Hi Girls, hubby was with me and he felt like they did not give a stuff, because he did not have any thing in front of him about the iron. he just did not want to go to the low iron thing. apart from, that would make me tired. well yea i knew that. i am very tired and dizzy alot, which is a symptom of the low iron. Hubby thought he should of been arranging for a scan to see what can be done. being in the public system is harder sometimes as they dont go the extra mile, you become a number in the system. he wanted to leave all that iron stuff to GP to fix up. was not very helpful. they only want to deal with the breast issues which led me there in first place, i did not have chemo, only rads. and i am on iron tabs, which hubby is very worried about as i still have low iron and heamoglobin at the bottom end of normal. just waiting for the results of the bowel stool for any bleeding from that area.

Trish check your mobile phone provider.......they usually supply all the coverage on your phone free all you need to do is download their app.
Well I'm back at hydro........and the Physio really made me work yesterday.......so much so that I thought I was going to be so sore this morning I was actually not wanting to move when I woke......lol. Move I finally did and to my surprise, the legs and all but my hip muscles are just fine. I really can't believe it but happy that its not any worse. I haven't been able to swim for any distance for such a long time but yesterday as my warm down I did three lengths........I'm truly amazed and want to try to improve on that each week. swimming is suck good exercise but until now my shoulders and fitness have not allowed me to do it. I guess the hydro is doing its job and the proof is in the pudding......lol......I can swim again without puffing like a puffing billy!......yay!!!!!!
Midnight, change your onc if possible, that sort of treatment is totally unacceptable and as for that breast nurse, she needs to go back to school and relearn the parameters of her job.......calling you back even if she can't answer your question is her job......no excuses!!!
Love n hugs all! Chrissy0 -
Hi All.
Midnight, my friend had RX and was extremely tired for a very long time, in fact it was years not months. She actually described it as extreme fatigue and not relieved by sleeep. It would hit her at different times of the day and now after 5 years she is beginning to feel more normal. Like you she did not have chemo so it was entirely due to the rads.
Trish thanks for asking, I am healing very well from the surgery and my scar is looking fine, think the Vit E did the trick. I was to have had another fill this week but my 90+ Mum had a small surgical procedure so I am behind schedule. Will start again after Australia Day and hope for the fills to be complete by mid Feb. I will then have a 3 month break before Exchange and nipple reconstruction. Time consuming procedure but DH will be treating me to a lovely holiday in France when this is all done.
Happy Australia Day everyone!

Just popping in at work (lunchtime). I can see that everyone seems to be well and love the fact that we seem to be talking about all things "not breast cancer" at the moment! I can't participate much about the tennis since I find watching a ball going over a net pretty boring. Now when we start talking rugby union in winter season I'll be all over it .
Off for my second last Herceptin infusion this afternoon after work. Usually would have it on Friday afternoon but they couldn't give me an appointment in the chemo suite so I have to go today. I'm always a little "spacey" and very tired the next day and I have to be at work tomorrow as I am so busy and trying to get things squared away before I'm off for 2 weeks holiday. I even have a face-to-face meeting with a doctor at one of my work sites to attend tomorrow - aaaaaargh.
Nothing much else to say really... This random nausea is still hitting me pretty much everyday. I'm wondering if it's actually the Herceptin. At least if it's the Herceptin it will go away when I've finished. If it's the Tamoxifen I'm stuck with it for 5 years!
Kylie - I had my blood test done a week ago. Emailed my nurse and asked if she had the results yesterday and she didn't get back to me. I know she's away from work today so am hoping I get a reply tomorrow. Not sure what is happening with payment for it though since the blood collection place I went to didn't take payments and they said that the central office would send me an invoice. No sign of it yet... What did they do for you in terms of payment?

