Ladies is there anything for this BURNING pain?  He has me on Lortab which is not even touching this nerve thing. My DH had shingles one time and said that is the way his felt at a lower scale. Is it better to use the arm rest the arm?  Maybe Tylenol or do I just endure. Sorry I'm whining just really BAD ("-") Just wait I start chemo on the 29th I'll really be complaining then. All this knowledge out here is just so amazing. Holding you ladies close......HUGS

Stabbing pains in lots of places, it is probably the newlasta combined with theTAxol. Two more to go but I want some good days before next round starts on the 22nd. I don't know that I am entitled to them but I would love to feel good, to feel like I can do something more than stare at the TV.  I don't know if it is the dose dense protocol that is causoing this. It is much worse than the 4 AC rounds.

Please have a good Sunday and  enjoy somethings close to your heart.

    Love Ginger

Hi Tek, Welcome back!  Sorry you've been down so long.  Your almost done now - just one to go!

Designer Mom - Yes you don't mind birthdays as much as you used to huh?  Mine is today - very close to yours.  I'm the big 53 and counting.  No complaints, I'm with you - just keep em' coming!

Daughter came up from the south to visit Thursday and has to leave today, its been nice.  Coming down with a nasty cold though.  Sure hope that doesn't stop me from doing my chemo on Friday, my first Taxatore.  Sore throat and sinuses and very congested.  That won't stop it will it?  Hoping not.  Hope all my sisters are doing well!

    Happy Birthday, Cathy!

Aw AmyJo, I hope the patch helps keep you more comfortable. Diane, you need to TELL your doctor - oxycontin. Lortab is NOT cutting it. Ginger you poor thing. TALK to your onc and make him either lower the stupid dose or give you something for pain! No one should have to live with pain.

    Cathy-- Happy Birthday to you!!!

Ginger--I took Percocet for my Taxol pain.  It worked pretty well for me.  Didn't have much fatigue or nausea with it, just the pain.  Sorry you are having so much trouble with it.  For me, it was way better than AC.  The DD Taxol does have worse SEs--except it's supposed to be better for neuropathy, and you get done faster!

Happy Birthday, Designermon & Cathy! Hope you could eat lots of cake... and that it was chocolate. Kiss

Diane, I've had the shooting pains and general soreness under the arm where they did the incision for the LN too. My surgery was the end of March. The BS told me it was just regeneration. It also feels like the muscle is attached to the incision because it also hurts around to the back. Check it out with you BC is it continues so you'll feel more confident in your knowledge.

I've had company for the last week and not able to get onto the computer.... It's been awful not being able to get my "coffee time" with you ladies. My BIL has been driving me crazy trying to repair little items around my house while I've been at work. Yes, I know I should be grateful, BUT, he does it his way and not necessarily the way I would want! UGH. Stressed out is not good. Ties my stomach in a knot.

Welcome to the new ladies. (((hugs))) to all.

dianemo-  I think you should call your doctor's service now and explain your pain.  Don't wait till Monday, your surgeon would want to know.  You should not be in this much pain 4 days after surgery.  Have you taken the bandages off and looked to see if there is anything that looks inflamed?  I would check for redness, swelling, discharge. Check to see if you are running a temperature.  Did they use a drain?  My BS does not use them, but some still do and they can end up infected.  Please call your doctor's service.  They really need to know.  As for the "whining", bring it on, that's what we are here for.  Been there and done that myself!

amyjo-  I am in total agreement about finding doctors that you not only respect, but like.  If we have to see so much of them (not to mention pay them so much), the least we should get is focused, compassionate attention. I wish I could send you my RO.  I adore him, so smart, caring and funny.  He is even a snappy dresser, complete with french cuffs and cufflinks!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.  I have to say that I just don't have patience for the women who "don't want to get older".  How sad that they don't realize how precious every single year is!

Ladies, I have purchased some amazing 30" square head scarves from www.Anokhiusa.com.  They are beautiful, light cotton, and cost $18 each.

Feel better, all of you, and enjoy your weekend.

take good care and just breathe. . .

The store I purchased my wig at sells those Anokhiusa scarves… and they are beautiful. I didn't care for the patterns they had looked on me. They were only $14 for the at the store so I was pretty disappointed I couldn't find 1 or 3.

Diane Chemo doesn't effect everyone's nerves. And if it does it doesn't mean it will be bad or permanent. Yes I have the neuropathy but right now, 2 days before chemo, I have no symptoms. I'm sure with next treatment it will start up again but hopefully go away before the next treatment… and even if it doesn't that doesn't mean it won't clear up after chemo stops.

Lago - I am happy to hear that the nerve symptoms have cleared up - that sounds like a good deal.

Thanks lago I know I'm such a pessimist I feel if it could happen it will. I'm gonna try working on that. I really like knowing any and everything no surprises. I have my shopping list everything from emu oil to prevention oral rinse for the mouth. Senokot S and Imodium. I know they mention some vitamin B but I don't remember which number so I need to call. Anything other suggestions ladies???????

dianemoe I am the same way. Need to know all the possibilities. Granted I never considered I would get neuropathy but it seems I'm not getting some of the SE or at not as bad as some others.

I never had problems with my cuticle till chemo. I purchased hoofers choice cuticle cream. Works great and very inexpensive.

    What's emu oil for?

Lago, emu oil is an anti-inflammatory, healing, moisterizing cream. I used it during rads and didn't burn. I also use it on my arthritic knuckles. Additionally, I got an allergic rash from chopping some oleander in the yard and rubbed some on and it was gone in 12 hours. I use it a lot.

Barbara -- I just ordered some emu oil through amazon.  How often did you use it during rads?

Omaz, my appt was at 7:45 and I slathered it on after. Then I did it in the mid-PM then maybe again after dinner then after my shower. Really worked fine for me. I still use it. I bought the night restoration formula and use it every night on my face. I am still pretty wrinkly (hey, I'm OLD) but my skin is not flaking.

Thanks ladies for all the birthday greetings.  My sister had me over for dinner and wasn't even allowed to do dishes.  And yes I did have chocolate cake.  Was a nice lazy day.

I have the dry hands and nail issues also and the onco nurse told me to use tea-tree oil around the cuticles and rub it in.  It smells terrible but does seem to help.  Can you get the emu oil at drug stores?

Thanks Barbara I'll try that.  Not sure when I start rads, maybe Dec or Jan.  Any other advice for that tour?

    Happy Birthday Cathy.

DM - When someone starts complaining about getting older I tell them, "I'm so sorry you don't have a life to look forward to."  That usually shuts them up, that way I don't have to slap them silly.

Hopefully I will actually get started with the radiation this week so that I will be done before my birthday.  I have been feeling really tired and sick to my stomach all day.  Hope I am not coming down with anything.  At least I am not running a fever.  Aredia treatment on Tuesday and will find out then if the iron pills did any good or if I still need a transfusion.  Then RO appointment on Wednesday.  I will be so glad to get the rads started so I can be done with this round.

Hope everyone has a restful evening.
