Aussie12 that's such good news about your checkup - Yay! for you.

Aussie-Sharon Kate and I have a Canon 50D.  Yes - I started my photography business in April this year with a colleague and we are having a ball.  Business is starting to pick up which is great, we mainly do weddings and it will take a long time for that to build up as there's such a long lead time.  We are doing another wedding in January, which will be fun, then have another one booked for April, and we think another one in September.  So three weddings for next year so far - you can see we aren't going to retire on it.  But we do have a Living Social deal coming out at the end of this month, for portraits, so that will generate a lot of business.  I've forgotten where you are?  Does the group do photography regularly?

Midnight - your MRI will be before mine, I don't have a date yet.  There's a new MRI opening up in Canberra - we only have one machine at the moment and it takes forever to get into it.  My radiologist has been organising a new one and wants me to be one of the first patients lol - so just waiting for it all to be set up.  He had hoped it would be up and running in early November, but I suspect it will be late November or early December.

    Have a great day all
    Trish

Just a note to you all - a lady has started a thread under our Australian forum for stage IV ladies - I know there are a couple of you who might want to say hello.

I've also updated the Brisbane get together thread this morning.

Trish, what is your MRI for?

I'll be working Friday but can go into the city after work.

If you camera ladies know of things you would like to shoot, I can try to get you there. Maybe the city from Mount Coot-tha or from a CityCat. Southbank is also interesting.

Did you hear in the news about the new blood test to screen for bowel cancer? Apparently, it can detect cancer in 70% of cases. The test should be available late next year.

This sounds like a very positive development; much easier for patients than current testing options.

    Hello all

Kate, it's not great that you have dropped so much in your heart function, hopefully it won't drop any more or you will have to stop Herceptin. But it almost always goes back up once you've stopped.

Racy I'm having an MRI to use as a baseline for the future. As I have cysts in that breast and having had ILC in the other one, my radiologist wants something he can compare to if it all goes pear shaped in the future.

I didn't hear about the bowel cancer blood test, I got my letter in the mail yesterday from the government saying I'd get my bowel cancer detection kit soon :-) that' the one everyone gets after they turn 50.

I did hear that the person who won the Prime Minister's Science Prize has been successful in research to grow a breast from tissue. Now wouldn't that be great!!

Hi Trish:) our little group meets fortnightly and we have a challenge for the next fortnight...we just did Watercraft and before that it was Wedding Mosaic...challenging:) I also send some photos to a photo club in Wales so that's fun...I met them on Flickr.  I have a 60D Canon with a 100mm macro & 18-200mm zoom lens.

Are you on Flickr?  I'm in Esperance, Western Australia...have a great Sunday. Sharon x

Hope everyone else is going well, and good luck Kate with the remainder of your Herceptin treatment, I was on the Hera Trial in 2003 ...

    Hi Aussie-Sharon

You have a great camera, and it sounds like your group is quite active. I'm not on Flickr, but my business has a Facebook page where we post an image every week. I'm also a member of the Canberra Photographic Society and we have a monthly competition which has a set topic as well as an open section. PM me your Flickr site, I'd love to have a look.

I'm hoping to get the Canon 5d mark III in the next few months, but having just paid $2,500 for my new lens, the camera will have to wait a little while lol

All good thanks Trish, much apprecited,  xoxo

Hope other ladies are ok on here today. it is quite cold, we are heading into summer and i am going to have to put a hat on and another jersey, thought it was ment to get warmer now. GRRR. We finally got to sleep last night, the place was banging with guyfaux,  and the dogs were all agaitated around the place, they hate fire works. ours included, well it was really only upsetting the one. she would not stop and i was getting worried that neighbours would get peeved off, but there were several others too. I bet A&E were busy atteding to injuries and i know the fire appliances were out too. i call it burning money.  i dont mid it in a display, but  i think some people are irresponsible with them. Anyway must go out and do  this cold job outside, getting food for animals sorted.  cheers for now.

We stop to watch on this side of the Tasman as well and one of big race meetings is held at the same time and it stops to watch on big screens.

Now to see how sensible or not the US has been.

Alyson, i don't know if you have the same in Auckland, but i am finding it darn cold for this time of year, last night it was that darn cold we had gas heater on, it was a quieter night here, everybody got over their crackers and fire works, a few bangs here and there and Holly, the dog started up abit but settled down she hates the  fire works. hubby was told  on his truck run, somebody over in feilding started up in the morning on sunday at four letting fireworks off, i think they got a short shift and last night BIL said, he was awoken about 2 to the sound of two very loud bangs, so he got up and went out to check animals as people have crashed into his paddock b4, but there was no evidence in that area that they were upset, and then this ambulance came rushing  followed by a cop. and they went up and down road a few times and then went off. so somebody reported the bangs, but nobody knew where they were from. so what ever happened, hope nobody was in trouble. do hope evrybody ok and well. going to have a shower now, have a good day, well the rest of it. its coming up  to 3pm over here.

