    Hello everyone

Sorry I've been MIA lol - been fairly busy over the past few days.  Went to Wollongong on Friday to do a photography gig (paid better than a wedding and was sooooo much easier) and spent a couple of days with my BFF (we've been best friends for 43 years now!).

Thinking of all of you that are having more tests done, and welcome back Karen and whoohoo for the good test results.

Jenn - it will take a while to get back to normal.  I finished Herceptin in January and by then I was thinking I should be back to normal.  The phsyc helped me understand that it would take longer to get there.  I think I'm there now, finally.  It's taken time, and a change in my AI to help that along.  But it will come.

Same for you Kylie - you'll get there, it just takes time.

Do you realise it's less than 4 weeks till we meet in Brisbane??? 3 weeks this coming Friday lol but who's counting?!

    Have a great one girls

    Trish

Hi Girls, i am having  my MRI this morning, they phoned me yesterday to see if i could go at 10.30 instead of 11, so i will find out soon what a mri is like. hope everything is ok with you all. cheers for now. also we think we have may have a found a new staff member, he is going for a ride for two days to see if he likes it and he fits in ok. hope he does as he impressed BIL, hard to please person, i did school him up abit and told him, if you really want this job and the way to impress the boys, hubby and BIL. it worked lo, ie is to get in there and help get the trucks out, tie stuff down etc and ask what they would like done. he did that and that instantly put him in good books, lol  we also told other driver,he going with, if you want to get yr holidays Dec, make sure you speak positive about the work and not moan what you think you are hard done by on. which we think has been happening and they loose interest before they start, we were told that what happens by somebody who went with him. so we will see.    cheers

CT brain done this morning. It took the tech two goes to find a vein for the contrast and both stabs hurt so much I had tears rolling. The first place she tried is bruised, swollen and sore and it hurts to straighten my arm. And yet here I am having a hugely busy day at work and having to work through the pain. Tried panadol but it didn't make it any better...

No idea when I will get my results since my appt with the onc isn't for another couple of weeks. I emailed the nurse to tell her I had it done and am actually working up at the hospital tomorrow in their office for work - so will ask her then if/when I can have the results. Actually, tomorrow I have access to the hospital patient files for work - will try and be good and not enter my own patient number...

Jenn hope you get good results. they put the dye in me half way during procedure, i dont know if it routine or they ask for a specific reason and it was asked at the end of ity all, do i take blood thinners. well no i dont. just as i know the tamoxifen is prone to cause clots. so i guess i will find out in due course. am nackered tho. so i will end this for the night. xxxx

Good luck Midnight and Jenn I sure hope the results are all good!!

I've been over in Clare at the physio again today.........third treatment down and done! I'm really feeling the benefit and my arm feels the best it has since I started this dam journey. I've also had my assessment for the Strength for Life and been approved for very light weights, stationary bike and lightly weighted leg press. It was also suggested that I do hydrotherapy as well so that will start next week Wednesday ........I'm looking forward to building my strength again because right now it is abismal!!!!

    Have a good day all!!

Midnight I hope your results are great too

I had my annual mammo and us today, she didnt say much and she actually us'd the area under my arm where all the lymphs were removed which is unusual, but I'll get the films and hopefully their report to my bs tomorrow to get confirmation that all is ok. Im feeling better than I have since diagnosis so Im sure i'll get the all clear.

Hope everyone has a great night and im really looking forward to meeting the contingent in brisbane in a few weeks

    Great news Jenn

Midnight - I hope your results are good too.

Lyndal - they should always US the lymph area. Did you go to the Wesley?

Chrissy - I'm going to try and clean house before you come, but if I don't get it all done, please don't be cross :) My knee is really bad and I limp around at the moment. The floors really need doing, so it's not really just because you are coming, just that I MUST do it soon. I've been delaying it because the leopard trees are losing their leaves and Steve keeps tracking in dirt.

