Karen, have a wonderful weekend!
regards Jenn0 -
Allyson, we are coming over to Auckland from 21-26 July (need to check on the reality of how my Mum is doing by herself up in Te Atatu.
Do you want to catch up for coffee one afternoon/morning that week? Are you near St Lukes or somewhere similar in Auckland we could meet or are you out of Auckland?
Jenn0 -
I've not checked in for some time and I was surprised how quiet things were...I hope this means everyone is enjoying themselves:-)
Gail, wonderful news!
Karen, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and that the weather is OK.
Chrissy, an overseas holiday to plan....I think that is almost as much fun as the wctual holiday...enjoy!0 -
Jenn just checking and yes would love to meet for coffee. PM me and yes I live very close to St Lukes and I know all the great cafes around here. So exciting.
Hope you have all had a great weekend. It has been cold here.
Big hugs

Hi girls! Yup been busy....sorry. Got so much to get done for this wedding and then there are medical issues......am having a colonoscopy and endoscopy done 18th and between now and then I have to reintroduce gluten into my diet.....the gastro guy wants to test me for Celiacs as my sister is Celiacs. I know I'm sensative to it but he wants to go the whole hog so to speak so I am expecting to spend a whole heap of time in the smallest room of the house.
Karen hope you have had a great weekend and ate as many chockies as humanly possible and washed them down with some great wine.....lol.
Tammy, I won't be planning much until after the wedding in September as my mind will be fully occupied until then but after that, watch out as the computer will be running hot with all my research......lol.
I got a message from a friends sister on Saturday to say that my friend had been admitted to our little hospital in the special care section. She was dxd with TN four years ago and stage IV two years ago. She had now lost the use of her legs, and her left arm and is blind in one eye......there is no more treatment for her so these are her last days, weeks, months. I will spend as much time as possible with her just chatting as her mind is still as sharp as ever. Her pain is well managed and the staff is wonderful......we are allowed to be there any time day or night.....there are no retrictions. It is so sad but at least she did take the time with the help of her older sister to do her bucket list trip......she has no regrets.
Well it's late and I'm actually tired so I'll say bye for noew and hope that you have all had a great weekend and are feeling great.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, I so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope you have many lovely hours with her. xoxo
Not much news from this end, all is going well, just counting down the weeks to my new kitchen (4!) and busy with life.
Hope everyone else is going well.

Chrissy....what a sad thing to be happening to your friend, a bit too close to home! (((Hugs)))
I had a lovely weekend in Byron Bay.....beautiful sunny friday & Saturday, rain & wind Sunday!
So we decided to leave yesterday & spend the last night in Brisbane.....which is just as well coz it took us so long to get here due to the weather we would have missed the place if we did it this morning!
Drank too much, ate too much but laughed & laughed So off to the airport shortly, looking forward to seeing my family this evening.
Very quiet on here so hope everyone is ok.....:)

I haven't logged in for a while as I have been busy running around with my elderly mother taking her to specialist appointments, doctor appointments, hospital appointments and scans. She will have her second cataract operation today, so after this there will only be one other appointment in a fortnight to get her medical clearance for driving (NOT???). The specialist told mum that she has to go to a nursing home because she lives on her own and she has had a couple of falls. With her condition, her falls will increase and she will not be able to walk soon. (Mum has Cortico Basal Syndrome, which looks a bit similar to Parkinsons). Mum refuses and does not understand that she will probably break a bone soon and be hospitalised and then she will not be able to go home. Mum refuses to live with either my brother who is prepared to move in with her or with me as she does not want to be a burden to the familey (HELLLO, Mum, we love you). Tomorrow I will have my 2 year old grand daughter until Friday as my son is moving house and it is just too difficult with a 6 month old baby and 2 year old toddler.
My news just gets better and better (I am waiting for the bubble to burst though but am enjoying life at the moment). I told my oncologist that I had to miss our 3 week appointment which is today due to my commitments and he wasnt happy but he said OK as long as my GP does my blood test. Well, she did a full blood test and the results are amazing. I know that my vitamin D level is low but that is slowly climbing. My cholesteral, sugar, Iron are brilliant. My liver function, kidneys, red blood cells, white blood cells etc, etc are spot on. She queried that I should have mets in my liver (lol). We both had a giggle. So I am on top of the world at the moment.

