I am now up on the picture forum under wolfwail. I am getting excited to swap out these expanders for a new size and style. Because I haven't added any fills to the 300ccs and 350ccs I got at surgery, they are starting to shape-shift creating lumps and bumps. The pain is growing every day, so I want them out. Surgery is scheduled for Sept 6.

Megan - any winds or rain yet?

Lindsey- good luck with surgery! My pre-op is the same day, I'll be thinking of you!

As far as the hurricane, it was crazy-windy here, many trees down and power lost, but we were fortunate that the house/yard are ok! My Internet is down so I haven't been online. Let us know how everything went when you're feeling up to it!

    Hey ladies,

I am back from my "skinny fat" fat grafting.   He uses Dr. Khouri's method which is to harvest the fat and place it in drop by drop. The PS had to use four areas to get two tablespoons of fat to use.  He used the love handles all the way up to the bottom of my breasts and right above the hips.  If I need a second fat grafting session, I think there are two tablespoons left on my upper thighs.  Otherwise, we will have to use the butt area,  I have no belly fat (upper or lower), so now I wonder what would be used if implants fail me? Best not go to that dark side now!

I am less than a week out, so I don't know if this fat will hold or get re-absorbed, but I will keep you tuned in!

My DH plans to post on my blog on Wed hoe the surgery went, so if you don't hear from me you can read his post at wolfwail.wordpress.com. Love you all for walking this with me! I am an enigma according to my plastic surgeon!  Now, everyone is treating the foobs as a rash, although kept me on IV antibiotics for two weeks just to cover all the bases.

Right now, the foobs look almost normal!  Woo Hoo. Now I just have to keep them that way. The dermatologist said if it is something connected to the TE's it could come back. He thinks he can keep it at bay for 6 weeks if that is the case. I am curently at 240cc's, which I have been at for 3 weeks. PS stopped after the rash started to calm things down, and because he was heading on vacation and didn't want any issues.

I see him on Thursday and I am sure he will do a fill. I am going to go one fill at a time in deciding how big I want to be. Not more than 400. I like being smaller.

My biggest problem is trying to set the exchange. We are going to HIlton Head from October 6-14. Ideally, I will have surgery immediately after that. If problems crop up, it might have to be earlier, but it better not mess with my vacation!

YAY Lindsey! Glad you are on the other side. Look forward to reading abouyt it tomorrow.

Kerinetzel: All that matters is that you are happy! Go girl!

Fluffqueen, glad things are looking more normal! I agree, try and have surgery after your vaca!

I see my PS today. Although they look OK one side is still much higher than the other on the bottom pole. The higher one had ptosis the other doesn't so they look even. When I wear a bra the lower band is higher on the ptosis side.

My husband sees it too. Should they be that uneven? I know they won't be perfect but this seems a bit too much. Anyone else have this issue?

    BTW I had a BMX

Going small was wonderful!  Enough of the D cups - lovely B cups feel sooooo great!

I am uneven - I had an implant on the masectomy side and a reduction on the other - then I lost weight and guess what - boobs are fatty soooo, I am looking into getting an implant for the other side so weight ups and downs don't keep changing the size of my boobs.

    Wish you the best, lago!

    Hugs

Thanks lowrider. Nice to "see" you. I'm not so sure I should even be here anymore. Went from a slim A/B to a full C. BTW saw mom last week and she says they look great and I didn't go too big. Tongue out

Lago I am still uneven...I am suppoed to wear the bandeau from hell to push down my MX side but I sleep in it and thats it.  Its a CM off and once dressed, unnoticable.  But there is still that nagging feeling I COULD do something about it.

