Just home from scan which went well. There is a lot of criticism of our health system but I
can't complain. Had scan, radiologist looked at it and came and told me
there was nothing to worry about. Lots of nodules on thyroid and vocal
cords but all looked fine but will need to keep a check on things. With
nodules maybe need to see endocrinologist to check thyroid function. It
seems that once you have had cancer you get some special treatment.

I have tried to cut my pain meds down but it didn't work -thought if I cut them out they then might work better. I know crazy logic extremely fuzzy.  I wonder so many of us have so much pain for which a reason cannot be found? I know I felt so much better when the pain doc told me my pain was very real and explained why it was happening. If yuo have had trauma then nerve systems can get confused and react oddly. He also said the worst time for trauma and people later getting fibromyalgia was early teens but any trauma can cause it. AND cancer is considered a trauma.

    Big hugs to all.

the  only thing i have with our system down here, is lack of communication and they  have between them selves, as  that whats the radiotherapy was  complaining about, she id the head doc and  nobody passed any letter on to her, that i even was having an op. she is the one head of the tamoxifen side of things and needs to know incase they need to change it and the thyriod doc was upset because  they never looked into whether i needed to have thyroid increased to cope with the tamoxifen, Hubby says its a power thing with themselves and the breast cancer nurse would not return my calls, so i gave up reporting it to them and went thru my  GP doc and even got fobbed off there, til  thyroid doc got  into it, its now ok, apart from from  them not telling her about my operation next week. i have  on a whole been very lucky with the waits that have not been too long for procedures. apart from the colonoscopy, they been  easy to tolerate. i hear alot of people talking about palmerston north medical system and how bad it is,  well the a&e dept is, but they lifted their game too i hear..

Glad things are ok with you Alyson.

have you met him yet Chrissy? Russel Crow?

    Hi all

Chrissy I saw on the news today about Russel Crowe being in Burra and thought of you.

My sister's and I got together the other night to talk about Mum and Dad and what needs to be done regarding Mum's dementia. Mum really can't be left by herself anymore as she doesn't do anything for herself. Soon she will be getting assessed at home and we will find out what Government assistance they can get. Hopefully we can sort everything out soon.

Chrissy - lucky you! Hope you can get to meet him while he's there.

Aly - what a lovely picture, those blossoms are gorgeous Smile

Pain's a bit better today. I picked up my X-ray results yesterday and the report said it showed mild constipation!  Would you believe after two solid months of diarrhea I now have mild constipation??!!  Doesn't make sense as I had "been" in the morning before going for the X-ray (in fact there hasn't been a day yet where I haven't "been" lol) while the diarrhea has settled down, I wouldn't describe myself as being constipated at all.

X-ray also showed that I have a subchondral cyst in my left hip (opposite side to the pain), which isn't anything to be worried about, but is associated with the arthritis in that hip.

I'm beginning to wonder if I have an irritated appendix.  My ex husband had something similar (about 30 years ago and I'd forgotten about it).  He'd get really bad pain that would last a minute or couple of minutes, then go away for days or weeks, then come back.  They tested him for everything and eventually decided to take his appendix out to be safe, and it had fecal matter caught in it.  A friend was telling me about a friend of hers who had something similar yesterday.  I'll ask the dr next time I see her.

    Trish

Trish it is possible to be constipated while having diarrhea........sounds weird I know but it happens.  Your thoughts on the appendix do make a whole heap of sense and well worth talking to your doc about.   Sometimes it the simple things that are the cause/relief of thing that bother us but we are all too used to looking for the worse scenario before looking at what is in front of our faces.

Aly that tree look great next to the NZ shrub.......the combo just goes.  When do you get the thyroid function test done?   Sure hope its soon.

Annette, good luck with your pre visit to the hospital!

Mandy, how is your face painting course going?

Tammy, thanks for you hugs, they are always appreciated.

Just sitting....obviously.....lol......but I do need to go put on the silverside that I will be doing for tea otherwise it will not be cooked.

    Catch you all later!

chrissy and tammy, i lve looking at the clouds and  seeing faces or un-usual shapes, my  mum couldn't, eventually she would after alot of explaining. kool photos girls. it does look like a jelly fish Tammy and yours looks like a dragon as you say Chrissy, legs out to the side.

