Rennasus ~ Good luck with the PS..will be interested to see what advice he has for you. .. and I will have to check out that relaxation video and your blog! :)

And my hubby actually started reading the forum when I first joined after I was diagnosed... I would read it on his ipad...so he could see what I was reading (it defaults back to that page?) and was interested in the topics I had read.  I was actually touched that he wanted to learn more.  Though that is when I also got "in trouble" for reading the Stage IV, etc threads!  Undecided

But it really was nice to be able to talk to him about it and I felt that he really understood.   I don't think he looks at it much anymore (mainly because I'm not on as much as I was)... now he thinks I'm just obsessed with boobs!  Sheesh.  You think he would be more interested now than before! Wink

Hi Ladies!  Just a quick check in!! I caught a peek today.  I figured if PS says its OK to shower, Im ok to take them out to play for a minute.  I wanted to see the incisions and 'so called symmetry' that the PS was bragging about!  LOL  Well, they are flatish as expected, but they look GOOD!  He was able to even them out so they are level with one another (YIPPIE)!!!  The left incision looks terrific...the right looks a little tough but not horrible.  They have dermabond over them again. So Im not going to shower today....im still a little lightheaded so Ill give it another day.

Megan - time for a netbook?  I couldnt live without mine!!! To think I didnt want one but DH got it for me anyway.

Susan - Yeah a group fitting!!!  That would be fun!!  I cant wait now, actually!  And youre right...its a long way to go around to get what I wanted last fall!!!  My friend on the phone said she was jealous that mine will never sag and I said "would you rather go through cancer to get perkies?"  Um, yeah that shut her up.  Good thing we could laugh about it.

And don't worry - Megan and I will SURELY be comparing notes...and we'll take a picture or two Laughing  Although I wont be very dropped and fluffed by then!

Renn - Im going to go check out your blog!  And the only spot of my incision that I am already worried about is the same darn place!!!!  Ill take pictures soon!!!

    Have a great day!

Yay on your peek! Yay on your levelness! Yay on your potential group fitting! lol!!!

And I had a friend do the "I'm jealous you (get new boobs, getting attention, etc)" and said the "yeah, and all I had to do was get cancer!" Tongue out

Sue ~ I was wondering about your augmentation side.  So does the muscle hurt on that side more than the one that already got stretched with the TE??

Susan yes it definitely hurts more than the TE side.  Remember after mx how it was hard to pull up your pants or reach and stuff?  Same kind of thing.  But not quite as horrible.  I'm a righty so its easy to let the left be.  But I have to be back to shimmying out of the chair and stuff because I go to support myself and OWWW.  My pain meds are just about due again and I can feel the left side much more strongly right now.

DH wants to take a photo today....I guess we are full-fledged journaling now!  Ill post it later.

I remember the shimmy out of the chair!  Interesting to know about the pain on that side.  Makes sense since that seemed to be the most painful aspect of my BMX.. the muscle tightness.

Have to tell you that last Saturday..when I was finally able to do all the arm weight exercises again since the exchange (boy did that feel good! I actually started tearing up during my step class!)...it all of a sudden occured to me that "this was it"!  No more arm restrictions! Even with my fat grafting...still... no more arm restrictions!!!!  Life is good!!!   Laughing

I saw the twins! ;-) Congrats my friend.

I posted a long post (what do you call it? A missive?) on the pic forum explaining what happened today at my PS's office. Long story short: We are giving it a couple more weeks to heal on its own (with new steri-strips covering the black hole) and if no dice, then I'll have surgery in July to remove the expander, and then we have to let my right side heal for a couple months. In the fall, we will explore putting in a new TE and possibly making a new sling too.

    I am so sad!

Renn- so sorry to hear you have hit a "bump" in the road and I reallly am sending positive vibes you keep your TE.

Things sound good, Sue! I can't go back too may posts while I'm typing on my iPhone, (laptop back hopefully tomorrow...crazyy how lost I am without it!) so glad you are symmetrical and SOFT!!! It is really so good to read how happy you are, I can definitley feel the smiles thru the posts!

Susan, yes- I had a comment issue about the boob-thing too..."oh you are sooo lucky they will be perky forever"...can't really take the jealousy factor when in reality I lived in a kinda dark place leading up to bmx...yes, they might kick

some ass in a tank top now, ;-) (LOL!!!) but the ride getting here was not pleasant at allllll!

Well, I'm getting annoyed with my little screen and typing way too many typos! Hopefully will be back in action with you all tomorrow!

