Hi everybody!  I had my exchange yesterday!!!  Everything went as well as it could.  I'm back in the surgical bra but the PS said I could switch to a sports bra after my first post-op appt.  (tomorrow.)

I've tried peaking but can't tell too much and am afraid to take everything off just yet as the PS's office told me I needed to keep everything on 24/7 and wait for them to help me out of one bra and into another.  I definitely look smaller from what I can tell.  The only bummer I'm having is that the doc went in with 400's and 425's and decided during surgery that with my frame the 400's would serve me better.  I'm hoping I'm not too flat.  I bought quite a few summer shirts with my TE's (crazy I know but it was a great sale!) and it was fun to have a figure!  And no bra to get it was even better!  My hubby says we can always go in for a revision but I can't imagine doing that if we're only talking about 25 or 50 cc's.  And I'm assuming insurance would not pay for it!

Oh!  and I'm sorry, Serenity Wisdom, I had a bmx so I'm not much help!

serenity - Looking at it much more closely, I can see little veins.  I think its just the thin skin.  Its been red all along but I am at the end now and its really stretched out.  Its not as purple as I made it sound and it is looking a little better today.

Sandy - YEAH!!!  Congratulations!  I would want to peek too!!! Glad youre doing well and keep us posted!!!

Well, I finally feel like things are softening again.  I didnt think being over-inflated this much would ever soften.  My 350 TE is at 550!  But I can feel the skin softening and I can squish in the sides of the TE again.  Phew.

And in addressing my boob greed - I had a nice long chat with my BFF yesterday about size.  Now seriously, I never thought i would have such an in-depth conversation with ANYone about my size, her size (DD) and boobs in general!  I never laughed so hard either!  But now with boob greed in check, I know I am going with the right size.  If I was any bigger, it would get to be hard to find clothes and bras (just like the problem my friend has) so the best bet is to go with what looks good on your own frame and not worry about what other people think or what your husband wants or some image you have of being a supermodel (wait, arent most of them pretty flat?  Hey, I WAS a supermodel then! LOL).  Food for thought.  I can breathe a little and look forward to next week now!

Sandy - yay!!!!! so glad exchange went well!  Give the implants some time.  At first I looked at mine, tried to be positive, but had some concerns in the back of my mind.  Now I'm pretty happy about everything...this is just the beginning of many changes over the next couple months with your new girls, I am sure everything will "drop & fluff" and will lead to the look you were hoping for.  But if one day you ever did a revision (I'm definitley not saying you do or will need one!) I believe insurance is obligated to cover it since it would still be for reconstruction purposes, I could be wrong, but I believe this is true.

Serenity - welcome! I don't have experience with your question, but head over to Breast Implant Sizing 101 under the reconstruction topic and Whippetmom may be able to help you!  Good luck :-)

Eileen, I hope the fat grafting works for you.  I am going to ask my PS about it the end of the month.  I have a divot on e one side (I've got a bony chest wall) and wouldn't mind it filled in with my "post-baby fat" :-)  We'll see what he says...

Sue - I had the purplish hue, too - just our pale skin pushed to the max :-)   I like your attitude re: exchange.  I remember being anxious a couple weeks before about size, but then I just had to let go of it.  I referred to it as taking the "plunge" Our PS have the experience we want, and we haven't gone into this blindly, either.  We have discussed, researched and gotten feedback from women who have 'been there' before us.  I'd say you have done what you could, voiced your thoughts and are most-definitley ready for next week!  I have no doubt you are going to look amazing!   ...and a positive attitude goes a loooong way to helping that!

Megan - PHEW!!!! I am so glad to hear its our pale skin!!!  Did it get better or are you still rather red???  I feel like the whole thing is red due to something (the excision site, the port site, the little veins, and even when I have been ITCHING today).  And thanks for having my back!  I hope my attitude stays this way!!!

Hi ladies!  Can't believe you be going in for your pre-op in a couple days, Sue!  I bet you can't wait to finally have your girls matching! :)

Congrats on E-day Sandybeach!!  I'm excited to see what you think of them once you are able to take a peek!

Hi SerenityWisdom and welcome!  Sorry, I had a BMX so can't help you with your question.

