    Hello all

Sorry have been missing for a while, photography has been so busy, which is good, I'm having a ball, but not much spare time.

Mandy, sweetie I was so sorry to read your posts, you've had a bugger of a time. (((((Hugs)))) I can't offer any advice, but sounds like the others have given you some good advice.

Kylie, sorry to see you aren't feeling well either, hope you are getting some time feeling better today.

Linda thank you for the laugh! I can't get the image of frogs running all around your house now lol. I have to agree though seeing something alive and moving in the loo sounds wrong, or something out of a horror movie! Did you ever see "Dreamcatcher"? At least I think that's what it was called, a good old Stephen King story.

Chrissy I've been catching some tennis when not glued to a camera or computer, it's been great! Whoever said "go cricket" on the previous page (sorry AI challenged brain here) needs to get a life lol. Tennis over cricket any day. Actually anything over cricket (even frogs in the loo) any day lol.

We've also had a break from the heat yesterday and today, after the 42 degrees on Friday, I couldn't have taken another day of it.

Well I'm off to bed, hope you all have a lovely restful night.

    Love to you all

    Thanks for your advice Sue.

We stayed at Evolution apartments in Tank St so I cooked a couple of nights. We also ate at Eagle St Pier as a treat on our last night, caught the ferry and took heaps of photos. It was a 5 min walk for Michaela to Roma St each day, then the bus was brilliant to QUT. I was able to waddle around the CBD or across the pedestrian bridge to Southbank. Saw the costume exhibition at the QPAC. What a wonderful cultural precinct. Especially during school holidays, so many children so well entertained at the library and museum.

Weather was great, considering what everyone in the other states had to deal with.

Michaela is about to embark on Year 12. She is a bit of a clever clogs, having already passed year 12 maths very well. Now she is studying what she loves; biology, politics, design and dance....???Careers? Who knows as long as she's happy.

    Cheers ladies

Angela, how awesome that you had a great time in Brissy. You must be very proud of your daughter.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Unfortunately bikkies and ginger don't help much. It is like being really sea sick 24 hours a day and I am trying to convince myself that feeling like I constantly want to vomit is worth the benefits. I see the onc next Friday and will have a chat.

Well today I needed to get dressed....lol.....I have a friend and her partner calling at some point for a coffee on their way through to the city. So looking forward to seeing her. I have to drag myself away from the tele for a time and get some jobs done as well........what a pity weekends don't last longer......sigh!

    Have a good one all!

Trish, yea Cricket, last night i cooked the rest of the sausages and bacon, we had a left over tea.  We were sitting down eating it and Ron was watching his beloved cricket, i had an urgent call to the little room and i said, keep an eye on my dinner, i need to go to loo. Well i got back and my snarlers and bacon  were all gone and worse of all my iced coffee was drunk as well.  bloody dog, Goldie and heidi , she loves the iced coffee, but i bet the other ate my sausages and bacon. i said, HONEY you were supposed to be watching my dinner, Oh shit sorry. i was and got side tracked. i said, all my sausages are gone and my bacon and i bet that little tart drunk my iced coffee.. Typical, the cricket side tracked him. so i went out and made  a lovely ham  salad sammy. which was lovely actually. . What the annoying part was i had no iced coffee left to drink, i have now, he brought one this morning. I was annoyed at the time. so yea cricket cost me my tea. lol

    Hey everyone :-)

Hey Kylie, I am not having the problem to the same degree as you but am having random days of nausea/mild headache which I am attributing to the Tamoxifen. Saturday was pretty bad as I felt that "sea sick" feeling all day and just had to push through because I had errands to do.

Please do let me know what your dr says about it because this is really frustrating. When it happens on work days it's not too bad because it seems that sitting at my desk working is better handled than having to be up and doing stuff. It's especially bad if I have to go in the car for any long trip.

Midnight your stories always make me laugh.  We had a mad irish setter (Paddy) who stole a whole cooked corned beef off the kitchen bench.  I didn't realise he'd stolen it, until DH came out of our bedroom with the partially chewed remains.  I laughed my head off, apparently Paddy couldn't wolf the whole lot down as it was too hot, so was desperately trying to chew the cooler parts on the outside, I think he burned his tongue.  He did it again about a week later, but I got smart and put it in a container that he couldn't get to.  The look on his face when he was caught was priceless too.  I've never heard of a dog liking iced coffee though - dogs, never cease to amaze and amuse me.

Kylie - I hope your onc can come up with some solutions for you (((((hugs))))

Angela - so pleased you had a good time in Brissy, and what an accomplished daughter you have.

    Chrissy - enjoy your friend's visit :-)

lol Trish, well it was either her or hubby who drank my iced coffeeas i had not touched at that point, and he would tell you where to stick it, so gotta be her, she is a shihtzu and i had another shihtzu Abbie who also liked it. as for the irish setter, you would of  thought  he would of learnt the first time after burning his tougue lol. Flaming  theiving dogs. lol  .

