wrsmith- I'm so sorry, I hate thinking I understood everything then find out differently. I agree with Barb - if you apt is a ways a way call the office and tell them you need to talk to the Dr. You don't need to be so upset when he should have explained everything. The other person on these threads I'd say to ask is Bessie - her expertise if really DCIS but she really seems to understand a lot and she is excellent with statistics.

Diane I thought the same thing but sounds like some doctors do it differently...??

hi guys.. still dealing with the yeast/bladder infections.. had a cath done today, and thyr'e going to culture it. i got a surprised I've never.. from the uro.. we HAVE to culture this.. shoud've done it last time (duh) you have white cells, but no red cells....that's strange i've never seen anything like it..

so, wait 5 days with nothing but soakes, then on to anti bs, then, a real work up on my bladder in 2 wks.. oh joy...somedays it doesn't pay to get outta bed.. you know what i mean, barbe. glad your painting ( i  know how looking at the walls drives us crazy) but im sorry about the fall.. your painting days may be over, with this last one..

wrsmith sorry you misunderstood your path report. I swear to you all it took me so long to realize I had IDC and not DCIS because they kept saying I had IDC with DCIS..wtf does that mean...well now I know but then I didnt. It wasnt till the doctor was talking about oncotype and the possibility of chemo did I realize what IDC really was....INVASIVE..oh and for the record that was AFTER my mx. Ive said it a thousand times..I wish I found BCO when I was going through surgery. Are you on Tamoxifen or AI's??

3Jays...sorry about the bladder infection. I hope its nothing more. You've had enough thrown at you in this life time. {{{{hugs}}}} hope you have a restful weekend and that the antibiotics knock out the infection.

thanks everyone for responding. I am beggining to realize how differently my BS responds when you are NOT the worst case scenario...makes me really realize my cancer required more of his attention and prompt pathology. Barbe you are right though...how do they know they got the right spot?? I know they inject the dye but my BS said I lit up like a christmas tree (which was mildly amusing as my mx was 12/23) yet he only removed the SN and two other axillary nodes and did some "frozen sections" I do know all my SN were clear so I guess the theory is if the SN is clear the axillaries are clear. Lets hope anyway...makes me glad I did chemo (despite all the horrendous lasting never ending SE's) I still reserve the right to complain about chemo at a later date Tongue out

So here's my rant for the day...I drove up to my sisters to show my niece and sis my new car..my niece was like I love it! Its so nice...not my sister..she goes (in nasally snotty tone) "boy this is a real gas guzzler...those tires are gonna cost you a pretty penny to replace..which will be soon..look how worn they are...its nice though." I said its supposed to get 22/29 MPG she said she looked it up and I will  be lucky to get 15...I said well the sticker at the dealership said 22/29 and I dont think they can misrepresent that on the listing. OMG she is a miserable human being. I could go on and on but I did NOT let her rain on my parade!! I love my new car and am glad I have a reliable car. I just now hope I dont have anymore unexpected expenses.

I am heading to downtown Annapolis tomorrow for a friends bday. I love going there its so beautiful on the water. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Oh Diane, that is such a case of JEALOUSY!!!!! Typical sibling rivalry. You got a new car and she didn't!!

Nice boat pic 3jays, but I'm trying to figure out what is on the boat seat...a box of chocolates?? Could it be???!!!

Barbe- I'm reading on my iPad so enlarged the boat. It looks like a book with some flowers on top- roses maybe? I vote for a box of chocolates too, though! My house is currently chocolate free and I'm having serious withdrawal!!!

Diane- I agree with barbe- total jealousy!!! I will never understand people who begrudge someone else a little happiness. Especially someone who is due some like you. I have a sister who is exactly the same. I can count the number of compliments she's ever given me on one hand. I used to take it personally but now I realize it's their issue and a sign of their own unhappiness and dissatisfaction with life. Hope you're enjoying the hell out of your new car! Vroom, vroom!!!!!

