Renee ~ So glad to hear your Dad is home. I saw my Rads onc a few weeks after TX ended, then in 6 months, then again in 6 months, & now I have a 1 yr. appt. which puts me to this coming Nov. (which puts me 2 yrs out) Then I am finished with him. <sigh> I really like him, much more than I like my onc.

Congradulations on completing your rads. Had my first treatment today (35 to go) and feel like I have a long road in front of me. I just feel happy to hear when anyone is done and doing well.

Oma261 - I know it seems like a lot ahead of you but the rads do go really fast. It's like you're in autopilot every day going for the zap...but before you know it, you'll be done.

Val you give me hope!! I really hope he doesn't want me to come see him for the next 5 yrs. I have to see my breast surgeon for the next 10 yrs. and my Med Onc for the next 5 yrs. to me that seems like seeing enough doctors to follow me for my BC. But what do I know? I'm just a nurse right?? LOL!! Then you throw in the primary doctor at least once a year and the GYN for a yearly check up and I'm seeing doctors all the time. Don't really know why I need one more, but I'll see him if I have to. Oh yeah and add the plastic surgeon to that list because we are waiting for me to completely heal so he can do my recon surg. Many docs. LOL!!!

Renee...Last night when I saw Casey and Tim standing together my heart almost dropped.
Things happened in past AI. All I was thinking if he went home and Tim stayed.With the exception of Katie (I liked her) i think the show is going to the right direction. I don't like big Mike anymore because he is becoming little annoying. I like Aaron but he is going the next 2 episodes. I want Crystal to be the next Idol, or Casey. i have a feeling shabon (sp) and Crystal will be the top 2.
Okay I feel better now.
I see my BS once a year. I actually like going to him he is one the generous surgeons.
He took care of this woman who didn't have insurance and no other DR wanted to do anything.
Oncologist every 4 months. Probably next visit he will tell me to come once a year.

Oma261 ~ As Sugar77 has said, Rads really will go quickly. I had 28 reg. tx's & 5 boosts. When I marked my calendar in Dec. 09, in the beginning, I thought January would just crawl by, & I would never reach Feb. But, each time goes fast, you are in & out. My DH drove me, he didn't really have to, just did it because of the winter weather & he was there waiting with a smile when I walked out after each tx. Sometimes we did some shopping after my afternoon appt, or just came home to fix dinner. Remember, if you have any questions about your 'tanning sessions', LOL, don't hesitate to ask.

I went to my rads appointments on my lunch hour. It took more time to drive both ways, than it did in the actual appointment.

Thanks for the encouragement. After I had my surgery, I put my head in the sand and told myself it was all over. Starting Rad put me back into reality. Reading what others are going through is a very humbling experience. You are all in my prayers.

Hi Ladies,
Just saw my 14 year old in his first high school play. One of my fears when this all started was that I would miss it. So glad I got to go. Going again tomorrow and Sunday. He was only in the chorus, alittle singing and dancing, but I was very proud of him and the cast.
No results today. Called my doctor and the nurse said they didn't get the results yet. I'm alittle concerned because the last time this happened was when I was diagnosed with this damn disease. Now I have to wait until Monday to get the results. I am just concerned that they didn't get all of it again. If that is the case I am doing a double mx. I really don't want to go through another surgery. Sorry for the complaing, just alittle overtired.
Did anyone have a lot more night sweats and day sweats after they were diagnosed with bc. The past 3 weeks have been horrible for me. Several times everynight I wake up sweating like a pig, and during the day I will get terrible hot flashes. Any ideas from anyone? Ok I'm done complaining for the time being. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Redbard -- I think there is a protocal for giving us our news... don't tell anyone anything on Friday. My GS called me once on the weekend (which really scared me!) but he had good news (ER+PR+ which I guess is good) but then when I went to my appointment on Monday he told me about the 2nd tumor they found and that I didn't have clear margins, etc. I am getting a lot of hot flashes at night but I've been on Tamoxifen since bmx in August. I wake up with really funky hairstyles! of course, I'm also getting older... and children really do cause wrinkles.