hello lovelies - today im off for a brain scan, having my coffee right now, a bit of coffee wont affect the scan hopefully. been having lots of headaches lately, strange, only get them when im asleep and then it takes me a couple of hours when i wake up and then they are gone.
had another little victory yesterday, did body balance, its yoga with thai chi. was absolutely hopeless & just about walked out half way through the class, so unbalanced & inflexible.
had a look around the class and there were woman over 70 years and ladies that were trying to lose weight and they were doing it, doing it 100 times better than me so i stayed.
didnt realise that i was so inflexible because i do weights and walk everyday which does nothing for flexibility, they do the opposite.
havent been doing enough stretching between weights. so thats my goal in between sets of weights i will stretch. today im doing straight yoga which is going to kill me but im determined to look back after 6 months and be a lot more agile...fingers crossed.
aussie12 - sorry i referred to chrissy about the book, it was you thx. i live in coolbinia next to yokine.
trisha - foxtel is becoming such a rip off, more long ads, repeat after repeat and now most of the shows are being aired on normal tv. keep threatening myself to get rid of it. they need some competition.
kylie -you found out that you are metabolising tamoxifen...what does this mean? im trip neg so dont take tamoxifen.
alyson - aww thats no good having pain especially when trying to find a dress which is sometimes hard and a pain itself. hope you come good soon and get that lovely dress for the special day.
midnight - dont take their nonsense, you make sure you get what you deserve.
jenn- you need to get that nausea sorted, too hard to function. theres lots of new anti nausea's meds out now. not long and you are having a break, any plans?
chrissy - what about 20/20 cricket, that is so exciting, especially with a nice glass of red. lol - sounds like you achieved lots with your hydro yesterday & doing three lengths thats just brilliant and now you will increase and get fitter and fitter as your not puffing much it will come much easier if your consistent.
isnt it so rewarding when we achieve things, it really is such a big deal...well done?
lolalee - new boobies and france. wow thats something to look forward to.
signing off, hope everyone has a wonderful, not too hot a day and hopefully some of your goals are getting there.

Yea Girls, i thought i was going to see Dr Claire as that what it had on my card, but i did not see her, they off load us on to there side kicks and you dont get the same sort of treatment. i wanted to have a good talk to her. She is the Radiation ocno the one who perscribed the tamoxifen in the first place and i had to see her every week after a treatment. but now you dont see them, its the associates of her team and you dont find out til the time, nothing against them personally, they treat you like your an idiot, those registras. that one was quite patronising really. never mind i will find out whats happening to me soon. as i want abit of life back.

Man, everybody must be busy, or involving themselves in sport watching. hope you all having fun, may check in later. and see if anyone been in. otherwise have a good day lovely ladies.

Liv - thinking of you with your brain scan ((hug)). You amaze me how much exercise you do. I am so unfit and really slack about exercising, my doc is not impressed.
I havent got the result of my tamoxifen test yet, it is supposed to tell you if your body is processing it properly. Seems to be a bit controversial on these boards if it is accurate and accepted. Your thoughts Jenn?
Jenn - I didn't pay at pathologists so expect a bill in the mail. I hope your herceptin treats you ok. Nearly there - yay!
Foxtel is very frustrating. Repeats and ads. Even the news isn't any good. Grrr

Hello all, I haven't posted for a while and thougth I had better say hello. I am off to my first stint of yoga in a minute and looking forward to it. I am also walking for 20 minutes twice a day, now and feeling the benefits again. I also have an appointment this afternoon for an ultrasound on my leg to see how the DVT is going and I also have to have my blood test for the Onc next Tuesday. (Hoping that the tumor markers will be going down again.) I also have to see the doc to discuss the DVT and get another script for clexane. Yesterday, I saw the physiotherapist for my lymphodema, which has improved remarkably (all the exercises and arm massages are doing the trick). I also had my first appointment with the podiatrist, who cut off all my blisters from my feet and so my feet feel so much better. I just know that I have to wear cotton socks and closed in shoes when walking, no matter how hot the weather is.
Alyson, I am sorry that you are suffering from bone pain, I cannot imagine how painful that is. I have cared for some people who have suffered from this and I know that it is not nice at all. Good luck with your shopping and I hope that you can find a nice outfit.
Jenn, only one more Herceptin infusion to go..... Wahoo!
Chrissy, I hope that you are enjoying the tennis. I try to watch it when I can, but that is not very often.
Kylie, how is DD? She was in early labour a few days ago?
MIdnight, can you give the Breast care nurse feedback? I am on the public health system and quite often only see the Registrar,(the registrar always liaises with the Oncologist) but I can phone them any time of the day or night if I have any issues and they are very communicative and I know that they have your best interest at heart. The breast care nurse has given me her email address as well as her mobile phone number, and any queries that I have, I either email her, or text her.
Cheers
Mandy