Congrats SusansGarden....sounds wonderful. It is funny that since I had to have me expanders removed due to pseudomonas that now I am thinking maybe I should go just a smidge bigger when the new ones go in!  lol

I stopped by the Victoria Secret semi annual sale today to look at bras for my daughter. I ended up buying one for myself. The bombshell bra. Now, you have to realize that I am totally flat with no expanders. HAVE YOU SEEN THE BOMBSHELL BRA? It is insanely padded...so much that if you had boobs, I can't figure out where they would go

At any rate, the 36 b fits great and I don't have to put in any falsies, so it ends up pretty comfortable.

At my chemo graduation party tonight, my friends thought it all looked great!

    Rennasus-

Ugh so depressing. About two weeks after my mastectomy, my right breast was a little pink. I had no other symptoms, The PS tested the fluid...nothing came back. He treated me with Cipro orally just in case. That seemed to help. He was watching it carefully and talking to some other docs on something called Red Breast Syndrome. There was some fluid around the expander that he drained each time I did a fill. That was what he tested the first time. Three weeks went by after I finished cipro and things started getting much pinker. I did have a low grade fever one day a week for 5-6 hours, never over 99.3, so they thought it was due to chemo. Again, none of the symptoms they would be expecting to see.(Oncs office and PS office are right next door, conveniently for me,so they were conferring also).

This time he had them grow the culture on a petri dish, and an antibiotic resistant bacteria call pseudomas came back. Medium in one side, light in the other. By this point I was at 500 for fills, with a goal of 550.

We decided to go into surgery with two possibilities, either flush it all out and put in the implants if it wasn't too bad, or remove the implants if it was. He said he literally stood in surgery for 5 minutes trying to decide. Finally decided to err on the side of caution. Took the implants out, and put me on two weeks of IV antibiotics. When I went back, all pinkness was gone and as sad as he was, he felt the right decision was made. I think so too, but not happy.

I called the hospital and made sure it was reported to their infectious disease board. Only 2% of people get pseudomonas, although I have read that those getting foreign body implants are a little higher.

So, now I wait until my appointment on August 2. No....I am totally going to horn in on my husbands appointment for a couple of skin tag removals on July 1 and make him check me out. If he thinks it looks good, I am also going to make him schedule the surgery for August 3 so it is on his calendar!

Fluff Im so glad you found that bra!!!  This whole thing makes us feel a little insecure, doesnt it?  We all just want to feel pretty sometimes!  And good luck with your appointment...I hope he can get you in soon!!!

Fluffqueen, THANK YOU for sharing your story. This is all so scary!! Your doc did the right thing given that you had pseudomas. How long has it been now since your TEs were removed? Also, do you feel markedly better now that the TEs are out and the infection is gone? I am always tired and that makes me wonder if something (like infection) really is what's going on...

Seebee, thanks, g-friend. I never liked roller coasters, and here I am, living on one! ;-)

    Renn,

It has been 6 weeks since they were taken out. I can't say I felt markedly better, because I never really felt bad. My oncologist said they would have to watch me carefully for infection since I didn't have the typical symptoms.

I did feel tired off and on, but no different after they were out, so I think it is chemo driven. I just finished chemo and will continue on herceptin. It will be interesting to see if over the next few weeks I start to feel different. Generally, I did not have too many side effects that were really bad.

Hi Ladies, I'm a bit late answering your posts, but wanted to say thanks for your support regarding how DHs struggle with understanding what we go through.

This week my kids got out of school with a plethora of activities,  and we had a family of house guests - dear friends who are moving away across country, so sad to say goodbye!

Susan, many thanks for your idea-  I have begun sharing a few posts w/ DH to help enlighten him and I think he is getting it a little more. I voiced my feelings with him and feel much better. Now I am back on more supportive ground. I do appreciate being able to confide in you ladies so much- what a wonderful support network we have. It's true, sometimes it may ease the situation to rely on girlfriends and others rather than always talking to the spouse about breasts!

Sue- I am so happy for your wonderful results and can hear your joy thru your posts- yeah!!  Keep laying low and heal well.

Annie- I may very well have the  Mondor's  syndrome you had w/ the TE adhesions. At least it appears that it will go away in time.

Have a great weekend lovely ladies-

Renn, I appreciate your kind comments and I have been following your insightful blog- it's terrific. Thanks. Continued wishes and prayers  for good health and healing - I know you want the best and healthiest result and this will come in time. The  processes we must endure can be  sooo long and drawn out and like doing an ultra-marathon which requires lots of stamina and focus.

Fluffqueen ~ I have seen that VS bombshell bra and have to say I was shocked at how little room there was left for boobage!!! lol!  Perfect for you while you are waiting to have your TE's replaced! :)

Rennasus ~ I will be crossing my fingers for good healing over the next week!!

