Sheila ~ How great you are! This is so helpful, thank you!

Step 2: I don't use any of those meds.

Step 3: I will add more foods containing zinc. You know, I used to eat a lot of yogurt and I did stop last spring because I'd read & heard from several bc sisters that dairy is not good for bc. I wonder if that could be it. Last January, when I started rads, my wbc count was 7.0, didn't get a copy of lab report during rads, nurse just told me a couple of the results. March level was 3.4, May was 4.4 (May-June was around the time I stopped eating yogurt), Sept. was 4.1, & the last one was 3.6. Hummm, you have me thinking. Would certainly have been low during rads & for a while after, (even a year?), but to still be low now. I wonder, is it my new normal?

I will add more zinc foods to my diet & will see if there is a difference on next lab draw for April 5 appt. I will see what the Dr. says & I'll let you know.

Step 4: I had been pretty routine in using my NordicTrac Pro Skier, but haven't since late Oct. due to early holiday preparations. And, stress, I have been more "involved" in politics lately, getting worked up at times about Congress & the whole healthcare overhaul. I think I'll have to dial that back a bit, which I'm sure my DH will appreciate! LOL

Meece ~ What a menu! I'll pass on the oysters, everything else sounds superb. What time should I arrive!!!  LOL

You guys are wonderful, love ya!

Have you ever heard of Tur-Duc-en?  That's how I will fix the pot roast turkey.  Dinner is at 6:30.  Don't be late, it may be all gone by then.

Laura (Cake)  Thanks for sharing your story!

I went for the BRCA testing today.. so should know the results of that in a week or so.  I am not expecting that to be positive, but figured I should check it out.  I meet with my bs tomorrow and hopefully I will have make a decision by then, if not may just hold them off until I get my results.

All the other posts are making me hungry so I had better go and get dinner going!

I think the tru-duk-en / pot roast-ey will have to wait DH couldn't locate a pot roast when he went hunting this morning.  We're having Lasagna tonight.  I raise domesticated Lasags.  Wink

Lol Meece, my husband's unable to locate a pot roast tonight too!  Too funny!

Welcome Sullykm - sorry to see another member join the club, but hope you will find lots of help and info here. Our stories are very similar, although I have a few years on you :) Love to hear your positive attitude - and I CERTAINLY agree, the TE's are uncomfortable, but doable. Hang in there!!

Cakeisgreat - hope my little bit of experience helps somewhat. Please let me know if I can help in any way.  I know I felt a lot better just having made my decision, knowing I was finally moving forward with my plan. The first thing I said to my husband when we "unveiled" me after surgery was, "I'm so glad they're gone!"  They were the enemies, and had to be jettisoned :)

Take care everyone - stay well - E

It saddens me to see young ones being diagnosed.  When will it end.

But early detection is the best protection.

    Welcome newbys.

    Hi, guys!

My new thing now that Christmas is over...I am planning a Disney vacation, woo hoo!  As long the money holds up that is :).  I've gone once in my whole life and it was so awesome!  I want to take my 4 kiddies one more time before they grow up and move out, etc.  Then they can take ME ha ha!  Hopefully it'll all work out.

Grakenmom--yes, thank you so much for your experiences!  I will definitely be popping the pills, LOL!  Give me everything legal!

Valjean--that is so cool that your DD is named Laura also!  I like my name...good thing.  I was named after Laura Ingalls Wilder.

    Good night guys!

I like it, but mainly because we can go there in the morning and be back in our own beds the same night if we'd like.  I have been to Orlando, but not in many years.  I am sure there is a lot more to see now.

Disney's California Adventure is a fun park, and Disneyland is always a favorite.

My boys loved Disney (orlando) but mainly wanted to stay in the water parks. They loved the slides, wave pools etc.  It was a blast!

    Cakeisgreat,

I live in Orlando and if you have time when here Universal and Sea World are also great fun. Depending on the ages of the children the space center is another good place to visit........oh yeah, Bush Gardens too. And the list goes on....... Have fun!

