Amyjo great story glad you got rest and feeling better

Designermom I am currently working with a LE PT and it has done wonders. I got measured for my sleeve but the had to order it. I sure it will help in traveling, I tried one on and boy I can see the difference. My numbers changed enough from my base line for some concern. I am just in the pre stages but I do have cording issues to be worked on.

mjb - My LE therapist is working on my cords too.  I was 'given' a sleeve that was too short and too tight at the top so they had to order another one for me.  I am sleeveless at the moment.  The LE therapist told me to be very careful with my arm and not to do too much with it.  The cords are a little  weird don't you think?  My cords started as pain that appeared after a little exercise down my arm during the last two weeks of radiation.  I also got a bit of LE at the same time.  Now, 5 weeks later, I can acutally see the cords in my upper arm and at the inner elbow.  I can feel them all the way to the base of my thumb.

AmyJo-  Oh that smart Daisy!  I think DH put her up to it! I had a super smart dog once.  I still haven't found things she hid once upon a time.   I guess you needed to  rest up after your tough rads week.  Is next week your final week?

Glorious weather here in NYC.  I just got in from a long walk in the park.  My new strategy is to load the ipod a friend gave me with lots of upbeat music to get me moving.  Nothing like Shania Twain singing "Up, up, up there's no place but up" to get me going.  I could have walked all the way to Wall Street!  Enjoy the beautiful Spring ladies!

Omaz, I was told that I have cording too. But, I don't think the LE therapist is doing much for me. The PCP suggested I go to someone that does ultrasound. I've not heard of this so will try just about anything to get rid of the pain. Does your come and go... some days better than others?

Update on Daisy the dog antics - when DH got home the other day she went and got my key and gave them to him!  Noone said anything to her she just did it.  Crazy dog.  She slept in the bed with me all afternoon and did not get up until I did.  The garage sale that I thought was this weekend is next weekend.  I know I will be staying inside then as by then I will have completed 29 of the 30 rad treatments.  My last one is Monday, March 28th.  My pain in my back and hips from the bone scan is a lot better now, but does still hurt if I stay in one position too long.  I feel like I am trying to catch a spring cold so I am staying away from people and taking my Vit. C and getting more rest to try and keep from getting sick.  Just gave SV the riot act about taking care of herself so I guess I better follow my own advice.

Welcome Sherry - you have found a great place to be for encouragement and support.  Feel free to just jump right in and share as much or as little as you are comfortable with.  The only initiation is that you have to just show up once in a while and let us know what is going on in your bc journey.  We are all here for each other so jump right in.

grannydukes - congratulations on the new GGD. And on GS engagement.  You truly have a lot to rejoice about.

amyjo-  I know your sweet DH takes such good care of you.  I'm glad he has good backup with Daisy!  So glad your pain is easing a bit.  Soon you will be finished with rads and you can let your body heal and get strong again.

grannydukes-  BIG congratulations on all your good news.  Isn't it comforting to see the circle going round and round.  Life just keeps moving along with celebrations.

sherry-  Welcome to the club no one wanted to join.  These ladies are the best.  Just jump on in with both feet.

Hi Ladies:Checking in to say hello. Saw my Rad Onc this week and she thinks I have healed well  but says to keep moisturizing the breast.  Check.  Scheduled my mamm for May; we are still debating whether I also need an MRI.  Got my hair trimmed for the first time since chemo - yeah!  Ready to get rid of the wig - think I may wait until early April - my anniversary of  my diagnossis.  Seems like a way to make the day positive, not just negative.

Hey Mom!  Good to see you on here.  You get around!

Okay, ladies.  Here is the reader's digest version of me so far. Started chemo in June.  Was started on A/C first - after one tx landed in hospital for 2 days due to severe SEs.  Changed to Taxol x12.  Was able to complete only 9 txs, but managed to stay out of hospital. Then started on FEC - completed one tx then became very ill.  Lost 9 pounds in 6 days - but managed to stay out of hospital again but had to go in two days and get IV tx. Finally MO said enough of chemo and we moved on to radiation.  Started that in November.  After 5 txs I developed fluid accumulation around the lung on my affected side and was put in hospital again, this time for a week.  Was drained twice and allowed to go home the day after Thanksgiving.  After a two week rest from the hospital, I resumed rads and was able to finish finally on January 24, completing 28 txs and 5 boosts.

With tx finally over, I am left with severe pain in all my joints to the point that I can hardly walk or get around.  I have been tested for RA which was negative and am taking prednisone right now which is helping.  Don't know what the final outcome will be as I can't take prednisone forever.  However, I am so much better that I am going grocery shopping today ALONE for the first time in months!  Yippee!

Sherry9136: wow, you've been through the ringer! I had joint pain/stiffness when I finished taxotere (didn't have it with FEC). But I just kept moving, stretching and walking as often as I could. One day it dawned on me that it was gone! So, hopefully, yours will eventually go away also. My last chemo was in Dec. and I think it was about mid-Feb. when I noticed the soreness was gone.

    Sherry - Boy you have been through a lot in a short time. Sending you {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I may be out of touch for a little while as I have to do the taxes for my Mom's estate. This is going to take a while. :-(  So don't worry if you do not see me post for a few days. Amy Jo

Amy Jo - I am impressed.  Doing estate taxes?  You must have a sharp mind.  Mine is still in a fog much of the time!  LOL!

Thanks, everyone for making me feel welcome.

Ladies-  Sherry has been my pal on my chemo thread foreeeeeeeeeeever it seems.  Let me tell you, she's not just whistling dixie about that being the Reader's Digest version.  She is tougher than most anybody I have met!

sherry- I can't believe I didn't recognize you.  I guess it's your new short hair photo.  You are going to love this bunch!

amyjo-  Ooooof! Taxes!  You had to remind me!  I have some due tomorrow.  Can't you teach Daisy to do them?

AmyJo: Good luck! I had an accountant do my  mom's estate stuff. It was supposed to be real easy; but I had 2 different accts. tell me two totally different things about what we needed to do; then the IRS sends me letters saying they don't have a paper they need (which they did have, I had proof), blah, blah, anyway, as usual with anything involving taxes it became much more complicated than it needed to be. Especially since we weren't exactly talking about a million dollar estate ;) !!

Sherry, welcome to the 2010 ladies. It does sound like you have had a rough journey so far, but feel free to talk about anything here.... we're good listeners!

Ladyinbama.... good to see you again too. I must be missing your posts.

    Designer.... still love the shoes!

Mom - you a such a dear.  And yes, sometimes it feels like forever since we started chemo last year and first got to know each other.  You are the best encourager.

I have to admit my biggest fear right now is recurrence.  Since I was not able to complete any of my chemo txs, I worry that I didn't do enough to fight this beast.  My body failed me during chemo and that surprised me. I know that my dx says IDC but really the type of cancer I have is rare (occurs in less than 5% of all breast cancers) and very aggressive with a high recurrence rate.  I try not to think about it, but it's hard.  I have so much more living I want to do.