Well I did the Susan G Komen 5k on Sunday with my DH.  Not quite what I expected. My husband was great... I guess I just thought I would have more of a "connection" with other woman there (especially the "survivors").  I didn't really feel it I guess?  ...they did have some nice "freebies" for us though! And the spread of food they had for the survivors was TONS of sugary donuts, pastries, sweets, etc... not exactly the best anti-BC food to be feeding! I was a little surprised they didn't have "healthy" alternatives?... anyhoo.. we ended up getting a hotel Sat night and making a weekend out of it..we had beautiful weather and walked all over the city both days and had a really good time so it was all good. :)

Susan - proud of you for doing the 5K. Now I think what we all need to do is find one in a cool city and MEET.....THEN you'll feel a connection because we all already have one!!!!  Wouldnt that be fun?  And I agree about the donuts.  Who wants a donut after a race?  Strange!  Sounds like the weather made it great.  Nice.

And yes, tomorrow helping at school and then first thing friday morning is the pre-op!  Yippie!  Although I have two missed calls at home from the hospital.  I am HOPING its the them reminding me of the appointment and not telling me something else.  Settle the mind....settle down.

Just had my pre-op today. Told my PS that I wanted a full B/small C. He said with my TE's I'm a full/large C. I told him I don't want to be that big. He chose low profile (cohesive gel/mentor) #15. Not sure what that means. I said to him I don't want  hamburger buns. He seem to feel this would be the right size for me.

Anyone else here get low profiles?

I don't want to ask whipplemom because I do feel I should trust my PS. I really don't understand enough to really question him or understand if whipplemom suggestion is correct… so I'm not asking.

lago:  I'm scheduled for low height.  My PS says that's the only thing he uses.  I gather it means less bulk at the top & maybe less clevage?  But I'm scheduled for 410s so may not be comparable.  Hope someone else will add more.

I've decided to try discussing bust circumference for dress sizes instead of bra sizes.  Land's End & Coldwater Creek both have standard bust sizes - ie: 10 = 37"; 12 = 38-1/2:, etc.  We'll see if this will make it easier to communicate with my PS.

SueBee:  I don't post often but wanted to say good luck with your exchange.

Susan:  Glad you went ahead with the 5K.  Wish we could have your weather.  We've already had two 105 degree days in Houston.

Lago, aren't you filled to about 600ccs? If I remember right, that is...

My 500cc implants can wear a variety of different sizes, depending on manufacturer and cup type.  Mainly, 34D... I think I look like a C in tight tops, and a B in loose fitting clothes.  Don't worry about the cup size, the letter D does not describe my boobs, just the size of the underwire!

Most reconstruction causes the need for a D cup, simply due to the width of implants. My PS only uses high profile, to get better upper pole fullness.

No I'm not filled that much. I think I heard him say 475cc today although I did get 10 expansions. I was under the impression based on what the nurse said that I was being filled with 60cc each time but maybe not.

He might be trying to match what I had before. I was pretty smooth/flat before in the upper pole. He knows I don't what that "coconut/stripper boobs" look.

I am up on the picture forum

Lago I spoke to whippetmom just to confirm what PS and I were thinking in the first place.  My TE is 550 now but I dont know exactly what implant the right will have.  We tried a 350 on the left and DH and I liked the look and PS felt it was a good size for my frame...thats how I made my choice.  He only uses high profile (which is narrower).  I googled high profile implants vs low to see the difference in width and height.  I told my PS I didnt want to get stripper boobs either....I still want to have an active lifestyle and dont want to look like I had a boobjob.   Ill go take a look at your photos.

Minustwo - thanks!  I almost feel like my TE is tormenting me this week....its getting harder and harder to sleep with it....now I KNOW I am big enough!

Susan, I did the 5K this past weekend too!  But in DC they did serve healthy food.  Lots of fruit, cheese, yogurt, snack bars, etc.  My family and friends all ran the 5K and I wasn't up for that so rather than walk alone, I wandered around and picked up all the free items.  Is that lame of me?  I was so worked up the night before worried about getting downtown on time and the crowds that I had a great time once I was finally there!

Sue and Lago, I'm thinking of you two!  My exchange was on Monday and I'm feeling a bit blue now that I can see what I've ended up with.  I let my PS decide between 400 and 425 high profile implants.  She chose 400 which look beautiful when I'm naked but basically look pretty flat chested when I have clothes on.  I was a bit shocked and talked to the nurse about this at my post-op.  She said if I want to have revision surgery I need to wait 3 months and might need to go back into tissue expanders if it was much more than a 50cc increase.  I don't know what to think now!  I tried on bras at Target today and it appears I fit perfectly in 36B.  A friend I confided in doesn't understand what the big deal is but as I try and figure out why it bothers me, I think I actually enjoyed having a figure for the first time in my life with those darn TE's!  And I went through so much with the surgery and the fills.  And now I'm back with my belly sticking out further than my boobs.  Back to padded bras, etc.  But to go back in for surgery?  I can't imagine!  Maybe I just didn't realize how much I would want that girly figure after all!

SandyBeach I totally understand. I don't want to do this again unless there is a real need (complication). I need to get on with my life. I already had a 1 month delay. I would think we could get the correct size the first time. I do think the worst that could happen is I end up looking like I did before but fuller/wider. I dont' want that though. I do want to go a little bigger.

I did hear my PS say he was grafting fat to the lower pole but I don't know if that will had height or just soften the edges. I really wish I understand more of the details of this entire procedure.

I can't believe I'm second guessing him right now. I've so trusted him from the start. He was the 1st doctor I spoke with after my diagnosis the brind me down "off the cliff" if you know what I mean. I just don't have the time or money for revisions (that should be right in the first place).

I got the style 15's Lago...granted they aren't cohesive gel..so it may be different?  They aren't "low" profile..they are considered "mid range".  After scouring the pic site... and knowing my body type (I had a wider breast "footprint") and what I looked like before... and talking to my PS...I felt the 15 would look the most natural for me.  I also realize most people don't want to look "natural"..but for me... I really didn't want to look like I had a "boob job".  Plus I kind of like the "look" of a "leaner chest".. I don't know really how to describe it?  I like wearing lower cut shirts and not having cleavage popping out of them.  I can still wear all my old shirts... I just don't have to wear a padded bra to fill them out now. :)

Oh, by the way.... on our Seattle weekend, we stopped at the Nordstrom Rack and I picked up a Wacoal bra just for kicks (still need to make an appt to get fitted!!).  It is a beautiful lace black one.  And just lace... no padding at all..you can see through it. It's a 34C and fits like a glove!  I'm wearing it today with a fitted shirt I would have normally needed a "padded" bra with. :)

And regarding the 5k .. .I wish ours would have had healthy foods like yours Sandybeach!  And no it's not lame that you didn't walk it :) .... I snapped up all the freebies too!

I'm sorry you feel dissappointed in your exchange ... will there perhaps be a change with drop and fluff?  I know it's not ideal... but there is always that option for revision that you are entitled too.

Lago...I just saw your link in the Breast 101 thread and though mine are a style 15, they are a different brand.  They are the "mid plus" that whippetmom is talking about being almost as popular as the high profile.

Lago, I'm sure your PS is listening and knows what you want.  You'll be beautiful post surgery and if you just remind him that you want to be a bit bigger than prior, he'll surely make it happen!  I think in my case, my PS knew that when I started out, I didn't want to be larger than a B and she was worried that I would be sorry for going larger.  But that train had already left the station once my fills took over my brain!

Susan, what size implant did you end up with?  I can't remember now but I thought it was between 425 and 445...

The nurse told me that insurance will pay if we need to do a revision.  I wonder if that's true if there isn't a problem with the first implants.  I have to say, the exchange went so smooth and aside from a couple of days where I made myself take it easy and take some pain meds, it really wasn't a big deal!  On my 3rd day out I was shopping with my sister and popping an ibuprofen now and again.  I'm not scared to go through it again if it will be a better end result.  I just can't tell how much a difference going from 400cc to 450cc would really make.  I need to find Megan's pics in the forum!  That would clear a lot of things up!

Thanks Susan I think I'm going to call my PS office today. I totally understand what you are talking about. Like you I am used having no cleavage when wearing low shirts. I think we are about the same size but I have a shorter body and even more skin and bones like on upper body. (I keep my fat in my ass and thighs… and a bit in my love handles. Basic below the belly button stuff). Your old breasts are definitely bigger than my old ones. I'm still really concerned about looking too flat/no projection with the low profile. So far no one has chimed in with low profiles.

But then again he is going to at fat to the lower pole so maybe that's where I'll get projectiion.

BTW I can't believe all the weight you lost. Not only do your new boobs look fab but look at that tummy disappear!

Sandy Im not sure of your measurements....but Megan and I are the same size and I am on the picture forum.  Megan hasnt been able to post hers.  I am filled to 550 now and exchange Monday.  50ccs is such a teenie amount in terms of solution.  500ccs is about 2 cups.....so do the math there and 125 is a 1/4 of a cup....so 50ccs is about a tablespoon?  I havent posted my 550's but you can see my 415 and 500 fills.  I hope to post the 550 today and then you could see the difference 50 makes.  I should be getting a 450 implant.

