Yay Racy!! I didn't realise how close we were in finishing chemo - my last one was mid Feb three years ago
Hope everyone is going ok?
For those who don't see Karen's posts on Facebook - she has put a couple of posts up in the last couple of days, she's been out for a coffee and is starting to feel a bit better. I think that's because she's off the chemo that she was on, and she's "woken up". Good to see her enjoying herself a bit, but without this chemo, it may not be great news.
Everything good here, about to get hit by a big cold front, so the rest of the week will be very cold we are told. I must say though, Canberra is looking spectacular with all the leaves changing colour - it's beautiful!

Great news for Racy! Congratulations!
Thank you for the update on Karen, Trish. I have been wondering how she was doing. It's just cruel isn't it! I hope she's having a wonderful time with the baby,
We have a really warm morning here, but like you mentioned the trees are spectacular with the color changes and the Pelicans are coming back. My favorite sight first thing in the morning, is a calm day on the water with about 60 Pelicans right outside my window.
Take care and enjoy the weather we are having now, as it won't be long till it's time to rake up all those lovely leaves, when it isn't too wet or too cold. M x

Well girls I can finally hear!! Yup, I picked up the hearing aide this morning and boy! Do I sound loud!!......lol. It sounds funny when the wind blows over it as the minuscule microphones are very sensitive. It feels a little strange like I've forgotten to take and earbud out of my ear but I guess I will get used to it soon enough. All I can say right now is, I can hear!!! Yippeeee!!!!!

Yay Chrissy!!! Can you hear me?? lol I'll have to get my DH to go get something done about his hearing, and I guess I'll have to get mine looked at too - he's worse than me though lol

That's great Chrissy. This morning I said to hubby can you lower your voice you will wake the baby. He yells "whhhaaaaat?" Needless to say the baby woke up, so I should add him to the list

It's amazing how we raise our voices when we can't hear as our brains think that because we can't hear nobody else can either.......lol.
Catching up with Mandy tomorrow so I'll give hugs from everyone........I'm so looking forward to seeing her again! It's going to be a full on couple of hours!........hahahaha!
Have a good night all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I love the autumn leaves down south. we are still in summer up to this Sunday when a cold snap is expected!
Chrissy, give my best wishes to Mandy.
Also thinking of Kazzie and hoping she is enjoying time with her grandson.
I read here every day. Blessings to y'all.

Chrissy please give Mandy an extra big hug from me
Ariom, I love pelicans. They are such huge birds, but so graceful when they aren't walking lol. They do have weird sort of eyes though, when you look at just the eye I mean.
Today we have a clear blue sky and temp is going to be mild - 16 after yesterday's 21! But apparently on Saturday our top isn't expected to get over 10! Can see that the heating will be on most of that day. Thank goodness I did the baby portrait shoot last Sunday and not this weekend coming, the parents wanted pictures of her outside with the family.
Have a great day all

Morning Trish! It's lovely and sunny here, but fresh, this morning. It was like a Summer day yesterday, lovely and warm with barely a breeze. I'm not looking forward to the cold front that is coming either.
I guess you'll be doing more shots inside as the weather worsens now. I miss the Summer!
I have always had a connection to Pelicans. They were always around before we moved here too. We lived in Williamstown and there was a flock that flew over the house every day on their way either to the wetlands or to the beach.
When my Mother passed away I was sitting with the Celebrant organizing the Eulogy and the Pelicans flew over in formation, she remarked on how close they were and how beautiful they were. Then at the Funeral, which was at a nearby Cemetery, while we were at the graveside, 7 Pelicans flew in very low, over the grave and 4 banked off one way and 3 the other. Everyone was taken by them and the Celebrant said "That was a sign!"
Just after we moved here, I got up one morning and right in front of the house there were about 60 Pelicans on the water . It was the most amazing sight to see. They all but disappear during the Summer, but this time of year they are returning and they sun themselves in the Winter Sun, on a little beach opposite us.
Take care everyone and have a great day!

Wow Ariom, what an amazing connection you have with pelicans!
For everyone who needs a good laugh this morning, I read this in the Canberra Times this morning. We have a number of people each year admitted to hospital for eating death cap mushrooms (they grow here at this time of year, and a lot of people can't tell the difference between them and non poisonous varieties):
Three
people were taken to hospital on Saturday after they were poisoned by the
potentially deadly fungi. Two of the patients were male and female, with the
third person's gender unknown; all three lived in the same household.I'm still laughing.

