So sad, my eldest, DD has just had another miscarriage. She has a beautiful little boy but this wil be her 2nd miscarriage. She went in for an ultrasound and it wasn't viable, so she is getting a curette on Monday. I hadn't mentioned my scans to her.

yes Kylie but I was grade 3 not sure if that changes the stage or not

God bless your family, Kylie. So many ups and downs in this life. Hope of better things to come for your family xxx.

Thanks Jacfin and Racy.
Delvzy your grade doesn't change your Stage. My non technical version: Your stage is qualifying the point that your cancer has reached in your body, your Grade is the speed at which your cancer grows.

Ok ladies, I have just been watching a report on BC on tv. I did wonder about this when I got my mammo. The machine I had only came down straight whereas other mammos have had machines which angle and seem to take more angled views. Any opinions on this?

thanks for that Kylie

Hi all
Kylie my last few mammo's that I have had the machine goes all the way around. The lady doing the mammo couldn't get the view she wanted so put it at a strange angle. There must be different sorts of machines.
I have watched that Mick Fanning shark attack about a dozen times today, very scary. He's a sportsman not like those stupid Tennis players !!!

Kylie, the private screening clinic that I go to has the newer '3D' machines. Not sure if that was what you saw but I understand 3D is the latest thing.
I think the better the screening the more accurately they can view and diagnose issues.
You may not have access to ultra-modern technology where you live.
Best, Racy x

Melp, glad you're feeling better!
I used to work for a company that sold mammo machines and 3D is the newer better technology....but apparently the skill of the radiologist reading the scans is the most important thing.

Hello girls, I hope that you are all keeping well. I just thought I would let you know of some exciting news for me, I guess......
I found out last Saturday that I will be interviewed on 60 minutes within the next month. I got a phone call from Ally yesterday morning and she told me that Charles Woollie will phone me next week to arrange to come to Victor Harbor on a particular day and they will organise what they want to film. This is related to the Jane McGrath Foundation 10 year anniversary (this year) and how our McGrath Breast Care nurses make such a difference to our lives. There is more to this than I can not tell you yet which also involves my McGrath nurse and myself and I think that we will both be flown to Sydney sometime in September (probably with accommodation as well) for a particular event.... I have known about this since December last year, but this 60 minutes thing came our of the blue.......I am also heavily involved in our local secondary breast cancer group and this October will be our 1 year anniversary. Any suggestions how we can celebrate considering that most of us have a low immune system due to chemo and or radiotherapy, but I really would like to make this memorable for our little group. (we lost 2 of our members within this last month, but there are 4 new ones joining us). I think at most times we have between 4 and 8 attending, occasionally 10.
I picked the 3 girls up yesterday, the 2 year old from childcare and then the two 4 year olds from kindy. This will become normal from now on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I get home about 8pm on wednesdays. The only thing that worries me is hitting a kangaroo on the drive home
Except for a rash which I am pretty sure is from the Xeloda, I am still going strong. Blood test later today and oncologist Tuesday and I know that scans will be organised then. Well, they just have to wait until after my interview haha.
Warm hugs to you all

Congratulations Mel, I would love to catch up with you too sometime. I am so glad that everything went well and I hope that you are happy with your new boobies. haha.
I was interviewed a year ago concerning celebrating Jane Mcgrath 10 year anniversary of the Jane McGrath Breast Care nurses being available to everyone in Australia. Starting with regional centres first. I think there are about 44 Breast Care nurses around Australia at the moment, maybe more, so dont quote me on this. So there will be a book coming out in September this year with stories of 10 (or 20???? not sure how many, sorry girls) Breast care nurses and their stories. These breast care nurses have also picked out someone who they think might like to share their stories and my Breast Care nurse picked me!!!! (or everyone else was smart enough to say NO???) So, I blabbed on as though I was talking to a friend and word for word it has been printed in this book coming out. I have not said anything about it because of the secrecy concerned. But now 60 minutes read the transcript and picked my breast care nurse and me out of all the stories for their bit. So I am expecting a phone call from them again this week to arrange a suitable day for filming. Perhaps we could just keep it under hats for the time being and I will keep you all posted. Part of me wished that I refused as i am still excited from the phone call last week. Normally I just take things as they come. However, Jane Mcgrath was such an inspirational woman and I watched all her interviews along the way, and I feel honoured and obliged to do my part.

Hello again ladies
I am recovering at home from hospitalisation last week for debridement and surgery to close my wound. My mastectomy/recon wound had become quite a mess over the past six weeks and my surgeon decided that without another op to get rid of the dead tissue and close it I would be looking at months before it healed.
I have been completely out of it for the past week from exhaustion and medication until about 24 hours ago, but I am feeling so much better now that I am alert and functioning a bit. My recovery is at last heading in the right direction.
Mandy, your experience with the McGrath Foundation is really interesting. I hope the 60 minutes experience is a positive one for you and your nurse.
Alyson, your shawl is stunning. Although I am an irregular knitter, it is one activity that I hope to resume before the weather heats up again as I am mid project and want to get it finished. I haven't tried yet because I am taking everything very gently just now.
I hope you are all well and staying warm and dry during the winter months.

Oh shit Jac!! Not what you need to happen but really good that your surgeon took it in hand and did the debridement. Now at least the wound has a good chance of healing well. Take it easy while you get over the op and even after you are starting to feel better........your body has been through a hell of a lot and needs a lot of rest to recover.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

oh my goodness, Jac!! sending you hugs, lots and lots of them. I hope that your wound will heal properly now..... The things that we all have to go through besides just battling with cancer.....
