samsue- above are the sites. I did the 3 Day a couple of times when it was still the Avon walk, Komen has taken over that one and the Avon walk is now two days.

Hi Samsue, I understand that the Avon walk funds raised in the Boston area support the Boston clinics, and patients. So there would be Gillette Center at Mass General Hosp, Dana Farber Boston etc. I don't know how the Komen funds are allocated. Kaz

Hi BarbaraA!!0
-
counting the hours down to tommorow's exchange...hard to believe it will be 5 months to the day from my DX....I am wondering, curious, excited, scared, all of the above about what this new normal will be....I can't imagine my pulse rate...

annettek - hoping your exchange goes as smoothly as mine. {{{{HUGS}}}} and prayers for you.

How are you doing Amyjo? Is your skin holding up alright?0
-
Omaz - Thanks for asking my skin is doing great. The miaderm cream took all the peeling skin off with not pain and the calendula gel soothed the new tender skin. With the weekend to heal I was good to go for anohter week. 21 of 30 done. The area under my arms and on the outside of my breast are really tan, but no burning or peeling there. The only peeling was in the V of my chest. The emu oil has kept the skin from getting too tight and is still feels soft. RO is still amazed that my skin is holding up so well.

(((AMYJO))) So glad you are seeing the finish line! {{{{ANNETTE}}}} we are holding your cyber hand today!!
Hey Omaz, you doing OK?
0 -
AmyJo glad you are doing well. I see my RO for a 1 month followup then I won't have to see again. The end is near for you.
Annette hope your surgery went well. I will be having surgery in May but it will not be an exchange I am not continuing with recon.
Omaz how is the LE I saw my PT on Monday an she really worked on my cording and it is getting much better. Got measured for my sleeve but they had to order it for me. Insurance paid 100%.
Hope everyone else is healthy.0 -
mjb and BarbaraA- I go see the LE specialist today about the cording. I can see the cords now. The sleeve they ordered for me was too small and I got swelling at the wrist this weekend. I need a 'long' not a regular so I am annoyed with that. Glad to hear your cording is getting better mjb, I hope mine starts to clear up soon. Thanks for asking.0

amyjo- You sound strong and fabulous! Get out of her way everyone....she's heading for the finish line! Glad your RO is impressed with how well your skin is holding up. My RO was amazed how well mine held up with Calendula cream and aloe. He was a believer in Aquaphor only before me. I think we are teaching our doctors a few things.

AmyJo- your skin is amazing because YOU are amazing:)

Amy Jo....how many times a day do you use the Emu Oil? So far my skin is doing well, except for the rash....but so far it is not blistered or anything. My exchange went really well...it seemed so easy compared to other things. Just hoping it remains ok through the radiation. Sure will be glad when this journey comes to an end...looking forward to summer and recovering from everything.

kallimom - I use the emu oil 2x a day. mid afternoon (after nap) and bedtime. I use the calendula right after radiation and early evening (after dinner). I use the miaderm after my morning shower and before my afternoon nap. My radiation treatments are in the mornings. Here is the order Miaderm (8:30am), Calendula (10:20am), Miaderm (1:00pm), Emu Oil (3:00pm), Calendula (7:00pm), Emu Oil (11:00pm). I foound for the rash the Calendula works best. Blisters and dark skin use the emu oil, just to feel good and to massage the skin and implants use the miaderm. Hope this helps. My RO did not specifically recommend anything, but does have miaderm samples that he gives out to those that ask for it. I have told his PA not to wait for new patients to ask for it, just give it to them. Most people have not even heard about it until they are well into treatments and then sometimes it is too late to do much good. I would not have know about it if it had not been for people here that told me about it and the emu oil and the calendula. ROs need to tell patients about all of these products to help their patients.
I have 8 left to go! The end is in sight.

Great job, Amy Jo! Hang in there! I had the worst burning in the same spot you said, in the V of the chest. My RO said it is because over the years that area has already had a lot of radiation/sun exposure via bathing suits or low cut tops, especially for us Florida girls...The rest has been relatively protected. I think that area peeled about 3 times on me! I used lots of aloe and aquaphor.
Keep up the good work! Hugs!

kallimom- All great advice from amyjo! If you are getting an itchy rash, I found pure aloe to be the most soothing and healing for that. Get a real live plant and break off the cactusy leaf and squeeze the gel out. The aloe from the stores often has alcohol in it and doesn't work as well as the fresh plant. Hang in there!

24 of 30 done and this is the first day I have turned red after the treatment. The calendula gel has worked great to ease the redness and tenderness. The worst part of today was the bone scan. I have hardly been able to move with out a lot of pain in my lower back and hips. It hurts to stand, sit, walk, stand still. and moving from sitting to standing is a real killer. I think I will try to go to bed and see if I can find a comfortable position, I have taken all the pain medicine I can and it has not even phased it this time! Hope tomorrow is better or I may not make it to my treatment. I could barely make it to the car to come home and driving was painful especially to step on the brake. I am so tired and I keep falling asleep so I guess I better go to bed. Hope everyone has a restfule evening. Amy Jo

Dammit AmyJo- I am sorry you are hurting so bad...I wish I could come there right now and help. You are so close to finishing those buggers...I am hoping this is a case of March coming in a like a lion and going out like a lamb. Sleep well .

AmyJo- Hoping you are fast asleep and comfortable. Praying that you wake up fresh and pain-free and ready to take it on again. Rads really will be over soon. You are almost finished. Don't forget to use the fresh aloe if you start to look red and burned.

amyjo - I am sorry you are in so much pain!! Can a friend drive you to rads?0
-
Oh AmyJo!! I am so sorry you are still in so much pain!! Please ask a friend to drive you.

Designermom - Sorry you might have LE. I ended up finding out by having my yearly physical at my PCP. He is the one who referred me to therapy and they gave me the prescription for the sleve. If you still are struggling that may be a route to take.

AmyJo so sorry you are in pain. Hope you were able to rest last night. Today is a new day!

JenC- I did go for an LE consult and was measured and evaluated. So far, so good. She said there was no LE. I'm glad I got baseline measurements. That way if I wonder if I am getting it, they will know what my arm measured before. She fitted me for a sleeve which I will get prior to flying.

DesignerMom - so glad you got the baseline measurments for your arms and are getting the sleeve before you start flying across the country........... Well, sleeping in my comfy bed helped a lot. Pain is soooo much better today. DH took me to my rad this morning since he wanted to be sure I got there ok. Afterwards I talked him in to going to the jewlery store and he got me a new gold bracelet to put some charms on. We stopped at his office to pick up some tables for his garage sale this weekend then he brought me home to take a nap. He told Daisy the dog to take care of me til he gets home. So she took my keys and hid them then jumped up in the bed with me. Now I have to find my keys! She is not telling me where she put them, usually she does. Maybe when DH gets home she will tell him. Guess I will not be going to Home Depot to get some flowers until DH gets home. She is such a funny dog and sometimes she is too smart for her own good. Hope everyone is doing good and getting plenty of rest. Amy Jo0
