Chrissy, thank you, i really appreciate what you telling me and i will definately  go and see what i need to do as i have not got a clue how to combinate foods. i will do this  fasting bloods and go and make an appointment with Donna,as the lab is next door to them, (she is the diabetic nurse,). its in arcade, alsowith  chemist)  on wedneday, she said, it will take about three days following the test, so i will  next monday as we have waitangi day thursday, so i will go and make appointment to see her and ask for the necessary referals for my situtation reg food. and hopefully my other results to bone scan will be there to and operation as well. I dont mind abit you telling me this as i know you are concerened and you are all my friends and i adore all of you. I was hoping the gym would help abit too.

I was reading the stories of Carroll oconnor, Archie, all in the family and a heart attack is what caused him to die, complicated by diabetes.  he was 76 and edith was 90, she only died last year, arch died in 2001.  i love that programme, i love edith. she is cute. and lovely and so honest, always to do the right things when archie wants to bend the rules. his facial expresions are priceless. and i was watchingan interviewe of them both with  Donny and marei osmond, Carroll oconnor is such a good looking man even being elderly, lovely smile and so  jean stapleton.  one tv family i enjoy watching.

Annette I'm glad you are going to make that appointment as I know it will make a difference to how you feel.  When dealing with diabetes it is so important to get the right advice right at the very beginning so your life can be as long or as near to as possible.  My mum died last year and she was a month shy of 86......she had been a diabetic for 35 years with no internal organ problem other than age.  She was always so very careful both with her insulin injections and her diet. Balancing them is what you need to do.  Off get off my soap box now.......lol

Yes Archie Bunker really was one for the books and Carol O'Connor a very good actor.  Jean Stapleton in her young years was a true beauty.

I'll add my 2 cents worth Annette and Chrissy lol.

While I'm not a diabetic, we have one that works here.  She has been one pretty much all her life - and has to inject herself daily.  She says that the only vegies that are "good" are the green salad vegies - like lettuce etc.  You can basically eat all you want of those.  Berries are ok, but any food that has a high GI index - like bananas, potato, pumpkin, bread (even brown and wholemeal) have to be severely limited. Apples are not great, but most citrus fruits are ok.

So - just reinforcing what Chrissy is saying - it's really important that you know exactly what sorts of food you have to limit or even cut out and which ones are ok.  Just cutting out butter with your bread isn't going to help - as it's the bread (even the wholegrain or brown bread) that's the villain.

Make sure your nurse gives you a complete list of the foods you have to avoid, and what you can eat with something else.

Ok - my 2 cents worth over lol.

Still hot here, but we are expecting a cool, cool change early tomorrow morning.  So much so that the overnight temp on Wednesday night is expected to only be 8 degrees!!  Can you believe it??!!

Hi all just a query. Have been having huge lower back pain ever since I
got fitted for my lymphadema sleeve about a month ago. Lymphadema lady
seems to think I've got lower back spasms and some soft tissue damage in
the same area. I'm guessing it may be because I'm putting more pressure
on my right side because left side has the lymphadema. Am scared is
pain is related to my cancer history. Am getting a ct scan on it so the
doctor can rule out anything real bad but I'm still scared even though
she doesn't think it's cancer related. Been using deep heat and pain
medication which is working ok so far to quell the pain. Im hoping its just related to the tamoxifen and possibly some arthritic pain.

Im nearly 3 years post diagnosis so Im praying its nothing.

Melp, yes, even though they try to reassure us it is a worrying time when we have these types of tests....take comfort that you are getting the best care by getting this investigated just to make sure....(((hugs)))

Melp - I have terrible back pain and spasms now. It moves around from lower to upper back and I have also had it checked and the docs all say there's no problem. Am blaming it on the Tamoxifen :-(

hey girls, please keep your fingers crossed, i have been summons to the hospital to see Dr Claire, radio therapy doctor. i only just found the letter in mail as i was going out with hubby and she wants to see me today, she said  if there was nothing, she nothing would see me next year. so hope its only minor. catch you later.

