Mimi-Congrats on the upcoming interview. My past career was in operations of an assited living/retirement company. I have interviewed an hired alot of staff for assisted living. I would go with the most conservative outfit whether it is the skirt or pants. Business and caring, not flashy.
Joan so glad your GD got to go home.

Renee-I vote for cut-offs & halter top! Let them know you plan to help keep the old guys hearts pumping!
HAHAHAHAHA-just kidding! I vote for the skirt outfit!

I never changed my mind about the skirt.....It makes you look so ladylike.Good luck again Mimi......keep us posted.0

Joni LOL on the cut offs and halter top!!!
Sherry I have spent the last 5 yrs in ALF and we were really casual... khakis, capris, boho tops, sandals and or flip flops in the summer and clogs, boots, tennis shoes, jeans on Fridays. But not knowing this company I definitely wanted to be at least business casual. The 3 outfits I have are both tailored and church worthy. I am not a frills and lace kind of girl although one of the blouses does have some lace work that lays flat but would be covered by the jacket if I chose to wear it. Hmm decisions, decisions. I will say I hate panty hose and pumps they hurt my feet... I love sandals. I sure hope this company doesn't have a rule about wearing closed toed shoes to work.
Thanks everyone for the great advice! I am finally going to get my hair done next Weds at 10 yea!! So excited since it's been 5 months or more. I'm going to be dressed to impress

mimi1964: You go girl! Remember to smile...a genuine radiant smile is worth more than anything else when it comes to first impressions. It also exudes confidence.

Every job i had i needed to be dressed to impress.
never heard of wearing kakis or any of the other atire you ladies talk about.
guess workin in NYC made me All dressed up.
My daughter used to tell me people go to weddings with what you wear to work. Now i only wanna wear jeans and sweatsuits.
do not wear a skirt Mimi...changed my mind.

In my position of leadership when I was working, I tried to set an example of good conservative dress. I usually wore business suits and pantsuits, high heels (with pantyhose), small jewelery, and for our meetings off site, it was usually called "country club casual", which meant pants, shirt and blazer with low heeled shoes. I still have my Ralph Lauren classic blazer that can be thrown on over jeans, pants, skirts, etc. It must be at least 15 years old and still looks like new.
I had a few really nice outfits (like a St.John knit) for special occasions, but for the most part, I didn't spend what some do on my clothes, yet I still looked nice. I'm really sad that sold my St. John Knit at a consignment shop several years ago because I thought I would never fit into it again:( It was a classic, and never goes out of style...oh well...can't afford to replace it. Buying one of those outfits now is like making a mortgage payment! I'd rather have a nice vacation.

I loved clothes.I love shoes.I love underwear..love it all...
now that i retired i hate the jeans and sweatpants.
I still love to get dressed up.

granny.....I'm so glad you like underwear hahahahahahahahahaha0
-
LOL Sheila I'm glad that granny loves underwear too!! that made me LMAO!!! but l really did get what she meant... like victoria secret or over priced name brand underwear. Now me I'm a jeans, dress top and heels kinda girl or a nice pair of boots. But we only could wear that on casual Fridays. Granny the reason we were able to wear the other type of clothing is because I am a nurse and it wasn't always easy to go running down the hall in a skirt and heels though I have don't it. LOL!!

I should have said i LOVED BRAS....I freekin hate hate hate them now...
imagine going from Victoria Secret to a compression bra...A harness!!!!
Loved is the key word!!!!!!past tense.

glad i can give you a laugh.I still sometimes wear my lill tap pants underwear..another laugh.ha ha ha but i still do.
nice to have a lite conversation....keep laughing.hugggs K

Thanks for the laughs....strange how BC has affected so much of our lives....
I love to dress up.....and am usually one of a few who wear skirts, jackets, jewelry, real shoes....but usually i go back and forth from dressy with scarves to pants and quilted vest...still with nice shirt and jewelry....i love coats too....gotta get these ten pounds off so i can wear everything again.
anyway, my job is not net and clean - the classrooms where i work are messy labs and very dusty...am always cleaning up. but i still love my nice clothes.
I just feel completely different when I am sure I look my best.
Falling asleep....hoping everyone is well ... keep those smiles coming!0 -
I love dressing up, too. I loved dressing up underneath as well but my choices are limited since BC.

