BarbaraA- It figures about the pit. Wink

02bhealthy-I had not heard about the bio-identical hormones, but I do think it sounds very interesting and something that I am going to look into after I am through some of the steps here. Let me know what you think.

oakley ~ Yay for B9 results on your right side! So glad to hear the biopsy went well along w/the SNB. A terrible headache - awful. I've often wondered if that would happen to me because I have had some doozy migraines. I can only imagine how you must have felt having to go to several places, in & out, in & out, feeling like crap. geez..... I will be holding good thoughts for you next Tues for biop results.

Sheila ~ I have no hair growth on the bottom half of my right armpit due to the rads I rec'd. I have a bit of hair that grows on the upper half that was not radiated. I can still faintly see the line where the rads ended, even on my chest.

Renee ~ I will be thinking of you, also, next Tues. for your mamm. As you may have seen, I just had mine last week. Result: negative findings. I so hate the anxiety of the whole thing. And, I wanted to tell you about when I saw my Rad Onc this week, Tues, he wants to see me again next year!! I was shocked, I figured I wouldn't have to see him again. He was running late (30 mins), & I happened to be 30 mins early & then they took someone before me even tho I was his first appt of the day, & then I waited 40 mins more & he was in the room FIVE mins. Crazy!

Michelle ~ I know under the Alternative, Complementary & Holistic Treatment forum, there is a bio-identical hormones thread. And, several gals on the Natural Girls thread are very knowledgeable about them.

    {{hugs to all}}

I never got all sensation back in my arm after the SNB.  I have a numb strip from my incision line down o my elbow about 3 inches wide.  I can't feel when I put deodorant on.  i still have hair growth, but my rads didn't hit that spot, but I would have to look and see if the growth was affected.  I never let it get long enough to really see it.

Meece - I haven't gotten the feeling back in my arm either from the SNB.  Have a numb strip as well.  I it feels weird to put on deodarant.  Have no hair grown and that's alright too.  Seems my rads just hit that spot - can tell my the red areas from the rads.

    Have a Great Day

I need some reassurance, I have only had one of these TM test done.  CEA was done when I was dx in 3/07 and the results were 1.3 normal range is <3.0

I just got back from my onco F/U visit with blood work results.

Calcium normal, Vit D is low, that's not a problem I can take more D, I was doing 800 now I have to double that.

CEA this time is 1.4 normal range is <3.0, still good.

CA 15-3 is 30.3 normal range is 0-31.1, I think that is high normal.

    Here's the scary one:

    CA 27-29 is 45.9 normal range is 0.0 - 38.6

My oncologist is not too concerned because the others are in the normal range and wants to repeat blood tests in 4 months. FrownSurprised

Take deep breaths. My onc does the CA 27-29 but he told me the test is not very reliable. So I would relax and just wait for the next test.

I'm so frustrated, I just talked to my BS about going back to teaching after Thanksgiving. Now mind you he said a reserved ok when I saw him 10 days ago. Now he says yes, but I have to let him know if the insision has healed before he will for sure let me go back. It has been 2 months since it broke open, and all the problems since, and I already know if it doesn't heal I have to more done, but in the mean time I'm out of sick days. I just don't know what to do. If I can't work how am I going to pay for insurance, food, the house, ect. To make maters worse my husband has to have knee surgery next month, and will be out of work for 6 weeks or so. When it rains it pours.

kira1234-Have you checked to see if your school district will allows other teachers to give you days.  Our local school district does that.  I work for the county and we have an option to join the sick pool which I am thankful I did.  You are right it seems when it rains it poors.  Will pray that your body is ready for you to return to work and that your husband will heal quickly

Sherry, Our school district has it too, but I'm not part of it. I had 2 months of sick days built up that I have now used up. My principal is being really nice though. He is having another teacher and I co-teach together. We will have 28 kids together. That way when I need time off they can pull in a sub without the children suffering to much. That was what I was most concerned about, I don't want the kids to suffer because of my problems.

If those blood tests are not reliable, why the heck do they order them.  Just to scare the SHIT out of us.  Surprised

    kira,

What about disability after you've used up all your sick days? With my district, I could have slipped under disability once I had been out 30 days and used up my sick days. With my surgery in July though, it didn't come to that, and I worked through rads.

That's a thought. I will have to see if I can. I can understand my BS fears with an open wound that will not heal. I know being around so many kids might pose a risk of infection to me, which is something he wants to avoid.

Monday I'm going to call my PCP and demand a test for colorectal cancer, maybe it is not just a hemorrhoid.

Deb, my med onco doesn't do the CEA, CA 15, or any of the others he told me that in breast cancer they are unreliable for reoccurrence.  However, my Rad Onco feels otherwise and orders the stupid test everytime I see him.  It really stresses me out.  I have considered asking him not to do it this time.  There are other blood tests that will indicate cancer better than that, like an elevated white count or elevated platelets and lymphocytes.  Etc... Try not to stress over it too much, but I know that is easier said than done.

Val Jean glad your mammo was negative!!!

The only test that was High was the CA 27-29 all the others were normal.  That is why she was not that concerned. I have calmed down a lot since I took 1/2 a Xanax.  She also has ordered a Hepatic function panel, CBCD and LDH tests along with the CEA, CA15-5 and CA 27-29.  I gave a pint of blood when we had ARC Bloodmobile come to our company.  I wonder if that has anything to do with the High results.  I have an appointment with my BS Tuesday, I will have to ask her.

Thanks everybody! I was relieved to say the least to get that mamm out of the way.

deborye ~ I wonder, too, on giving us the TM tests, I always get more anxious when I have my blood drawn which is coming up for me the Monday after Thanksgiving, one week before Onc appt. I am also more concerned with the other results, those are the ones I ask about first, which ones are red-flagged so to speak. The last time I had the results in my hot little hand, I sat in my car after & compared to the prev results (I know, sounds crazy, but I took the paper with me so I could check before I even got home - Embarassed )

If they are really not that reliable, then why in the hell do they give them?? I know, it's something else to check.... blah, blah, blah .........Yell deborye, I agree, try not to worry about it. Yeah, tell me that in a couple of weeks!!

I'm not going to be up as late tonight because my darling little grandchildren are sleeping upstairs & I have my alarm set for 6:30 to get my shower in before they wake up. DD & son-in-law are headed to FL to the Nascar race & G'ma & G'pa get to have the kiddies until Monday afternoon. YAY!! I just hope little Mackenzie doesn't get too upset because Mommy will be gone, she is such a momma's girl. But, she's Grandma's girl, too; my DD always says, "Mom, when you are around, it is all about Grandma!"   Embarassed   Innocent

    Have a GREAT weekend everybody!

    Yea Valjean on your mammo!!!!!

None of my doctors run the tumor marker blood tests and for that I am grateful.  I actually have a spreadsheet of all my labs on a flash drive in my purse.  The first thing I do when I get access to a computer is update my spreadsheet, look at high, lows and normals.  Kinda of OCD I know, but I hate shuffling through pages of labs results.

My MRI came back CLEAN so I am going to be deported on Tuesday!!!
