Granny - nope... fraid I don't know your friends :(  It was  a long shot...

So tonight my friend (DX three weeks before me) and I went to the American Cancer Society's 'Look Good, Feel Better' program - had a speaker discuss make-up, nails, wigs, head coverings for folks in the midst of cancer treatments... and we got a goodie bag with tons of full sized stuff - mascara, eye shadow, skin cream, makeup brushes, lipstick/gloss - from Almay, Avon, Estee Lauder, BeautiControl, Prescriptions... I suggest calling the Amer Cancer Society to see where they have one in your area.. .all free - served dinner - good info -- was fun...

Back from vaca - had a wonderful time!

Great news, vhshea, on the "No Chemo" & the oncotype score of 12. Mine was 14, so no chemo for me either.

We went to Texas on our vacation last September and we had rain every day we were there. We laughed because last summer and fall we had severe drought conditions here in Cincinnati and we go to Texas on vacation and it rains!  I imagine that all you Texans are wishing for that rain right about now...

we did not, sherry - it was 10% chance of isolated rains... our last water bill was HUGE... but we've had summers like this before.. sort of like BC, just need to get through it..

vhshea I just got my water bill yesterday and it was high.  We have a very large yard and we are taking part of it out and making vegetable gardens there.  Eventually we plan to take part of our back yard and make more patio and xero scaping.  This will leave the front and side of our house that will have to be watered.  Anything to cut down the water bill in the summer, it is a killer.

It is a scorcher here again to day - close to 100.  Yikes!  I'm glad I have a little bitty yard but had plenty of plants that need watering every couple of days.  I don't pay for water as it is part of my compensation package for managing this park but I do try to keep a handle on it and don't abuse that privilege.

Glad your vacation was great Val!

I am doing good...despite opening my electric bill....450 bucks- yowzer....hahahaha....oh, well, it is only money:) That is what a little Texas heat will do to ya in a two-story house...toss in a pool that I keep the filter running 7hours a day to avoid muck in there and voila- 450 dollars...so to get right with that I have to break it down to a daily bill and realize while it is a crazy amount of money...it is was worth it. Grateful to have a house and a pool, nobody is hungry and I am picking up my new puppy on Friday. Yep, I adopted a pup from the pound last Sunday-figured, why not-he was so darn cute and it's been long enough since we lost our two danes...he is half boxer half ibizan (pharoh hound)...5 months old...I must be a glutton for punishment but at least this "repsonsibility" I can hug:) They took in over 200 dogs in one day last week so they had a big deal to get people to come in and adopt...i saw his picture and was hooked....his name is Tucker

Annettek he sounds adorable.  Post a pic when you get him home.I know about the electric bill got my in and it was $400 and I don't have a pool, but I live in a house that was built in 1884 and the insulation is not all that great. Then my water bill for my yard was another $150.  That is why we are putting in more garden and taking out grass.

My water/electric bill was $375 this time around.  A co-worker said she was billed for 47,000 gallons of water!  And she was on vacation for half the month!  Crazy....It is still hot here in Lubbock, but doesn't seem as hot as before.

sweetcorn - I think your coworker needs to have a talk with the utility company.  I would also start reading my own meter.  There are times when the water companies estimate the bills instead of getting actual readings.  We have come across this many times and have not had to pay the huge bills.

    Hi Sisters

Annette...My daughter wants me to get a dog because she things I'm lonely.

I explained to her nicely that I love living alone and we all lived here in 1 bedroom apartment until 4 years ago.

I love dogs but I don't want anything that requires my attention.

Maybe because I raised my daughters as a single parent and worked all day.

Now I want to be lazy if I want or put the music loud if I want.

I love my daughters and they love me. I'm also content with my life.

Am I making any sense to you?

Seyla888. It makes perfect sense to me as well. When I am dozing on the couch at night, if it's raining, or if I need to be away from home for more than a few hours( which is often) there is no way I want to worry about a dog... because I would.

Thanks wenweb. My daughter has a dog and they foster dogs also.

When I go visit her next month will be very happy to see my grandson  (LOL I call him that)

While they take care of all his needs I can enjoy him.

sheila- you make all the sense in the world to me...as you always do. This little pup is something tho...i brought him home today and he ran around the back of the garage all the way to the small side area and did his business...which is what I wanted to train him to do...he is a little sweetie and I am thinking him and I can be good for each other...it is like he knows he somehow got a pass from being put down and is going to do everything he can to fit in:)

and i am so used to not being able to make any plans without extensive planning this is just one more in the mix!

    I'm really happy for you.