Diane - glad you are enjoying your new car and sorry about your sister's obvious jealousy - but it is you who needs the reliable transportation and it sounds perfect.

3jays - love the boat picture as well as the one about friends.

I had a depressing Friday 13th.  Was leaving hospital where I work and going to garage for car when I somehow caught my toe on uneven pavement and went down in the middle of the street.  Somehow I got sitting but could not move. A psychiatric nurse from the psychiatric hospital next door stoped and called security and protected me from traffic until security got there and then security called rescue and by this time it is raining and I was sitting in running dirty street water so my scrubs are wet and dirty and I am in unbelievable pain. Also called my boss and told her I was hurt. Not sure why I called her as I try to never talk to her, but did it. By time rescue came and took me to ER (around the corner) I could not move my right arm at all. Had elbow and wrist xrays and while waiting for those results DH arrived at ER and HR manager called me in ER to tell me my boss called her and she found out it would be workers comp case - that was good news and bad was that I fractured my elbow and will need surgery. ER splinted it and put sling on arm and now I have to wait to see what workers comp is going to do about ortho consult. Spending weekend in pain and DH waiting on me. Sorry bout the rant and run on sentences but difficult to type with one hand. Good thing is don't think I hurt the foobs or PS will be very upset with me.

    Hope everyone has good weekend.

Delilah- Oh, you poor thing!  Friday the 13th got you good, didn't it?  So sorry that happened but glad there were others around to help you until your DH could get there.  Hope they get the ortho consult figured out quickly so you can get it all taken care of.

I'm feeling kind of sad today.  It is my (step)dad's birthday today and I'm missing him so much.  He passed away about 5 years ago from lung cancer.  It's felt like there's this hole in our family ever since.  My DH and I had to go to a graduation party tonight and it was just so hard to sit around and make small talk.  I couldn't wait to go home.

Tomorrow my sister and I are driving up north towards cooler temperatures for a few days to visit friends at their cabin.  Can't wait to have a little reprieve from the heat!

Well first of all - 3Jays!!!! the friends note - LOL!!! I had to read that one twice as I didn't think it said what it did! Barb, I'm like you I try and see chocolate anytime possible but I thought it was an apple.

Diane! I agree - with sisters- jealousy no doubt about it. I'm so excited for you to have this car!!! It is just wonderful! You have been stuck out on the side of the road twice very recently- You NEEDED this car and love that it is something you love!

Delilah- Wow! I can't imagine elbow surgery- I'm so sorry you must have really hit hard! And you ankle/foot- oh my you must have been in just horrendous pain. I'm so glad something told you to call your boss and workman's comp should certainly help and keep your boss from being angry at your absense. I'm so sorry- hope you heal and feel better soon.

Oh Kate, I'm so sorry! Isn't it amazing how loved one's birthdays sneak up and make us so sad... My Dad has been gone 15 years now - wow, can't actually believe it has been so long and sometimes I won't realize why I'm so sad then realize it is close to his birthday.... Glad you are getting away somewhere cool - how lovely!

I cannot believe it but for the 5th time my AC upstairs is out!!! I have had the guy out each time and he works and makes it come on then alway at night and on a weekend there it goes again!!! UGH! And with MS being hot is not funny - it makes everything so much worse! Also been trying to get ready for my son's Welcome Home from camp dinner. I picked him up Friday night but he was with his Dad this weekend. So tomorrow night I get to really have him home. He is such a little gormet! I'm making a chicken dish from Julia Child - with wine and a creme sauce! LOL! and Caesar salad with anchovies! and his favorite rice and of course spent half of tonight makeing chocolate chip cookies and will make Waffles and praline bacon for his breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice. He will be so estatic! If there is ever a guy who is someone you can get to through his stomach it is him. Ick I also finallty finished a month's worth of really nasty icky filthy camp clothes.... Oh My the smell was so awful!!! Actually driving him home we had to open the windows! Bleck!