P/s ok i am back. the bone scan was ok, showed lots of artheritis, and wear and tear in joints, but the main reason she wanted to see me was they they found significant swelling in the womb lining so from tonight, no more tamoxifen. they have done blood tests  to see if i am in the menopause, to which i may go and find out whether it would be beneficail to have a total removal of that area, she did not pahui it, she said that is a thought, but i need to speak with the gyny about that. it may be that the way to go. she is getting in touch with me when blood tests.come thru. catch yas later

    good news Annette

I'm in the first stages of prep for my colonoscopy on Friday. I think I've set a new record ... I took the first powder tonight, and was supposed to have a bowel movement in 3 hours. It took just over 2 minutes!! And still going. Tomorrow I have to take the same one again at 6.30pm and then the truly horrible one (2litrs with) between 8 and 10pm. There's nothing left now but the water I'm drinking going straight through.

What on earth will be left tomorrow after a day of liquids only??!! I've stocked up on Bepanthen and baby whipes, but guess what I forgot to get more of? Yep, the loo pPer lol

It's going to be a long day tomorrow I think.

Trish that prep is waaaay more than I had when I had mine........I guess different docs give different stuff that does the same thing....weird!  Anyway good luck for your colonoscopy on Friday!  Here's hoping it comes back all clear.

Heading to the city tomorrow for my follow up appointment with the ENT. I'm still partially deaf and in particular in a crowd, I can't hear a thing except if you are actually in my face.  It will be interesting to see what she says.

I get to cuddle my grand puppy as well as a treat for being a good girl.......lol......I'm really looking forward to meeting her!

Karen, how are you doing and what was the scan of your grand baby like?  I bet you were beside yourself with excitement to see it.  Hope your chemo is doing its job without too many SEs.

    Kate?  How are you?

Melp, I sure hope that pain gets resolved soon.

    Jenn how are you doing?

Oh my gosh, how are you all doing?  Hope you are all as well as you can be.

I've had a horrible day. Took the first part last night, and woke up this morning feeling hungry, had some jelly and all ok. About 10.30 this morning started to feel very unwell, still spending most of my time on the loo.

Started throwing up at 12.30. Rang the nurse who's been lovely. Seems since the last time my body has developed an intolerance to the Picolax. So don't have to take the second round, and only half of the colonlitely now.

I'm out of bed now, and feeling a lot better, hope the I can tolerate the next bit ok.

Wonder why I seem to develop these intolerances, it's happened with dyes used in scans too.

Keep your fingers crossed I get through this next stage. I haven't felt that bad since Taxotere :-(

That prep seemed a little over the top in comparison to most Trish... Glad you phoned them about it.

Had my first follow-up at the PS office today where they took the big dressings off. Even with stitches still in and healing still happening these nipples look so "normal" it's amazing. So far so good and now I am just putting Betadine and covering with cotton swabs until Monday when I go back and get the stitches out. Will find out how long I have to wait for the tatoos then too.

nope, just threw up the few sips I had of the second prep. Will talk to the dr in the morning, may not be able to have the procedure. Feeling ok at the moment, not great, but not sure what can be done if I can't tolerate the prep.

Yes it does seem a lot to others I've heard of.

Glad you are happy with your nipples so far Jenn

    Hi all

Annette over here there's always trouble every Australia Day with everyone fighting over the flag, Royalty, Republic, Aborigines, etc. It seems that people can't even be proud of who they are and what a great country we live in.

Trish I had to laugh at your comment about Jenn's nipples. I just thought "what would other's think if they read some of our posts" LOL

Trish I just had the colon lightly prep.....three bags of it but that was it so not hard to do at all.  I was expecting horrible things from what you described after your last one but was pleasantly surprised.  I can't believe you are having such troubles with the prep!..........your system sure is sensitive and I hope the doc can come up with something that you can tolerate so you can have the procedure.

