Jac I will be organising the accommodation as a group unless you prefer to have a room of your own. We usually get a serviced apartment that will sleep six or eight (depending on numbers) and then we share the cost. It actually ends up reasonable as far as costs go but we have a couple of ladies that prefer to book their own accommodation near by, so what ever you would prefer just let me know. I have already been looking into accommodation but haven't booked anything yet but hopefully this will get done by beginning of September so I can get a bit of a deal and if you want me to take care of it, I will need to know for sure if you are coming by the end of August if that is okay.

Sweetpea you are, of course also invited to join us just let me know yes or no. It is a great way to actually get to know each other, put faces to names, share experiences, and get some face to face laughter from others who have been there and done that..........I can highly recommend it!

I have woken to a rainy day and just wish I could stay in bed and listen to the rain on the roof but alas, I have my six month check today with the specialist and then later this afternoon I am finally getting all these stitches removed......yipeee!!!

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi girls,  Aly when my grand mother died in 2000, mums twin bro went around the house with a pen and paper listing the things he was going to take, one things he wanted, he swore black and blue it belonged  to grand ma and grandpa, it was ceramic old jug in a bowl that the people used to use in the early days that I made when I was doing ceramics. it was very  big and my pride and joy and nothing to do with the grandparents but as they lived there with mum and I,  he thought it was  the grand parents.  and my other uncle said that gran told them that nothng is to leave the house until mum and I decided to let it happen. Grandmas had not even had her funeral at that time, he was quite embarrassed when he jumped to conclusions re jug in the bowl, its actually in the loo for the toilet brush and rolls. lol. I told her tio use it instead of getting new one.

Chrissy hugs, and Mel and new girls and to all. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello Sweetpea63, and a very warm welcome to you. Good luck with the radiotherapy, I hope that the time goes by quickly.

Mel, I am glad that you are home with your new boobies. I think that you will be very happy with them.

I am still going well and I had my regular Denosumab injection yesterday. The doctor said that my bloods were good and my tumour markers are almost normal again, so Xeloda is still doing its job for me wahoo. I have come down with an allergic rash which started just below my knees a few weeks ago, but now has spread to my thighs as well as my left arm. Thankfully my right arm is still OK as that is my Lymphatic arm. I will get some antihistamine from the chemist today to see if that will do the trick as deep down I think the rash is from the Xeloda. I haven mentioned this to my onc yet as it has not really bothered me that much and I dont want to go off it. The other reason I may have this rash is from the Swimming pool or the Spa, so I will have a break for a month to see if that will also help.

Hoping everyone is well, and sending yoju all warm hugs

    Mandy xxxxx

Hi girls! Specialist appointment went really well and he is very pleased with me........doesn't want to see me until January so that's a good thing.

Followed that appointment with the one to have the stitches removed and they did the ones in my leg but the ones in my finger are still there and are not due for removal until tomorrow so bummer on that one. GP upped the dosage of anti B's again as there were a couple of spots he wasn't happy with the look of but its all precautionary so that's a good thing.

Annette love your family story, so funny that he was so sure that the jug and bowl were antiques.........lol.

Mel, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your appointment goes well. Don't forget that this is a healing process and is not going to happen over night.......take it easy right now and let nature do its thing. I'm sure you will be happy with the new girls once they settle down.

Yay Mandy for the Xeloda still doing its thing for you.......it's great that you are getting a long run with it. That rash is a bit of a worry though......keeping my fingers crossed that it is something you have come into contact with and not the Xeloda.

Hi ya Tammy! Long time no see but I guess you have been busy as life does have a tendency to take over.......lol.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone in November and letting everyone know that I will need confirmation of numbers by the end of August as I won't to get everything booked and sorted before I leave on the France trip.

Take care all! Love n hugs. Chrissy

Thank you for the info Chrissy. I will definitely know by end of August if I can make it.. I would love to meet you all, and Melbourne is my favourite Australian city (apart from Perth of course😀)

I am now four weeks out from surgery - boy that went fast - but not recovering very well. Have a wound vac on now, so I am hoping to turn the corner soon and avoid surgery to clean up necrosis. Still have the last of my five drains in and it shows no sign of slowing yet! That will be a day for celebration 😄

    Loving reading your stories here.

Damn Jac! What a journey you have had so far! I sure hope that vac does the trick for you and gets the healing going strong so you can avoid an abridement. Surgery is difficult enough without having this sort of problem.

Don't forget, you can let off steam here as well, sometimes we need to say things that we really don't want close friends and family to hear but really do need to be expresses for our own sanity sake and this thread is great for that. We have all been there and needed to get something off our chest (pardon the pun :) ) and sharing with us seems to help.

Those drains are the biggest pain of all and you will feel so free once that last one comes out but right now it's very much needed as your body is trying to cleanse the wound and so keeps producing fluid. Look forward to the day that it starts to slow as that is the day you will know the healing is progressing.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Racy my DH and I are going to France for six weeks and we will be leaving on the 15th September and returning on the 28th October. We plan to spend a week all up in Paris and the rest of the time driving around the south west of France, the Dodogne area to be precise. We will be flying Emirates via Dubai and we are doing it the whole trip in style. DH has been saving for a long time and surprised me with this earlier in the year and all flights are business class so I'm really looking forward to the whole thing.....lol

I have been noticing that you have been doing a little tripping around as well and I hope you enjoyed them as much as I'm planning on enjoying mine.

