CALLING ALL STAGE I SISTERS

farmerlucydaisy - I remember feeling shocked when I was diagnosed just as you are now. I had no family history, felt no lumps, had no symptoms. I fought my insurance company for 6 months to get an MRI because I was tired of reading my mammogram reports, which always said, "No masses seen, but lesions could be obscured by extremely dense breast tissue." Tired of hearing "Everything looks OK, see you next year". My MRI showed 5 suspicious areas that were ultimately biopsied: 3 fibroadenomas, 1 ILC, 1 DCIS all in the same breast. Because of the ILC I chose bilateral surgery. It was a shocker and it's been rocky now and then, but I thank my lucky stars every day that I listened to that little voice inside. It hasn't steered me wrong yet!
Best of luck to you. Keep us posted!!!

hi Ladies,
I have never posted here before and I hope you all don't mind. I am Stage 1, PRE- Menopausal, and a tami failure (also tried- Fareston). I take Metformin. I had an MO and she quit the practice and moved 3000 miles away. I am seeing a MO tomorrow afternoon who my previous MO sent me to at a big university hospital ( I think my previous MO knew she was leaving when she did this). The big MO previously recommended ovary removal which I have not done.I also have not done Lupron shots either.
Is there any pre- menopausal lady taking anything else besides tami? or fareston?
thank you for your assistance. I do appreciate it.

Grannydukes,
Yeah- I love chocolate alot but it amazing how I have reduced my consumption over the past 1.5 years.
Sheila thanks for the welcome- i tried two different support groups. One was during the day and os really hard for people like me who work and the other the average age was 72 and I felt to young. So here I am.
thanks

I think we are all sorry to be here and wish it wasn't necessary to have a site such as this but thank God it's here and hope you each know how grateful all of us newbies are for the support. I went skiing with DH today and it was the first day since I have gotten my dx that I went hours without it once sticking it's nose in my face. I just enjoyed the sun, snow and wind in my face as I flew down that mountain and kept thinking why haven't I taken the time to do this in the past 1 1/2 years, thats why we moved up here in 2004. I'm from Amarillo TX but my soul has always belonged in the mountains since I can remember and this is my dream come true. We were suppose to be retiring up here but with the economy and now with the future medical expense I don't see that happening for a while if ever but it shouldn't stop us from enjoying our lifes. It seems like once again I got caught up in just existing to live instead of living to love. This has been a wake up call that though the bills need to be paid life needs to be enjoyed NOW cause no one knows how many tomorrows they have. I'm not letting this whip me and as I heard one of you say, I want to throw everything there is at it including the kitchen sink! Anyway I have two full days with no doctor appointments except to get my Siberian Husky to the vet. Hate that I have to take her but sure glad this appointment isn't for me!
Hope I can hit the slopes at least one more time before surgery but if not I'll have to work extra hard to be there next season on opening day (if the snow is any good).

Welcome Chocolate to the club no one wants to be a member of and so glad you found us. I can't help you with your question - I do take Tami but I am postmenopausal (4 years now). I'm sure some one will come along and answer your question.

OMG! Chocolate! Now this may be the worse news I've received so far. I'll eat anything that has chocolate involved with it. Please don't tell me diet coke is on the list to. - Carol

seabeal, so happy that you got your day on the slopes. it is so important to do something you love if your health allows. right before my surgery i salvaged a few days of a canceled vacation and stayed on top of a mountain near yosemite...total peace and beauty...only for 24 hours....i am going back there in May to reclaim and celebrate life.
Have a good night, all...
Hugs - Joan0 -
Grannydukes: I know, nasty habit, but I compensate so I can eat chocolate since I'm diabetic. I already see I'm going to have to make even more nutritional changes.
Joan: I went to Yosemite when I was 12 yo and to this day I think it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. I remember looking at the waterfalls and thinking when I grew up this is where I want to spend my honeymoon - never made it back, guess I need to put it on my bucket list - to celebrate life!

Welcome Chocolate! Sorry you have to be here, but you'll get a lot of support and comfort.
We missed our timeshare ski trip this year...it would have been last week. We thought it might be just a little too much coming after surgery and it was probably a good decision since I've been recovering from a cough and cold. We now have two weeks to use somewhere else.
Have a great day everyone.

Welcome to all the newbies... so many new ones coming each week it makes me sad. I'm glad you found this wonderful group of ladies they are just awesome.
For those of you wondering I got a PM from Val and she is going to be gone for a week to her DD's to visit with her grandchildren. It's her granddaughters 5th b'day coming up this week. She is doing fine. Just keep her in your prayers as like many of us she has her own struggles within.

Hi to all the "new sisters"...........................welcome to Monday afternoon...............ok, so I missed the morning...............noooooooooo, I was not sleeping............I was arranging my lock n lock cabinet.................washing clothes...............doing all the things, I normally say "screw that" to,...........and somehow the "morning", just flew by........................
Hold on..........gonna throw in another load...............I know your all jealous cause I'm getting my "shit" done..................this does not happen often. Ok, I"m back.....................like I use to say to the "girlfriends" when I was younger..........................they would say "oh my God you can eat off of Chris's (a neighbor) floors..............................my answer would be "JESUS, MOST TIMES YOU CAN'T EAT OFF MY TABLE"........................but I had the happiest, and loved kids on the block.........................I knew the cleaning would always be there, but my "little sweethearts" wouldn't, and I'm glad I took that route..........................
So again "newbies".............................your gonna love it here........................you already got the "royal" welcome..................now speaking of "chocolate"..........................I have a "cooler" filled with "chocolate vodka"..........................some of the "old heads" know all about my "drinking problem..............................hahahahahahahahahhaahaha............................have a great day ladies............................and come back often.......................we love to party.........................RED SOLO CUP, I FILL YOU UP, LET'S HAVE A PARTY, LET'S HAVE A PARTY......................YOWZA, YOWZA..............................

I hope to hell I can stay in this forum. I am 6 days out from PBMX (ha) with TE, and figured out a way to walk my doggies today. I have 3 beagles and 1 beagle imposter. I wrapped a leash around my waist and then connected it with a caribiner to one or two other leashes. That way they can pull, but it doesn't do anything to my upper body, Quite a sight.
How the hell did I go from being perfectly healthy one week ago to being a crumpled mess. I know, I know, it will get better. Thanks for listening.
