Hello Aussie 12 and welcome :) Cancer websites are addictive huh !! I wonder when I'm going to stop but can't help myself !! I'm on the other side of Australia but like Perth (my sister used to live there). Tamoxifen sucks huh !

Morning all, you were busy last night. Hi to the newer folks, its a good place here just to chat. I am actually a Kiwi who decided she liked her Aussie cousins so comes here to say hi and knows that they will understand her.

Quiet Saturday morning here, will wander up the road for a coffee soon and then will do some gardening. DH has a meeting until 1.00 and then we are going out for dinner with friends. I  should be doing some work that I managed not to do yesterday instead went shopping with DD2 as she needed cheering up. She and her DH are planning to move to Canada next year, DH is Canadian and so she had to have a medical. The xray showed a problem with her heart so now she has to see a specialist. Its not just that the move might be delayed, it is that it seems she has an congenital heart problem. So Mum was needed to be around.

Hoipe you all have a good day.

    Big hugs

Aly,I'm sorry your daughter is now uncertain about getting to Canada, but I hope everything settles down for her and she is on her way. It's sad for you, but hey great excuse to go to Canada.

Karen, I can go one better thans Chrissy's offer of stowing away in your bags..... I will carry them for you - yes? Seriously, that sounds like an absolute dream trip and will be so lovely for you both.  You must be so excited.

Aussie, welcome and so glad you joined us. Wow, I've been on my ownsome over here in the west all this time, and now there are three of us. This is really a great place to talk about anything, cancer related or not and I agree with others, it does become addicted (but it's a good addiction to have).

Hello all and welcome Aussie, glad you decided to post - we all support each other here and have become good mates.

Melp - keeping my fingers crossed that you get onto the shortlist, it's good that you are getting more Centrelink money though - hopefully that will ease your stress somewhat.

Well today isn't quite so windy here.  It's blown a gale for the past couple of days and we've come through unscathed thankfully.  Next door has a very large limb of a tree down, but that seems to be it for our part of the world.

It's local council elections here today - so DH and I are off to vote soon.  We've decided to go down to Bredbo and vote - 1. we can go to the dump as well, and 2. there's a pancake restaurant there lol - so we are going to treat ourselves to coffee and pancakes.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Aussie, I am another Kiwi who also enjoys our aussie cousin, they are like my first cup of  tea of the day, Welcoming and extremely refreshing, and very knowledgable, have learnt heaps of these ladies, more than i have off my oconcology team,  this whole BCO is very informitive, somebody is  either been there, in the process of or maybe in the future need the expertise of these ladies.

Trish,  i cant remember whther i told you, Amy had her little goa kid, white one, she is sooo cute, ella is her name, if i have told you i am loosing my marbles, i can't remember,  but yea, took amy to vet, she had a blind teat, and the udder was filling up and no channel for milk to flow, so they had to open it up and now he on an injection of antis to stop infection. God its a cute little kid. Chrissy you would love it too and any other animal fanatics on here.  we have little b/w kid goat and now the white one, boy and a girl.

. am going to have some noodles for lunch, yummy and its blowing a gale esp in Wellington,  BIL in south island, he left yesterday, glad he never went today, and if it keeps up he may get stuck over there/ hubby and i having a quiet peaceful weekend. lol.

Midnight you are right I would love those babies as I love all the babies of nature. Some are as cut as and other are pretty ugly but still very lovable. Babies of any species just get be laughing with their antics.

We have had ferocious winds here as well for about three day and our power went out for about six hour the other night. What a shame it was right on tea time and we had to get a pizza. Thank goodness the pizza place has a traditional oven that is heated by wood. Man! were they busy that night. Still a little windy but nothing like then. The problem is that all this wind has managed to drop the temperature by about ten degrees! Brrrrrr we are back to winter and fires.

Well better get my arse into gear as DD and fiancé will be here in a couple of hours for the rest of the weekend and I need to make the bed and mop the room.

    Love n hugs all. Chrissy

Hi Melmax and Aussie. Glad you could join us, sorry you need to, but what a great support everyone here is.