Try to cope with a lymphodema flare......grrrrrr! It annoys the crap out if me when it does this. Oh well, time will sort it out and in future I will be a little more wary about how I use it. Other than that doing fine and starting to get things prepd reading for everything speeding up between now and Christmas! I can't believe how close that is..........what happened to the rest if the year? Did I miss it? It just seems to have gone so quickly!

    Take care all!

    Hi all

Chrissy look after yourself, sending hugs. Yes the year is going fast and I am trying to get organised for Christmas.

Midnight yes it has been cold here as well, nice night tonight though. We have been having a drink with our neighbours and wandered home and for the first time commented on how pleasant it was. Still a bit cold though.

Have watched the US election while trying to write two reports, got a bit written but will have to get on to it tomorrow.

    Big hhugs to all.

    Hi everyone.

Alyson, I was wondering what NZ does for Melbourne Cup so thanks for reporting there is a lot of interest. Our racing industries are very connected with many horses, trainers and jockeys crossing the Tasman regularly.

Midnight, 'cracker night' was banned in Queensland about 40 years ago because of injuries.

Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't popped in for a while.  I have been reading but not up to much else.

It sounds like everyone is busy.  I hope you are all well.

Sorry about your LE Chrissy, that sucks.

Midnight, I am so over trucks and DH's that are never home or are exhausted when they are. Sensing some resentment here????

Sunday will be my 1yr since diagnosis. So much in such a short time. I think I am coping ok then I went to the surgeon this week and found myself driving down the highway bawling like a baby (I did pull over).

A big hug to everyone xxx

All well with me, i too am reading but everyone is so well at the moment which is a wonderful thing. Looking forward to our brisbane get together, cant wait to meet Chrissy, Trish and Kate and get back together with Racy and Suzie and of course to meet anyone else who can come.

Annual checks coming up this month, so hopefully by the end of the month I can report NED for another year. if I get the green light that will be 4 years since dx and nearly 3.5 since finishing tx.

Still feeling much better since switching calcium and even starting to feel like exercising. havent done any yet, but hey wanting to exercise is almost as good as actually doing it, isnt it?Laughing

Kylie, i am so over trucks too. its very hard trying to find somebody, ours is day time runs, mon to fri, but oh its no picnic, when everything is ok and running smooth, ok its not too bad, get a bitchy controling bil, then its hard work and i have interviews this weekend again. we will probably be one  more year and throw in the towel. when they are on line haul, they not around, but ours is local, but  neighbouring towns. Hubby was saying, he was sick of the whole dam thing and if i had been in the truck other day, we may have kept going and going. BIL was in a hell of a mood. but i was ready for him and he would of got a blast like no other.

Racy, i wish they would ban the fire works here too. it really scares the animals, Shana the clysdale, we had to move to another paddock as she was running around really stressed. and the minitures were not happy either. so its really upsetting to the dogs too. they tried to ban it here once, but  it went in the cold pile of things to do later.

Chrissy, am sorry about yr Lympodema. i have heard its very painful.  thinking of you.

    everybody take care.

Midnight running any sort of business can be a right pain in the butt. I really hope you can get the right staff happening and things will start to run a little smoother for you.

Sue, are you okay? Haven't heard from you for awhile.

Hope the rest of you are having a good day!!

Linda - sorry to say that not all may not be well... I have just received in my emails a referral for a brain CT scan (now booked for Tuesday next week at 7.45am) from my MO.

I had emailed my nurse to let her know that for the past couple of weeks I have been experiencing a weird headache at the back right of my head, along with mild nausea and some vision problems (floaters, things going slightly out of focus). Independently those could all be side effects of Tamoxifen however combined they are a bit worrying...

I am really enjoying being back at work but these SEs are challenging my productivity so I need them addressed. I knew that my email would probably result in testing but getting the copy of the CT script is pretty confronting.

Ah well, must get back to work.

Jenn, twice I've been sent for head and neck CT's and twice the only thing proven was that I had a brain.........surprise, surprise! Here's hoping that your CT shows the same and the things you are feeling are truly just your body adjusting to the Tamoxifen.

    Love n ((((((hugs)))))). Chrissy

Jenn - can't you have an MRI instead - no radiation. I had one a year or so ago and I do indeed have a brain :)

Sorry to hear that Jenn and Midnight, I too have had several brain scans of various kinds in recent years - was wonderful to get confirmation I had a brain. Glad they could book you in so soon, gives you less time to worry. Dont forget it really could be any number of things that arent cancer and arent serious as you know.

Gentle hugs in the meantime. I hope the time passes really quickly for you both so you have your answers and I pray that they are great results with NED.
