Shelley - I found that if you use a leave -in conditioner on your dry hair then just run your fingers through to style the curls, they lose the fuzzies and you wind up with softer more managable curls. That is what I do to my curls.  If I use a curling iron I can almost get them straighten out.

Edited to add: Profile picture is before curls.

Thanks AmyJo, I have been using some anit-frizz shampoo and conditioner and it is pretty good. It is getting longer and bushy though. I think if I get it cut shorter I can tolerate the curls a little longer. I feel like bozo the clown!

Shelley - get a good layered cut and you will be able to style those curls into a lot of cute styles.

    HI all,

Haven't been here in a while, work and life has been soooo busy!  But it's all good!

After deconstruction, my PS pulled my skin so tight that my incisions started to come apart when he removed the stitches!  But I'm glad it's tight, he did just what I wanted. *happy grin*  But I do have to put dressing on them everyday and wrap an ace bandage around my chest everyday until they are healed (A couple more weeks).  It will all heal just fine, it will just take a little longer.   The ace bandage is super hot during this heat wave.  I do have a camisole and puffs to wear, but it's too hot in this weather, so I've just been going flat.  I'm surprised how comfortable I am going flat!  It's surprises me!!  I think I just feel so good not having the discomfort of implants that I'm just happy being who I am!!  However I am! Very happy just BEING!

I have more demands on my job lately.  And have to really get back to focusing more at work.  I've had a hard time focusing these past 9 months.  I may not be here as often as would like.  I want to make sure I let you all know what an awesome support you have been to me.  You all are extremely encouraging and helpful.  I've received soooo much here on this thread.  Thank you, with all my heart!!!!!!!!

It's good to hear you all talk about eating healthier.  I did that for a while, then slipped back into my old habits.  After reading the posts about sugar, I'm going to try and get back on the "Healthy Train" again!

faithroad - so glad you are doing well and so happy with your decision.  It is a lot easier to feel good about yourself and your "image" when you are happy and comfortable with yourself.  Congratulations on following through on the best decision for you.  Remember we are always here to love, encourage and give as much support as we can.   Love you.

AnnetteK, , AmyJo, THANKS! You are all beautiful ladies, inside and out. I didn't get get my hair cut today because my stylist twisted her ankle yesterday is now on crutches. She had to cancel all of her appointments today, poo. :(

Faithroad and all, I heard a radio program this afternoon on NPR called Snap Judgement. They were doing stories on metamorphosis, as it pertains to coming through a difficult situation or struggle. One story was called "Topless 10K" about a two-time BC survivor (two separate mastectomies) and how she ran topless at one of her races, her decision to do so, and how great she felt about her body. It was really inspiring. I found it on their website www.snapjudgement.org in the list of programs, it is #218, and is the 7th clip listed. You all might enjoy listening to it.

      Hello Sisters,

I was diagnosed July 2010 and successfully finished my chemo sessions last Jan 2011.  Whew, what an experience, but all all through out my experience  I surrounded myself of happy, loving  and positive people. It helps a lot plus trust and faith in God.  Right now I am sporting a very short hairdo, cant wait to have my hair grow long and feel it between my fingers.  Funny, before I wish that my hair will grow back fast, and now that it has grown back I want it to be longer : )  I guess we are all just human. Cheers to all of us and for good health and long life

Shelly - love the curls.  Mine came back curly to.  I have gotten it trimmed twice now and it is still curly, not as curly as yours but still has good volume and I was always a pin straight hair girl:)

Hi- I havent posted here for a long time, Ive had the surgery/chemo/rads, and one yr mammogram and ultra sound of axilla and abdomin, Everything good. you know, everything goes well, until I hear of someone passing away from BC. It really messes with my head, and i start to worry. I hate this disease, and pray that we find a cure soon.

Hi Redninrah, I remember you posting, too. Glad you are not thinking about BC much and living your life. I think I'm addicted to the boards. I just can't help myself. I like reading the posts and keeping in touch, especially this group. Otherwise, I try not to think about it too much.

Not having a good day. Ultrasound showed ruptured ovarian cyst, left side, some fluid in abdomen, but seems to be resolving O.K. However, right ovary is also growing something, a more complex cyst, perhaps a corpus luteum cyst? Yikes. Wondering if the tamoxifen has anything to do with my ovaries going crazy. Haven't had ovarian cysts since my teens and 20's, and now 5 months into tamo, they're exploding. Doc wants to recheck in 3 months, but I have a feeling it will be sooner then that.

    Yell

Thank you.....my hair before chemo was straight and shiny, plenty of people admired end envied my crowning glory.  I hope when my hair grows longer it will stilk be the same.  Right now its not curly its still straight but some white hairs have already grown but upon pulling it, only the tip is white, the root is still black..yippee!!

Thanks for the well wishes, ladies! Still feeling like crap today. I had no idea ruptured ovarian cysts make you feel this awful. The pain is not quite as bad as it was, but I just feel rotten, like I have the flu or something. Talked to the doc today, and he assured me that it would take some time to recover from it. He didn't seem to think that I had developed an infection or anything  ( despite low grade fever, around 99.5 for the past 5 days ) but it will be a week tomorrow that it happened, and if I don't feel better soon, I'll be demanding more attention! I guess we'll see.  {{{hugs}}} to you all!