Astorm: I heard tamoxifen causes hot flashes, but if I'm getting them now how bad will they be when I start tamoxifen? I'm trying not to freak out but you know how that is, right.

Redbarb ~ Oh my, I got a chill when I read how you felt when you watched your son perform in the school play. How proud you must be. I bet it was wonderful.
Also, I absolutely know how hard it is to wait for results over a weekend. I swear, one can hear every clock in the house just ticking away, time moves soooo slooooow. And do not consider yourself complaining, it is natural (we are natural, yay!) to feel anxious & a bit scared. I know it is not easy to do, but try to stay busy & positive through the weekend. You have us here if you wish to vent or you need a {{hug}}. I have my share of hot flashes & ice cold chills as well. When I was having Rads, I started having more hot flashes, I was told that is an SE of Rads. Of course, I had to stop my HRT cold turkey when I was dx'd, so that did not help. I am on the AI, Aromasin, so still have my fair share of flashes & chills. Sweater on, sweater off, slippers on, slippers off, wax on, wax off. Oh, not the last part, just remembering the Karate Kid movie for a laugh. LOL

Redbarb. I am premenopausal, so I was surprised to have ngt sweats and hot flashes after my last surgery in November. I was having a couple a night and one or two during the day for several weeks...until I went to my GP and asked what I could do. She suggested Black Cohash or Evening Primrose. The next day I went and purchased the Primrose, but haven't had a flash since. The bottle is still sealed! Maybe that's all it took is threatening to take something.
Actually it is possible that stress brought this on. Or, I could be peri-menopausal. In any case, I checked with my Onc about taking either of these supplements since I am TN and HT is out of the question. At least I am not willing to take the chance. She said that either should be safe.
Don't know if this helps at all.

Redbarb and Meece, Wow, I thought I was the only one. I'm premenopausal too, and right after my second surgery, the night sweats started. Really bizarre. They did give me an antidepressant right after my diagnosis, and I just read the side effects and one of them? Night sweats. Hmmm...
Although before I read this I was thinking of other things--healing from the surgery, perimenopause, stress, etc etc...

Another great night watching high schoolers entertain me with Bye Bye Birdie. How wonderful it is to see how talented teenagers are today!!
Jenny B: I am not taking any medication right now and the night sweats are worse now than ever. I'm beginning to wonder if it is stress or perimenopause. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one going through this. I was beginning to worry that something more was wrong. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Redbarb - Meece - JennyB - Wow, I thought I was the only one whose internal thermostat has gone nuts! I am sweating then cold and back and forth. Had some mild hot flashed before BC but since surgery - wow. Maybe it is the stress?

Welcome, Lisa888. Sorry you had to join our club.Our dxs do look alike. My tumor was 1.5 cm but that isn't that big of difference. I was not given many choices at all. I had the lumpectomy and a month later I started chemo. 4 x AC and 4 x Taxol at three week intervals. Then I had 33 rounds of radiation including five boosts. No HT because of the TN status. I am followed by my onc every six months, Mammo annually and lately MRI every 6-12 months. From what I've seen, most TNs get both cheom and rads.
What tx have you had so far?

Lisa888 - your diagnosis also looks similar to mine. I had a lumpectomy then a sentinel node biopsy (which was clear). I had Taxotore/Cytoxan x4 and just completed 21 rads (16 whole breast/5 boosts). In Canada, the protocol for rads is a bit different because we get fewer but higher dose treatments. In the end I think it's pretty much the same.

Meece - does that mean you have only one scar from the lumpectomy. Or, do you have two scars...one at the site where the lump was removed and another under the arm where the sentinel node was removed? I have two scars because they were done in two separate surgeries. The one under my arm gets irriated more frequently. I hope that goes away with time.