Well I just got home from Sydney. Jenn and I met up for coffee and cake, and her uni interview. Of course the coffee and cake were the most important thing! Lovely to see Jenn again, I can't believe how much her hair has grown, it looks great.

Kate, I am so thrilled that you got your job.  Well done.

It was nice weather in Sydney but freezing by the time I got home. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. x

    Hi Girls,

Welcome to the new ladies - nice to have you here.

I am absolutely pooped - decided it was time to take the pool cover off - an hour or two later and it's done - had to sweep it and wash it as I rolled it up - hate the bloody thing. Got the water tested and had to add all sorts of stuff. He tried to tell me we needed salt - it hasn't rained so how could the salt just disappear. I'll get it tested again next weekend and see if it really does - I never trust their salt level testing thingy - it was broken once and I added about 12 bags of salt for no reason.

Still been riding a few times a week - the furthest I've done is 11.87kms - maybe tomorrow I'll break my record.

Chrissy - enjoy your time with your DD.

Welcome Melmax and Aussie , glad youve joined us. Hi everyone else Smile

Been a weird week. Ive had all the extra symtoms of the flu, without having the flu lmao. Sorish throat, slight aches and pains, slight fevers, conjunctivitis (which i always get with a bad flu and just a mildly runny nose. Reckon that flu shot I had earlier in the year must have stopped the worst of the actual virus and just left me with the extras. Also had to work 2 x 10 hour days and again 9 hours today sigh. I have 6 staff and every one of them has been sick this week. Cannot wait till we're all healthy again.

Looking forward to a stressful night with the Broncos playing in the elimination finals, bet I have no nails left by 10pm lol.

Anyway Im over the worst of the cold/flu now and hope everyone else is staying healthy and enjoying their weekend.

    GO THE BR0NCOS Cool

Hi everyone and welcome to our new Aussies!

Had a great time with katopet yesterday and am so grateful that she agreed to be my interview for my uni subject assignment :-)

Glad we caught up early though because the "little" headache I had got worse and then didn't go away with painkillers like headaches normally do. Took panadol then added neurofen and when that didn't work I went to bed at 7pm. Woke at about 3am with my head still hurting and was so desperate I scrabbled around and found a couple of Digesics left over from my surgery last December. They dulled it but still didn't get rid of it!

Have taken a couple of nurofen this morning that have dulled it again but it is still there! Of course you can all imagine what I've been thinking.... :-/. I have a whole day of medical appts tomorrow so will mention it to my BS when I get to her in the afternoon.

    BRISBANE!!!!!!!!! Booked finally on Friday!!!!!

Hubby and I are flying up together on Saturday morning for a getaway :-) Booked us a table at the Jazz club on Saturday night and then he flies home at about 2pm on Sunday and I stay and do my work visit to Princess Alexandra on Monday.

We are staying at the Royal on the Park. Does anyone still want to catch up for afternoon tea or early dinner with me next Sunday????

Sorry youve had the heeadaches Jenn, hope they dissappear for good soon.

Far as you coming to Brisbane, pick memememememe lol. Im keen to catch up for sure. Perhaps we can all meet for the early afternoon tea at the Casino and chat till dinnertime Tongue out  Royal on the Park is very nice, Ive stayed there heaps of times but its a long walk back from the Cas to the Hotel, though I used to manage it back in the day after a huge night out Laughing somehow

Editted to add, I didnt know we had a jazz club, you'll have to tell me all about it when we meet

Linda - there's a website - just Google Brisbane Jazz Club! Looks like it's just a ferry skip across from the park.

