JO, lifting you up in prayer. Sorry I have been so out of pocket. Had the lung problems again and still not walking very well, I did actually clean one room but it took all day long. Had to lay down every 30 minutes, but it got done.
I think of you guys everyday and pray for you all everyday. i do love my bc sisters. God bless and welcome to all the new ladies. We want all the Christian ladies we can find for prayer and support, friends, and fellowship. I learn a lot from you all. My husband and I are tithers also and we somehow always make it, God does provide.

For those of you with teens, may I recommend the prayer movement that is very active on college campuses right now. There are many "Houses of Prayer"--non-denominational Christian programs which are trying to establish 24/7 praise and worship music with live musicians and intercessory prayer. So far the biggest ones are in Kansas City and I know that there is another one in Atlanta with 24/7 live music. Their teachings seem to resonate with this generation, emphasizing the heart of God and the role of the church as the bride of Christ. They actively teach Revelations and are charismatic, cultivating the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
If any of you want to check it out, it is all free on the internet. The prayer room in KC is live by link from the International House of Prayer at www.IHOP.org. Messages and free notes are at that site, as well as at mikebickle.org (one of the leadership team there.)
Sorry to sound like a marketer for this group, but it has really deepened my connection with the Holy Spirit over the past year or so, and I do recommend it. The average age in the prayer rooms is 21! (And in a generation in which active church membership is less than 3% . . . .)
Hope M.

Found this in my email this a.m., thought it was good and I'd share;
The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.
As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.
He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.
After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.
He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally....I assumed you had stolen the car.''

Prayers for Jo and Sherry and a million hugs. I am so sorry you are having some setbacks.
Barbe ... when it rains it pours - congratulations on being a grandma - twice!
After reading the posts, here's what I believe ... we were spirits in heaven. We came here to obtain a physical body and to learn certain lessons that will help us grow. When they said "God moves in mysterious ways" they were not kidding. I think we come to a time that rather then keeping our eye on the prize we get caught up in the petty issues faced here (I certainly have, many, many times) and stray. By reading the scriptures and keeping company with fellow Christians is the best way to stay on the path. There are too many temptations out in the world that would cause us to lose our way. By raising your children and grandchildren in God will have truly far-reaching effects during their lives. You might not think so now but it will.
In reading scriptures the people consistently cry out to the Lord for salvation when they are downtrodden and suffering. Once the problems are gone and they are prosperous again (or as the Bible puts it "gets all puffed up" they decide they no longer need God until the next catastrophe. One of my most favorite lines is "if you are up to your neck in alligators, its hard to remember your initial objective was to clear the swamp."
I know for many of you, you are already aware of this; but its new to me that in all things turn to the Lord and remember your blessings each and everyday.
God bless you all ... you are definitely one of my most choice blessings.

My name is Carol and am 59 years old. I have two daughters and one son, three grandchildren and one on the way. I was diagnosed with Lobular Carcinoma situ in March. The doctors tells me the only way to be 100% sure this will not reoccur is a mastectomy with reconstruction. I am confused and scared but have put this in God's hands and know he will lead me in the right direction. He lead me to this site for your comments, thoughts and support and will do that for all of you as well. Would love to hear from you.

mimi--welcome to the place no one wants to be...but God is here with us and He will be here with you. You will get through this with His strength; He will not leave you....we are all a testimony to that. You will be too, and will be able to help others once you get past this! We're here for you too, sis!

Wow mimi...I just got off the phone with someone on this thread and we were just talking about how we wouldn't want to go through it again...but, he blessed us richly while going through it. This is what I will pray for you....that you have many "blessed" experiences while going through your treatments....

Mimi1951 - you are in my prayers.....I am sorry that you have to go through this but welcome to the group.......you will find a group of great Christian ladies.
Jo - when are you going to Gatlinburg? I loved going there in the fall to watch the leaves turn, plus all the craft/art festivals.

Jo,
I will be praying that every turns out....I miss Gatlinburg....the mountains, crafts and the people. "Mountain" people are a unique breed.....I hope one day go visit back to visit family in the mountains in Kentucky.

Welcome Mimi. You will find enormous strength, hope, love and life here. These women are so strong and so steadfast in their belief in God, its contagious. This is not a place I want to be but thank God its here. I have learned so much about life right here.
Jo ... so sorry you had to delay the trip, which would have done you a world of good. I love the mountains too!
Arnie ... I laughed out loud!
All this talk of mountain people and Kentucky makes me homesick too - and I'm not even from Kentucky! Its just that I long for a simpler time.
Blessings to you, my friends.

That's it Kathleen! A simpler time.......

I am heading to Blowing Rock this weekend for the annual Carolina Conference Women's retreat. This year our church is organizing the classes/crafts and the theme is 'Bee attitudes'. We have a funny skit planned for Friday night when an unsuspecting Queen Bee says, 'buzz buzz little bee, give it all to me' and you can guess what she is going to get (shadows of Harlem Globtrotters). My topic for devotion on Saturday morning is in the Bee-ginning. I am using a list of Bee Attitudes from a plaque that is a door prize for the weekend.
Bee-Busy...doing what you love to do
Bee-True...to the dreams God's given you
Bee-Sure...to taste the sweetness of each day
Bee-Silly...giggle lots. take time to play
Bee-Bold... enough to trust your wings and fly
Bee-lieve...the power of prayer will get you by
Bee-Happy...keep your outlook bright and sunny
Bee-Yourself...Bee-Cause... YOU are really a Honey in God's eyes.
(If you can't guess we are using a honeybee theme)

well, ladies...I live in Southern Indiana...right across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky....not quite the part of the "simpler"life of Kentucky to which you refer, but if I can bring you a touch of Kentuciana cheer every now and then, I'll do it .
(We were in Gatlinburg the end of March over our spring break...just a little over a four hr drive for us....it was nice to be there. My parents bought a time share many years ago, and my mom held on to it after daddy lost his battle to lymphoma, so now she takes us along. It's up high in the mountains, on Ski Mountain View Drive.....)
Still praying for all of you on here!!!
blessings....robin

Barbe, we have been doing this retreat for at least 15 yrs. Until about 4 yrs ago we were going to SC, just below Hendersonville, NC, then we came back to the Christian campground that was used many yrs ago for youth camp, and it is only 30 minutes away, compared to 3 hr drive. Although the women from SC have the long drive now. This is the weekend to recharge our batteries and run away from home . We have lots of activites planned as well as free time on Saturday to go into the town of Blowing Rock or the Shoppes on the Parkway for some retail therapy,
Sheila