well the specs i did for lab are all negitive, to see if there is bleeding in bowel. so thats one not to worry about. so need to check why i am so low in iron when i am on iron pills. if its the treatment i was on, they need to find out and the blood oxygen, heamaglobin. down as well. which is the one making me tired and there must be a reason, why it is low. I feel like hyperchondriact, but i did not know my blood tests would come back with almost zero iron in the blood cells. makes you wonder what the cause is. oh well i will go and get some dishes again. done.
0 -
Midnight - that is good news but hopefully they will find a cause. My Mum had low iron and was told to take it on an empty stomach so it absorbs more easily and also that she needed Vitamin C to absorb it.
Thanks Mandy - DD hasnt progressed with labour. She is tired, fed up and cranky but doing well.
My Dad is one of the people in hospital with the listeria outbreak from Jindi cheese. Luckily his wife got him to hospital as soon as he got shaky and they put him on antibiotics straight away. It was another day before they knew it was listeria and we are feeling very blessed that he is ok.
0 -
Midnight - isn't there a disease where your body can't absorb iron.
Kylie - we had some Jindi Brie over Xmas - we were fine.
0 -
They are doing a cbc blood test, complete blood test, 11th feb for, ferritin, checking the cells out for abnormal activity, enough of the red cells and platelets etc, so they are doing a test for anemia, i think there is disease for yr body for non obsorbing iron. and yes Kylie, i normally do before i eat in the morning and also take with orange juice. well i have an orange later on, to much acid first thing, make me sick. so i will just wait and see what they come up with. Glad yr Dad is ok Kylie

Midnight - I hope they get to the bottom of this.
0 -
kylie thx for the hugs- saw that listeria outbreak on the news, scary stuff. lucky your dad was onto it straight away.
mandy - please tell us about your yoga, were you as inflexible as me? looks easy but its not. i can do walking with weights for miles and weights at the gym but that damn yoga really challenged me and im determined not to give in and reckon 6 months should have a handle on it. well, be able to get up and down without moaning.
suzie- missed you and your lovely face.
its wine o'clock over here in the west, going to catch up with old work colleagues and see what mischief we can get up to.
xx

Thanks Liv - been really busy at work and exhausted every night - hopefully I can sleep a lot this weekend - the humidity is getting to me.

Hi Midnight, I hope that they find out why your iron is so low and your haemoglobin as well. No wonder you feel so tired and frustrated. The sooner they get to the bottom of this, the sooner they can fix you up and you can be on the mend.
Liv, yes, I am so inflexible and prefer walking for miles as well (except for my blistered feet which are slowly healing). I thought that I would just watch and do a couple of easy exercises, but as the class consisted only of women who suffer from breast cancer, and most were older than me. I am also overweight, but there are also bigger women there, and they only do what they can I did all the exercises to my limitatiion.. These women have improved so much with their mobility because of the yoga, and it has helped them with their arthritis etc. We only did the warrior pose and part of the Salute to the Sun pose. (I used to do Yoga about 30 years ago for about 5 years and so I remember some of the poses). The exercises yesterday focussed on the "core" or stomach and shoulders and neck. A gold coin donation is all that is required for the 90 minute session as that is funded by donations from the local community. Perhaps check with your local cancer support group or you local breast care nurse to see if something like this is in your area. I thoroughly enjoyed it yesterday and am looking forward to the next session.
Suzie, have a lovely rest this long weekend, and I hope the rain and floods ease quickly.
Cheers
Mandy x