I think a 36B is great.  and I think it will be nice you have options.  A lot of people wake up and wonder where their foobs went....It could be some time before they look like they are going to so the 3 month wait is warranted. I have to keep remembering that.  Im glad I have this site to give me due warning!

Susan the bra sounds so sexy...I cannot wait until I dont need to fluff to fill a shirt!  I want them 'out there'!!!!

Sandybeach ~ I ended up with 457cc style 15.  My natural breast pocket is pretty wide (14cm) so if I had wanted to get HP I would have had to get at least 600cc with that width!!  No thank you! Tongue out

SueB~ Yes, the bra is very sexy!... first "only lace" bra I've ever owned! .. will have to get a pic up of it!  I can't believe your pre-op is tomorrow! So excited for you!

Lago ~ I felt alot like you about my PS. I really, really trusted him..but still couldn't help having little doubts pop up here and there.  It does sound like you have really great communication with him so I don't think you should be too worried.  And thanks for your compliments!! Unfortunately I've gained some weight (8 lbs!!!) since the exchange that I am officially blaming on the arm restrictions and excessive wine consumption. So now that I am off the arm retricts, and I am going in for my second fat grafting (yay!) on July 14th..I am getting my ass back in gear so he can take actual stubburn fat and not just excessive fat damnit!

By the way... at the Susan G 5k they had a "Survivor's picture area" ...you were supposed to sit on this "gold throne" with a tiara on.  I thought it was kinda silly, but what the hay! .. so I made my good sport hubby wear the tiara...and I... ever the smartass...did my best "snooty regal survivor pose".   Kiss

By the way... I didn't care for the survivor shirts.... I hate pink and felt goofy! I'm going to petition that they change the official BC color to cocoa brown.  Tongue out

Called PS office and they are using a mid profile but he usually uses a high profile according to the nurse (ordered range 371-379 style 15 mentor cohesive gel). Not sure why the switch.

Scheduler called me back and said that he usually uses mid profile. WTF? Sometimes I don't know if the nurse doesn't know what's going on or the scheduler is just bs-ing me to make me feel better (but I do like them both). Anyway the doctor is going to call me tomorrow to explain more in detail. Scheduler did say he does use the low profile in augmentation, which does make sense but that's not what she ordered. I know he did say low profile because I questioned him on it.

Susan, GREAT pic!  Thanks for sharing it!  I loved my t-shirt and I'm not sure why because I don't like t-shirts as a rule.  But I felt so special in that one that I wore it all day, even after we got home from the race and did some errands.  I think I felt like I was part of something bigger than myself when I wore it.  And women stopped to chat with me and tell me their own stories when I had it on!

Lago, I found that when I spoke with the staff at my doc's office I would get one story, but my PS typically gave me different information.  I don't think it was intentional but my PS was the one who made the decisions and sometimes it meant bending her own rules.  The office tech always gives me the rule of the land no matter what.

Sue, thanks for your input on size.  My PS always said 25 cc in an implant is only about 2mm.  Not much to speak of, really.  But 50 cc is more measurable.  Not for projection, but for height and cleavage...  I just know that when our daughters go through this, they'll have the technology in ALL the doc's offices to see what each would like like on their own bodies through photo enhancement!

The good news for me is that nobody would ever accuse me of having a boob job!  ha ha ha

I'm off my ledge now. I did PM a local gal who is on this list. She is about the same size as me. We are getting about the same size implants/moderate projection. Still going to have that chat with the PS tomorrow though. I feel like I wasted so much energy on this in the last 24 hours. If only my PS hadn't said low profile when he really meant moderate I wouldn't have given this a second thought.

I did things very backward and didn't gain access to the pic forum until AFTER my exchange surgery.  So, like Lago, I've been spending way too much time on this topic today trying to figure out if I got the best size per me, rather than per the PS.  I'm actually feeling better about things!  But as usual, I have a question for all of you knowledgeable ladies:  I see references from whippetmom and others that we should support our new breasts at all times to keep them from shifting or dropping too much.  But my PS keeps telling me that because I have the alloderm, I won't need to wear a bra after I have healed from surgery.  I have always been careful not to smoosh my poor little breasts even before BC for fear that it would cause them to droop.  So what's the story?  Should we err on the side of caution and keep them encased in bras forevermore?

BTW, Lago, my PS only uses high profile.  I'm glad you're going to be able to chat directly with the PS tomorrow.  It will definitely put your mind at rest.  He sounds like a great doc, calling you to discuss your concerns!