Lindal....fingers crossed your mammo is all clear :)

Chrissy....fab news that you're feeling so much better, hope you enjoy the hydrotherapy & the results....also a good outlet to get out & meet new people :)

Off to my 2 monthly onc appointment shortly but already know the scan results were stable so no nerves for me today :):)

Sue I'm not coming to visit your house I'm coming to visit you! If the floors aren't done and other thing aren't done I don't care so don't push yourself coz I'm just happy to be coming......lol. I fully understand how hard it is if your knee is doing its darnedest to stop you from doing anything.........been there, done that. Just take care ya hear?!

Karen hoping the visit is a good one and things are still a-ok for you.

I had to giggle at the physio as I was running through all the problems she kept shaking her head and eventually ran out of room on the sheet she was using. I have a tendency to not worry about stuff unless it drives me crackers so discount a whole heap. It's only when I have to list all the crap that even I go Hot damn!! I can't believe the list is that long!!

Hoping you have a good night!

Sue I don't think I have your address and ph number. Can you PM it to me please? My niece is happy to drop me (not literally....lol) right at your front door so just let me know what time suits.

Yeah, poor physio and the worst if it is she has to come up with a very gentle exercise plan for me! I think I have her grey matter really working hard!

Can't wait till I get to Brissy!!

You girls are gonna have so much fun in Brissy....

Well, visit to the onc didn't go as expected.....

The CT scan report said 'there are multiple new areas of sclerosis within the lumbar spine in keeping with metastasis but could from treatment'!! Wile the conclusion said 'stable disease!!

However after looking at the scans & I told him I've had a lot of extra back pain he's not convinced it's healing, rather more mets!!

So, off I go for another bone scan.....yuk, hate lying still that long!!!!

So fingers crossed for me please girls .......:)

    Oh Karen...bugger!

    Fingers and toes firmly crossed.

last time I had a long scan I took an Ativan. Most times I keep my eyes shut and put myself on a banana lounge at Port Douglas. Last bone scan I opened my eyes while the scanner was right across my face and had a bit of a panic attack but managed to keep still, breathe slow and deep, and get back to that banana lounge.

I wish you all the best, chat here often, please, and we will do what we can to help you get thru....or hopefully celebrate!

    Sending love, Angela

Oh Karen, keeping everything crossed for you too.  I hope the bone scan goes well for you. You do get sick of lying under scanning apperatus though, it seems to be never ending sometimes. I find my back aches just from lying on the uncomfortable "plank", with your bone mets that might make it worse.  Poor you sending ((((hugs))))

Angela - I sometimes put myself on a beach when I'm going for a scan - it seems to help.  Mind you when I'm told to lie still and not move I usually get an itch that gets worse and worse lol.

Jenn - fabulous news whoohoo!! I'm pleased for you.  Can't comment on the Tammi, but Herceptin - well while it's nothing compared to chemo I found the last few months fairly hard.  It seems to be cumulative and the last few treatments were the worst, so H might well be contributing to your problems.

Midnight - hoping to hear good news from you too. Glad the MRI was ok for you.

Linda - hoping to be able to do a whoohoo for you too. I hate it when I'm not told anything now. I'm lucky I have a radiologist who is wonderful. He's the one who biopsied the cancer a couple of years ago, and I only go to him now.  He will tell me if he finds anything wrong.

Chrissy - glad your arm is feeling better.  Sounds like you are going to be one fit woman soon with all your exercise plans.  That's inspiring!

Kate!! I keep meaning to say congrats on the wedding for next year! April?? You need to give me a date :-) if I can be there to do the photography I will.  We have a wedding already booked for April, so I really hope you haven't got the same date lol.

    23 days to Brisbane! :-)

Jen, sorry your vein work was painful, but great about the results. I open everything, I figure I paid for it - therefore it is mine - not to mention I am extremely impatient and hate the stress of not knowing.

Karen - bugger. It sounds like your Onc is pro-active which is good. Giant hugs.

Lyndal and Midnight good thoughts for good results.

Trish it sounds like your business is taking off. That is great news. How is your job going?