Racy, nice to see you, how are you? was thinking about you the other day and thought, gosh Racy has not been to the boards for awhile and Oriam. hope you ok, is it Australia day today. Waitangi day coming up on the 6th of Feb, right in the middle of the week.much better at the begiining of the wek and you get a holiday. Anzac day the 25th is on a thursday. ah well. Jedbra have not seen you either, hope you ok.
mandy, thanks, yes i feel tired, headachey and wish i had the energy to keep going for longer, my eyes feel all buggy, like i have eye stys and i haven't, so i am going outside to do the greens for the animals. we have a new white pure bred lop eared rabbit, called Queenie. she is lovely, out side in her hutch and heidi my little dog, Shihtzu is bunny sitting, much to Bunny disgust. she is trying to find a new friend i think after loosing her Bj on the road, Young cat. i miss her around, she was so full of life, heidi seems to have come out of that stage of fretting and has a new lease of life, i dont think Bunny is too happy about being friendly to a dog. little or not. Gotta go and thanks for yr concern and support and that goes for all the ladies on here. hugs

Hi girls!! Well the tennis is almost over so I can get back to my normal routine......yay! I hear my DH saying.....lol. Poor darling has had very late dinners and I've been leaving the dishes for him to do......and getting away with it!......lol. Next week I'll have to make up for it and make all his favourite things. It's time to move off the chair and get my but looking round again instead of flat!!......lol.
Midnight really low iron levels will wipe you out.......no wonder you have been soooo fatigued! I sure hope the doc gets to the bottom of it soon so you can get back to normal......((((((hugs)))))
Mandy I sure hope that DVT is starting to dissipate, they are horrible things. Are we all talking inflexibility? Mmm I am like a board.....lol.....and not much hope of changing it.....boohoo! Because of knee replacement I can't squat or run......because of spinal damage due to a very bad car accident many years ago strength is an issue and shoulders that are arthritic and also have bursitis doesn't make them too mobile........do you think I need rubbing out and drawing again? I must admit the hydro is helping with all of that so I shall keep going. I so admire people who do yoga......I tried it a long time ago but found it waaaaay to difficult. Hope you manage to get the flexibility back that you once had.
Liv I wish I could run as I used to love it! Unfortunately this old body is falling apart so I do what I can and admire those who do what I can't.
Sue I'm with you on humidity wiping me out.......heat I can deal with (sort of) but humidity is the pits! Hope you manage to stay cool and get some rest this weekend.
Aly sure hope you have got your pain under control again.....there is nothing worse than aching bones as its a pain that just does not give up.
Hi to everyone else!......hope you are having a lovely Australia Day!!
Love n hugs to all. Chrissy0 -
Happy Australia Day!
Thanks for thinking of me Midnight, I have been wondering how you're doing with the testing for your iron problem.
Hi Mandy, so sorry to hear about those blisters. I like the sound of the Yoga classes. I am going to investigate what is available here.
I have been reading but not posting for a while. I have been keeping up with everyone's news.
All is well with me, I had an appointment with my Surgeon this week. He was really happy with everything. The infection has cleared up, the Seroma and the Haematoma didn't require any more syringing, but a big length of stitch came out where the infection had been. He said it's nothing to worry about the rest has dissolved away. I still have the Mondors Cords, but I think they are a bit smaller, and they aren't pulling like they were initially. I felt them the most when I was doing the arms right above the head stretch. Apparently they are nothing to worry about so I have decided not to worry about them!
This journey has sure changed my attitude to a lot of things, I can't believe my Surgery was 6 weeks ago. As crazy as it sounds, I have learned a lot about myself in the past couple of months, and changes have been made!
It may be my age, I think I am older than most of you girls, but this has put a different spin on the way I do things. I have always been a "need that yesterday!" kinda gal, now I feel that "Eh manana!" will do. I feel a subtle shift in a lot of the things I do.
I can't believe how fortunate I have been. I don't require any more treatment, having the Mx was the right choice for me. I have just made my next appointment with my Surgeon which will be in 6 months time, one week after my 60th Birthday!

Ariom I'm 61 so close to you in age. Good to hear that your infection has healed and everything is settling down. I think we all become a little more patient with life and are happy to sit and watch the grass grow if you know what I mean. Hearing those words 'you have breast cancer' sure are life changing in more ways than one.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Hi Chrissy!
I would never have picked you for in your 60's!
You are so right, those words are life changing, aren't they!
I wouldn't have been slowing down anytime soon if not for this, so I guess it hasn't all been bad. We moved here to get away from the rat race, but I hit the ground running and would have continued that way had this not stopped me in my tracks.
Take care Chrissy! Have a lovely Australia Day!
0 -
Thanks for the compliment Ariom.....lol. Yes the BC dx didn't slow me down for a long time the first time round but the stage IV one did and has continued to do so......what a pain in the neck......lol.......I still look at my half painted kitchen/dinning room and wish I had the strength and stamina to complete the job. Oh well, hopefully one of these days I'll have the energy to do it it and the leg strength to get up on the ladder again. That's what I'm working on........just to let you know, it may take some time.......lol
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
i just finished the greens, all ready to be fed to pigs etc, lol they had some problems with the ovens in the supermarket, some very pale looking buns with raisans in them, and some very burnt bottoms, looks like garlic loaves, that you put garlic in yrself, long loaves that you make the garlick bread with. they had burnt bums. can you believe they are putting easter buns out already, its only past xmas. no wonder the year goes so quick.
Oriam, glad you ok and yes the time does fly. six weeks from yr op, man. glad you happy with what was done,
lol Chrissy. you will have to make some fav food of DH. to make up for all his hard labour the past week or so. i am sure he does not mind. well i am going to have a nana nap and see how long b4 hubby rings and wakes me up. it always happens, i just doze off and he will ring. and if i turn the volume down, he gets worried and rushes home lol, he is areal sweetie though.

I undertand Chrissy, and feel for you. I can imagine it is difficult seeing what needs to be done and physically not being able to do it. That can be infuriating. Two Dx, that's really tough. You have a great attitude to it Chrissie.
Fortunately, this place was renovated before we moved in, so I don't have much to do around here, but I am being careful to not cause any problems with the healing process because I have to be able to get back into doing the hands on caring for Colin. We have been really lucky that we could get lots more hours of attendant care so I could take the time to let everything heal properly before I got back into the daily stuff.
We were really lucky that the Hospital organised home help, District Nurses and meals on wheels etc before I came home. I don't know what I would have done without all that help.

Hi Ariom, nice to hear from you, and I am glad that you are on the mend. Yes, I agree that this journey does change your attitude about a lot of things and I think you also learn alot about yourself.
I am the same age as Chrissy, as I turned 61 back in September, so we are al fairly close in ages. The yoga, was quite easy ( a lot easier than probably a normal yoga class, because it catered for us oldies with our excess baggage and our disabilitiie3s). My thighs and back are a little tight today, though, (but not sore) so I am chuffed about that.
Midnight, I hope you can have your nana nap in peace and I hope that you get better soon.

Hope everyone had a lovely day today!
We spent the day overlooking the water at some friends place. Very pleasant but oh so humid today!
Just changed the sheets on our bed which has a deep heavy matress and I know you will all understand what a big thing this was for me because.... For the first time in over a year I changed them by myself with no help from hubby or the kids!
Good to hear Ariom and Mandy are doing well, as well as everyone else!
We are off to the beach at Port Macquarie for a week from Monday. It's supposed to rain all week and there are flood warnings in place :-/ So sad for our first holiday since 2010-2011!
Jenn0 -
Oh Jenn, I admire you making the bed, because I can't lift our heavy mattress to do the fitted sheet. Well done.
I hope the rain subsides for your holiday as Port Madquarie is such a nice place, but enjoy the rest anyway. I hope you won't get flooded out.
