been a horrible, nasty day here. We didn't get much snow, but there's ice underneath, and the wind has been gusting to 60 mph all day. Yuck! My Book Club meets tonight, and I'm glad somebody else has volunteered to drive!

Ruth: That sounds miserable! But I admire all you ladies for getting out and doing what you love.

We had a warm rainy day so I stayed inside and painted a 12 inch moon cutout dd bought for me after Halloween. She got a good deal on it. Now I'm ready for next year's Halloween lol.

Been bumbling around our rental trying to get things arranged so when it’s time for the tree to go up, I won’t be falling over stuff.

It's cold here, but thankfully the wind has died down. I went to HIT this morning & will go to Dance2fit tonight. We are having a 1980s dance party, so that will be fun!

Ruth - it was quite cold here yesterday, but not ND cold. It's warming up over the week-end. But it will start getting colder and Turkey day will be in the low 30s.

Wonder - beautiful moon. You are so talented. Hope you find your DH's ring. Many. many years ago, I was sitting on the grass in the front year and swatted at a bug and lost a necklace. It was so special as it had the diamond that was in the ring when we got engaged all those years ago. I rented a metal detector but never found it. Of course the "charm" was small and the metal edge was picked up by the metal detector.

I had my second eye, the left done today. It is more irritated than the first. Now I can't see distance with my glasses - line less bifocals, but can't see anything close without them. I have to wait at least 3 weeks to get new glasses. I dread the "on/off, on/off of reading glasses - that's why I started with the line less bifocals - putting glasses on a bald head didnt't work 😂

I'm officially on Thanksgiving break as I never work Fridays. Looking forward to the time off- catch up in the house and maybe sleep in till 6!!! I've been waking up every 2 hours and get up at 4:45 or 5 on work days.

    Sweet dreams.

m0mmy: Have fun arranging your rental and deciding where to place your tree.

Ruth: I bet your 80's dance party was a blast.

Karen: So sorry you didn't find your necklace. Dh lost his wedding band 2 years after we were married. We rented a metal detector and found it. Really hope we find it again. Hope your eye feels better tomorrow. I'm sure you're glad to have those surgeries behind you.

I brought dh to the hospital for a pre-op appointmet. His surgery is in 2 weeks. Lots to do between now and then, including his birthday and Thanksgiving. I make To Do lists and my list now is pretty long.

My only exercise today was cleaning the basement. Now I can mark it off my list!

We have a spot in the dining room which we aren’t using for anything much. So the tree will go there.

Here's a picture from our Dance2Fit 80s night. A couple gals who took Jazzercise in the 1980s got together with the teacher and resurrected a couple of the songs they did back then. So fun!

Karen, I hope your eye is feeling a little better.

I chipped ice from the driveway & danced around to Marshall Fitness this afternoon.

Ruth: Your 80's exercise class picture is so rad!

Ruth: Hoping your eye feels better today.

Met dd for coffee this morning then we ran a few errands. Came home and raked for 45 minutes. We had a very windy night a few nights ago and most of the remaining chestnut leaves fell. Then the wind blew them all around the backyard to areas that were without leaves. I'm hoping more wind comes and blows them far away lol. My neighbor has trees that have small leaves and all he does is mow over them. He did it for the 2nd time last weekend and his yard looked great. Then my chestnut leaves blew all over his yard. I felt bad and hope they blow far away also!

*this is old news but remember the Cookie Training for leaders that I was in charge of showing the 79 powerpoint slides? I meant to report that bc I practiced so much I had it condensed and we were out of the meeting earlier than expected. No way was I going to be able to read 17 pages of talking points for the slides! It was a cold drizzly night and I was glad we were able to get the material/information out in a short amount of time.

Raked for 30 minutes. Just a few more leaves on the trees - hope to mow the yard next week and that should be it for the year.

Glad you were able to get through all the information quickly, Wonderland. People tend to zone out if something goes on too long!

An icy mist was coming down yesterday, so I found some exercises om utube to do at home. It's cold but sunny today. I went to Zumba this morning, then spend 45 minutes picking up branches & twigs that were blown off the trees in our 60mph windstorm the other day. I will go to HIT tonight.

An icy mist sounds like I would need to stay inside with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. We had a beautiful day with the temperature almost 70 degrees and the same will be for tomorrow. Things change on Thanksgiving day - colder and rainy.

Wednesday is dh's birthday. Ds, dsp (ds's partner), and dgd are coming to celebrate along with dd and sil! So I'm cooking dinner all day on Wednesday, plus baking a pie and other dishes for Thanksgiving gathering at my sister's. And I'm cooking a "mini Thanksgiving" meal for ds to take home with him bc they can't attend the gathering at my sister's. Luckily I don't have to cook any meat bc I've ordered a Boston Butt that's for dh's meal local organization cooks and I've ordered a small smoked turkey for ds's meal from a local restaurant.

My exercise today was walking around big Walmart plus 2 other stores and cleaning house. Really need to do my usual aerobic walk tomorrow.

    What is a 'Boston Butt'????

  • wonderland
    wonderland Member Posts: 2,928

LOL Ruth! It's pork shoulder. You can chop it, slice it, pull it……

    From the Internet:

In Colonial and Revolutionary New England, butchers would use specialty barrels called butts to store a particular cut of pork. The butchering technique for this cut of pork also seems to have originated in New England and Boston, giving the cut the name "Boston butt".

Gonna get a lot of walking tomorrow. Have an eye dr.appointment tomorrow. Going to walk there and back. About 2.5 miles both ways.

    ruthbru Member Posts: 47,821

LOL, Wonderland! I had never heard of a Boston Butt before!

I have been doing errands all day & will go to Core in a few minutes.

I went to see Wicked today. Great movie. DD#2 and I saw the play several years ago. She went to see it last night where she lives. Went by myself as DH didn't want to go - and to try to invite a friend was too much work as you don't chitchat in a movie. By myself was okay. It was part one and at the end it said "to be continued".

The mountains are getting hammered with snow. Denver might get up to 3" or nothing tomorrow but it will be cold.

Tomorrow I have to go to Costco to get my hearing aids checked. Sure hope the place isn't a zoo as I need to return something. Not sure there is anything that I need to buy.

M0mmy: Hope your eye appointment goes well tomorrow.

Ruth: If you look up a picture with the outline of a pig meat cuts you will see the Boston Butt section.

Karen: My sil saw the movie and loved it. She didn't know it was only the first part. Good luck at Costco tomorrow. I had to go back to Walmart for a couple of things today and it was hopping.

Walked this afternoon. I've been cooking for dh's birthday tomorrow.

Went well, only thing they found was that I have a shadow of a cataract in one eye. They said age related and they are gonna monitor it. Otherwise all is well except prescription has changed, so it looks like I am headed for bifocals now.

  • karen1956
    karen1956 Member Posts: 4,644

Wonder - happy birthday to your DH.

M0mmy - I've been wearing line less bifocals for 15 or more years. I also have transition on my lenses. I hated the on/off, on/off of reading glasses. I'm curious what my Rx will be when I go for my one month check up. I forget how long I need to wait to get new Rx, but I think it's then. I dread getting reading glasses, but I will depend on if I can see close up. Before cataract surgery, I couldn't read any close up without my glasses - even if I extended my arm as far as I could.😂

It's was snowing earlier and cold. The mountains are getting dumped on! Great for the ski areas.

DH saw the cardiologist for a stress test this morning - things are looking great. His doc wants them done every 4 to 5 years. They told him the practice is moving but couldn't say where. The hospital they are affiliated with wants to bring in a different group. So he won't know till March if he can stay with the doctor or have to look for a new one.Next Tuesday he has his 5 year colonoscopy. First appointment of the day at 7:00am so we have to be there at 6:00am. Thankfully it is only 10 minutes away.

Puttered in the house this morning, but didn't get as much done as I could have. After lunch I went to get my car emissions tested. 50 minutes in line and getting it done. When I left the line as half way done the street. I forgot it as the end of the month. My tags renew in December, but I can only go on Fridays and by the tine winter break rolls around its almost Christmas.

I will save the cooking tomorrow as I really don't have much to cook - it's just DH, DS and me. 1/2 turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and pumpkin and pecan pies. I use pre-made pie crusts. We will eat it again Friday night with one new vegetable, so really cooking for 2 meals. I will save a piece of each pie for me and hope my son takes the rest home.

Friday or Sunday I'm going to go to the Apple store. I really need to update my phone and I want to get an iPad to replace my computer - computer is from 2015 and is my son's. The Apple store are so NOT hard sell. the gal asks me why I want to upgrade my phone. They don't try to up sale you. I was thinking of getting an iPhone 14 but after looking at the specs DH said to go with the 15 as he likes the power cord. I have an XR that is at least 6 years old - maybe 7. It's in great shape, but the battery doesn't last all that long. The reason for going now and getting both is Apple is giving gift cards with purchases Friday - Monday that you can use toward the purchase. I was only going to get either the phone or the iPad, but $50 to $75 gift card is worth getting both now. MY educator discount is $20 on the iPad.

Ruth - great picture of the ladies.

    Have a great day.

m0mmy: I have a shadow of a cataract also but it's been over a year since I had my eyes examined and I feel like things have changed.

    Ruth: Another fabulous WWW picture.

Karen: That's great that your dh's stress test had good results. Hope he can stay with the same doctor. Dh has an Apple 15 and really likes it. Those are nice gift cards and you'll love having a new phone and iPad.

Dh says Thank-you for the birthday wishes. It was such a nice day. Dh got to meet our dgd for the first time - such a tender moment. We had a great visit. And the Boston Butt was delicious. It's much bigger than it looks in this picture.

MOmmy, I love my bifocals! They make my life much less complicated.

Karen, I have been seeing your weather on the news. It's really cold here, but the weatherman says that's good because it's keeping the storms south of us. So I guess I won't complain. Glad DH's stress test went well. You will love an updated phone and Ipad once you get used to them.

Wonderland, glad your DH had a good birthday and got to meet the new baby! The Boston Butt looks delicious, but it's name still makes me laugh!! 🤣🤣

I’ve been wearing glasses since 5th grade. Never had the option of glasses just for reading.
