Hi Ariom. I am not too bad thanks, except i got up in a hurry for the loo and dam well tripped on something and fell on my hand, but i felt a crack on my finger, ring one on right hand and this morning it is very swollen from nuckle down. i hope i not broken it as i cant bend it and what do they do anyway for a broken finger, probably nothing. if it swells up too much, i will have to go. i am in the wars of late, i was trying to alert Ron, but he was too much in the land of sleep and did not wake, despite my yelling out, as i was having trouble trying to get up, but had to in the end. as he did not hear me. i will take my phone next time, i take if i am going outside and something happens, as i have tripped up before. outside over hose and he never heard me and i had to lay there, and i got up that time. it would worry me if there was a fire, would he wake up ? even with smoke alarms, Mmm I wonder.
Have a good day and Chrissy, hope you enjoying yr break. hugs girls. Caro; enjoy yr break, yipee..

Oh ouch, Midnight, that sounds painful, I hope it isn't broken, not much you can do but, tape to finger next to it. It may be worth getting an over the toilet riser seat, with the bars on either side to help you lift yourself up. You can't afford the risk of falling in there if DH can't hear you. I know falling is a concern. I have stopped getting up a ladder, unless I have someone in the house with me, for the same reason.
Cairns, how lovely! I had a great holiday there years ago, beautiful part of the world. An old friend has the job of Captain on a beautiful yacht up there, for tours of the Barrier Reef, great life.
Hello Trish, thought of you when I passed the decor shop in town, they had beautiful animal pics on canvas, done by a local photographer. I hope you are still enjoying that and getting plenty of work.

Good Luck with your mammo results Carol. I keep in touch with my Cousin, also in Scotland, who had a BC Dx a few years ago too.

I go to the onc this Friday the 20th!
I already know my scans are clear so that's good. I just have to talk to him about my AI. I'm having lots of cognitive problems on Aromasin now, and I can't work with that. Hopefully he'll agree to switch me to Femera. We'll see what he thinks.

Trisha - interesting you saying you have cognitive problems with Aromasin - I thought I was getting old having trouble coming to terms with a new project at work, thinking I was past it.
0 -
Sue, remember I had all those problems on Arimidex? The Aromasin has worked really well for me for the past three years, but I was getting to be the same on Aromasin. It didn't really occur to me that it could be the Aromasin at first. I thought, along with my Dr, that it was something serious in my brain - you know how we all go there lol.
When the MRI was clear, that's when I wondered about the Aromasin. So decided to go off it for a month till I saw the onc. He'd given me a two month "holiday" when I went off Arimidex, so knew it was an option. It will be four weeks this Friday that I've been off it, but I noticed the difference a week after going off it.
Maybe you need a mini "holiday" too to see how it goes?
Trish

Trish - it's all good - just a lot to get a handle on - after a handover today I'm on top of it

Saw my onc yesterday, and I'm now on Femara. He's not optimistic that it will suit, as both Arimidex and now Aromasin has caused cognitive issues. He says the next thing to try would be Tamox, but it's not as effective as the AIs for menopausal women. He also said he'd like to see me on something for more than five years.
So - keeping my fingers crossed that Femara will work for me for a few years. I'll see him again in two months to see how I'm going. Apart from that everything was good. Scans clear, health good but I already knew that!
The past three weeks I've felt the best I have in years.
Hope everyone else is going ok?

Trish I sure hope you get a few years out of the Femara before you start to get the cognitive problems or better still, you do not get any problems at all! I will admit that I had some cognitive hassles to begin with but they eased off after a while and I really don't have any troubles anymore. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well for you.
I'm finally home....yay!! I had a wonderful time in Cairns! Such a busy 'holiday'......lol.......catching up with family that I haven't seen for many years. I met with new members that have arrived in the interim and learned that there will be another addition to the family in the person of the new fiance of my niece.......yes there are now plans afoot to go once again up to Cairns, possibly sometime next year.........and the family just keeps on growing!!!
Hope all are feeling okay and are able to get stuck into living!
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Lucy, congrats on grand baby number 8! and for having the moxy to be looking after a 4 year old and a 2 year old at the same time! I'm afraid I just couldn't bring myself to do that anymore.....lol......I'd rather go on holiday...hahahahaha!,
Sorry, I think I'm tired but I do really admire those who take on the care of little ones as I find they just run me ragged now. Hope all goes well with the coming birth and your daughter recovers quickly form the C section.
No other hols planned for this year other than the one to France oh and the one to Melbourne for the get together which is always the last weekend in November. If you're up for it, makes plans to join in.......I will be doing some research into places to stay and costs and post them a little later in the year.

Morning. Trying to open my eyes. Have had a friend here and we have done much. It has been so wonderful but I am so tired.
Anyway I have to get moving because I have to go out to my MiLs to collect some things for her. She is in hospital in a geriatric ward. Muriel has last more weight and generally is struggling. She has dementia we are trying to find somewhere for her as she is not coping at home. Biggest problem is eating which she is not doing as she is down to 41kg. Jen will understand what we are going through.
A funny moment. DH was sitting with her when a young woman came in. She talked to Muriel asking questions. After several she asks Muriel if she has any other problems MiLs reply 'it might be better if I saw a doctor'. DH 'this is a doctor' MiL: but I need to see a doctor. And this from a woman who was an Associate Principal of a high school and an out and out feminist. Very sad.
Must go and get my breakfast.
Big hugs.

Oh Aly, so sad to hear that Muriel has deteriorated further and is now in need of full time care. I really hope that something can be found sooner rather than later for her. Do take care of yourself as well.
How is your back? What has been said about what can be done for you to alleviate your pain.
Love n hugs to you. Chrissy

Hi.. I had my check up with my BS today.. He gave me the paper work for my mammogram and breast ultrasound next August.. He also gave me slip for having a blood test , but I feel distressed because he has included the CA15.3 tumour marker test in it.? I'm already upset over it as everything Is have read advises not to have it.... any thoughts.??
0 -
Don't worry about it. Have it every year. It is just a guide for the docs. There would be panic if mine went up as it has never been high at all. Hugs.
Must get to sleep..
0 -
Lucy, don't worry about the CA15.3 blood test as it is just standard of care and doesn't mean your doc is looking for anything sinister.
For a lot of people it is a great way to tell if their cancer is active or if it has returned but there is just as many that it tells nothing at all and I am one of them. My doc continued to do the CA15.3 test for years even though it never moved even when we knew that there was active cancer because it was standard of care. It wasn't until I said to him that it was a waste of my blood and the labs time and money to run that test as it never changed that he decided to no longer run it.
Please don't stress about having it done.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hello girls
I have a problem. I'm already almost fully booked for November this year, and I really want to get to our get together in Melbourne. The last week in November we've been commissioned to do a three day dog show in Cooma (yay!) and have our Santa photos starting mid November too (that's on a Friday night). The only weekend I have free at the moment is the weekend of 13 and 14 November. Every other weekend is booked as well as the first weekend in December.
Would anyone else have a problem if we made it the 13th and 14th instead of 28 and 29?
Trish

Alyson and Chrissy.. Thanks for your replies.. It's just not very many doctors seem to do it. Doctor said if I am so stressed he would remove it.. but I feel such a goose to do that when he believes in having it done.!
0 -
Lucy, you would be surprised at just how many docs do do the CA15.3 and use it purely as a tool as it can be unreliable and rather than watching for a particular rise or fall, they tend to look more for a trend. If you really are so uncomfortable with doing it ask to have it removed as there is definitely no shame in doing that.
Trish I'm so happy to hear that the Pawtography has taken off and is doing so well for you! 14th November is my Grandsons birthday but at twenty this year, I don't think he will mind if his grandmother is not here for it.........besides, his brother's birthday is the 18th and we usually combine the celebration so I will try to get that for the weekend after. How about you other girls? Any problem with the change?
I'm pooped! Did a big shop today to replenish my pantry and fridge after being away for two weeks as well as having to get some goodies in as I have to do some baking for a 'do' at the old Burra Railway Station that the committee is catering for and as I am a member of the committee, I have to do my bit........sausage rolls and cheese cakes.........talk about both ends of the scale.....lol. Well the shopping is all done, put away and I am now sitting feet up in my comfy chair and it looks like it's where I will be for the rest of the night.
Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Trish, the new date works for me :-)
Chrissy, I'm not much of a cook but this past week I've made hot cross buns, rocky road, chicken and corn pie and apple and rhubarb crumble....you've inspired me to make sausage rolls!
0 -
Yo Tammy!! You go girl!!! Sounds like you've been cooking up a storm! I love home made sausage rolls and should do them a little more often. I use the store bought puff pastry and I add carrot, onion, fresh bread crumbs and mixed herbs to the sausage mince and they are yum, yum, yum!! Good luck with yours!

Hi Girls, went to doc today regarding my fall i had the other weekend and hurting my finger, i let it go as i did not think it was worth it, but its been aching ans still swollen and turns out it is fractured, butn a different kind, i have torn the tendons and some bone went with it. i have to go a hand therapist as if i dont do anything, my finger will become dis-functional and as its the right hand, ring finger. i need that to function.
Glad everybody ok, and carol, hope you enjoying yr holiday.
Tammy, you will be on master chef yet lol, yummy.
well i better go, ron just got in. so see you lovely ladies xxxx

Oh Midnight, so sorry to hear that. I know what you've done there, I did it to my ankle walking in the dark, to a Restaraunt a few years ago. It's called an Avulsion fracture and it hurts a lot!
Aly, so sorry to hear about your MIL, we had both our Mothers, with different types of Dementia. It is vile and cruel and so difficult for everyone concerned. Fortunately, we found really excellent care for them both, at different times, in the same Nursing Home. It was near where we lived and then we brought Colin's Mother here, to a lovely place just up the road, when we moved, so we could be close to her.Going into care can be difficult, but we were very happy and a little surprised, to see both of them settle in well and actually enjoy living in their new surroundings.
Trish, so good to see how successful your business has become! I would love to catch up with you in Melbourne this year. It is hard for me to make plans a long time in advance because we rely on carers for Colin and if any of them are away, I need to take up the slack. I wouldn't need accommodation as I am from Melbourne and have my Daughter and GF's there, so I'd like to say a "definite maybe" for whichever weekend you choose! I would be willing to bet that Dawny may want to come from Geelong too!

Ouch Annette!! That finger sounds sooo sore! I'm glad to hear that you are getting some therapy to keep it from becoming useless.
Moira it would be lovely if you can come to the get together! We will definitely keep you well informed when and where.
It feels like winter here again today and am dressed accordingly.....lol......jeans, light jumper (yep, I had to pull it out of moth balls) and warm slippers, I even put an extra blanket on the bed this morning when I made it! I think we are going to experience that last gasp of Summer later this week or maybe next but then it will be time to start thinking about getting the wood organised and restacked ready for the onset of the rain and the really cold days and nights.
Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Thanks Chrissy! We are feeling the change int the weather too. I have just started doing Tai Chi a few times a week and I have to take the ferry across to Raymond Island for the class. This morning the cold wind off the water took my breath away. Won't be wearing a light jacket again! I do love Autumn and the sharp light that we get, it makes everything look so bright.
It won't be long till we will be getting the Winter Doona and the throw rugs out!