I wore the compression band. My upper poles are even it's the lower pole. My PS agrees that the left sits lower than the right. Right had nice ptosis, left has none. He said he can fix it during the nipple reconstruction by raising the left side. He is also going to try and do some more fat grafting… if he can find more fat Tongue out

    Hello ladies,

I just wanted to check in as I am now six weeks out from my exchange surgery.  I have put a few pictures up of my bras on the "Post your Bras' thread on the photo forum.  Let me know what you think. I see my PS for my follow-up visit this week and want to ask some good questions. I think our main discussion will be nipple reconstruction slated for later this fall. We are not doing FG. I am pretty happy with the symmetry although we had to use two different implant styles to achieve the results. I'll see what my PS says!

So much to catch up on!

Slinky had the skinny FG! It will be interesting to see how your's holds.  I'm almost 2 months out from my 2nd FG and the divet area seems to be holding! (I'd say only about 50% of the first FG "took") I'm starting to wonder whether I really want to bother with another one that is scheduled Nov 10th.

Megan ~ Did you have your FG yet.. has to be any day now?

Kerenitzel ~ I've had people express surprise that I didn't go bigger as well.  I never wanted the "busty" look. And I believe I have succeeded. ;)

Redsky ~ Congrats on being 6 wks out.  No more arm restrictions! :) I will have to go check out your pics.  I haven't been over to the pic site for awhile.

Lago & Sue ~ those bands do not sound comfortable :( Do you notice any difference since using it Sue?.  Lago ~ So how exactly do they raise the lower pole? Do they use alloderm? If the left has no ptosis..how will he create that by raising it..and then will your upper poles be uneven? I've heard people talk about "pocket work" and I wonder exactly what that means?  Do they stitch from the inside to attach the skin tissue to the chest wall? .. and congrats on your Nipple Date! That's my 1 year anniversary from being diagnosed.  So nice of you to celebrate it by getting a nipple! Tongue out

Susan I didn't really ask for details but he said that he would go back in and do some pocket work. I assume he tightens up the lower pocket… but I'm not exactly sure what he does in there. They are not that uneven so I'm not sure it would effect the upper pocket.

He's never mentioned anything about alloderm so I don't believe he uses it.

I was under the impression that the compression band encouraged the implants to drop… not raise the lower pole. I'm wearing mine over the upper pole. Not sure where Sue is wearing hers.

No, I knew the bands weren't for raising your lower pole... I was just curious as to how exactly they do that in surgery.  I've just heard whippetmom say many times that it is much more difficult to raise the "lower pole" than lower it.  Just curious as to why and what exactly they do to achieve that.

I looked on the abbreviation site and couldn't find anything for "FG". What is that?

Question, when they do the exchange surgery do they use the same incision they made for the MX or do they do it from underneath the foob? How many times can you cut open the same incision without winding up with major scar tissue? I had an infection in the left breast so my PS opened up the incision, sucked out some fluid, did a culture, put in some antibiotic stuff and sewed me back up. (I was awake for the whole thing, never felt any pain thanks to the local).

FG = Fat Grafting.  Taking viable fat cells from another area of the body and injecting them into the breast area to fill in things like "divets".

My PS used my same incision. I've heard some use a different location (like the inframammary fold) than the mastectomy scar. I think most use the same scar?

    Hi!

I am headed for FG on Monday, looking forward to getting it done, but not the surgery-part! I've gotta be up at 4 am, Boston by 6 for an 8 am surgery. PS says it's about 1 1/2-2 hr procedure. It gets tricky with the kiddos, but better than if I'd done it this summer.

Susan, glad to hear your results are looking good! Are you still thinking of postponing/cancelling your next round? Btw, were you up and around, feeling like yourself right after, or was it a few days? No restrictions for you either? I don't have restrictions I know about. I spoke with the nurse, I had asked her if FG gives noticable results, and she said probably not... "sigh" still woulda been nice to get rid of a little more if I could... ;-) Also, did you need a script after or was Advil enough? I have literally done nothing in terms of preparations for this surgery, I'm thinking of it as a simple procedure, am I taking it too lightly/missing any important parts? I assume after a day or two I'll feel like myself again, minus the divots! ;-)

I have been checking in every now and again on here, but my Internet is out. We had switched carriers prior to the hurricane, but due to the storm Verizon cannot get out here till next week, ugh! It's driving me mad!!! I wanna comment on everyones progress/goings on but my phone makes it hard to go back and read prior posts while typing...anyway, I hope all is well with you fine ladies! Enjoy the wknd!!!