Lol Trish, think the journalist needs to go back to school.......hahahahaha!
Ariom those pelicans sounds so wonderful to have close by..........I do love the pelicans as well. Are they the brown ones or the white ones?
I'll definitely give Mandy big hugs.........hopefully I won't squeeze the breath out if her of break anything.......lol. I shall be seeing her in about two hours....yippeeeee!!!!
Have a great day all,
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi Chrissy, this is a Pelican that stays around the Marina most of the year. It gets fed by the fishermen, so has a pretty easy life. I took this shot from the boat. It manages to stay beautiful and clean like this all the time, isn't it just gorgeous?
The other shot is a little gang, hanging out, just below our place, that I saw on my morning walk, with the dog.
The land you can see to the left is Raymond Island and the Dunes in the distance separate us from the 90 Mile Beach.
I hope you had a great time with Mandy today, and I am so pleased to hear you are happy with your new hearing aids, what a difference they must make.
Trish, I have been discovering the most amazing looking Fungi on my walks. Being a city girl all my life, I am not used to such an array of different shapes and colours, even my garden has produced some amazing specimens, but I wouldn't even consider eating any of them. I bet that family will be paying for their mushrooms in the future, that's if they can ever bring themselves to eat them again!
Hi to everyone else, take care and have a great day!

Moira they are the same as the ones over here and on Kangaroo Island. I have many pics of them as they are so magnificent!
Had a great time with Mandy and (((((((hugs))))))) are sent back to you all.........lol. I did some shopping while I was there and managed to get some new nighties, jamas and dressing gown for hospital as my others are getting a bit long in the tooth and showing it. Only need to get some new slippers and I'm done! All paperwork is delivered except for the lot that needs to go to the anaesthetist and that happens tomorrow morning so it will be just waiting for the time for the blood test and that is not until a week before so it's all good and I can now concentrate on other things......yippeeeee!!!!
Loving the hearing aid! I'm not having any problem getting used to it at all! And it was great being able to hear what Mandy was saying even in a crowded mall!
Aly enjoy your relax! It's not long now before you head overseas again.......excitement must be building!!
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Moira, he/ she's beautiful... There is an area around the lake near me called Pelican Path...being Sydney there are only a few but they're a local icon.
They love to sit on the light posts on a local bridge and they do make a mess. At one stage the council put prongs on the light posts so they couldn't land. There was a huge public outcry and they had to remove them.... The pelicans returned and are happy at home on a place with a great outlook!

Alyson, I love Napier!
Ariom, thanks for the lovely photos .

Thanks Chrissy, Tammy and Racy! They are just such big ungainly birds, on the ground, but to watch them in flight and especially when they ride the thermals they are just breathtaking. I wish I knew how to tell if they are male or female.
Tammy, I am glad the council had to remove the barriers for the birds. I know they make a lot of mess, they really do poop a lot, LOL but I think a place is richer for having Pelicans choosing to live there.

Ariom, they are beautiful photos, just gorgeous creatures! X
It was lovely catching up with Chrissy and, yes, plenty of hugging was done, and you girls were there in spirit. Hope we can do it again, Chrissie. X x.

Mandy anytime! Once my knee is done I won't be in town as often but after I'm driving again (and that could be anytime after six weeks) I will be back to my usual trips and back into treatment with John and Peter at the Smart Centre. Meeting up where we did was just fine for me so all you have to do is SMS me when you have some time to spare. Take care of that arm!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Glad you both had a good catch up girls. Chrissy - does that mean you are coming back to Canberra soon??
For those who know their NSW Premiers, Nick Greiner has had breast cancer. Here's the link to the story: http://www.afr.com/p/lifestyle/mens_health/nick_greiner_am_well_but_recently_qoJBXIznEdcfxLQfmOiJkN

Good Morning ladies! Time to bring out the cozy dressing gown, it is freezing this morning and the thin waffle robe isn't doing it for me today!
So glad to hear what a nice visit Chrissy and Mandy had. You're lucky to live close!
Chrissy, I wish you all the best for your knee op, when is it?
Trish, I was very interested to watch that interview with Nick Greiner. I always find it amazing how people can put things off, without a second thought. I am glad he has come out the other side and is talking about it.
I am off to our big Op Shop this morning, I made friends with some of the ladies who volunteer there when I first moved here. One is stage lV Ovarian Cancer and not doing too well. I pop in to see her every Thursday, she is one of the sweetest ladies you could meet. I also have the men from there coming to pick up the last renovation items and boxes of odds and ends that didn't sell at my garage sale. I can't wait to get the driveway back.
My next project is to renovate the old boat shed, now that it is empty for the first time since we moved!
Take it easy and stay warm!

Trish I would love to but i'm not sure its going to happen as I have, for some reason, got a pretty full calender for the rest of the month I was so hoping I could but the weeks have just flown. I'm going to have to eat humble pie with tge nieces and send them a little gift if some sort.
Moira the op is scheduled for 31st this month.
Im sitting in the waiting room of the anaesthetist for my appoinment with him and then it rush home to clean my house and get organized as I have to go over to Wallaroo to pick up my SIL for the weekend as its the annual fair and will be busy, busy, busy. I think next week will be spent recovering........lol.
Have a great day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
