Lovely day over here. Pool is drained and looks blue again, once the acid washed all the gunk off the sides. early last night I was lying on the lounge watching some tv, and out of the corner of my eye I saw something move in the hall way, I kid you not, along walked a skink (a tailess lizard) probably about 10 inches long. I was frozen in terror, (stupid I know, I mean it would have been more terrified of me I'm sure) but the dogs went straight for it, and it was hissing at them, so I was yelling out to Paul, but the doors were all shut to keeep out the noise of the water blaster he was using, so I just had to get up and move to get him. He thought I was carrying on about a little lizard, thinking I was exaggerating somewhat, and when I went to show him where it was, it was heading off to the bedrooms with the dogs all sniffing it's behind. Not sure what I would have done if Paul wasn't here. I would have been running to the next door neighbours for sure Frown. I'm sure it will find it's way back to my side of the fence, and is probably the same one I encountered hiding deep within my garden beds last year when I was weeding.

Trish, do you want me to send you money for the accommodation? I could transfer it into your account, or will we just pay when we get there? I'm so excited about meeting up with everyone. Chrissy and Aly you look great together in your photo. I'm sure you had a wonderful get together.

Jenn, really pleased to hear that things are going well for you and you are right on track in terms of physical recovery.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday. xxxxxx

Kate you are probably right about encountering the same lizard last year as they tend to be a bit territorial particularly when it comes to breeding. I have a pair in my garden who have either two or three babies every year. I think they are beautiful but I understand your fear. Your pool sounds lovely and almost ready for use........right now I bet the water feels freezing!

Had a real lazy day today as I realized yesterday that I have a doc appointment in the city tomorrow so it will be a big day. Don't worry girls, it's just my six weekly check with my GP.........he likes to kee an eye on my which is a good thing......lol.

Jenn good luck with your return to work tomorrow......sure hope that being back in the office doesn't wipe you out too much.

    Love n hugs all! Chrissy

DGD out to it after a hard weekend, Party on Saturday - she is now four and a long walk after swimming on Sunday. So very busy weekend for grandparents. We visited MiL on Sunday then caught up with friends. Will sort out photos later. It was a great holiday in Australia.

    Hello all

I've had a busy weekend. We went to the zoo on Saturday so my DH could test his new camcorder and I could test my new lens, was a great day. Yesterday I had one of those cleaning days - I now have a beautiful sparkling bathroom and laundry lol.  Then lots of weeding as we are starting to get overrun with them.

I'll book the room tonight for Brissy - I'm getting super excited too - can't wait to get up there. Will let you know Kate about money - if I have to pay for it up front, may need to get some from you, if we pay when we arrive then that will work out well.

Aly - what a gorgeous pic she looks like an angel :-)

    Trish

They look lovely while they sleep, gorgeous picture Alyson. glad you had a lovely time in Auz. a lovely time spent with Chrissy.

Trish, we used some of the questions you were giving to the girls on here going for interview.  esp the problem solving one, you can see their  brain ticking over and the strengths and weakness. we did MORE interviews last evening, i think and i hope we may found one.  last time we did that, they ended up with another job offer, so hope the boys decide quickly as i am sick of doing these interviews as we can only do them in the evening. its good to interview them as they dont always look how you imagine them to be from their cv.if you can think of any more brilliant questions like that trish, let me know from an employer prospective, we getting over done with these interviews and our mind does a blank and you end up looking like a dick with nothing to say.

Kate, you would not like to come in our house  we have blue tongue skinks and bearded dragons in our lounge in aquirums, we  abit abit reptile minded. i love my lizards, these are about two feet long.  we are bit strange though. nuts actually. they are quite gentle, but you get them cranky they do bite. we have turtles too.  we have a zoo at our house, DH is animaL CRAZY,  Dr Dolittle, they all flock around him, cats, soon as he gets home, the cats trying to sit on his knee. hard to cope at times and time consuming.

hope you girls have a good day.

Back at work today and now enjoying the last of the sun on our deck with hubby and a red wine...

Pretty tired both physically and mentally today but not too bad!

Got home to find two lots of mail - my free post-surgical bra sent by Breast Cancer Network Australia and my rub-on nipples from the USA arrived. The bra is really really comfy and I plan on rubbing on some nipples after my shower before bed :-). This could be fun!

Yes. I'd been wigless for quite a number of weeks at work before my surgery :-) So the only surprise for them was the colour.

I too am looking forward to meeting everyone. Must be in about six weeks.

I saw that Sue said she was not inclined to go out at night. Is it Saturday when we are meeting?

As I said before, the casino is a good place to start. Jo Jos is another good venue as they have a variety of cuisines.

What do you think Sue and Lynda?

Jenn, you look so ModSmile... I had a bit of a disaster last time at the hairdressers, said I wanted to go dark but with 'lots' of highlights, so that there was lots of two tone definition. Well I think my hair dresser is a bit timid with foils, and my hair is thick, so her so called thick ones just get hidden. I am waaay too dark now. I will rectify before I come to Brisbane though. Just went and got my referral for my annual mamogram, am also now having blood tests to see if I am immune deficient as my mozzie bite bites are really nasty ulcers. Dr thought I probably have become compromised. Not good. I feel terrific I must say, certainly don't feel weakened at all.