Kylie, am sorry you feeling so horrible, hope something sorts out for you to make you feel better. I was told to have my Tamoxifen at night before  bed and if i was going to  get nausea, at least i would be asleep and would not interupt the day as much. But if yrs is continuous, thats not gonna work is it. wishing you the very best.

So happy you had a good time away Angela.  nice change aye.

Liv you tire me out just reading what you do......lol......I wish it were possible for me but I'm afraid I'm past it........lol. Hydrotherapy is a bout as physical as I can get.......I guess it's better than nothing.

Had a great time with my friends today when they dropped in. Apparently there is a new railway museum/centre being tried in Peterborough and John, who is a mad steam enthusiast was asked to be a guest speaker. It went so well they are going to do another open weekend at the end of November so I just might go up for the weekend as well and check it all out.

Settling in for a great game of tennis with Federer......oooo yeah! Have a goodnight all!

chrissy you made me think about why i try to keep up exercise even when im exhausted.

apart from the obvious health benefits, it more a mental thing, it really does clear out a lot of rot in my head and i think im scared to stop because probably in my subconscious i think there will be a day when i have no choice and will have to stop & if i keep going i cant see that day creeping up

..its like the cancer cant catch or beat me cos im going so fast..

does this make any sense to anyone?  xxxxx

Liv that makes sense. The hydrotherapy is exercising in water using the density of water as resistance and the buoyancy to aid the execution of the exercise. It makes the muscles work harder without making you sore. There are some exercises that I do in the water that no way known could I do them out of water. I started them to strengthen my leg after a knee replacement last year as well as my arms etc as I could feel I was no longer strong. I was beginning to feel very unsteady and that wasn't good so I had to do something.

Sometimes it's an effort to go as its a half hour drive both ways but I do feel good when I'm doing it and even better after.

    Hi all

Kylie I don't feel nauseas on Tamoxifen but just lately I've been getting reflux which I had when I first started taking it. Today my whole body was really sore and still is, my joints get really sore if I don't keep moving.

Liv I'm reading "Running Pink" at the moment and your comment reminded me of Deborah in the book. She ran around Australia after her Breast Cancer and she said virtually the same thing.

I'm the opposite I can't get the energy to do anything !!!

Morning girls, well a hot one today, but i mean our hot to your hot is like been antartica. you have HOT TEMPS there, some freinds went to Melbourne over weekend to see their new granchild and  the temps got  to 27, as the day before they were 47, phew. they were lucky they did not get that heat of the 40s.  reading the news  this morning about an nz ecominist who wants to eradicate  the domestic cat out of nz as its destroying wild life. He is telling us kiwis not to get  new cats or to replace the ones who die.Tongue Out thats what i would to do him. he would never do it, there are alot of  strays who would  probably eat the birds and wild life. but the house domesticated cats  not so much as you are supposed to feed them so they dont. he is having an interview tonight on  the news programme, he will probably be told to suck eggs. as  there wont be many people who dont  have at least one cat. he will get  some support, but  def NOT MINE,the dick head. They need to eradicate rats and mice in that case too, hows he going to do that without cats. sorry i saw  redFrown when i saw that and now venting. It makes me wonder, you get these council workers who say you are only allowed so many cats, its illegal to have too many, we will take them away, well what about the ones that are not homed and running around, starving hungry, we have one that keeps stealing our cats food, i catch him inside heaps, i now let him have a feed as he will starve and i dont like any animals starving.  A person can get prosecuted for neglect, animals abuse and you try and feed them and you are not allowed to have them, as you have too many, i was  watching the enforcers. ausy  council taking these cats off this women in Brissy, she did have a lot, but hey they were well looked after. she rescues them and gives them a home. so you are not allowed to keep them, but to let them starve is just as bad and you get prosecuted for neglect.  so either way you are doomed.  all her cats were  health checked and none had anything wrong with them. she still got in the poo.  oh well

chrissy - i really would like to give that hyrdrotherapy a go, do you have to have injuries? certainly sounds  worth the effort for you.

aussie 12 - hope your sorted out the tamoxifen.- interesting about the book, must have a read then perhaps i might understand myself, cheaper than a shrink. lol

tammy - you are so right, exercise does make you feel good.  just start with baby steps, perhaps just walk to the end of your street then try and do a little bit more each day and before you know it you will be right back into it.  you too aussie 12, baby steps!

midnight - living in suburbia its hard to imagine the grief wild cats bring to birds etc. dont hardly see any around where i live.

    ((hugs)) to all.

