Hi Trish, lol, your weather?  umm are you living in the antartic....but hang on...this is quite a weird system. Last time I looked it did look like it hit Oz first. Its weird coz its actaully doing a big circuit and coming in from the west where we are, but its hooking around from the artic and hitting OZ on the way...if that all make sense.

Meanwhile no fire yet...sun is shining and cuz it's low in the sky it streams right in and warms things up. Nice when youve got big windows.

    Hi Musical

I thought our weather got to you eventually like the weather from Western Australia makes its way east accross the country to us.  That it just kept on going east, hitting NZ eventually lol.  Mind you I'm not a meteorologist, and at the moment, yes it does feel like we are living in the antarctic!! lol

Hi Trish, if you see on the weather maps, they have a little time where they display the isobars which show wind directions fronts etc..and the Tazzy can sure offer up some strange behaviour, but no we dont get Perth weather here (unfortunately). This system shows the fridge door wide open (or should I say freezer lol) and originates from the antartic. It doesnt usually hook around this way going high up in the Taz and then in from the west and then we get snow. VERY Weird.  They reckon Auckland might get some on the hills. Thats pretty weird.

Off to get another coffee. Yum.

Aussie.....I would love to know what your Perth forum is called so I can have a look. If you don't want to put it on here you could PM me....thanks in advance.

Beautiful sunny weather here in Perth, cold nights though! I struggle to keep warm these days though.......my sister always says its coz I'm too skinny...lol. I'm not!! I think maybe being ill does that to you, even with the heater on or snuggled in bed I can still feel freezing......hubby always comments on how cold I feel! Am I weird??

Alison....how you coping now the visitors have gone? I bet you're enjoying having your house back & being able to get on with things....

I'm off to Byron Bay next Thursday for 5 days with my sister to catch up with some girlfriends........really looking forward to it as I've still been feeling a bit down & hoping its the tonic I need to get me back on track.....:)

    Well, stay warm girls.

I am not sure about a nurse on our site, maybe on caregivers and supporters. I also have had very different opinions from other  BCers about medical staff even at my own centre. I always appreciate updates and info but I do like that everyone on here 'gets me' and I can ask questions without really wanting an answer just a virtual hug. But if everyone else is happy I will go happily with the flow.

Edited to add: I have been in a small town with a small cancer centre. My nurses would know who I am from my stats even without my name and I would feel inhibited in what I could say about my treatment and my family. I do realise anyone can read on here though.

    Hi all!

DD1 had her follow up appointment with the specialist yesterday.......we are still none the wiser.  He did another ultra sound as well as another biopsy and we'll get answers for that a bit later today.  The lumps had not changed in the last two months so he is being ultra cautious because of me......(he's also my doc).  Depending on the biopsy results, it's another wait for two months or organize a surgery day.   Gosh I hate waiting!!!!!   especially because it's my daughter.

He told my DD that all things in medicine are not cut and dried.....sometimes test say all is good when they are not and vice versa but we all know that.  I'm just glad he is being very careful.

Well must get back to my 'doings' lol or I will never be done.

    Take care, stay warm.

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

The message from the LE physio yesterday was specifically for women who don't already have LE so seems to agree with what you wrote above? She said that for those women it was better to fly without compression, than with compression garments that might be out of date in terms of size or compression rate ie: wearing a too tight sleeve if you don't have LE could actually cause LE.

I don't have LE and after reading about the risks I take the usual precautions but had already determined that the risk of getting LE from one airplane flight maybe once every two years is not worth the price of getting fitted for garments. For me I will just make sure I keep well hydrated and keep moving on flights.

Apart from that, i am not an expert so can only relate what an expert said.

Just got a call from DD1 re biopsy.......all good so it's another two month wait. I did tell her that next time she sees him to ask if he will remove them as this wait check, wait check crap is doing my head in so I know what her head might feel like.  Rather have them removed and be done with it.

On the LE question and flying.  When I went to the USA in 2011 I had mild LE but I didn't use a sleeve.......I had no problems with swelling and it didn't make my LE worse.  A sleeve is almost useless for me as my LE is more under the arm on the trunk so a sleeve does not help there.   I do now wear a sleeve when flying only if I'm having a flare or in very hot weather.

    That's just my personal experience.

Midnight great results. And Chrissy, pleased daughter checked out but think they should be removed.

We have had a remarkable storm, thunder, lightening and hail. And oh is it cold! Arthritis not liking the cold and wet.

Karen, visitors go tomorrow and sister is going away for a week from Sunday which will be wonderful. Hopefullly will finish one appraissal next week as well as starting another one. And might just get some sewing done as well.

I flew originally without a sleeve soon after MX but developed LE during chemo so have worn sleeve on all long flights and often when I am travelling by car. Have mod LE in arm and really bad under arm which is difficult to compress. I think you do what is best for you.

    Big hugs.

    Hi all

Karen the website is called www.breastcancerclick.com.au , it's a Perth based site. Curtin University set the site up as a bit of an experiment. Every Wednesday night we have live chat, it's good and there are ladies from all over Australia and overseas. The Nurse works at RPH, I went in and met her to talk about my reconstruction, it was great to meet her.

Everyone's welcome to check out the site if they want.

Hi all, I have had some wonderful news. I have been on abraxane and the onc told me last week the cancer in my spine in multiple areas is shrinking and the bones are re growing! Also all the fluid around lung has gone which shows cancer in mediastinal lymph nodes is inactive. Tumor markers are still the same. I will continue with chemo till nd of July and have another ct scan to see how I m traveling. Am very happy nd generally great except for hair loss. I hope you are all doing well or yet to receive good news also. Gosh I was planning my funeral before Christmas, I was so ill using a walking frame and breathless, it's so wonderful to think I may have sn extended lifespan. Yay! Love Gail

Gail that's fantastic news to hear! It's so good to hear news like this - it lifts us all.

Karen - sweetie hope you are doing well and your liver behaves itself.  Enjoy your trip this week and try to destress :-) I know easier said than done, but remember it will make memories and that's a good thing to have.  When I was going through chemo, one of the things that helped me a bit when I was feeling really, reall sick, was to remember all the good holidays DH and I had been on.  Sort of drifted away to different places - it was nice to have those memories to fall back on when things were bad.  Helped pass the time too lol.

Chrissy - good news from you too, hope the stuff from your naturopath keeps you feeling energised.  When you've finished your place, mine is waiting lol.

Well we are experiencing some wild weather here at the moment.  The east coast low that's sitting of the NSW coast is causing havoc.  Here in Canberra we are only getting the edges of it, but that's bad enough.  Torrential rain and winds are making trying to do anything outside of indoors miserable - and all I'm doing is going from a building to the car!  I can't imagine what it's like on the coast directly in the firing line of this weather.  Yesterday we reached a top of only 8 degrees!  At least everything is heated so comfortable indoors :-)

    Trish

    Morning all,

At least it is a little warmer here today. It has been really cold since last Thursday when the country was hit by a polar blast.

Do hope everyone is having a good day.

Chrissy when you are finished cleaning over there, and at Trisha's you could come here. I really must do some house work the housework fairy hasn't even bothered lately!!!

    Hugs for all.

Lol ......yeah, the housework fairy has been a bit slack but I'm slowly beating her into submission and thigs are starting to look and smell good asgain......lol.....oh by the way, cleaning your house would be a  really good excuse to visit.

Can you believe it?!  DH has started the process to get his passport!  I'm agog!!!  I didn't think it would ever happen but it seems he wants to take me OS so we can 'do' England, Ireland, Scottland, France and Italy with a day or two in Holland.  I am amazed!  as trying to get that crab out of his shell (home) is like pulling hens teeth, impossible......he really has blown me away.  Apparently he has been saving for years without me knowing and he feel he now has enough to do the trip......yipee!!!  Now I have the job of doing all the planning but that's okay as it won't happen until next year.

Must go whip that fairy again!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy
