It's really cold and so windy here that most of outside decorations have been knocked over!
After walking, one of our friends hosted a yummy breakfast at her house. 'Tis the season!

Got the outside decorating done. Tomorrow will be to concentrate on getting where the tree will go cleared and get the tree up and decorated among other housework.

Thinking of you, Wonderland, as your husband has his surgery tomorrow. Let us know how things go.

Just reading about the wind and cold temperatures make my bones ache!
Great picture, Ruth. How nice that your friend cooked for so many of you.
It's been a slow day with our eyes on tomorrow. I was able to get in a short walk. I'll post tomorrow to let you know how the surgery went.

Wonder, when it gets brutally cold, my arthritis acts up. Although, I’d rather deal with the cold than 90 degree heat

Hope you will have a good report for us, Wonderland.
HIT this morning, Dance2fit tonight, shopping in between.

Got my tree up and decorated

Dh’s surgery went fine. Doctor removed bone fragments that were causing the nerve pain. Time will tell. Relieved it’s over. Surgery lasted about 1.5 hours. I’m sitting in his hospital room now. It looks like he’s on a cruise!

Don’t know why that picture posted side ways. At least on my phone it did.

I imagine he doesn't feel like he's on a cruise today, but I am glad surgery is behind him!
I went to pilates/sculpt this morning & did more Christmas shopping/wrapping etc. next chore will be getting the cards out!

Dh was discharged from the hospital yesterday! He is not experiencing any pain down the side of his leg that the nerve created so I feel very confident that the surgery has been successful. The only pain he has now is from the surgical site. Making sure he takes his pain pills on time does help but he still is uncomfortable. Time will help with that. He has to wear a back brace for at least 6 weeks and probably longer.
A friend of mine was having pain down the back of her leg to her ankle. She had an MRI 2 weeks ago. She has a cyst on her spine that is pressing against a nerve that's causing the pain. Her back surgery is scheduled in January. Her husband died this summer and I hate this has happened to her.
My exercise today has been addressing his needs (drinks, food, etc.)

Sounds like DH is doing great! I feel sorry for your friend, but hopefully surgery will get her back to normal
I went to Yoga this morning & on a walk out in the country with DH & Bruno. It was very nice here today, but supposed to turn tomorrow. We are in a zig zag pattern!

I did an indoor walking DVD yesterday. I went to Zumba this morning & will go to HIT this afternoon.

Dh had a hard day yesterday. Had to bring him to the ER as he was having on and off again chills. All tests performed (blood work, chest x-ray, Covid, flu, urine) were fine. Was given an antibiotic and we came home.
Today has been much better. He could have taken his pain pill 4.5 hours ago (he can take one every 4 hours) and has felt like he didn't need one. This is a good sign. He's taking one now for sleep and nighttime.
My exercise today has been addressing his needs.

Glad DH is doing better today, Wonderland!

I've been baking all day & trying not to sample anything! Core and Yoga tonight.

Love your WWW picture. Smaller group than last week. I guess everyone's busy.
Dh is improving every day. He actually was able to lay on his back today - something he has not been able to do since August. Has only had one pain pill today. Things are looking up!
In light of the murder last week in NYC, dh would have gotten relief much earlier if the insurance company had not denied a MRI until he had 6 weeks of PT. The xray he had early on didn't show the ruptured disc. He suffered needlessly until he was finally approved for the mri which showed it. Then it took time to get a doctor's appointment, although we feel lucky that he got in as soon as he did and that surgery was scheduled fairly quickly, all things considered. I think of all the patients just like him who are denied procedures, medications, or whatever medical treatment that a physician said was necessary but someone in the insurance company put restrictions on it or totally denies it with no alternative. What happened in NY was disgusting but it shed light on a serious problem.
Well, I have been getting no exercise. I feel my tail getting bigger 😃. The weather hasn't helped bc it's been raining for 2 days. It will be clear tomorrow so I'm declaring right now that I will walk!

Wonder - good news on your DH
DH met with his GI doctor. All was good with his colonoscopy. Polyps were small and cancer free. GI doc said that DH will only have 1 or possibly 2 more. He typically does not like doing them past 75 or 80 as the risks outweigh any benefit. GI doc said that polyps were small, 1cm and they don't worry about the small ones and he also only had 3. Based on his GI doc, I'm guessing I'll only have 2 more but time will tell as my GI doc considers me high risk.
Tuesday I had my every 4 month peridontal exam. A tooth they have been watching, dentist feels its time to go ahead with a crown. He said it would last much longer than trying to replace the filling. The only appointment I could before the end of the year is tomorrow afternoon. The office is closed the 23d through after new years. It is my teams last meeting for 24 and our holiday get together. I will be late to it. I didn't want to wait till January as it would mean meeting a new deductible.
Looking forward to my one month follow up (it has to be a month since the second eye) so I can get a new Rx. My progressive lens no longer work. So I'm taking them off for distance and wearing them for close up. Not sure what is going on as in the morning and at night, I tend to close my right eye when on the computer or my phone. It may be nothing.
I have not been to work all day very day since I went back on October 1st! January 6th I have labs for my hematologist and the next week my 4 month check up. Plus I'll also have the second appointment for the crown. I think otherwise, appointments will slow down!! I don't see anything on my calendar for Feb, March. Let's hope it stays that way.
Sweet dreams!