    Hugs to all x

Good morning ladies,  while i was under mri, was trying to not to think that i was in the narrow cone, but amused myself with the noises it makes. i felt at one stage i was in a gaming arcade, all the funny noises, and a work shop with its drills, excuse me i have a weired sense of humour, but each of the noises sort of reminded me of different activities you hear almost every day, all in one machine. you could just about form an orchestra, lol hubby said, well after today, they would confirm that yr brain is still there. lol. i said, yea, thats what my ausie friends being saying to each other about themselves. lol  all in good humour. you kinda got have a little amusement in yr life with BC or you would get down alot. i dont know how long they take to get the results back of mri s, as soon as i know i will keep you posted. HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES

Back again - I went to see the surgeon last week. He said my breast was still quite swollen and red from radio and he thought it would have settled more by now. It is still at least two sizes bigger than the other one and I cant wear anything remotely tight as you can see it is much bigger.

I know if I over-do it, my breast becomes really sore as does the top of my arm. He said there was nothing to worry about but I would love to know how long before everyones settled down? Thanks, Kylie x

Hi Kylie. mine took awhile to settle down too. i am quite big busted, so the healing took alot longer after radio therapy. i had a lot of skin break down and was covered in bandages for a few weeks, took about  2 months to get rid of the swelling etc. hope yours comes right very soon. i was sore under my arm and we had to shift house and i could hardly pack or do a thing. it was murder for a few weeks. i had to pack to get us out and shift the stuff out of another house for BIL to be able to sell it. we hired some students to help  do it. i dont know now i got thru, if it had not been for the students i would not of got thru. they were life savers. all young adults looking for holiday work, and they loved it and i had a female to help me pack inside stuff, was a God send. but i hope your settle down soon Kylie. warm genle hugs

Kylie - I don't anything about how your skin reacts after rads as I didn't have them.  Have you checked to make sure it isn't lymphadeama?

I will be having my MRI on 5 December.  Finally heard from the dr - it's a new machine, that's why we weren't exactly sure when it would be, but it's now installed and working, they are just working out all the kinks before they "start injecting people" lol - the dr's words.

I also have pretty exciting news.  Kylie your question about my job was timely.  I don't know if you all remember earlier in the year a place I'd worked at a couple of years ago wanted me back?  It all fell through, unfortunately, but I got a phone call a couple of weeks ago saying money was in place and a new position had been created, and would I please, please, please come and work for them.  They were so great to work for and I really enjoyed the job so said yes.  Then they asked me how many hours would I like to work and how much would I like to get paid lol.  I asked them what they wanted to pay - and the figure nearly made me fall off my chair - it's 50% more than I'm getting now, and more than I've ever earned in my life. They were willing to go up if that didn't suit! So we are now working out all the paperwork, and I'll probably start in early January - I haven't told them here yet, will do that when all the paperwork is in place. I'll do a 35 hour week to start with and once everything is in place and settled, will probably to to 4 days a week.

It's in a brand new building and I'll have my own office and car parking spot, and oh - did I mention the money is fantastic? lol and I can do the job in my sleep? lol. So I'm in seventh heaven at the moment.

No - not the job with the schools, unfortunately - that organisation went broke and we were all retrenched.  This was a short term contract I did straight after the schools job with Lockheed Martin.  They make "big boys toys" like submarines, helicopters and the like lol.

Hey Trish,  thanks to you and your help with the interview info,  the last two went well and we  think we have found the right one. he is 27, been with trucks since about 15 as his dad had a company, so he has done almost everything we will be requiring of him. he is having a ride with Paul, another driver to see if he likes it for two days, today being number 2.  he had actually had cancer, malenoma and they gave him 5 years to live.  they were going to give him chemo, but apparently they got it out by surgery and has been NED for three years. it was on his arm by his elbow, funny thing it was the opposite arm to what most drivers  hanging their arm out the window, it was the left arm he had a problem on. but he seems very keen, he likes the hours. not all hours, its just a day shift 6 til 6 and no weekends, the other company wanted him to do all hours and apprently he does get tired, so we may alternate the longer hours and shorter hours so each driver is getting not too tired. so thanks for yr input, hubby said, they helped alot those questions you sent. Wink
