Hello everyone. I am new to this site and i was just wondering if any of you are doing hereptin without chemo? I had a lumpectomy in June 2010, HDR brachytherapy in july and then started tamoxafin. I am also doing Herceptin treatments weekly. The herceptin is part of a research study my onc got me into for stage one patients. wondering if any of you are having trouble with the treatments.

Cyndi - Welcome to the group. You have found a wonderful group of ladies. I can't help you on the herceptin issue but I am sure someone will chime in later with some words of wisdom.

Cyndi welcome to the group, sorry I can't help you either but I am sure someone will come along.

Cyndi - I was wondering when they would do a trial with Herceptin ALONE for early Stage BC. I was on a trial for the TCH with only four rounds of TC. Herceptin is really not a chemo but a targeted maintenance drug that only attaches to the HER2+ cells and shuts them down. The SE's are minimal (I had headache and slight body aches the day of) How exciting to have this opportunity, I would have loved to have had the option of forgoing chemo and not losing my hair but at the time it just was not available0

I'm not new to the site, but new to this thread. I think my stats speak for themselves, except to say my IDC was 3 mm in size. Done with treatments and surgeries! Almost 8 months out from dx and 12 weeks pfc; feeling really good except for a backache that is sometimes worse than others.

Okay, the camera is finally unpacked. Guess I do clean up pretty good.

Sheila - Glad to be back. The assistant head waiter in the dining room was from Turkey and I got to practice my Turkish. He was surprised when I spoke his language. Everyone on the ship is from somewhere other than the US.0

Cyndi.....Welcome.
I'm not sure about your question.
Did you have any chemo at all or they just want to do Herceptin.
I started Herceptin with my 4 rounds of Taxol and continued for 52 weeks.
Herceptin was approved for early stage women during my DX. I was one of the first patients to receive it in 2005.

Jo...Neler konustunuz?0

Sheila - Guess what? I don't remember all the words - can't figure out what you are saying. It has been over 20 years since I was in Turkey.

What did you talk about

Great pic Jo!!! Always fun to see who you are talking too:) (though I do like your butterfly avatar too:)

Sheila - Basically would greet him each time I saw him and would tell him how good the food was. We did not have that much time to talk.
Sandee - I like to see pictures of the gals too. I was going to use a photo for my avatar but you never know who is on here for sure. I was on Facebook for a short time but there is a person I am trying to avoid - don't want her to know my business. She has a very big mouth and talks about things she should not. Plus she is bad about not getting the story straight. So, I stick with the avatar. I can't imagine anyone going through and reading all the pages that are posted here.

Great pic Jo!!! Nice to have you back.

Jo - I remember you saying that! I agree with you...which is why mine is now a sunset. Perhaps when I do not feel so raw..or get through the first mammogram I won't feel this way but there you go....I seem to change how I feel on a daily basis. In any case, it was / is a great picture!

Sandee - I haven't had my first mammo yet either - that happens June 3rd. Perhaps after that I will change the way I feel and not give a crap about what that person says or does and change my avatar. Seems we both feel the same way about this whole thing.

I have to make an appt for bone Density Test.
Mammogram will be after June 8.

Sheila - Had a bone density scan after surgery. First mammo is June 3rd, annual pap is June 8th, 4 month follow up with MO is June 20th. Guess June will be a busy month for appts.

Have a bone density test on Thursday..............Cancelled a BS appt. today, it was the same time as Rads.........This is nuts