Question Girls. is  primary bone cancer more severe, not so much in pain side of things, but life expectancy, just that you get people with primary bone cancer with dim outlooks and  those like you chrissy who have bone mets and live for a long time like that.to which i am thankful for, i was just reading a true story about a young lady who hurt her leg and they ended up finding a tumour on the bone and  it went thru her, one bone to the other. spine, skull and now they cant do a thing for her, very sad, brought tears to my eyes as shehas a little girl. and in half the expected time they gave her. i hear of women living for years with bone mets. so is it worse bone cancer as a primary cancer.

well i am off to a small holders farm auction today, it will be hot, i get so sore walking around and so i hope i can find a seat somewhere and hubby too that we can pearch on. maybe somebody will sell one lol

Annette some primary bone cancers can be very, very aggressive and hard to control.  Bone mets can also be aggressive if your primary breast cancer was very aggressive but it is treated very differently to primary bone.  Bone mets are really an extension of the breast cancer and as such can be slowed and controlled by breast cancer meds.  Yes I know that BC uses some of the same chemos but meds like the AI's come into play.   You will find that women who are triple negative don't have as good an outlook as I do for instance as I can use the AI's where as they can only use chemo which is way harsher on the whole system.   This is such an in depth question it's hard to explain fully unless I take up a while page.

I really feel bad for that young woman........may she be granted as long as possible on this earth.

Tammy that is a gorgeous view!  Is that your cabin?  I think I could wake up to that very happily.......lol.

Just another relaxing day happening here........do I ever do anything else?.......well sometimes.........lol.

    Have a great weekend all!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

Alyson where is that, what a yummy place.  all the pics are lovely. i just come home from small holders farm sale, i sat and watched while the boys  spent the money, Bil is taking truck out to get the rest of stuff, they brought a tractor rake,Singing. and these big boxes that are worm farm boxes, but they are going to put bird netting underneath lids and make  brooding  boxes for the baby chicks, ( pheasants) that come out if incubator, we were going to take some today, but had be there early. and neither of us could be bothered and we have to get pig scraps at nine, too much running around, too far out too. once we  start selling them, it is big money, lots of buyers around, once you find out with advertsing. trade me. good place to begin with. the young chap we brought it from,  made a mint, but is now working and has not got time and lost interest in it, teenage boys  want to be with their mates, not home  feeding animals. but he did very well while he was doing it. they lay 20 ro 25 eggs a day. we have four incubators, self turning and emus eggs as well, and sixty chicks. so these big boxes will help. they are building a huge avairy from smaller avairys as add ons, and enlarging it. so the birds have plenty of room to fly.the smaller avairys will be little nesting places too., good having  a farm helper and he is so good. cambodian guy, a lovely person and very willing to do anything..

That has a really original name - either Rocks Rd or Beach Rd. I haven't lived there since I went to university. I did go home for holidays and worked at Whitcouls. Still have a brother who lives there out at Stoke. However I love the place and sometimes we think about going back but these days it is medical care that we wouldn't have but I always feel very much at peace there especially on the beach.

Spent a lot of time at the little wildlife park as a child. They had otters and we would go and watch them being fed.

The lookout is up on Princess Drive and from there you can see right out over Tasman Bay. do have photos from up there but they are on the main computer.

Alyson, hubby said, the wild life park was called nature land and heasked me to ask you, do you remember RICKY, the little brain damaged monkey, he was special needs and was looked after like a baby most of his life like that. he was attacked by another family member monkey and almost died, but he lived a long time, now he is passed on.  a wild life park in christchurch brought that wild life park, forgotten who he said it was. my memory, i did not even have chemo.hubby use to looke after the other monkeys.  he brought a bird back from there and we still have him, a cockateil, he  called him mate. and he  certainly knows his name, talks abit, not that clear though, not like our ring neck, the little budgie next to mate talks to, lol can;t get a word in if the three are going together.  how  bad is that, i cant even remember her name at the moment. it will come, i talk to her every day.

i had a dream the other night i had to deliver a  speach, about memory in front  of thosands of people and it was like an eden park stadium full and i froze solid, i could not even remember my own name, the first and  the last thing i said, i have  to go loo and rushed off and i woke up and had to go pea. lol, my sister was there and i think she did the speach, it ws her idea in the first place lol. that i was doing it.. still cant remember birds name. oh well, yes i do now  Petal.  there you go. Petal. oh i am nuts. lol

Waiting on news of DB who has had heart attack - he lives in Brisbane.
He has had a really bad heart since having endocarditis when he was 28.
He got it from an infected scratch when he was on a trip to the north of
Queensland. He has had valve replacements and other heart ops in the past so it is rather worrying.

Hope you are all having a great holiday. It is one here as well - well for Auckland Province it is Anniversary Day.

Midnight, you do make me laugh with your stories. Tell your DH I know about Ricky but he was after the time I knew Nature Land well. When is your op?