Thank girls for your thoughts, much appreciated.
Karen it sure sounds like providence was telling to get to Brisbane last night! So glad you didn't miss your flight. Your weekend sound like it was a whole lot of fun.
Mandy that is such good news on your bloods, here's hoping the good news just keeps on coming for you. Oh yes, I hear you on the difficult parent.......but I can understand how she feels.......my DDs keep telling me that they will look after me when the time comes and they won't let me go to care but I keep telling them that they have their own lives to live and it would be much easier on them just to visit. I get the 'but we love you mum' every time it's mentioned and I tell them it's because I love them that I don't want to do it. Maybe your mum is saying the same?
DD has finally decided on the color of her train and now I just have to do two samples of the patterns for her to choose. Here's hoping she likes one of them.......lol.
Love n hug girls! Chrissy0 -
Hi girls I have been in Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast for family birthdays hope you are all well love Delvzy

Mandy.....you are a very caring daughter & doing everything you can for your mum I do agree with Chrissy though, your mum is loving you right back by saying she doesn't want to be a burden.....I too have said the same to my children & even hubby as I can't imagine what it would be like for him if I passed in our bed
Awesome news about your blood results & you should be feeling on top of the world.....& long may it last!!
Chrissy.....your talents never cease to amaze me Can't wait to see pics of the gorgeous bride when the day finally arrives......
Have slept late this morning (9.00 am, my first night back in my own bed) but I had a restless night.....I'm at the end of my 14 day Xeloda cycle & think that has something to do with it, but it's nice to be home & on my own!! Love my sister & besties but being around people 24/7 is quite draining as you are constantly considering everyone's else's needs.....now I can be selfish & just think of me....lol
Hugs to all....((hugs))) & have a great day, off to get all the unpacking & washing done!!
Karen xxx0 -
Sue......I have started reading the book you recommended, The Emotionally Absent Mother & have decided my other is off the Richter scale.....lol
Hope you're well.
Karen xx0 -
Kazzie - it's called "Will I ever be good enough" or is that your funny name for it
0 -
Sue, I have a different one.....it's called 'The Emotionally Absent Mother,..A Guide to Self Healing'.
I thought I got the one you recommended.....damn chemo brain!!
Not to worry, it's interesting reading & I can try the other one next.
The biggest thing I guess is to know our mothers will not change & we just have to learn to deal with it......
Karen x0 -
Kazzie - too true.

Hi all
Friday tomorrow, yeah I can't wait for the weekend.
It's been quiet on hear lately, hope that means that everone has been busy doing lots of exciting stuff. I haven't been doing anything interesting lately, I've got a boring life.
I am waiting for my next surgery when I will get my implant put in as the expander has done it's job and my skin has stretched without much pain.
Hope that everyone is well
0 -
Hi ya Aus! When is your next surgery? I can't remember if you told us or not.....sorry, my memory does fail me on occasion as I try to cram waaaaay too much into it.......lol.
Getting set and ready for the invasion of my 14yo GS.....lol. I pick him up from his mum on Monday after my six month check with my specialist........got a few things on the discuss list for him this time and just generally busy.
I've still got loads to do for the wedding and I've still got to decide what I will be wearing......mmmmm I hate shopping so that could be a problem .......maybe I'll just have to make something for myself and be done with it........lol.
Hoping you are all staying warm and cosy as winter really gets going........my fire is being lit every day now so the house is toasty......
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Hello all
My life hasn't been that interesting lately lol - just more of the same, work, relaxing settling into city life :-)
Where is Midnight/Annette? Where are you sweetie? We haven't heard from you for a long time, is everything ok with you?

Hi girls
Maybe everyone is just living a quiet/boring life....hence the quiet website!!
Chrissy....I hope all goes well with your specialist appointment & you get all the answers you want. I'm sure your time with your GS will be much fun....albeit tiring....:)
Aussie....let us know when your surgery is so we can all send hugs
Trish....I've decided boring is good!! Who needs all the drama in life? Boring is relaxing & peaceful....enjoy
It is my 34th wedding anniversary tomorrow (I got married when I was 18!!!!) & we are going to a place called The Loose Box.....unless you live in Perth you would never have heard of it. It's a very pretty place a little bit out of the city with cute, romantic little cottages to stay in & a restaurant with a degustation menu & owned by one of the top chefs. I have never been but have heard nothing but good reports & it's meant to be very romantic (pity I've lost my mojo....lol)!!!
My biggest issue at the moment is deciding what to wear.....lol
Well, off to my docs appointment for my monthly Xgeva injection & I do hope everyone is ok & that we all have a lovely weekend.
Karen xxxx0 -
Hello everyone!
I have been keeping up with this thread, and enjoy reading what you are all doing here in Australia. I have missed seeing posts from Annette too.
I can't believe it, but I am almost at my first follow up appointment. I can't believe it has been almost 7 months since my Mx, and next week I'll be 60!
Such a lot has happened in the past year. I did the big move too, Trish, but mine was to the country, from the city. I love it so much, I don't know why we didn't do it earlier.
I have some of my closest girlfriends coming to stay for my Birthday, and then a week later my Daughter will be here for a week.
Kazzie, I have read with interest about your travels, and love the sound of the the Anniversary Outing! Congratulations on the 34 years! I hope you have a divine time!
Chrissy, you are such a dynamo. I don't know how you do it all! I love your handywork, and think that the Wedding Dress will be stunning, with so much love poured into its creation.
Hi to Delvsy, suzieq, mandymoo, jenn, Aussie, and anyone else I may have missed...Take care!

Hi all. Thank God It's Friday!
Been so busy at work, and Rach was not well this week. We did manage to get out to the movies on Wednesday night to see Despicable Me 2. It was so funny we were all laughing out loud.
Our oldest made her way from England to Paris this week. It has been so nice seeing her photos. Definitely jealous! She's now off on her 22 day Contiki trip so we probably won't be hearing much from her.
I'm trying to get more exercise. Going for walks at lunch time etc. Feeling much healthier but no weight lost and I am still very challenged on sleep. My body/brain just does not let me sleep through the night. I downloaded an app on my phone that I turn on each night and it is recording my sleeping and waking times. I'm planning on taking it to my dr at some point.
When I refilled my Tamoxifen script a couple of weeks ago they were out of stock of my usual brand so I had to get a different brand. I've been achier in the ankles and been getting periods of blurriness in my eyes.
Had my 6 week follow up with my PS this week after my reconstruction revision surgery. All healing well and I've already been sent the hospital papers for my nipple/areola reconstruction scheduled for 5th November.
I have an appt scheduled with my new onc in a couple of weeks. First "real" appointment with him after our initial intro appt.

Hi ya goils! Yup, busy here.....lol...... Today I removed the silicone seal from the back of my sink, cleansed the area and replaced it with nice clean new silicon........it's a job that's needed doing for quite some time as the mould had discoloured what was there. I also replaced my tap spout as I won an on sink filtering system but my previous spout was so old it was impossible to attatch the filter converter to it. Anyway, it was a jolly good excuse to put in a new one and I must admit that it looks so much better. Now I just need to replace the taps and the tap bodies as they leaked when I tried the filter out.......ho hum, I guess they are as old as Methuselah as well so that will be a job for next week as I think I'll have to get the taps I want from the city.......yes, I do plumbing as well.......lol......I was always the one fixing and building things around our house and I really miss not being able to do it.
On the wedding front, I got another twelve metres of tulle cut for the chair decorations today so I'm well on my way of getting the sixty metres done and folded and stored ready for the day.......a little bit each day as its really hard on my back........tonight, more crocheting.
Moirai the first twelve months seem to both go quickly and crawl but its really good when you can say 'last year'. Hope your check up goes well for you.
Jenn I can't wait to see 'Despicable Me 2' as I loved the first one. What was that app you down loaded for your sleep interruptions? It sounds like exactly what I need so I can get a handle on just what my sleep pattern is as I know sometimes I wake at least a dozen time and that is what I can remember........lord knows how many other times I wake but don't remember.
Sounds like your DD is having a ball on her overseas trip.......good for her and what great memories she is creating for herself.
Well I think I'll go make a cup of tea and then settle down to some serious crocheting......lol.
Have a great evening all.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Hi all
Chrissy my next surgery might not be for a couple of months yet, but since last time the hospital rang me up the day before they wanted me in for surgery it could be any time.
I've been wondering where Annette has been too, she's always got something interesting to say, hope that she's all right.
Have a good weekend all

Yay Delvzy! How are you doing? Hope you are okay as we haven't seen you for a while.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
hi everyone! just an update im nearing my two year diagnosis anniversary. Im having mixed feelings about it im happy ive got through this first danger period according to the doctors but im well aware that many other ladies had their cancer recurr or spread within the first two years and after so im hoping my luck holds out and im not one of the unlucky ones.. im going finally to the breast reconstruction clinic at the hospital on the day after my anniversary so that will be bittersweet in a way. I am excited to hopefully get a date for surgery though.
Had a good meeting with a temp agency the other day and am registered on their database for any temp work in admin that comes up that matches my skill set but she did say the environment is a bit slow for temps at the moment but hopefully it will pick up so its just a case of hoping one of their clients wants someone with my skill set and i get a call for an assignment!

Hello girls
Another lovely relaxing weekend, it's been so nice to have a few weekends to myself with no photography (well just a little paperwork for the business lol).
Ariom - great to see you again! Happy birthday for this week! What day is it? I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with your friends and family. The time does seem to go quick in some ways from surgery and dx doesn't it. I'll be able to say three years from dx in a few months. What a rollercoaster time that's been. The main thing is we are doing well :-)
Melp - great to see you again too! I hope someone calls you for work really soon, keeping everything crossed for you. Temping is a great way to get back into the workforce.
Kazzie - loved your pics from your anniversary - looks like you had a lovely time with your DH xoxo
Chrissy - you will remember to get some rest in your busy schedule somewhere - wont you!!?? I get tired just reading everything you do!
Jenn - don't want to worry you, but my last bride met her fiance on a Contiki trip lol
Have a great day everyone!
Trish