    Hello everyone,

I haven't been on for a couple of days.  Welcome to all the new people.  It's sad we have to meet this way, but encouraging to be able to talk to some that are going through the same thing.

Well, I had an appt. Tues with PS.  I thought I was going to have my first fill, but he said there was still a little swelling and wanted to wait.  I currently have 600 ccs in each side that was done at the time of surgery, so I am pretty comfortable with how things are already.  I had to laugh at myself... I was so worried about the fill and everything for a few days before the appt., and really had nothing to worry about at all.  I think when I actually do get the fill, it won't be so bad now.  I also had another appt. on Tues. with my BS to look at a couple of small bb sized lumps that just devoloped last week.  We both seem to think they are scar tissue from previous biopsies, so I will just have to keep a close eye on them for any changes.  I was relieved!

Last night we got about 2" of snow.  It's still snowing right now and we are expected to get about another 4-6 inches.  It looks so beautiful!!!  Today is a snow day for us, so we are staying in where it is dry and warm.

CakeisGreat - we went to WDW in Orlando back in Feb. 2003.  The weather was great, mostly 75, and the park was not crowded at all.  We were able to get a great deal off of e-bay for our condo house - $58/night.  The condo was 3 bedr, 2 ba, fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, built in pool, and garage.  It was only 15 mins away from the park also.  I just thought I would mention this if you were looking for places to stay. I hope you have lots of fun!!!

Sullykm - I like your positive attitude.  Keep the faith!

I am thankful for everyday and for the many blessings that this awful disease has brought.  Have a wonderful day everyone.

My WBC level may be my normal, I was told by my NP today. She is not overly concerned about it. The water part was for my potassium level, not the WBC. Because potassium is an electrolyte, she wanted to know if I was losing water/fluid from diarrhea or vomiting & to make sure I was drinking enough fluids during the day. And, this level will likely correct easily by increasing potassium in my diet via fruits & veggies.

But, I plan on adding zinc foods to my diet to hopefully raise the WBC level. She said nothing of foods containing zinc, & I don't plan on e-mailing her again to ask about that.

Sheila ~ So thanks for the suggestions on zinc foods, I will do that. You guys are great  nutritionists. Geez, I hope you don't charge much, at least that your co-pays are small!! LOL Budget is a little tight after Christmas.

Meece ~ Do "domesticated Lasags" cost much to raise?!? What the heck do you feed them?? Ricotta?? LOL

Laughter is good for the soul & our bodies. Thanks for the laughs!!

    {{hugs}}

Hi Ladies I haven't checked in for a few days.  I just completed #19 out of 38 rads txt so I am 1/2 done.  I have 9 more regular txts to go and then 10 boosts.  Woo Hoo!! But I have now gotten a really bad burn under the deepest part of my armpit.  The rad onc says I have a dry peel and told me to leave it more open to air.  He also gave me some cream called REGENECARE that has lidocaine and collagen in it for 1st and 2nd degree burns.  Anyone here ever use it before?

Valjean - Glad to hear your WBC is normal.  I have been following the posts on here and was concerned.  But you definitely don't want those electrolytes to get out of balance that can make for one sick "puppy".  LOL!

Debbie - Wished it had snowed more here in Cullman, Alabama than what we got.  It wasn't enough for me.  I love snow.  I live in the wrong place I think or the hospital gave my mom the wrong kid.  haha

    Take Care

Sue, they are not my pets.  I couldn't imagine eating a pet!  They are strictly raised as a food source.

Valerie, they are easy to care for, just give them plenty of water and when you put them to bed, have them all face the same direction.

I am thinking of planting spagetti trees in my garden this year.  I could get a bumper crop like the Swiss Spaghetti harvest of 1957.

Meece, can you send me some of those seeds from the spaghetti tree?  I so prefer homemade pasta over boxed!  I'd love to have it growing on trees!
