I thought this was funny (odd/strange/thoughtless??). One of my closest friends came to visit me in hospital the day after my BMX. Her "gift" to me was a biography of a topless dancer!! Book (and cover) was full of photos of a topless dancer....very strange....my nurse came in after she was gone, took one look at the book, said "how bloody ridiculous" and threw it in the bin!!! Still laugh about it...

i know when i was bald, i would torture myself.... i would watch tv and see these beautiful women, with their beautiful hair and beautiful bodies ( im not vain, but i considered myself pretty good looking before BC) and i would just cry and cry and cry! i would look at old pic of myself and do the same
then i told my BF about it.. she said something pretty awesome.
she said "ya know, even tough those girls are pretty on the outside, everyone has issues and problems. how do you know those women aren't drug addicts, in violent relationships, have family issues, food issues, etc etc." it made me appreciate what i had,,, even if it was cancer, cause i still had my husband, my friends who were super supportive and such
and yeah i have a scarred up tit now, i gained 15 pounds from the meds, still sporing a square tan on the left side, feel like an old lady some days (im 30) but, i am still here, still married, still BFwith that girl, still have my job and still have my home.. and i'm back on track to getting to look pretty hot again.... lol!!!!!!

Good for you Angelbaby! And you have your youth too! You have your whole life ahead of you to enjoy. You have a great attitude. I am going to try to take some of that to heart today too. Thanks for reminding me of all that I should be grateful for.

This was one of those WHAT THE CLUCK moments. In the mail today, I get a envelope that has on the bottom right hand corner. "Free Prepaid Cremation!--Details inside". Duh do they know something I don't. Been waiting for yearly tests to be completed. Turns out it was a national sales thing. They did have a disclaimer inside that said--"Please accept our apologies if this has reached you at a time of serious illness or death in your family."

You noticed that at the end of the article they said they were going to lay low. It was fascinating that the Mongolians to empirically figure this out and have been doing it for 2 thousand years. That's HUGE.
Another thought the government has NOT dealt with the public impact of what this article identifies. Guess it's not politically correct.

Meant to add, in Canada, we don't add hormones to our milk, but do to our chicken. I think it's the chicken that is causing all the kaffuffle.

Oops, double post. But, I'll stop in to say, I am lactose intolerant (most humans are, but don't realize it - we can't break down our modern milk properly). Anyway, being lactose intolerant, I haven't consumed a glass of milk for over 30 years. Mild use of cheese (fattening!) and low dairy consumption, so I don't factor in milk as my cause.
I guess the 'ads' on bco for dairy products should disappear round about now, eh?

SAS - I completely believe this - I have always bought my milk at the local chain b/c they do not use hormones or antibiotics on their cows -- and both my kids developed AFTER their classmates - both did develop, just not at 10 or 11, like so many of their friends. I am not nearly as good about cheese and processed foods, but the milk I got right!

I didn't raise my kids on milk, they had water as they grew. My daughter developed at 13 1/2, same as I did 40 years ago!

ok...went to the dentist today to get a filling put in...the receptionist/dental right hand woman told me as I was leaving tha the dental hygeinist had been upset last time I left because when she asked me if anything was new, I said 'no',,,,and then she heard me talking to Kim about breast cancer and my heart attack as I thought I might need to update my medical file....Kim said the gal didn't understand how i could have said 'no' and acted as if I had done her a disservice. Seriously? Since when do you have to disclose to someone who is using dental floss in your mouth and using flouride? I cheked with my GP re. my heart meds and dental work and no....I do not have to stop anything...and what the hell does breast cancer have to do with my oral hygiene??!!!!?? Seriously! I would tell her if I had a cold and she was working on my mouth because that would have something to do with her....ARGH

bARB ET ALL-------maybe I should have just posted the hyperlink about milk. It's not that they are adding hormones, they're milking pregnant cows in late pregnancy when their estrogen levels are very high. You need to read the hyperlink please. Once you read the hyperlink you will get it.

Hmm, I have consumed large amounts of dairy all my life. I love milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. But the article seems to say milk from pregnant animals can cause hormoner-receptor positive BC, among other things, and my BC is triple-negative.

Riley--------I didn't take that it can cause ER+ BC . I took it to mean we are getting an estrogen load. Only further research could make that link. But we do know the problems with early puberty and puberty in newborns. Would people in the USA have made another drink choice knowing the might be getting an estrogen load. I would have. Here I always thought I was helping myself by choosing milk over soda. I also chose not to take HRT because of a stronge family hx of ER+ BC in the family. Who new I was getting it through the milk.

Butter, meat, eggs, milk, and cheese are implicated in higher rates of hormone-dependent cancers in general, she said. Breast cancer has been linked particularly to consumption of milk and cheese.
Is hormone-receptor negative BC still considered a hormone-dependent cancer? I didn't think it was.

Riley thanks for reading the article. It would take more research to find if Ganmaa's suspected connections proved true. But I still think they should have warned the public of our milking practices and the estrogen, it's almost 6 years. For something like this it's significant. Especially for children.

Kay-------some Agency should--------it's outrageous. The implications for the whole population are mind boggling. Precocious puberty for girls, hormonal problems for boys, hormonal effect on adults. Newborns being born with signs of puberty i.e pubic hair and breasts. This is a PUBLIC HEALTH issue and the government has buried it.

Yay for hot ladies! I gotta say, that book takes the cake. Although I wonder, is the friend an artsy type? Maybe it was more for the esthetic part of it, like, since you don't have your own any more, here's some for you to dream about? Or, if having reconstruction, choices for you to share with your PS? You know, like when you are getting a new hairdo, you bring in a magazine of styles you like?
I'm just looking for an explanation-- I like to think people like that have a mental challenge. It makes it easier to deal with if I think they are mentally ill.