Looking forward to seeing you again in Melbourne.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

oh Chrissy, your words were a tonic yesterday which was one of those I describe as "springing a leak" I am generally very calm and pragmatic and I find the energy of tears quite a negative experience so I try to avoid them. But every now and then up they bubble😪.. You are right, there are things you don't want to say to the family, especially as they are trying to be positive and cheerful around me. And all I really want to do is swear and say this is crap, and I hurt, and while I know I am lucky that this has been caught early.......right now I don't feel so lucky. And if one more person talks about my "boob job" I think I will scream👿

Ahhh, now that feels a bit better! On the upside, I have just come back from the hospital where they cleaned up my drain site and made me a bit more comfortable. We are talking about the possibility of pulling it next week and resorting to needle aspiration because my body and skin are not tolerating it too well at the moment. Anyhoo, that's next week decision.

Thank you again. And btw I am with Racy. I love France so if you feel inclined to share I would love to hear about your plans for the trip.

Hi ladies, have'nt posted for a while, been mostly on LE thread re my LVA surgery which I had done in Oxford. I just got back home last night and pleased to report that the long flight did not make the LE any worse. Mind you and this is for Chrissy, I flew Emirates on the A380 and can highly recommend business classThumbsUp. I mostly slept the whole way, very comfortable.

Jac, sorry to hear you are having a difficult time of it. I am a fellow Scot and enjoyed myself catching up with family although the weather was awful, still that's Bonnie Scotland. I am in Perth NOR and if there's anything I can help you with just give me a shout. I had to give up work so would be able to help you for appointments, shopping anything at all. Also, I met some lovely ladies at the Cancer Council exercise classes and we meet up for coffee and plenty of talking if you would like to join us. I have found it very helpful.

Hope everyone else is keeping well and warm.

Sorry Chrissy, I missed your reply to Racy with some info about France. We splurged and did the trip with Emirates business class a couple of years ago when our daughter was spending her last semester of uni studying in Paris. It was the best holiday of my life.

Elaine, thank you for your very generous offer to help me. I am a in Karrinyup and would love to meet you. I am very tied to the house and the hospital at the moment with these treatments, which are usually accompanied by sleeping in between, but I will PM my contact details and maybe we could plan a coffee and an exchange of tales from our recent Scottish travels. I am so glad I went to Scotland before my surgery because I have some lovely memories to go on the more difficult days. I am not actually Scottish ( Northern Irish originally but been an Aussie for a long time now) but married to a man whose family was chucked out of the Srathconnan Glen during the clearances. The family wedding was our nephew who was based in Aberdeen after uni. He met a lovely lass from Aberdeen and so we staged an Aussie invasion and descended into Aberdeen to celebrate their wedding. It was amazing, with all the men in the kilts, and fabulous traditional dancing.

Thank you again, your kindness has really touched my heart.

Hi Jac, we have more in common than you think! DH is from Armagh and my mum is originally from Aberdeen. I am a Glaswegian but consider myself an Aussie as we have been here for over 23 years. Yes, please do PM me your details and I will be in touch. If you are anything like me, I sometimes feel guilty to keep asking DH to take time off work to come with me to appointments so would be more than happy to help you out in any way that I can. I am in Currambine so not far down the freeway to Karrinyup. Hope to hear from you soonSmile

Hi everyone and thanks Racy for letting me know to come back to BCO. I think of you all regularly but have been dealing with non cancer stuff this past 6 months since closing my shop. All is well with my health and I am just seeing a little spark of light at the end of the tunnel regarding financial stuff. Might even make Melbourne later this year if all goes well in the next week or two.

Kylie, I've got everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Yay Linda! Lovely to see you here again. Sorry about the shop closure and I do hope that financially things look up for you soon. We would love it if you can make Melbourne so keep checking in as i need final numbers at the end of August.

Back in the city after a lovely weekend at home. It was my DH birthday yesterday and our 46th wedding anniversary.........not bad for a marriage that my mother told me wouldnt last three months.......lol.

DD is finally responding to meds and it has finally (after me asking for it to be tested) tgat her Vit D was non existent. Her doc gave her a script for 500,000 units and she now takes 5,000 units per day. She has gone from not sleeping at all to needing to sleep for hours! Hopefully this is the beginning of her recovery.

Had my dressings changed again today and was given another repeat on one of the Anti B's I have been on for two weeks already as well as another added to the mix. My poor gut is beginning to complain loudly so I've also added a good probiotic. I'm so hoping that I won't need anymore after this lot and the infection in my leg will be gone.

    Take care all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

    Kylie, (((hugs))))

We all know exactly how you are feeling, we are with you every step of the way. Call if you need, you know how to find me xoxo

Linda - you closed the shop?! Hopefully things will settle down for you and I hope that light at the end of the tunnel gets closer and closer xoxo

I'm sorry I haven't been on here very much lately. I've been hibernating a bit since I stopped work. It's been wonderful to just relax and not have to worry about getting to the office. I will have to look for work soon though - money doesn't grow on trees unfortunately.

My house is an absolute mess at the moment, we are half way through bathroom renovations, and I'm sick and tired of all the upheaval. But we are getting to the end, and the bathroom will be worth it.

I've also been doing some photography work, and that's been great.

Welcome to the new girls too - sorry you are here, but this is a wonderful caring, supportive group of women.

    My love to you all

    Trish

    xoxo