Megan ~ I prob will keep the Nov 10th appt.  I was just looking in the mirror this morning and although you can't visibly tell... I can feel a slight indentation still... so I think I will go for it for extra "insurance" since I don't plan on doing it again after this year.

Yes, the recovery was WAY easier than exchange. No arm restrictions, yay!!  I think the biggest thing is just getting the anesthsia out of your system.  I bet you won't even need pain meds.  I had my surgery on Thursday and probably could have worked Friday if I hadn't had all the extra liposuction.

Just drink a lot of water to flush the anesthia out of your system and you should be good to go within a day or two. :)

So glad to hear your reassurance, Susan! I knew it would be easier than exchange, but I was starting to question myself today when I was like, wow! I didn't even clean my house super-well like I did before both the bmx & exchange, I was a cleaning MACHINE before those surgeries! I definitley have been calm & cool leading up to this, just hate the anesthesia, I'll be dumb as rocks for a week or so, but I'll be divot-free! (fingers crossed ;-) Were you told ahead of time you'd require a few rounds? My PS never discussed that, only that sometimes it takes and sometimes it doesn't, kinda the typical "just so you know" sorta stuff prior to any procedure...must say I could have done without his honesty when he said there is always the slight chance of infection/implant loss, ugh! Total buzzkill on my excitement when he mentioned that. I know he's always up front with me and that he was just doing his "job". I replied, "yup, it's a crap-shoot", but what the hell, these implants will remain a constant in that kind of way, I know I've got probably 2 or 3 more sets to go in this lifetime. ;-) ...and I don't anticipate anything going wrong with them just yet...positive thoughts, positive thoughts... :-)

fire-dancer Be sure it's OK to do Advil. At my exchange I had FG but wasn't allowed to take advil. Narcotics or Tylenol were my options. I took a few Tylenol for a couple of days to take the edge off but that's it. Wasn't too bad.

Speaking of doing stuff before surgery. I still have some frozen chili and sweet & sour cabbage soup from my exchange surgery at the end of June. Having the frozen stuff was helpful but I wasn't out of commission that long with the restrictions.

Megan ~ Yeah, I hate all the "disclaimers" they are required to tell you before surgery.  They also take my blood pressure AFTER that and it's high.  I need to remind them to take it BEFORE next time!

chiluvr1228,  my PS actually removed the scar and started with a "fresh scar" at my exchange surgery.  The original scar had widened some with the expansion of my skin.  Looks much better.

Gosh miss a few days and....

Red- the bras a beautiful...youre looking great my friend!

Susan - I wear the band over the upper pole on the right (well both sides but it doesnt squish the left as bad.  Right now it looks to me like the right implant has MORE than enough pocket....its full top/bottom and sides...no step off - just really full...and 1cm higher than the native side.  PS thinks the band can lower the breast -or at least encourage 'drop' but I dont see any difference.  If I wear it any tighter, it will hurt.  If my PS is allowed, she will narrow the pocket and drop the lower pole to match.

Megan - good luck with the procedure on Monday!!  Whoo hoo!  Ill be thinking of you girlfriend!!!  I hope to hear soon that all is well and youre looking fab!  (well, fab-ER!!!)

Lago - my nipple will be on the 29th as long as I dont decide to do anything drastic (a-la revision)...but I am not having anything else done and will not be going under so I hope its easy peasy - and fun to watch/listen to.

September 12...and no rash! Woo hoo!  Hoping it stays that way for another month and I will be good to go!

For those of you that have gone through the exchange to implants already....what was surgery like? Did you have drains again? We have a wedding on October 30, so I am trying to make sure I am working around a vacation and the wedding. How long was recovery?