Tons of stuff to do today.

Karen: Good news on your dh's colonoscopy! I don't want another one bc I was to my stomach with the last one I had. You were lucky to get a dental appointment - good luck with your crown.
m0mmy: Tis the season to have a lot to do!
Dh has only taken one dose of extra strength Tylenol today. Didn't need any oxycodone. Yay! Going to take a long time to get his strength and stamina back but it will happen one day at a time.
I walked today. It was 48 degrees, beautiful sky. Felt fabulous!

Karen glad DH's colonoscopy turned out well. You will be glad when you get to a couple appointment-free months!
Wonderland, I'm glad DH is making progress. I don't believe in going around shooting people either. But we all know people who's treatment had to be delayed; sometimes with fatal results because insurance wouldn't pay. One's medical treatments should be between the patient and their doctor without someone sitting in an office (or an AI bot) saying what needs to be done and when. It is criminal to have 'health care' being a profit driven business. We're the only developed country where thousands of people go bankrupt trying to get the medical care they need. It makes me quite socialistic to dwell on it! 😮
WWW had so few people because there were two big funerals of long time citizens both happening yesterday morning. Many of our ladies were at one of the funerals (and several were working at the luncheons that followed). I went to HIT this morning & am on my way to Dance2fit now. I, myself, was at a funeral this afternoon. The Superintendent who hired me in 1975, and was my boss until he retired in 1993, died at the age of 91. He was a big advocate for both special and vocational education, so I very much appreciated his leadership. And always enjoyed visiting with him in later years about 'the good old days'. His daughter taught in the same special education as I, and his grandson was in my advisee group when he was in 7th grade. So many connections. It was a very big, and very personal funeral. They sang his favorite Christmas Carols & served Christmas cookies for the Coffee Hour afterwards.

Friday: Mat Pilates & a short walk (short because it was very, very cold and windy).
Saturday: Yoga & walking around a track today; also house cleaning.
Sunday: Danced around with Marshall Fitness on utube for 45 minutes.

Hope everyone is doing okay! I went to Zumba this morning & Dance2fit tonight. I did all my Christmas grocery shopping; except things that need to be fresh, which I will get Sunday or Monday.

The weather is warming up all week. The short days, the sun isn’t out long, but we still manage to walk. This morning I got a walk in as I didn’t need to leave as early. It was so nice, but cold
We leave in 9 days to go see our kids and granddaughter. Looking forward to seeing the little munchkin. it will be about 2 months since they were here. My granddaughter is 19 months today. She has such personality and it shines through in the photos my daughter sends us almost daily. We bought her a kitchen and a couple books for Chanukah. We will have to assemble the kitchen we when get there. DD#2 got her a FB yellow school bus with 2 little people and DS is getting her a coloring book for her age and fat crayons.
This is a busy last week before winter break! Several IEP meetings and reports to write for after the first of the year.
My brother has been sick for going on a month. He was in the hospital for 13 days, discharged and was back in the hospital 2 days later. He has a nasty lung infection that is antibiotic resistant. I talked to him the other day and he sounds good, but is tired and tired of being sick. He’s wasn’t sure how much longer he would be in the hospital. He lives in Ohio, so not close to stop by and say hello.
Not much else to report. Stay warm.

Hope your brother will start feel better soon, Karen. It's hard when your family lives far away, especially if they are sick and/or need some TLC. You will have so much fun with your granddaughter! I need one (a grandchild) so I can buy kitchens, coloring books etc.!!!
I went to a weight lifting class this morning & will go to Yoga tonight. We are predicated to have rounds of snow coming in later in the week. Boo! I have my annual physical Thursday morning & am not excited about the thought of driving all the way across town in a snow storm.

@karen1956 so sorry to hear about your brother. Wishing him well and thinking of you both ♥️

Karen: I am so sorry that your brother has been sick. That's a long time to stay in the hospital. Hope they find the right treatment for him.
Ruth: Ugh about your snow coming. You need to be able to get to your physical.
Ds came home for a day visit today. His partner and baby were not able to come. Will be seeing them in January. They are all going to her family for Christmas which is several states away so this was our Christmas visit. It was great to see him and getting caught up.
I had a bad situation with a neighbor last Thursday night. Only in my fantasy dreams have I actually cussed someone out like I did that night. It was bad but I'm proud that I stood up for myself. I've never talked (shouted at the top of my lungs) to anyone like that before. I'll have to let some time pass before I can describe what happened. I've been under stress with dh and his back and then this happened. I've had 2 afib episodes since Thursday so I've been taking it easy, deep breathing, etc. Today has been much better. I know seeing ds helped my soul.
Ds and I brought Dh to his doctor appointment today to have half of his surgical stitches removed. The incision is healing nicely. We go back on Monday to have the remaining ones removed. Improving a little bit each day!

Yikes, wonderland, I am so sorry about the situation with the neighbor. That is the last thing you need!! Look online for some guided relaxation or imagery CDs (they are probably on Utube too). I have a couple stress reduction CDs that I listen to very regularly (the mental part is also one of the reasons why I go to Yoga). Glad DH is doing better & you got to spent some time with DS.💓