RedSky ~ I'm SO glad that it helped to have your hubby read some posts!!!  It does make sense that it would help them.. because knowing how much it helps me to hear that I'm not alone in my thinking.... I can imagine it helps them to know that we have not gone bat shit crazy in our thought processes! ;)

Megan ~ any luck with the laptop?  Have you had your follow up with your PS yet?

Sue ~ How are the girls doing? ....and I thought of another question for you ... do you still have sensation in your augmented breast nipple? ... and more importantly, does your neighbor?  Tongue out

Hi all....ooooh I dont feel so well right now.  Frown  My stomach hasnt been right since yesterday.  I stopped the pain meds altogether and have been trying to eat some fruit.  But Im thinking the iced coffee I had 2 hours ago is not doing me a good service right now. I was just tired of drinking water!  I did move a LITTLE more today.  DH and I went to CVS for all of 10 minutes and {gasp} I got out of the recliner and read in my sunroom today!  I hope it passes soon!

Susan - YOU CRACK ME UP!  I dont think nipples were a topic of conversation with my neighbor!!!  She does look all dropped and fluffed as of the last time I saw her!  And as for mine (WHAT, its OK to ask me about it now that youve seen and admired her?  LOL) YES I have all of my feeling in the left and the nipple is wonderfully sensitive (not hypersensitive at all).  I told my husband when I get the other one 'done' it will be like art on the wall - nice to look at but you cant play with it.  I took them out for a shower again today and they still look great to me.  My right is FAR squishier than the left....the left is a little tight but it also looks that way. The right really feels like a waterballoon where the left feels a little more like a rubber ball.  The incisions look great to me too.  I have been SO careful in the shower as to not rub them.

Red Im glad you turned a corner with your DH.  Thats great!

Yes. I have seen and admired her (for hours upon hours now) and feel quite comfortable asking her intimate questions!! Tongue out

Such a bummer that your stomach is bothering you..but I am glad you are taking it easy still and letting yourself heal.  Does your scar area still look pretty good?

Okay...back to the nips.  So glad your nip can still come out to play!!! Maybe I'm thinking of reduction surgery...I think there is a possibility you can lose some sensation? So your BC side is far squishier?  Do you think that is because the muscle is tight on the other side? Unless I have your left/right mixed up than I have no idea what the heck I'm talking about!  Mine are way squishier now than after the exchange.  In fact... I think they may have recently dropped/fluffed?  I really notice more since my arm restrictions are off and I'm doing more exercise.

By the way...I just found out my pre-op appt for my fat grafting is July 7th...which happens to be my hubby's birthday. .. so I sent him this text "My pre-op appt for discussing where to extract globs of my ever present fatty tissues and inject it into my deflated breast cavity is scheduled for July 7th. Happy Birthday!"

His response, "Just what I always wanted".  Tongue out

LOL your husband...Does he get a say where too?  That could be VERY dangerous.  My husband would avoid that topic like the plague.  "la la la la la...im not listening!!!"

Yes youre thinking reduction.  My left, yes the left is the BA girl, is probably tighter because the muscle wasnt stretched before and I have some breast tissue there.  My arelola looks stretched out a little and the nip is at attention. But the risk with a BA is hypersensitivity...almost pain in the nip which I do not have.

I am completely surprised how squishy they are overall after listening to others post exchange.  My expectations were really low.  I was expecting unmatching hamburger buns.

Im in the danger zone now...off meds and will start feeling like moving around. The incisions look great now but I wont be happy until the derma bond is gone and the incisions are completely healed.  Its easy to forget though and I reach for doors and stuff already. Undecided

I bet thats it Takeadeepbreath!  Last night I finally had a horrible bout of constipation from my pain meds (this is TMI, sorry) and I took my anti const. pill and 'went' within an hour or so....stopped taking pain meds this morning but started feeling crummy again after lunch.  So no more pain meds but I have to take the anti-biotic for 5 more days.  With my two regular meds, I was taking 6 meds this week all day and night....thats got to be too much.  Im down to three.

Sue, just take it easy!  My PS told me after surgery there is usually lots of swelling (oh glorious, deceptive swelling...I need some swelling right about now actually LOL) and if you do too much, it can cause MORE swelling, and the swelling goes away easier if you just take it easy.  Don't make us come down there and restrain you!  And whatever you do, just do it slowly.  I found that was the best way for me to avoid accidentally picking up something heavy, or opening a heavy door...I reached quick and then it was like OOPS...

Once I slowed myself down, it gave my brain time to say "don't pick up that dog". "Are you sure it's a good idea to yank that door handle because that door weighs a million pounds" etc etc.

Glad to see you are feeling good!