Spent last weekend with my GS who are 4 and 8. The 8 year old made me a get well card about love (receiving and giving). I realized after I got home that the picture he drew has two breasts, one normal size and the other small. I got a real laugh out of that. Can't wait to see if the next card has only one (UMX Wed).

Joan so glad about the babycakes begin better.....
as for clothes...i am a clothes freak who mixes and matches all kinds of stuff...old with new, expensive with thrift shop...i dress ecelectic i guess.after wearing the suits in the 80's i tossed em and never looked back:) I can't wait for NYC....always treat myself to one find of some kind-put a limit of no more than 100-200..last year i scored a 1000 whackadoodle coat for 90% off in soho - I was so damn happy I had to go buy some weird green leather boots:) hahaha....so this year I am doubly excited because the best thing I am gonna find in NYC is sheila and granny and anyone else who shows up;) I am so excited....it is getting closer...
i have missed you all....life has been a bit of a bite in the &ss but oddly rewarding on other levels...filed for the big D on Monday (actually made him do it) and now I am trying to actually step back and exhale...I feel better than I imagined and oddly we were talking and bonding so much that I told him yesterday I needed to give him up for lent....I have to step back and quit connecting right now with him....it is this back and forth and tears and recriminations, regrets etc that are so hard on me and keep me from just finding out how I really feel...through the past ten months no matter what I have said the truth is I have not let him go....so i am trying that now....i told him this last night on the phone...he has been seeing the kids more and I am learning to embrace having some time now and then...which again is hard fo rme to learn to do...big step tomorrow night..a huge wedding of a very dear girl who was my first intern (totally shocking as I did not want her to work for me as wrongly imagined a child of such vast privilege and beauty would be a lamer and I was so very wrong- she was incredible and worked for me all through high school on until her last year of college....see how life is?) I was so touched when I go the invitation
I am going solo....miss fearless (in every way except when it comes to ME) will be putting on her new gold slip dress and heels- slap on an smile and see if i can just have a good time. WIll be odd since my boss will be there and he knows nothing of what is going on with me and will be shocked the hubster is not there. Hell, he will be shocked I am there since I don't think he realizes I was invited:)
roflmao:)
life is better than any of us know. i am gonna try to learn more to understand that. sure all of this has been a big bite but it could be so much worse...hell, i have my health, my sons, my mom and even a dumbass soon to be ex who goes on and on about loving me...but i am realizing the best thing that might have happened to me might have been his leaving...i tel lhim when he talks about the divorce freeing us from *all the bad stuff* of the past and possibly *connecting* again all fresh well....ahhh, that might not happen...can't go into this thinking it will..because I am not the same 16 year old who fell in love all those years ago...or maybe I am, just a "growed up woman" now who realizes the best might yet to be...on my own.I feel weird even writing that down but i just didn't realize how much work it took to love him...freaking exhausting...but i have no hate, and will admit to love, just keeping my eyes open and doing the next right thing...for me..
Sheesh...sorry for letting all of that out but it felt good and damn, I ain't crying! which is way cool:)
I hope all of you are doing good and know how much I love you:)

Annettee - Don't apologize for allowing yourself to just let it all out. You seem to forget at times that there is a whole band of incredible women who are more than willing to listen to every word you have to say and then offer up all kinds of love and support. We are all in this together no matter what. Hang in there and just take baby steps - that way it is not so scary and overwhelming. (((HUGS)))
Have missed seeing you here. Picture this - your convertible car, you and me in the front with our oversized shades and leopard scarves blowing in the breeze - Watch out Thelma & Louise!! LOL!

Can't wait to meet you Annette..............hugs♥

Hi ladies- I am new here. I had a preventive mx on 2/21 that turned out not to be preventive. They found a 1.1 cm IDC grade 2. That is the only info I have right now. I'm going crazy because I did not anticipate this. No nodes were taken since it was PBM, but that will prob change now. Can anyone take a guess at what my treatment would be? Thank you!