Trish, any luckwith the hotel yet? Gosh once thats in place that's it for me. I'm all organised and will just count down the weeks until I'm there. Really really looking forward to it. Bye for now. xxxx

    Ok, hopefully I don't miss anything :-)

Kate, haven't booked hotel yet, will do in the next couple of days. I know, I've been slack - but also super busy and tired :-)

Racy, went to Canberra zoo, it's not as big as Sydney but not too bad. Now when are we all meeting? Kate and I arrive on the Friday, I think Kate gets in mid afternoon (? Kate?) We have all Saturday free for what ever everyone wants to do, lunch, dinner or both.

Jenn, you look fab! Rub on nipples?? Will be interested to hear if it's fun to rub them off! Lol

Aussie, I meant to reply to you earlier. I obsessed for a good 18 months. I'm not so bad now, it will still come into my head from time to time, but it's much better now.

Midnight, interview questions hmmmm .... Will put some thought into it and pm you in a couple of days.

    I'm off to bed girls

    Love to you all

Good morning Ladies,  We have a lovely day today, lovely blue sky.  I have just recieved an appointment for an MRI brain scan on 13th Nov. have to bloods  a few days before hand,  but not after two days b4 MRI. these are to do with my headaches. they not as bad,  and i have good meds when i have them instead of the neurofen as they not good on my tummy long term. as i have GORD. gastro, osphugus reflux disese and those pills not good on that.  Anyway i have never had a MRI b4.  is it scarey girls, those of you who have had them.   i am constantly walking like head is in foggy cloud and tire so easily. if there  are no brain lesions, it wont be as urgent to see  the neurologist, if there are, well then thats a different  out look altogether. This morning i got news of one of my previous bosses, that she has MS, she has just got married and life going so good for  her and this happens, thats a terrible dam thing too, up there with cancer  i think, i have nursed an elderly man with it. you loose  all bodily function, bladder etc and you end up like a rag doll.  i felt really sad when i heard that, as she was the activities co-ordinator who arranged my wedding reception at the rest home i worked in, we had an afternoon tea with the oldies and they had a part in the wedding too, i worked there  12 years . they  were so excited and the  ladies residents came to my hens night, i had that there, it was very special and its a shame that the one who has such a sweet out going nature gets that horrible MS. she was also the 2nd in command boss. of the rest home also.  never mind we cant do much about what hapens to our poor bodies.. hope everybody is ok and enjoying their day, thats  something we all  need to try and do. enjoy every day girls. life does get tough at times.

Yay!  I'm getting more excited lol

Midnight, I've never had an MRI - but will also be having one in November sometime.  I think (from what I've heard) is that they are very, very noisy and some people feel claustraphobic.  That's all I know.  I'm sure someone else has had one - Sue just had one I think and can describe it better.

Midnight the MRI are very noisy but they do give you some ear plugs and an eye mask as well as an out switch if you are claustrophobic. They also take a lot longer than a CT but other than that there really is nothing to them. I'm sure you'll do just fine with it.

Yup, I concur, excitement is really getting ready to take off!.......lol. It's getting closer! See you all there.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Trish, is that Friday and Saturday?

Are there any things that you ladies want to see or do while in Brizzie?

    What's the agenda lol?

To recap, we have Trish, Chrissy, Kate, Sue, Lynda, Racy. Anyone else?

    Hi Racy

Yes Kate and I arrive on Friday - me before lunch and Kate later in the afternoon.

I've been to Brisbane many, many times so nothing special that I want to see, but Kate and I do want to take the opportunity to do some photography.  Kate has the same camera as me, and we want to see what we can do.

I'm not sure if Sue and Linda or you are working on the Friday?  If Sue is, then Chrissy may want to meet up with us on the Friday afternoon?

As for the Saturday - it's up to you Brisbane girls to decide if you want to meet up for lunch or dinner or both and where.

As we have an appartment in the city for the two nights, we will have room if anyone wants to meet up there for a drink and talk at any stage as well.

    Trish

I just updated the Brisbane thread in this forum - the Australian and New Zealand Breast Cancer Survivor one - where this thread is located. I've made it a favourite so I can keep up with it, otherwise I'll forget it's there lol

Anyone else on here who would like to join us in Brisbane - we would love you to join us.  Of course it's understandable that not everyone can afford it.  But please don't think that you aren't invited.

    Trish

i would love to come, but just a busy time.  hubby and i need time out  with each other, we have not even had a honeymoon, six years on, it was get married on the saturday and back into work on monday, and i moved from a place called Whangarei to Palmerston north. The truck bussiness had just started getting established.  i would love to meet you all.  maybe another time. Very tired today, i have been lately, get out of bed and feel tired, annoying as i need to do stuff, also the dogs decided it was time to play. and i had to be the stern mother and growl very harshly. the little shihtzu was the issue really, she  been sleeping most of day and decides to play when we trying to sleep, TART. now she sleeping, great, but she kept on disturbing the other one and so my sleep was interupted on top of my tiredness already. one day i hope to have the pleasure of meeting you all. have a great day all.

    Hi all

I had my checkup on tuesday and everything is good. I saw the physio, she gave me some excersises to do, you don't realise how stiff the surgery site is.

Midnight I had an MRI scan, it was very noisy and took about 30 minutes, I had mine done on my boobs before surgery. I got really hot and was just about to press the panic button and thankfully it finished.