Will probably be with hubby until 2pm (ish) so not sure if early afternoon would fit with that? Really, I'm very easy so will let you Brisbanites decide what's best and just turn up where/when you tell me :-)

Maybe we should call the early afternoon tea pre dinner drinks and gossip?? Works for me lol. Depending on what everyone else wants to do Im thinking meeting at say 4 and then heading to dinner around 6 or so. That way it wont be a late night as we have work early Monday morning. Presume theres a cafe or two at the Casino or somewhere else if anyone has a particular preference. Anyway I too will go with the flow, just passing on my thoughts at this stage for consideration Cool

I would love to come and meet Jenn, but afternoon tea would be better for me. Couldn't have my sweetie miss out on dinner could we :)

Did a big ride today 12.48km - got swooped on by a magpie again - luckily I was wearing my new cycling glasses.

Racy - probably by 5. I could catch a bus in to save parking - as long as I was home by 6. I love Cafe 21 - very fond memories of great lunches there when I was working on a City Council project - the rates computer system. I still make beef frajita pizzas like they used to make. Their club sandwiches are to die for.

Lolalee - welcome - a friend of mine had an mx for dcis as there was more than one spot, but she has not been given any other treatment. I can't remember the grade. I asked my onc about it - ie should she take tamoxifen or something and he said it wasn't standard treatment for DCIS. I guess it dpeends on the doctor.

Welcome Lolalee, I csn't help you with the dcis, or a bs in Sydney, but Jenn is also from Sydney, so I'm sure she'll chime in when she sees this.

Welcome Lolalee. I was initially dx with dcis grade 3 but with 3 large clusters I had to have a masectomy & SNB which is when the idc and the lymph involvement was picked up. From memory the tx was going to be just the masectomy with no rads required and certainly no chemo. I think because my dcis was 100% er+ I was always going to be placed on tamox or arimidex and they were talking about oopherectomy at the time too. lol the idc actually made tx much less complicated and took away a lot of decisions.

lmao @ Racy, my days or should I say nights at the cas were back quite a few years ago now when my ex and I would come back to oz every 6 months on holidays and meet up with all our friends there. I do have fond yet blurry (haha) memories of the place but somehow NEVER had a meal there. Coincidentally we would stay at Royal on the Park as they always had the best rates and we often got upgraded.

Sue, maybe if all agree, we could meet at club 21 shortly after Jenn's hubby departs and just go from there.

http://www.secureparking.com.au/DisplayCarPark.aspx?carparkid=118&gclid=CPvLksj6p7ICFWlMpgodWXUAeA - parking $7 no time limit or you could park your car as a guest at Royal on the Park and walk up with Jenn

WOW - afternoon tea and dinner would be great guys. Might need a walk in between those two things though! If we are going on to dinner we can always go back to my room for a freshen up. I figure you are all expert on Brissy so will let you decide :-) There's four of us so far if I'm calculating right? Racy, Linda and Susie and me. I'll PM you guys my mobile number.

Hi all! Just got back from a very lovely lunch and afternoon with DS and fiancé. I'm so full as is DH that I don't think either of us will require tea tonight ......... lol.

I just remembered that my niece is bringing my younger sister to visit tomorrow and I'm supposed to see the doc again in the city also........Mmm guess I'll ring the doc office and see if I can get in either Tuesday or Wednesday. Seeing my sister is way more important as I haven't seen her for about a year as she lives over on KI.

Have fine you lot with your get together. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Lyndal - that sounds like a good idea - I cleared it with Steve - I'll have to check the bus times and walk up the Mall from PO Sq. My knees aren't all that great at the moment so I'll probably be slow. Or I could get a train and the free bus up to the top of town. I'll check out the parking too.

Really looking forward to meeting you all.

    I answered Racy via PM.

Yeah Susie, I cant wait - it will be wonderful to meet you, Racy and Jenn on Sunday and then knowing we will have a larger get together in December is thrilling.

Ive had a look at the casinos website. Seems club 21 is under renovation, but they have other options that dont appear to be too expensive. I'll have to ring them to confirm, but if dining there they seem to offer free parking so perhaps thats an option as well. Just not sure if its free when spending heaps to err DINE or if its still free to just spend $20 and eat lol.

Editted to add, I could always pick Jenn and Suzie up from the Royal on my way to park at the casino if needed as well. It is an uphill walk and would be hard on the knees for sure