Jenn, yay for the new nips!!!!!!  Isn't it amazing what they can recreate.......and once the tats are done you will begin to feel a little more normal.

As you can probably guess, I am home after a very big day!  Hair has been cut and styled short and sassy as I was finding the length way to hard to manage as I couldn't  keep my arms above my head for any length of time to style it.  I'm very happy with it now.

The ENT visit went well and after another hearing test to compare with the last one, I am officially deaf from nerve damage and have been given a prescription for a hearing aide.........sigh!......if it's not one thing it's another.......growing older with BC sucks!!!.....big time!!!!!  Other than that, she doesn't want to see me for another six months........yay for me! (Read sarcasm here)........lol.

On a happier note, I did get to meet my darling furgrandbaby!  She is just so gorgeous!! and still small enough that I could pick her up and give her a cuddle.......it was so lovely as she tucked her little head under my chin and cuddled right back...aaaaaawe!!!

Well right now I need a nice hot shower to ease away the stiffness from driving  and then I need to get to bed as it's after 1.00 am and I'm bushed!

    Hi to everyone!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Trish, will not an MRI show what they need to look at if you  can't tolerate the prep, you poor  thing, i really wish you well, i dont  know if your your poor system will stand up to the colonoscopy, be worn out with the prep difficulties. i really hope you ok. its did not do that last time, a couple of years ago i think you had one.  All the best, big cyber hug just for you.

Chrissy, a hearing aid, thats a shame that the nerve damage has done to your ears. Pity  the  cute fur babies   can;t  stay puppies. i bet you enjoyed your cuddle with her.

jenn,  glad you are happy with your new nipples, whoo hoo.

carol, yea i agree, but after the two days prior to  Waitangi day, the celebrations ran pretty smoothly, even the gangs came  up trumps and got into it and  helped with the cookong of the foods , Barbaques,  Mongeral mob, saying they pleased to just be a positive pat of it all instead the scrapping with each other.  so everybody was quite  happy yesterday, yay for a change..

I had my  fasting bloods  done today,  ow, the  nurse who did that one, was pretty needle happy, have a big bruise there, got them to do left arm today, the right one has had a hiding lately with needles been  jabbed in, there is a particular vein that they all like going for, vampires.  lol   but boy, the men  seem to be gentle  when doing bloods, i had a guy give me a blood test for  rads doc, never felt it, today it felt like she was trying to jab a horse. they were busy to,  i think they rush and get it done quick and forget there is a person behind  the needle. its the worse i have had for awhile.

well hi to everyone else that i have not mentioned, but  you all close to my heart and i think about you heaps. xxx

all ok girls, I ended up trying it again at 2am, and was able to keep a little over a litre down. Have had the procedures. All ok nothing sinister, some mild diverticulosis found, but he doesn't seem worried about it. Also took some biopsies from the endoscopy, but I was still a bit too fuzzy to ask him why. He was just that everything looked good.

I did ask him if it could be a "grumbling" appendix and of course he said there really was no such thing lol, just what I expected from a dr, lol they apparently don't believe such a thing exists.

Chrissy, sorry you have to have a hearing aid :-( yep life with bc is a bitch (((hugs)))

Carol, as I was typing that reply to Jenn I did think, "only on this forum ..." Lol

I'm feeling good now, although everything I eat is still going straight through, sigh

Trish I think they do the biopsies at the most common places for cancer as a precaution.  My doc did the same thing to me when I had the top and tail done........it all came back clear although for me there was extensive diverticulitis.  Here's hoping alls good with yours.  If food is still going through you and you are getting all this pain I'm wondering if it's got something to do with your liver/gall bladder? If that's not functioning correctly or there is a blockage you will get pain and diarrhea.  Well worth pursuing to rule it out.

So glad it's all done and hopefully tomorrow you will be feeling way better.

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy
