Implant Exchange (oYo) ~ Anyone go/stay SMALL?? (B cup)

Megan ~ my PS won't commit to size either!!! He won't even talk about final size until the pre-op appt when he measures... but, like you, I trust him! ... and I've heard of the pancake effect right after surgery too! Boy, I wish we could have a crystal ball and be able to see what it will all look like 3 years from now!! Don't you?! Sounds like you are doing great and even planning on carpooling in the next 5 days! Glad to hear you've already talked to someone about the shoulder! .... and I saw a PT as soon as I got the 6 week greenlight for arm movement from my PS.
Annie ~ I got my period the week after my BMX too and it sucked!! ... looking at the calendar.. it's entirely possible that I could get it shortly after my exchange as well. Yippee.
... and I think a virtual cocktail party sounds fabulous!!

I vote virtual cocktail party too! You gals are great!
I remember the toiletting issues too. Even though I still had my left hand, I didnt have the (ahem) dexterity? It was completely baffling to me to try to use the left hand, lets just say!
And MAN I would love to see what Ill look like 3 years from now! Wouldnt that be great! Then I wouldnt feel so lost and worried that I am choosing wrong!

I only waited a week after TE surgery to have PT but that was because I was in a lot of pain and could not move without hurting. I had rolled my shoulder forward and was doing the "broken wing" thing - holding my arm close to my body - which caused all of my muscles and nerves to contract. I think I was afraid of opening up the stitches or hurting the TE somehow.
Anyway the pain drugs were not doing it for me so my PS sent me to PT right away and I was treated with heat and massage to area just under my arm and towards my shoulder blade. It was wonderful right after just 1 session.
After my exchange I saw a PT 2 weeks after but this time it wasn't nearly so bad!
I bought a 1/2 foam roll and I lay on that each night with my arms outstretched. It really opens up the chest muscles and gives me a nice stretch.
Was someone on here talking about constipation from the drugs? I can't remember where I saw that now but I'll tell you that 25 green grapes worked for me! My PICC line nurse told me about that when I was going through chemo and when I could combine that with coffee - look out!

I also got my period a week after BMX or make 2 weeks… I don't remember but it was my last one. I bought some Kotex pads for the first time in my life because on chemo you are not supposed to use tampons. Never needed them.

The DAY AFTER my MX I got my period while I was still in the hospital! It was a nightmare. I wanted to go home or at least have my IV taken out. I ended up staying another night but the nurse sympathized and noticed that my IV was "falling out".
I had another one a month later but then I started chemo.
So my last period was right after my first chemo in Oct 2009 and I haven't had one since.
I had blood work done this past summer and I am officially in "chemo-pause".

Even though I have a 560 cc gummy in and I'm probably measuring closer to a D than a C cup (because of width) I do feel smaller than pre-BC (overfull and sagging C cup).
For the first time in a very long time I was able to wear shelf bra tank tops and bra-less sundresses comfortably. It's not that warm where I live right now but we were on vacation in Hawaii last week.

Marie - Hawaii?! How nice!! I lived in Honolulu for 3 years and could use a dose of that right now!

Marie ~ How great to be able to wear shelf tanks and bra-less sundresses!! ... I live in the Pacific NW too, so I can understand that Hawaii must have been a welcome treat!!!

off-topic....one of my dream vacations is to spend time in the Pacific Northwest...it looks sooooo beautiful!!! I've only traveled as far north as Portland, Oregon on a cross-country trip one summer (about 2 1/2 months of traveling) - knowing someday I'd come back and travel some more...
...although considering we are getting snow tonight, Hawaii sounds pretty awesome right about now too!!!

Four more inches of new snow this morning. My outdoor table is still covered....my DH said that it is because we had to shovel our roof off during the winter...that is why out backyard still has feet of snow!
BUT....our flight leaves at 7pm tomorrow for the Keys. Not quite Hawaii, but is will be sunny and 83 degrees. I am going to have a margarita in honor of all of you...and your new (and old) girls. Maybe I will have to have a pina colada...out of a coconut!!!!!
Have a great week everyone...I will try to keep up on my IPAD!

Look at all your gals with "tropical" vacations!! I'm so jealous!!
Megan ~ Funny you say you've wanted to visit the Northwest... I've always been fascinated with the NE! We did the Wash DC field trip with some kids a few years ago... got to Jamestown, Mt Vernon, Gettysburg, Williamsburg.... I couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery (it was before the hot summer!) and all the rich history!

Susan Oh shoot youve GOT to get up to Boston then!!! I love my home state and miss it so much! My friend wants me to take her and show her around...but I cant decide which season is best! LOL. Only if we could still afford to live there.....sigh.

Annie - the keys!!! awesome! My parents just returned from there Monday (they live on Cape Cod, but winter in St Pete's FL, but took a trip to the keys)...the weather was fabulous!!! lotsa spring breakers & awesome sights - have a blast! ...and I think a drink from a coconut sounds hilarious & delicious & totally fitting at the same time!!! enjoy yourself!!!
Susan, yes - Sue is correct, a trip to Boston is a great one! I forget living so close how much it has to offer! ...but I gotta say, what I saw of the pacific, Big Sur, up to Portland was stunning!!! what an amazing coastline!

Megan: Congrats! I am a high-profile 350 cc and, after two weeks and massaging (per doctor's orders), they are slowly softening. I still have my surgical bra that I rotate on occasion with the sports bra. The Natori bra hits right where the stitches are so I am saving that one for later when I heal. However, I found these sports bras in Macy's and I love the way I look in them and they are nice and snug which helps with the burning "pain" I have which are the muscles. It is by Champion and is Style 3453, Bali Active. It has a low neckline so you can wear it under shirts like a camisole. Your boobs will look hot! Trust me

Arlene - thanks for the tip!!! I am going out early next week (when I can drive) to look for sports bras that will work with clothes...I am getting excited to shop! Do you prefer zip or front-clasp bras or do you use the ones that go over head? ...not sure if I could get a snug bra over my head with the arms yet...I've been known to "shimmy" a sports bra or even a camisole up my legs to get it on with TE's...I felt so cumbersome trying to yank it down over the coconuts ;-)

oh, and I love that my boobs will look hot ;-) ...I'm so looking for that brand!

Sue ~ Boston IS one of my "cities I want to visit"!! There are SO many places I want to visit..it would take more than a lifetime to see them all!
Arlene ~ I just looked up that Bali bra and it sure is cute!! I suppose I could buy them before my exchange because they aren't wired and my exchange cc won't be very different from my TE cc. Sweet, I'm going shopping!!!
Megan ~ How's the pain today? Is it noticebly better yet? I distinctly remember when I finally started feeling better after the BMX.. (about 2 weeks out).. I remember that all of a sudden each day was literally twice as good as the day before. I hope with the exchange it happens after 2 days.. and not after 2 weeks!
Annie ~ I'm laughing about the "cococnut" drink.. didn't catch that before! How apropos!!

Susan - the pain is still there, but kind of like with the bmx, I have certain times of the day it is worse, like the late day, probably because we are busier, huh?! - this early evening I feel the burning, remember that feeling? The nerves are mad at me again! I will tell ya I stopped percosets at 5 am, I am getting all "backed up" again - ugh!!! I decided to try out the tylenol/ativan combo today...the PS's office called in the nick of time tonight to check in, I was taking whatever was left over from the bmx, but now have a new script, which is good. I think ativan helps me sleep better than percoset, anyway, it lasts longer...I don't feel major pain if I am just resting, but it's dinner-time and I had to get the kids cleaned up, fed & then dinner for the hub - I keep it simple, but still, it's the standing & chest pressure that's tough...but thinking back, I will say the bmx required more drugs at this point in the game...after talking to the nurse tonight she mentioned that it is usually 48-72 hrs after exchange things really start looking up, like you mentioned, probably then things will begin to really progress even better, even faster!
btw, I just showed my hub the new girls tonight (he's been working when I've been sneaking peeks!) he says that they are pretty symmetrical, and that the scars under the crease are almost non-exisitant when he looks at me straight-on, even though they still have the pancake-look, he says the look natural - yay!!! It's hard when you are the only one looking, I needed feedback! I cannot tell you how much I wish I could post pics...I want you all to see 'em so bad ;-)
I am going to check out those bras right now - cute stuff, huh?! ...susan, you used the coobie bras, would those be good for post-exchange, too? I thought they were cute when I looked them up...

Yes I remember the burning!! I can't wait to see how you are doing 72 hours out!
It sounds wrong, but I wish I could sneak a peek of you too! lol! Glad your hubby was able to give you some positive feedback.
And, yes, I've been using the coobie bras...really like them..very comfortable. I'm not sure how supportive they are but you can snug up the straps. Plus they are fairly cheap and cute.

Sue and Megan..they are the ones that go over your head but they aren't too snug to make it difficult for you. I just went for my first three mile walk today. Yeah! My back is hurting a little but my PS told me my muscles are still shouting that they don't like that implant in there. Nothing that Aleve and laying down on my back won't cure for the time being, right? I have to keep telling myself that it's only two weeks since the surgery and time heals all wounds.

Time does heal....Im convinced now....but if you asked me a couple of weeks ago....LOL
Megan (and Susan) it DOES sound creepy/wrong but I want a peek too!
Ill have to try those coobies...Ive heard alot about them on these boards. At least right now Im able to easily cammo the TE side. It will get dicey at the next fill I think.

girls, if I was on a "personal-only" laptop - I would happily post all the pics I could for ya!0

Megan,
Glad everything went well with the exchange. I'll do mine on 3/30. Hope I'll be OK to travel on 4/15 as I plan to attend my nieces wedding in Chicago.
I also had frozen shoulder in one arm right after chemo over a year ago. It took almost a year of PT to heal. That pain was worse than the BMX for 3 months. I'm hoping I don't get it back with all this surgery.

Hi Terri! Thanks for checking in - I must say, today I feel like I am turning a corner...I had surgery Monday and today I feel more like myself. I switched around the meds and kicked the percosets to the curb (I really think I am one of the few who doesn't sleep well on them) and went to tylenol during the day and tylenol with Ativan for muscle relaxation in the evening/nighttime. Last night I slept straight thru (8 hrs) woke up, got my kids off to school then went back to bed for 2 hours! I think as long as I'm sleeping ok, my body can reouperate better.
oooh, your frozen shoulder sounds pretty intense - I am seeing my PS on Tuesday and asking for a script to start PT. Either I have gotten used to the pain, or it doesn't bother me as much, it was almost like the fills aggravated the pain under my shoulder blade. I'm hoping you are able to avoind any shoulder issues this time around, too!!!
I think you will be fine for travel 2 weeks after exchange, just take it easy after surgery - it's time to baby the babies!!! ...and congrats on having a date!!! It's so exciting when you know it's approaching and you have a date on the calendar! Definitley check back in and let us know how you are progressing as your date apporaches!

ok - I also said I would be back in the "carpool" today for the kids...I decided to give it one more day, just to be on the safe side. Although I am feeling better I think my range of motion for twisting and turning isn't "there" yet. I think tomorrow's the day!
...well, I'm off to wait for my friend to pick me up for a trip to the market, yes - I am like the neighborhood "shut-in" ...all I need now is one of those big, wire grocery baskets on wheels to really pull the look together!!!
0 -
Terri ~ good luck with your exchange surgery next week.
Megan ~ Neighborhood shut in! lol! ... I was happy to hear you say you are feeling "more like yourself" on.. what is this? ..... the morning of day 3? That's very encouraging!! Sometimes I wonder if it's even getting off the darn percocet that helps you feel more like yourself! I'm hoping to be off it within a couple days like you.... with my BMX.. I was taking it for 2 weeks!

Neighborhood Shut In!!! LOL - someone PLEASE come talk to me???
Yes I think firstly getting off the pain meds helped a lot to getting back to normal. I still felt like I was run over by a bus for much longer than I anticipated!!! Now that its been 8 weeks - I feel all out of shape and struggle at the gym again! I hate it!
0 -
I should clarify here - I am not a fan of NO drugs, I'd be a bit of a basket case without something to take the edge off! ;-) ...I just don't handle percoset well, wacky dreams, itchy skin all around annoying!
buuuut, I think Ativan (or some ladies use valium) for muscle relaxant is a godsend! That paired with tylenol does the trick - and I am definitley not ready to part with either of those two! ;-) I am finally back to "normal" in the "going" department...I hate feeling all backed up due to the narcotics! After my 1st day "out" I am tired, gorcery shopping, lunch with a friend and prepping dinner, my arms are tired and ready to relax...as is the rest of my body!
Yes, Sue - I agree the gym was such a struggle to feel back to myself, and I never quite did get there pre-exchange! I look at it as, hey, at least we are all there trying, right?

I went for my 8th expansion today. Found out I will need 2 more. All this for a B! I was told I'm getting a little more than a shot glass with each expansion. 10 shots… That's a lot of tequila We are going to talk about exchange date in 2 weeks after last expansion.
SuebeeBC I'm also a transplanted Bostonian living in the Midwest… but I actually love Chicago. Just miss the seafood/fish. For some reason Midwesterners cook fish like it's pork.

Lago - 10 shots! Imagine the hangover! How much is in a shot glass anyway?
I agree about the fish....after the places Ive lived, fish is a really tough sell here. I still order it when I go out, but its usually overcooked.....the sushi is OK. I go bananas when I get back east, you can be sure! Lobster Rolls for everyone!
Megan - glad its not just me! I felt so strong before surgery and feel back to my old ways now. Id get out more if it was a tad warmer but its back in the 30's today! YIKES