Ok, so sitting here with a fan on high and the temp is 78! Wonder if it is actually possible to sleep. Because of MS I usually keep my room at 73.... this is not amusing....

Okay Stanzie, I'm picturing this child coming back from camp (can't remember how old he is, can't remember shit) so I picture about 10 years old. Then you say what he's going to want for food and I raise his age to about 30 (anchovies!!), but then when you say his clothes stink, I bring him back down to the hormonal teen years. So....how old IS this dude?

Delilah, sweetie, my heart breaks for you!!! Last thing any of us need is a bloody 'nother medical issue to worry about!! Gentle hugs to you...

Delilah--very, very, gentle ((((HUGS)))))). You poor thing. If its not one thing. . . that said, you don't deserve this pile up. If I was a little closer, I'd drop by with a hug and a casserole.

Kate--your s.dad is looking down on you and wrapping his arms around you every time you are sad. He's there each time you hear a silly joke and laughing with you. don't think he is ever far by your side. He knows how much you loved him.

Stanzie--OOOh, I know that nasty camp smell. both my boys went every summer for the last ten years to boy scout camp. This is my first summer w/o anyone going and dare say I miss it? The first year my oldest went away to BS camp by himself, someone told me to take ziplocks and write Mon, Tues, etc on each one and stuff a Tshirt, undies and socks in there. So he would know to change his clothes everyday and they wouldn't get mixed up with the dirty clothes. at the end of the day, he just puts the dirty back in the bag. Sooo, when he comes home, I open his bag and what do I see. . . Mon and Tues bags were used and NONE of the other bags had been opened. EWWWWWWWWW. He's 20 now and I would like to think his hygiene has changed. . .

Oh Claire i like that thought of drifting and chocolates (maybe some wine) sounds nice.

Delilah you poor thing!!! Omg thank god someone came to your aid. I can't imagine how scared and in pain you must've been. I had a friend just have surgery thursday to set/fix her broken wrist. I hope workers comp covers all the costs including time off to heal.i hope you get it fixed soon!! Hugs to you! Rest and take it easy

Stanzie YUM and yuck! You made my mouth water with the thought of bacon etc. I love that your teenage son is a foodie. I like anchovies used in the cesar dressing but i don't want their bodies in my salad. My old roommate when i was young used to make bacon with flour sugar and cinnamon ..is that praline bacon? Yummmmmm. Btw all teenage boys stink. I used to say my nephews room smelled like feet...blaaah. sorry you're having AC issues. This heat lately is no joke. Have the repair guy check that there are no clogs. That was my issue and water was builing up on the unit not draining. That was an inexpensive repair. Good luck!

Kate i am so sorry you are missing your dad. How wonderful to have had such a loving relationship wirh him. Im glad you and your sister are getting away. I hope you have a wonderful restful day!

Barbe you made me lol...clearly his pallet is beyond his years.

Enjoy the rest of the day!

Hello my lovelies.  Decided to check in here before hitting the road and so glad I did.  It felt like coming together for a coffee klatch and you all made me laugh.  Stanzie- The unpacking of camp clothes brought back so many memories.  I swear there were times my DS's clothes could have walked themselves into the laundry room!  And aren't you such a wonderful Mom with that gourmet meal!  Barbe- Your post was a total crack up!  Claire- Thanks for the sweet thing you said about my Dad looking down on me.  Made me tear up but feel better if that makes sense.  Diane- It's true!!!!  Teenage boy's rooms smell like feet!  I could never put my finger on what that smell reminded me of!

And love the visual of all of us in that boat (would we capsize?) drifting along and eating that apple/chocolate/flower (???) and sipping wine.

Well, better finish getting ready and load up the car with some drive tunes.  We have about a 2 hour drive but it will be 20* cooler when we get there.  Woo hoo!  (BTW, Stanzie, hope your a/c gets fixed so you're soon 20* cooler, too!)