Liv you can do water aerobic without assessment by a Physio but hydro is assessed and set by a Physio. I had to have an assessment to find out what were my weaknesses and strengths and capabilities then she devised the exercises tailored to suit me.

she couldnt walk from here to the letterbox 1 year ago, now she struts her stuff around the park for over 30 minutes and then she sits in her car waiting for me.

anytime you want to come with us your welcome.

just start with walking to the corner or to the end of your street, i promise you it will happen if you are consistent with just a 5 minute daily walk to start.

Just a quick hello. Have been reading each day but haven't posted.

I am down in Nelson where we celebrated my brither and sister in law's 50th wedding. I was a junior bridesmaidtoo old for flower girl and too young for bridesmaid. It was fun catching up with people I haven't seen in years including someone I baby sat when I was 16.

Have had a couple of unsuccessful shopping expeditions. I am looking for a dress fo DS's wedding but so far nothing. Nelson has lots of dress shops but can't find what I want. Never mind will keep looking.

We are off over to Golden Bay today so hope it stays fine. It is beautiful over there.

Just hope I can get around easily as I am having so much bone type pain which I will check out when I see the doc in a couple of weeks.

    Big hugs to you all

Hope all you lovely lady's are ok. i have  to go to Hospital Doctor today at 3.15, pretty late. but never mind. hoping hubby gets to  go with me. he is going to try and get somebody to do his pick ups on truck so he can. but if he cant, he cant, he wants to ask a few questions himself and ask that everytime i ring  bc nurse, she does not return my calls, do you think thats un reasonable to ask ladies,  its true tho, i leave  messages to call me back as you never get her and she never calls me back. well must go, have some brecky and  get on with it.

Midnight, I do hope you get some answers today. It is not fair if the nurse doesn't reply, that is her job and she is getting paid to do it.

DD is in early labour but it still could be a while.

I got my blood tests this morning that Jenn posted about - to find out if I am metabolising tamoxifen.

I saw the Registra. not the specalist.  and he booked me in for another mamo  and we talked about the tamoxifen and the only alternative is injections 3 monthly and the BC nurse will only answer your calls if the questions are sensible or something she can deal with. I would of thought that  if she didnt know, she would find out and ring and let me know. As far as the low iron count and the  checking for internal blood loss is the GP problem to sort out, they only deal with the breast issues. bit hopeless. he did examine me tho and  booked a mamo for may. they have me booked in sept and i did not tell him that there was one booked for sept, he should check my notes and see, so if i get  another one. well, all the good.

Personally I find that attitude from the breast nurse and the Registrar repulsive Midnight. Admittedly the registrar is probably only passing on common info from the department, but still how dare either of them denigrate your concerns like that. The low iron could be a complication from chemo for all he knows and in my experience my medical team are extremely on the ball for any side effects or residual damage from the chemo and treatments.

I dont think theres any excuse for the breast nurse, who's job is to ease us through our treatments and to ally our concerns where possible, assist us to negotiate the unknown during our care and treatment. I had a wonderful breast nurse who helped me a couple of times when I really needed it and Im very sorry that you havent had access to that same professional and caring service that I experienced.

This actually makes me really mad Yell

I think Id write a letter to the little madam's bosses stating that if she is incapable of performing her duties in assisting in the treatment and care of breast cancer patients, then she should look to go into a field more suited to her abilities. perhaps suggest a roadside council worker Laughing - seems to me she's been so lazy that holding up a sign saying stop and go would be more suited to her desire to work.

Im also annoyed that the registrar has belittled your legitimate concerns as he did. All of the dr's SHOULD have our care as the most important thing. Palming off issues as not being of concern to them is NOT acceptable. If I fronted my onc or breast surgeon and told them I believed I had internal bleeding, they would have me admitted and xrayed (or whatever procedure it is to determine it) before I could blink. I think id be writing a letter to his bosses too, advising them that he needs further training in how to talk to patients.

I hope you can find out whats going on soon midnight. This has been dragging on for too long and you need to get a diagnosis and treatment happening.

    End of rant.

Hope everyone is having a good week and are all feeling as well as possibly.

Bravo Linda! I absolutely agree with everything you said.  Midnight I think you have been given an unacceptable response and the breast care nurse needs a shake up.  At the very least she could have returned your call and told you that she did not know the answer to your questions and either referred you to someone else or found out.

Most young Registrar's are quite uppity, not very knowledgeable but full of opinions nevertheless.

    Hello all

Midnight - do you have an alternative onc you can go to? I agree with Linda - your treatment by him and the nurse is unacceptable.

Linda - how are you going?  How's the shop going?

Lola - how are you going after your surgery last year?  Are you getting back to normal?

Everything going well here, except I'm a bit p'd off with Foxtel - they aren't showing much of the tennis!  We had great coverage up until Monday, then it all seemed to stop, a little bit in the morning, but nothing really now until the finals.  I had to pay for the channel for a month, and now not sure it was worth it.  We don't get commercial tv where we are (in a black hole lol) so pay tv is the only way we get anything.