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, everyone!

Ptdreamers- We're up in Pinetop/Lakeside and it is heavenly. We left Phoenix and it was 105* and then drove through a hailstorm on the way up! Bizarre! Arrived here and it was 72*! And our friends convinced us to stay an extra night so won't go back to the inferno until Tuesday.

Stanzie- So glad you had a great homecoming and dinner with your DS. And that your a/c is fixed!

I feel so bad for my friend here. We came up to give her some support. She's been battling her own health issues. She had a knee replacement that became infected and they haven't been able to get it under control even after removing the knee, 6 weeks of IV antibiotics and 5 surgeries. They just told her they need to remove her leg from above the knee down! It's so horrible. They are going to try to be seen at the Cleveland Clinic to see if there is anything they can do. Her DH asked us if we would stay an extra night because we're distracting her from everything and have kept her laughing. Of course we said yes. I just pray they can help her at CC.

Kate! That is horrid!! I know there's always a possibility of infection with surgery, but seriously, she's the first person I've heard of having issues with infection after a knee replacement. It MUST be a hospital acquired infection!! Does she know????

Kate, So glad you are able to help your friend laugh with all she is going through. My Mom had both knees replaced a few years ago and I remember how careful they seemed to be about avoiding infections and how they stressed how serious an infection would be if she developed one. I remember it because the first nurse at the rehab facility  wasn't as careful during dressing changes as they had taught me to be so I wanted to get Mom back to  her home as quick as possible (Mom was only there a few days).   We'll hope your friend's new doctors at the CC can help her. Glad you are enjoying some cool weather. It must have been quite a  storm that you went through.

Barbe- I think it has to be hospital acquired but proving it is another thing. They took out the first artificial knee, packed it, sent her home with the IV for 6 weeks and then brought her back- no sign of infection. Placed a new knee, sent her home and new strain of infection showed up! It would have to be the hospital. Not sure why she kept going back but it is what it is. The CC is reviewing her records right now.

Golden- My friend told me they're supposed to be extra careful because if any bacteria adheres to the metal in the knee you cannot get rid of it with antibiotics. This just should not happen.

Wow, bacteria adheres to metal? Can't you just, like, wipe it down with bleach or something? I'd have thought that would be a harsh environment for it. You just can't pick up those kinds of infections at home or you'd always be sick!! To be THAT aggressive it had to come from a medical institution. I feel SO bad for her. There she was, excited and nervous to get her new knee and KAPOWIE!! Just not fair!! When I'm sick or have medical issues, I calm myself by thinking that maybe I'm saving a loved one from having the same thing. In this case, it's just NOT FAIR!

There are a couple of strains of bacteria, that almost 100% of the time start in the hospital environment - golden staph is one I can think of now.  When I was working in the hospital they were strict about us only being allowed to wear a wedding band, no stones and we were lectured after touching any patient to wash out hands.  Then you watch the doctors go in and out of rooms and lift dressings and touch here and there and never wash their hands.  Look at whomever is mopping the floor, taking whatever is mopped up from one room, dumping it in the bucket and moping it onto the floor of the next room. Also, years ago, to wash  you had to touch the taps but I always used a paper towel to shut the water off and threw it away.  And then there are the filters in the air con systems that are never changed....and on and on.

As barbe said, it isn't fair - that's why years ago people thought if you went into the hospital you surely would die.

I have noticed that they don't come in every day and mop my hospital room. I HATED seeing the dirty old man trying to cop a peek of skin!! They do empty garbage every day, which is at the door. I like how there are sinks outside the bathroom, as I'd always wondered what germs the nurses were bringing to my sink from someone else's room!! I NEVER use the sink on the outside of the bathroom. The last time I was in for non-surgical issues (kidney) I was put in the maternity wards!!! LOVED it once I got used to the crying (of the mothers sometimes, too!). I was alone in my room and knew that the women walking around weren't bringing new disease to the hallways.
